Well, I turn 55 next week. My aunt L. wants to take us to dinner to celebrate and I have to pick a place. I am just not feelin' it but I guess I need to pick *something*. bleh.

Mom is with sister H. at her house in Bloomington, IN.  Mom spends most of her time asleep, eating little, is starting to see people who arent' there ("Granny"? None of her grandmothers were called 'granny' as far as I know. but...?)  She may pass soon. Not to be cruel or unfeeling but she's been ready for a while, and tried in 2022 or was it 2023? anyway. I just want her to be at peace.

Mothers day is always a reminder that she didn't have the life she wanted, the love she wanted, or the accomplishments she wanted, largely due to having children. Me, mostly, I guess, the start of her disappointments in life.  Abortion was illegal when I was conceived. I don't think I'll ever forget or forgive a system that robbed a woman of her life and autonomy and forced her to parent a child she and her partner didn't want to have and into trying to force a life together, a partnership that was unsuited to both of them. They did their best and maybe at some point decided that it was OK to have me, maybe even that they wanted and liked me...but it wasn't their choice. It was forced on them by the fucking government. So happy belated Mother's day, I guess. Glad and grateful for my fucked up reproductive system and getting sterilized at age 34 so I didn't have to do the same.

Still job hunting.

Our friend S.  has settled in to the front room/tent room with her two cats. Her dog has run of the house. The dogs got the door open once and chased one of the cats into the work/computer room where she hid in the corner until my brother A. could get under there and get her out. It was a stressful mess. S.  wanted to just leave the cat's bed and some treats in the room until the cat chose to come out but I was thinking "OK, but where is it going to piss/shit???" so for me, it wasn't an option to leave the cat in my work room until it felt like coming out. S is being a good guest, spending a lot of time resting and watching tv/movies in her room. Her dog is getting along well with our dogs and has enjoyed joining our walk routine. S. occasionally comes out and does marathon talking but it's more movies and trivia now than the first days of trauma-dumping about her childhood and stuff.  She's been alone in her house for a year since her husband died; I'm trying to give her as much patience and kindness as I can manage. I can't imagine losing everyone and everything that matters to you in one fell swoop like she has.

It's gotten hot this week so we've been walking after supper instead of before.

My knees, back, left heel, and ankles are in pain just about all of the time now. I wear 'incrediwear' knee and ankle supports to bed for healing; I generally do wake up feeling more OK ish than when I dont' wear them to bed.

I've lost about 5 lbs in the last couple months. only 100+ more to go!LOLOLOLOL. not gonna happen.but I know that a great deal of my discomfort is due to carrying too much weight.

Our house is having plumbing issues. got a quote for 10K to fix it. The PVC piping used originally is not to current spec, it is weakening and sort of sagging. It's more of a flattened 0 shape rather than a round circle and will continue to collapse and crack until it's not useable and nothing goes through.  Part of the driveway needs to be dug up and repoured as well. Thax wants to get a couple more quotes before we make a decision but I suspect the work will need to be done sooner rather than later.

Anyhoo...

turns out that the position I was offered FT/Permanent in Feb (and turned down due to already accepting the 6 month remote contract that ended early, and had been beating myself up over endlessly bla bla ) was 'sunsetted' just after the 6 week training period was over. The options were to apply for other positions at the company, accept transfer to Accounts Receivable and after a 3 week 'try out' period, either be accepted full time in AR, or get a severance.

So I guess I'm glad I didn't go thru all that. I would have had some bux in the bank after 6 weeks of that fat salary but not enough to really justify or make up for being jerked around and played like that.

The job hunt continues and the  data analyst course continues as well. onward.

S. suggests I offer dogsitting for a couple of extra dogs and take cash as my next career....It's tempting but our backyard really isn't secure.

For my birthday/just cuz, I'm going to order a sample set from Maison des Animaux.

AurateThis is the classic amber. Sandalwood drenched, labdanum rich, vanilla sweetened. The most golden of gold fragrances.
BohemeBohème is lightly sweet, deep, warm, and unisex. It starts with labdanum, cinnamon, and toffee, and transforms into leather and a bit of smoldering pipe tobacco hovering above that perfect glass of bourbon. The drydown is a honied musk that is just delicious.
HolidayThe warm, honied musk of sun-kissed skin on a tropical beach. Solar and warm, subtle sweetness balanced with a warm hum of toasted coconut and spiced rum.
Le CirqueA riot of dark chocolate-covered espresso beans, toasted sugarcane, Mysore sandalwood, Haitian vetiver, and a puff off a Cuban cigar. This is a conversation over a late-night espresso that you never want to end. It is so fun, so rich, and entirely sexy.
Sirius : This is the sweetest Guatemalan cardamom, rare ruh khus vetiver, black keemun tea oil, and vanilla absolute from madagascar. Unisex and versatile, it starts bright and spicy and dries down into a warm, sweet, and rich woody musk. An olfactory cashmere sweater: warm, soft, a constant favorite.

Well, I'm not very good at being practical and saving my money for important things. I'm trying.  But a couple weeks ago I had a little sinking spell and decided to treat myself..... in my defense, Demeter was having a sale. I got the "Dark Flowers" sampler set. Plus two vanillas: Vanilla Bark  (pretty nice, comes off as kind of a sandalwood, dont' get much vanilla at all) and Hawaiian Vanilla (too much coconut and the vanilla is fake/chemically. too bad.)

I'm wearing 'Witching Hour' right now and it's gorgeous. Kind of an 'older woman out for a fancy occasion' sophisticated scent. Probably not a daily choice.

Witching Hour: Deep and sensual, without being at all too dark, this fragrance uses exotic ingredients - two kinds of Amber, Blood Orange, and Vanilla Orchid petals - to make this blend unique.

Dark Roses: Rose Water Tea, Thorny Stem Bulgarian Rose Petals, and Davana Blossom are topped with Red Currants and anchored by an earthy Patchouli, Dark Amber and Haitian Vetiver: a deep, dark swirl unlike anything else you have experienced in a Rose-inspired scent.

Vampire Blooms: Poisonous Belladonna, Dracula Orchid, and the Nicotiana plant form the deep, dark heart of this fragrance, rounded with peppery Maile Leaves and Ivy, smoothed and coordinated by a sheer veil of Madagascar Vanilla, White Musk and Mandarin Peel.

Transfixed: The sexy center of this fragrance revolves around Ylang Ylang and Red Poppies, grounded with Tobacco Leaves and Black Vanilla Bean, while taking flights of fancy with a frosty medicinal accord and powdery Coca Petals.

Mystical Blooms: Mystical Blooms is an enchanting fragrance with a core of Night Blooming Orchid and Crimson Dahlia, shrouded in a veil of elusive tobacco and musk notes. . Its top notes exude a hint of enigmatic spices, like Saffron, and unique fruity scents, like Bergamot and Fig Nectar, luring you into an ethereal journey.

As the scent develops, a sense of intrigue intensifies, drawing you deeper into its mysterious allure. Woods and musky undertones emerge, adding an aura of seductive secrecy. Like a moonlit garden under a starless sky, Mystical Blooms captivates with its enigmatic and haunting presence.

This fragrance is for those who embrace the unknown, seeking an olfactory adventure that transcends the boundaries of light and dark, revealing the magic that lies within the shadows. Mystical Blooms leaves an enigmatic trail, tempting others to unravel its secrets, but it remains an enigma, forever elusive and entrancing.

Shadow Flowers: Shadow Flowers is an enigmatic and alluring fragrance that exudes a mysterious and haunting charm. At its core, it embraces a delicate yet intoxicating blend of elusive dark blooms, including Jasmine, Sambac, and fiery Tuberose Absolute, all shrouded in an air of darkness.

The fragrance opens with ethereal wisps of misty dew-kissed sparkling peach and Orange Blossom, evoking the sensation of wandering through a moonlit garden under the cover of night. As it develops, an aura of intrigue deepens with a touch of Patchoui and an Amber accord, adding an alluring complexity to the floral bouquet.

Shadow Flowers captivates with its unique duality, both dark and light, tender and mysterious. It represents the beauty found in the hidden corners of the world, evoking a sense of fascination and wonder.

This fragrance is for those who embrace the enigma of life, seeking a scent that transcends the ordinary and reveals the allure of the unknown. With Shadow Flowers, you'll leave a hauntingly elegant impression, a trail of mesmerizing allure that lingers long after you've passed, inviting others to be drawn into your captivating world of shadows and blooms.

Ominous Mist: Ominous Mist is an intriguing and evocative fragrance that transports you to a realm of mystery and intrigue. At its heart, it entwines a blend of dark notes with bursts of brightness, reminiscent of a dense mist cloaking a hidden forest on a moonless night. Within this enigmatic mist, whispers of Sandalwood, Cedar and a fantasy wood accord create a sense of eerie serenity.

The fragrance opens with a burst of Black Raspberry, Mandarin Orange and Blood Orange, capturing the essence of the mist as it embraces you in its ethereal embrace. As it evolves, hints of aromatic Jasmine and Orange Blossom add depth and complexity to the atmospheric blend.

Ominous Mist encapsulates the allure of the unknown, offering a captivating olfactory journey that dares you to explore and embrace the enigmatic. It is a fragrance for those who embrace their inner darkness, finding beauty in the mysterious and uncharted territories of life.

Haunted Souls: Haunted Souls is an evocative fragrance that delves into the depths of emotions and memories, capturing the essence of souls that linger in the realm of the living. At its core, it intertwines a blend of dark and introspective notes, embodying a deep, melancholic symphony of Patchouli, Smoky Myrrh and Leather.

The fragrance opens with a touch of mystery, like wisps of ethereal mist of Bergamot, Saffron and Coco Blossom, rising from forgotten graves, setting the stage for an immersive olfactory experience. As it evolves, delicate whispers of Midnight Jasmine and Tuberose emerge, adding a sense of nostalgia and timeless elegance.

Haunted Souls encapsulates the essence of introspection and the haunting beauty found in the depths of the human spirit. It is a fragrance for those who embrace their emotions, exploring the shadows of their souls with grace and courage.

Satyr Fragrance Oil   Satyr is a blend of patchouli, amber, vanilla, cinnamon, and cedar. It is a wonderfully seductive scent, flirty and flexible enough to be worn by anyone. For some, the sweet vanilla and amber are the focal point of the blend. On others, the deep spice of patchouli and cedar are the most prominent scents.

It smells like none of that.  I can't really decide what it smells like. Something green?  Not great. I layered some Demeter "Riding Crop" over it and that made it smell good. But still...none of that. Just kind of a general soapy sort of scent.

Oberon Fragrance Oil
Oberon is one of the blends in our special Midsummer Nights Dream Collection. A scent befitting the King of the Fairies, Oberon is a special blend of Orange Blossom, Earth, Amber, Cinnamon, Cedar and Campfire.

another miss.  I can smell maybe the orange?

And, because I can't resist AmberBathe yourself in the warm, rich, earthy, honey-sweet scent of Amber. Nothing smells quite as luxuriously decadent as Amber. An exotic, ancient scent found among vikings, romans, celts, baltic tribes and bedouin nomads. Amber is a resin based scent that is rich, warm, sweet, and full bodied.

This one is pretty heavy on the balsam. Smells like christmas tree. Not terrible but missing the sweetness I usually associate with Amber.

I also got their Carnation for my friend J-Law.  Hopefully it's good. Carnations are her favorite flower.

evile: (lamson)
So I had ordered this 'discovery set'  a while back.

From the fragrance description I thought I'd really love 11:11. I was expecting ambery and soft, I got ozone and 'clean'....like detergent and/or window cleaner, slightly oceanic. not for me. "The best selling, 2x award-winning blend of musk and white ambers."...not so much.

I then tried Midnight 07 - "An alluring, fruity fragrance balancing 07 key notes including yuzu, amber, vetiver, rose, fig, vanilla and patchouli."  Sophisticated, very classic almost vintage perfume scent. A 'date night' type scent. Very grown up. I liked it very much but something in it gave me a headache. I suspect vetiver.

This morning, after my shower, I tried Cote Du Paradis - "A sweet and uplifting scent inspired by sunny beach days with notes of palo santo, almond, and tonka bean. " - initial impression was almost a suntan lotion type scent, then settles down to the vanilla/almond kind of scent, then *poof* gone.

Finally, we have Saffron Dusk " Dark florals, spicy woods and a musky cool. A blend of saffron, pepper, neroli, rose and vetiver. ".... initial impression : this is pee.   second impression: okay, not pee. Just ferrets.  and some kind of floor cleaner, or something.

so, nope.

I'm liking Bath & Body Works "Moonlit Graveyard" ...I went there this past weekend and the Halloween stuff was almost gone. Most of the halloween scents were  fruity and vanilla-y and not great. But Moonlit Graveyard is a pleasant, amber musk that I like pretty well. I got the room spray.

And I got a copal & opoponax spray from hexeh that is nice. Not enough copal. But soft and velvety and sweet and woody.

And I should probably stop spending money on scents...

African Rooibos by Chris Collins

A warm wind carries the scent of rooibos leaves and cedar off the South African mountains. Spicy black pepper and warm cardamom speak to a multidimensional personality, while bright bergamot brings life to the blend. I

It’s a scent with effortless charisma that feels like being comfortable in your skin.

Top Notes: Bergamot, Cardamom, Black Pepper

Heart Notes: Rooibos tea accord, Orris Butter

Base Notes: Cedarwood, Tonka bean, Immortelle flower Absolute

Måd by ånd fragrance

Flor Y Canto

On the most fragrant festival in the Aztec calendar, the rhythm of drums palpitates as a wealth of flowers is offered on temple altars. Billowing clouds of Copalact as a backdrop to the intoxicating breath of Tuberose, Magnolia, Plumeria and the intensely yellow aroma of the sacred Marigold, Cempoalxochitl.

Natural, opulent & explosive.

Top Notes: Mexican Acacia, Marigold and Crushed leaf accents

Heart notes: Tuberose Absolute, Magnolia grandiflora and Red & White plumeria

Base Notes: Copal (Mexican Incense), Benzoin and Mexican Vanilla Bean

Jazmin Yucatan by D.S. & Durga

Jungle, humidity, snake plants, jazmín yucateco, crocodile by the cenote, shaded temple, limestone ruins.

Entering the interior of the Yucatan peninsula is a journey inwards. The vast beauty of the coast is far behind. Once-thriving cities are preserved in russet orange limestone ruins. Overgrown green vines and dark grasses swallow temples back into the jungle. Fruits hang heavy in the foliage like the humid air of the Yucatan–redolent of jungle flowers. Crocodiles hunt in the cool waters of cenotes. Natives burn copal resin-used for hundreds of years or more, it reminds us of holy ceremonies. The jasmine plants speak of animalic powder, a shocking complex aroma–like spotting the pattern of a jaguar among a monotony of green vegetation.

Top Notes: Water, Passion flower, Bergamot

Heart Notes: Jasmin yucateco, Sambac, Clove

Base Notes: S nake plant, Vetiver, Copal

The lIttle Book eater  "We have always lived in the castle

This fragrance is inspired by the unsettling mystery novel by Shirley Jackson. Made with the scents of black coffee, nutmeg, sugared blackberries (no arsenic included!), sandalwood, and smoke. Fruity, dark, smoky, and musty. Reminiscent of walking through town, dining at Blackwood Manor, and house fires. The perfect combination for poetic introversion and finding happiness in strange and fantastical things!

Fragrance Note(s): Black Coffee • Nutmeg • Sugared Blackberries • Sandalwood • Smoke
Scent Categories: Fruity • Smoky • Musty

“Fate intervened. Some of us, that day, she led inexorably through the gates of death. Some of us, innocent and unsuspecting, took, unwillingly, that one last step to oblivion. Some of us took very little sugar.” — from We Have Always Lived in the Castle, by Shirley Jackson

and

Demeter "Fireplace

Demeter has captured a small part of the fireplace tradition, with the wonderful, cozy comforting scent of the fireplace on a cold winter’s eve. It smells exactly like your sweater after sitting for hours in front of a wood fire.

By George Matthew Adams
I shall try to make myself like an open fireplace, so that people may be warmed and cheered by it…

by itself, 'we have always lived in the castle' is more fruity than any of the other notes listed. "Fireplace"  helps the smoke element so that everything is more balanced and less purely gourmand.

I've been transcribing my old personal journal into my dreamdiwth again, had some downtime at work this week, so it seemed like a good time to work on it. I used to be so busy and I used to get so much done, even with friends and dinners out and renfaires and bellydance shows and this and that...these days I don't have that many 'spoons', just the thought of doing more than one or two things in a day is exhausting, and I see people other than my household ....once a month, if that.  I think I'm really ready to go be a hermit in the jungle.

The weekend is here and yet again I have no solid plans to do anything or go anywhere. Some vague sense that I *should* have plans, go somewhere, do something,  but very little actual want to do.
evile: (cruise)
I tried this one in the duty free 'shopping gauntlet' in Cozumel. It was nice. Started out kind of grassy and melon-y and ended up smelling very much like 'white linen'. Nice, not my usual style, but worked well in the heat and humidity.  Disappeared on my skin pretty quickly, though.

evile: (mask)
I was feeling  a little bit of 'event drop' on our way home from the cruise on Friday so when I saw an ad for Nui Cobalt Designs perfumes  roll across my facebook, I browsed the website and ordered myself a few samples. They arrived today! Very fast!  They also sent a freebie sample with the 4 I ordered.

~ Bee Kind to Yourself ~
A tender potion for self-care, soothing, and gentle replenishment.
White copal, blooming peony, honeyed tea, pink amber, and sheer summer-weight cashmere.
Anoint your pulse points to ease tension and cultivate calm.
Creative credit and gratitude to the lovely K.M.V. who proposed this scent concept via Reddit’s Indie Makeup & More forum.

4/19 - soapy floral. fades quickly to a barely-there sweet and clean. It's OK. I don't love it.  I'm just going to have to go back to Belize to get the copal soap I loved, if I want a good copal scent on myself.

~ Goth Club 2023 ~
It was the Darkness that was dancing; I just rode its wake.
Fog machine, clove cigarettes, sweet patchouli, skin-warmed leather, myrrh resin , Cabernet, scarlet musk, and the well-worn wood of the dance floor.

I put this one on first. It sounded so delicious. and it *is*. This is a heavy, delicious fragrance. Nothing stands out particularly, just a smooth, deep, night time scent.Feels ancient, classic, sophisticated. Maybe just a little too adult, not a daily driver type scent. Still, I love it.

~ Mnemophilia ~
Old chests filled with sepia photographs, a veil of chantilly lace, the brittle pages of a diary, and the patina of relentless time.
Stately gardenia, antique sandalwood, Florentine iris, pearl musk, jasmine absolute, neroli, and liquidambar.
Wear to connect with ancestral guides, to access genetic memory, and to retrieve what's been forgotten.

~Roll Initiative~
A gently enlivening scent to wake you up and set the mind astir. It imparts a balanced sense of calm clarity so that you feel well-rested, focused, and alert. Egyptian cotton, pale driftwood, white pepper, green cardamom, and a slender wisp of copal smoke.

& this was my freebie:

~ The Bees' Cotillion ~
So fancy! This ebullient blend evokes mirth and merriment to highlight your most endearing qualities. Succulent pears simmering in spring honey with the gentlest breeze of lily carried in a homespun infusion of honeysuckle flowers.

4/18 - tried this one next. Overwhelming honey and fruit to start, rather unpleasant, headache-inducing sweetness. Scent turns to an overly sweet caramel, then mellows  to a  generic sweet gourmand/floral sort of thing. Not a favorite.

but darkened with the vampiric sensuality
of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, and a skin-light
pulse of feral musk.

LEX TALIONIS -- The law of retaliation and perfect reciprocity: an
eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, an arm for an arm, a life for a
life. The essence of blunt justice: dark myrrh, vetiver, cardamom,
violet, black pepper, sage, cedarwood and black patchouli with a
clarion note of sharp white grapefruit.

HELL'S BELLE -- Sweet, smoky and sensually wicked. A thick, steamy
scent, truly sinister in its voluptuous sexuality. The perfume of a
demon's favored consort, or of the devil herself. Oleander with
wet, sweet mandarin, lush magnolia, a rush of deep musk and a touch
of spice.

MATA HARI-- A renowned exotic dancer and courtesan, possessed of
aristocratic elegance, matchless charm, an iron will and a streak of
fearlessness. The actual events of her life have met with much
speculation, and to this day it is unclear whether or not she was
truly a German spy. Despite shaky evidence of her guilt, she was
tried for espionage by a closed court-martial and was executed by a
French firing squad in 1917. Her scent is striking and bold with a
delicate yet dark undertone: five roses with soft jasmine, warmed by
vanilla, fig, tonka bean and mahogany, spiced with a drop of coffee
bean.

PERVERSION -- The perfect scent to wear to your next bondage ball,
dungeon adventure or sojourn to your favorite pleasure dome. Smoky
rum and black tobacco with a whisper of steamy leather with a splash
of crystalline chardonnay, layered over a sensual, sweet, and
deceptively magnetic base of tonka.

The day ended rather nicely with quick ICQ from onyxlynxx, and a longer
one with her friend Gev. Apparently I should be on silverchat.

Got Marca's Ferret Tarot in the mail today, also my bat dichroic
glass earrings & dichroic martini pendant, also my silver bracelets
from aliyas closet, along with a very pretty, but cheap, sparkly ring
which broke as I was taking it off.

I also got a CD rom from Cirque du Soleil which I can't install or
use because I don't have enough memory. FOO!!! Varekai will be in
Austin in March, 2005. too cool!

Now I just ordered from Black Phoenix Alchemy, samples of 6 of their
    dark,evil, freaky gothic fragrances:

BLOOD AMBER -- Slivers of warm, pulsating blood forever crystallized
    in golden amber resin.

BLOOD KISS -- Lush, creamy vanilla and the honey of the sweetest kiss
smeared with the vital throb of husky clove, swollen red cherries,
but darkened with the vampiric sensuality
of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, and a skin-light

they just came out with 6 perfumes. I got all 6. at $3 a pop, that's
    not too bad...

    #1
With the sweetness of citrus and lychee, the elegance of jasmine and
lily of the valley, and the sensuality of musk and warm sandalwood,
Fragrance 001 is a dynamic scent that personifies woman's depth and
her multifaceted beauty. The perfect everyday, any occasion fragrance

    #2
This scent invites you closer with the charming innocence of mint,
cassis, and peach, then captures you with the irresistible allure of
rose, jasmine, and spice. Equally refined and rebellious, this
remarkable scent blends the playfulness of youth with the confidence
    of experience

    #3
This scent is for the woman who revels in the freshness of morning
air and the touch of grass beneath her feet. It combines invigorating
citrus with the healing aroma of maté tea, then evolves into rich,
comforting notes of laurel, lemongrass, vanilla, and cinnamon

    #4
The most delicate fragrance of our collection, Fragrance 004 evokes
the feeling of walking through a cottage garden. Redolent citrus,
spicy herb, iris, and musk surround in a comforting embrace of
freshness and romance, warmth and grace. This fragrance does not
overpower, so it can be worn everyday to accentuate a feeling of soft
    beauty

    #5
This scent weaves precious notes of fruit, jasmine, lily of the
valley, and Bengal rose into a song about femininity. This beautiful
scent evokes a golden age of sophistication, when glamour and
refinement were as important as strength and independence. A classic
    and timeless fragrance.

    #6
For the woman with boundless energy and true joie de vivre, we offer
this fresh and exhilarating scent. Fragrance 006 is an instant spirit-
lifter, blending robust notes of Japanese citrus with vibrant
florals. A hint of moss adds a touch of earthy sensuality

I think I will like #2 best and #5 second best.
I think I will probably not like #6 or #3 much.
    We'll see!

    How was your Thanksgiving?

I am not excited about work today. Apparently neither
are my coworkers 5 of 8 are not in today. So,
naturally, big boss is freaking right on out about how
we need to work hard and telling us that if she
catches us online when it's not breaktime, she's gonna
    have our internet deleted.

    wackjob.

Anyhoo...back to the salt mines. I am 4 minutes past
    break time.

    I hate this job.

I dreamt about working with young, cool people in this
wierd cement building. Andrew called me and said
things with Amber hadn't worked out, so he was in
Austin & wanted to go out for sushi. It was a
sad/wierd dream. Perhaps my subconscious is drawing a
paralell between me sticking with my shitty job and
Andrew settling for a crappy woman. Hm.

Went back to ULTA to get that plum eyeshadow I tried on Friday. On a
whim, I had emailed A to ask if she wanted to go and surprisingly,
she said yes. So we went to Ulta. She didn't try on anything or open
anything or sniff anything...she is very passive. Wonder what kind of
awful childhood/life she's had to make her so non-curious, non-
      initiative-taking, even about fun stuff?

      Sad.

I put 'il bacio'on her and she liked it. I also bought her a set of
      makeup brushes.

I ordered some Florida Water stuff from empress-secrets.com, after
reading that Florida Water smells like Cinnamon. Well...it doesn't.

But it's not bad. I ordered the perfume spray, the shampoo & the
conditioner, and they sent me the soap free. That was pretty nice
    of 'em.

The ingredient list says it contains the essential oils of the
following: Lavender, Bergamot, Cinnamon, Clove, and Peppermint.

The perfume spray goes on and smells very lavendery-at first. Then it
mellows out and ends up smelling kind of woodsy, like a very light
cedar fragrance. Wierd. But no cinnamon. Ah well. The spray wears off
pretty quickly, but the shampoo/conditioner is sticking with me. I
like the way it smells anyway, and I like the 'magical' connotations
    of the oils:

    LAVENDER = Air/Mercury
    Part(s) used: Flowers
    Love, Protection and Purification
Burn to induce a restful sleep, place on the pillow or temples for a
restful sleep, use as a bath to purify and cleanse, or burn for the
same reason. Long ago, it was believed if you carried this, you
    would see ghosts.

    BERGAMOT = Earth/Jupiter
Part(s) used: Root, Tops and Leaves
    Money, Prosperity
Use the oil of this herb in attracting money. Carry a sachet with you
to the Bingo parlor for luck in winning!

    CINNAMON = Fire/Sun
    part(s) used: Bark
Protection, Healing, Love, Passion and Money wishes.
Burn to promote clairvoyance and protection, Add to other appropriate
money herbs for an excellent boost, wear an amulet for passion
in men, and mix with other appropriate healing herbs to add energy
    and quickness to healing.

    CLOVE = Fire/Sun
    Part(s) used: Flowery Tops
    Repelling Negative Influences.
Worn or carried to repel negative energies around you, carried with
other appropriate herbs for mental clarity, added with other
herbs also for attracting love. Also, said to protect babies in their
cribs if hung over them strung together.

PEPPERMINT = Air/Venus (Also associated with the element of Fire. )
    Part(s) used: The whole Herb
Purification, Healing, Sleep, Some Love and Prosperity Wishes
Burn the herb in a new home to clear out all negative sickness
energies. Carry with other herbs for boosting
love and abundance. Place on person or their picture for haste in
healing. Also used when changes are needed in ones life, gives the
added push needed. Also used in a tea to help ease tensions.
