& a little something for the humbugs:

A Viking-Asatru Christmas Carol

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the Hall
Not a creature was stirring, not warrior nor thrall.
And I in my armor, my greaves and my helm
Was drunker than anyone else in the Realm.

I staggered upstairs and fell into bed
While four quarts of mead were ablaze in my head.
Then up from below came the sounds of a brawl
So I grabbed up my axe and ran down to the Hall.

I missed the last step and crashed down in a heap
Thinking, “Why can’t those low-lifes downstairs go to sleep!”
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But two brawny strangers, wielding mallet and spear.

I said to myself, “We’ll soon have them beat!”
Then I noticed ten warriors laid out at their feet.
I gave out a yell and leapt into the fray…
I’ll always regret my poor choice of that day.

For the one laid his hammer to the side of my nose
And up, up, up to the rafters I rose.
Then came a lone frightened voice from the floor,
“Those are no mortal warriors — that’s Odin and Thor!”

Then they looked at each other and they said, “Battle’s done.
Now they know who we are, it no longer is fun.”
Then Thor raised his hammer, and his elbow he bent,
And with a loud crash, through the ceiling they went.

I crawled through the Hall and flung open the door,
Not really sure that I’d seen them before.
The snow bathed in starlight, the moon like a glede,
I saw them ride off on an eight-legged steed.

And I heard them exclaim, ‘ere they flew out of sight,

but instead I made a template in Polyvore. Other people's templates give more freedom on placing images within the 'place holders'...I need to get that figured out. But, still, I'm kinda pleased with myself. Read more... )

I was looking for some good images of Amy Brown's "Attitude Fairy"for costume ideas for this weekend at faire, and found this website.

OMG, these are gorgeous.

OTOH, I would NOT use this figure as a groom on *my* wedding cake. It looks like he'd rather be anywhere but on top of a cake with a GIRL. Poor fairy boy. (Then again, the bride figurine looks like she's about to sneak poison into his drink, so I'd be unhappy to marry her, too.)

(Now HERE's my idea of a good wedding cake topper. Only the bride bat needs a tiny white veil and the groom bat needs a tiny itty bitty top hat. heehee! :P)

Thomas Dolby is 50 today! A musical genius, a Steampunk before Steampunk even existed, and an adorable geek-boy.

I wish many more happy days for you, Mr. Dolby.

Post a picture in my comments of what you think describes me when you think about what/who I am.

Give no written explanation though. Just an image.

Copy and paste into your own journal and see what others think about you in pictures!

such as gymrats and gym goths and came across this link.

Women athletes. Very inspiring :)

I am liking the 5'11" 170 lb look.

I can probably manage the 170...but I can't quite get the hang of how to be five inches taller (without the use of shoes!).
