evile: TGIF!
SkyeDS: amen
evile: All ready for your SCA event? :)
SkyeDS: lol no of course not ~ I never am :P
evile: heh.
evile: I never heard back from Rio about this weekend, so I guess
I'll be helping Nikiyoy move tomorrow.
SkyeDS: sineater is still in the air about TG day too.
SkyeDS: and whether or not we manage to see both [his grandmother] and [his mom]
Sunday will have some weight.
SkyeDS: I have one lesson to teach, two if we can get back in time,
so we have to leave at a reasonable hour.
evile: *shrug* No bigg to me, I would say spend time with [his grandmother] while
she's still with us.
evile: wow, you're scheduled that far in advance? cool.
SkyeDS: I told him that this morning, that life would be easier if
[his mom] happened to come visit [his grandmother] at the same time we did.
evile: *nod*
evile: Problem with that is that [his mom] and sineater seem to both have
problems being places when they say they're going to....
SkyeDS: well, sineater will be where he says he's going to be, because
I'm doin the drivin :P
evile: And it would seem to put an impolite burden on Nana to be
hosting 1 for hours while waiting for the other to show up.
evile: lil_lamb locked that post, BTW
SkyeDS: can't say as I blame her
SkyeDS: maybe she'll see what I said in your friends post
SkyeDS: or someone will tell her I said it
evile: *nod*
evile: I don't think she's interested in hearing from me anymore, but
too chickenshit to say anything directly or take me off her LJ
friends list.
SkyeDS: I don't know her well enough to even hazard a guess
evile: eh, I'm not taking her off my LJ friends list either, not
interested in the possible shitstorm that might entail. Just leave as
is and we'll get over it, or not, and that will be that.
SkyeDS: I don't understand why politics ends friendships, truly I
don't
SkyeDS: I know the civil war divided brothers and all that
SkyeDS: I didn't vote for Bush or Kerry, but I don't feel animosity
towards anyone who voted for either, and I certainly wouldn't allow
that to end a friendship.
evile: *nod*
evile: A lot of people voted from their fears, not their hopes, and
people acting from fear are dangerous and hard to reason with.
SkyeDS: that's not acting that's reacting.
evile: I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just saying that's my
observation in this election.
evile: Me, personally? I work for the government, I am sterilized,
I'm heterosexual and monogamous, there's not much BushCo can do to
me, personally.
SkyeDS: Ashcroft is leaving, thank gawd. Now if we can just get rid
of Rumsfeld
SkyeDS: it depresses me that Colin Powell is leaving.
SkyeDS: I wish they hadn't done him like a house nigger.
evile: Yeah. He had some intregity and honesty and actual
conservative values...so I guess he had to go.
SkyeDS: I would vote for him.
SkyeDS: I think he and Kay Bailey Hutchison would make a great ticket.
evile: me too. Hell, Iwould have voted McCain
SkyeDS: I would have voted for McCain too.
evile: Aside from her wierdo breederism, I like KBH quite a bit.
SkyeDS: that would be quite a ticket for the Reps wouldn't it
SkyeDS: Black/Woman
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: or even McCain/Hutch = moderate/woman
SkyeDS: I don't think they're that bright.
evile: unfo, no.
evile: Politics is such a dirty, nasty, unsavory game that by the
time you've amassed enough money, power, and influence to do
anything, you're neck deep in shit, morally bankrupt, and hands tied
because you owe so much to so many shitbags you couldn't do the right
thing even if youw anted to.
SkyeDS: we don't have statesmen (Jefferson, Franklin) anymore
SkyeDS: we have politician/criminal/actors
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and we can't even tell the difference between the three
anymore (or seems like we can't)
SkyeDS: and the shit about getting rid of the EC?
SkyeDS: why didn't they want rid of it when it elected Clinton twice?
SkyeDS: was it not broken then?
SkyeDS: is it only broken when it doesn't work the way someone wants
it to?
SkyeDS: you don't throw out the Constitution and ask for a new one
because you didn't get your way
SkyeDS: and no one who would be good for the job of pres is stupid
enough to take it
evile: At least it's marginally possible that the EC still votes on
issues, whereas the majority of the population votes because their
guy is tall/cute/whatever.
SkyeDS: the EC is supposed to vote the way the State tells it to vote
after the State's popular vote
SkyeDS: it is not constrained by the Constitution to do so however.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: now someone has attacked one of my friends for having gay and
poly friends
SkyeDS: anonymously
SkyeDS: I pointed out to her that it has to be someone she knows
evile: bizarre. on LJ?
SkyeDS: nowhere in my LJ do I openly say I'm poly or pagan
SkyeDS: although I do reference rituals
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: the word poly was specifically thrown at her
SkyeDS: so it has to be someone who knows us
SkyeDS: http://www.livejournal.com/users/honehe/336556.html?
view=657836#t657836 ~ my response is here.
evile: I am not authorized to view the entry.
SkyeDS: oh well, no big
SkyeDS: I try not to make longwinded posts, but I got wound up :)
evile: How bizarre to pass judgements on someone's choice of
friends...
SkyeDS: my response summarized looked like this:
SkyeDS: Observation the first: Nowhere in my LJ do I openly proclaim
myself to be poly or pagan, although I am obviously a rennie :P. I
can't make any claims for your gay friends. But I can say this, if
someone attacked you for your poly, pagan friends Skye & Co, that
WASN'T anonymous, that has to be someone who knows us personally,
because they did NOT glean that from my LJ, because it isn't there.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: Observation the second: Polygamy is in both the Old Testament
(Jewish tradition) and the New (Christian tradition), referenced in
too many verses to even begin to quote them all here. Matter of fact,
the disciples of Christ argued about many things after He ascended,
including circumcision, keeping kosher, AND whether or not a church
leader should be married, and IF the church leader should have more
than one wife. Normally I cite my sources, but again, there are just
too many verses, both OT and NT. However, if I were asked to, I would
take the time to put every single verse in print.
SkyeDS: Observation the third: Nevermind "judge not lest ye likewise
be judged," "worry about the camel in your eye before the speck of
dust in your neighbor's(paraphrase)," and Paul's excellent treatise
on the definition of love in First Corinthians, and his insistance on
love and two other virtues being more important than anything else.
By the way, Jesus hung out with prostitutes, lepers and tax
collectors. The only people He spoke harshly to were the Pharisees,
who were obnoxious, religious, hypocritical Priests.
SkyeDS: all things that make ya go, HMMM.
evile: this is katies lj, yes?
SkyeDS: Debby's.
SkyeDS: I friended Katie but she hasn't friended me back.
evile: Oh, nevermind then. I don't even think I know her.
SkyeDS: actually very few of my HFS friends have friended me back.
SkyeDS: I don't think you do either.
SkyeDS: but she came to my rescue when everything went wrong at CRW
and I was down in the creek where I intended to stay until everyone
had left the event (overnight).
evile: Nice of her.
SkyeDS: very few people have seen the full brunt of my emotions, any
of them, and I think very few people would want to see them or could
withstand them. And she did.
evile: Still really weird that people would judge her based not on
her own behavior, but on her friends. That's just....bizarre.
SkyeDS: well, it is said lie down with dogs and get up with fleas
SkyeDS: and I do think you can tell a lot about someone by the people
they choose to hang with
evile: But presumably this is a person with a lot of diverse
interests & groups, so prety dumb to judge her based on 1-2 friends.
SkyeDS: I don't know who it was. Other than, it must be someone who
knows us personally.
SkyeDS: while you could glean from my reference to ritual that I"m
pagan
SkyeDS: nowhere do I say I'm poly.
evile: and dependin gon how recently she changed her LJ to 'friends
only, someone on her friends list.
SkyeDS: the comment was made to the LJ that she keeps for the sake of
posting writing
evile: Ask Mouser about his fun time when a friend ws going thru
divorce & child custody and Mouser's interests list was used against
his friend....
SkyeDS: :(
SkyeDS: I have no doubt if [sineater's mom] thought herself provoked she would
use the skyclad practice of the streghe to take my child away.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: even though I personally don't practice that way
SkyeDS: prehistoric texas dinoskeeters and fire ants
evile: yup
SkyeDS: the LJ it got posted to, apparently, was danika_wylfpawe
SkyeDS: I don't know if she deleted it or not, I would assume she did
SkyeDS: I would have.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: the Republican party would be much better served if it
weren't so dogmatic about religion and social engineering
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: the Democratic party would be much better served if it
weren't so fiscally irresponsible.
evile: that's exactly what I told Jinx.
SkyeDS: and the Libertarian party, bless its heart, needs to stop
running fruitcakes
evile: hehe. true dat!
SkyeDS: although Professor Badnarik of UT certainly is better on
paper than Harry Browne was.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I can't believe I'm the only fiscal conservative/social
liberal out there.
evile: I don't think you are.
SkyeDS: one of my friends online wants to start his own party and
call it the mind your own business and stay out of my shit party
SkyeDS: I told him I wanted to be the party's first nominee to the
SC :)
evile: there ya go.
evile: I went to the library on Wednesday & looked for a copy of fat
flush--all checked out. But I did get a book by the same author on
perimenopause. Looked thru it last night. I think I will give some of
her suggestions a try.
SkyeDS: she certainly seems to have done her research
SkyeDS: she also writes for ivillage.com
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: if that's not blocked at work
evile: nope. it's just got a bazillion popups everytime you go there.
which is annoying.
SkyeDS: I'm going to have to completely throw everything in my
kitchen out, and spend serious money restocking. But it will be
worth it. I just have to find the time to do it.
evile: sineater, sonar0m could always eat what you don't?
SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: I'm thinking of giving them some cabinets and saying ok,
everything you eat that I can't goes in there
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I'm not so bad that it has to be out of the house
SkyeDS: but out of sight, yes
evile: *nod* And make sure that there's a few things on hand that you
can just grab & eat without damaging hte diet.
SkyeDS: definitely. both fat flush and zone require two snacks a day
evile: that is always my downfall...sure, could cook
something 'legal' if I'mhungry, but what is there to just snack on.
SkyeDS: I did really well on Atkins when I had pork rinds and beef
jerky around to snack on
SkyeDS: and summer sausage and cheese
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I've been learning something about cortisol, adrenaline and
insulin since one of our docs is an endocrinologist specializing in
thyroid
SkyeDS: so there is something to this cortaslim stuff
SkyeDS: Sears and Gittelman mention it in their plans
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: anyone with taurus strong in their chart needs to watch their
thyroid anyway
SkyeDS: you, me, my mom
SkyeDS: for example
evile: I kinda looked at some corta-wahtever pills, various
proprietary formulas, trying to find out what ingredients they had in
common. I'd prefer to take the least amount of stuff possible to get
the effect I want.
SkyeDS: right
SkyeDS: I'm not looking at cortaslim, but I am looking at two cort
blockers on www.netrition.com
evile: I'm still looking.
SkyeDS: oh one has feverfew in it. cool.
SkyeDS: I need to look at migrahealth but I'd bet you anything it has
both feverfew and magnesium in it.
SkyeDS: both emmenogogues, and also good for cramps and migraines
both.
evile: *nod*
evile: I absolutely refuse to take premarin, EVER. I'd rather die.
SkyeDS: that's pms med made from pregnant mare urine isn't it?
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I don't take pms med at all
evile: also used for menopause symptoms.
SkyeDS: never worked for me, ever
SkyeDS: all it did was make me sleep the pain off
SkyeDS: I could drink and do that.
evile: you're probably already estrogen dominant, so premarin just
made it worse...
SkyeDS: never took that.
SkyeDS: meant otc stuff like midol and whatnot
SkyeDS: I know that progest only made me menopausal, I have to have a
full pill
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: big band music with lunch, yum :)
evile: fun.
SkyeDS: zone meals, 4.29 ea
evile: wow.
SkyeDS: lean cuisine, sineater shies at those, they're like 3 ea in the
store
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I may have to do my own shopping or he'll freak
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: my favorite taco stand now does "breakfast in a box" = tacos
no tortilla
evile: cool.
SkyeDS: check this out: www.homebistro.com
evile: holy cow. looks yummy, but pretty $pendy
SkyeDS: ya
evile: stuff like that is why it boggles my mind htat there are any
fat celebs.
evile: If I had the money for a personal trainer, chef-delivered
food, there's no way I'd be fat.
SkyeDS: amen
SkyeDS: that's why Rush lost so much weight, he hired a chef to do
nothing but cook low carb
evile: In home gym, spa, massage therapists making house calls,
doctors who would actually listen to me and help me take care of my
problems, and at the last ditch, plastic surgeons with fat-sucking
machinery...
SkyeDS: that fat sucking surgery hurts don't it?
evile: yeah, and destroys small blood vessels.
evile: It would definitely not be my first option, even if I could
afford it & had a doctor I liked.
evile: Plus, if you dont' modify your health habits, you end up
gaining the weight back in new, different places.
SkyeDS: that's a "here's your sign" thing, I would think
evile: Apparently Kenny Rogers got it sucked out of his gut and then
when he gained weight again, since he had no fat cells in his gut
anymore, he got huge tits.
SkyeDS: rofl
evile: and you *do* need some fat stores in the areas where you have
them, to protect your organs. Getting them sucked out is probably bad
in the long term, regardless of cosmetic benefits.
evile: I think Liposuction to us is like tapeworms to the Victorians--
really distasteful last-ditch effort where the cure is almost worse
than the malady.
SkyeDS: ew
evile: had to fit into those corsets somehow...
evile: I think if nobody wants to go to Casa de Luz with me tonight,
I'll go grocery shopping and call it a night instead.
SkyeDS: wish i knew what damn time to be in south houston tomorrow
SkyeDS: alvin it is
evile: Usually SCA is so good about posting details like that for
people...
SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: *and* I've requested it on a list twice
evile: well, it was bound to happen sooner or later: 1 flake in
SCA. :P
SkyeDS: Randy's wife Karen thinks we're flakes for being poly and
pagan
evile: or it could be that they've been doing it the same way for so
many years, tehy just ASSume that everyone knows when/where
everything is.
SkyeDS: I quietly point out to her that Randy's parents still think t
hat the SCA itself is a cult.
evile: Well, randy's wife is entitled to her opinion, no real point
in dealing with her other than on a polite superficial level, anyway,
right?
SkyeDS: right
SkyeDS: but I find humor in her pov
SkyeDS: all she cares about is her precious peerage
SkyeDS: as far as I can tell, she doesn't DO anything else, she
doesn't fight, she doesn't do A&S, nada
SkyeDS: and she wouldn't be a peer if she weren't married to Randy
evile: I imagine lots of people get into SCA (or any hobby, really)
and lose sight of the larger picture.
SkyeDS: just funny for a renny to be calling another renny weird
SkyeDS: particularly when she bitches about Randy's parents calling
SCA a cult
evile: *shrug* her SCA tittles, her opinion, and $1.50 will get her a
cup of coffee at Katz's.
SkyeDS: hehe
SkyeDS: I said something about bardic and a/s the other day, and she
hauled off like the expert she thinks she is on everything and
said, "but you don't DO bardic/A&S"
SkyeDS: I looked at her and said, as a matter of fact, I do try to
make bardic when I'm not too tired
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and I COULD compete either bardic OR a&s if I wanted to, I
just don't
SkyeDS: for the same reason I don't COMPETE equestrian
SkyeDS: I don't like competing.
SkyeDS: just because I don't do something, don't ASSume I can't.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I have a fuckload of talent that has squat to do with the
horses and the bird, th ank you.
evile: yup.
evile: I guess you'll just have to put up with her for the sake of
your friendship w/Randy. It's always kinda suck when you like one
person in a couple and don't really care for the other one,but it can
be done.
SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: brb
evile: OK
evile: well, time for me to get gone.
SkyeDS: hugs on way past lol
evile: I hope you have a fun weekend. *hugs*
SkyeDS: u 2 :)
