11/22

Last night the instructor (Alan?) was talking with one of the
students (Jessica? Angelica? ??) apparently they were commisserating
over recent breakups with their respective SOs. Alan said his ex was
very possessive and he was looking forward to having a life again.

It was a good class. Ab drills went much better than in the past. We
did kicks & some low punches. I was complimented on my flexibility :)
I talked w/the instructor about yoga a bit after class. That was cool.

[Cousin B] was distant and uncommunicative. I think probably stoned when I
got him, and coming down/tired after class. boring. Apparently there
is no guilt or bad feeling, so 'wierd' did not mean 'regret'. So
that's good.
Hopefully things will get back to normal soon.

When I woke up this morning, I was dreaming about Margaret Cho, she
had given birth to 2 ligers and was with them in their exhibit in a
zoo or disney or someplace. Something about teps. "I just wanna fly"
was the song playing in my head when I woke up.

[Aunt L] called after I wrote this and asked to borrow some beading
tools. I will take them over today when I get [Cousin B] for the full moon
gathering (looks like it's not gonna be much of a gathering. Me and
[Cousin B], Elena's got a class, Maggiemaepisces rsvpd but I don't think she can get up
the hill, Eric B said he has a class and might show up later. feh.)

Anyway, she said she was sorry [Cousin B] had pooped out on me. I told her I
should have gone and I was mad at myself for being so dependent on
others to motivate myself and she was all like 'you can always go by
yourself another time' and I got (irrationally) angry and said "no,
no I can't. The reason I have Krav scheduled certain times is because
I'm busy the other nights" and then she backpedaled and said she
meant I could go twice on the nights I'm available (um, no).. it just
made me mad. She had no business apologizing on [Cousin B]'s behalf. She has
no business enabling him to be a worthless piece of crap like Uncle Bubba
and [brother A]. I HATE to see it. HATE it. But there's fuck-all I can do if
[Cousin B] has decided to be unreliable, lazy, and worthless, and nothing I
can do to keep [Aunt L] from encouraging/enabling/pandering to it.

God damn it. It just makes me sick and sad.

And I'm still fucking mad at myself for not going to class on my own.

wasn't so bad last night. We did really basic stuff, worked on
fighting stance & punching, did more 'breaking a choke' drills, did
360 defense, which I felt wasn't explained as well as the first time
we learned it, but otherwise we went pretty slow and easy this class.
[Cousin B] wasn't very enthralled, but I was glad of it.

Then we went walking and his lighter didn't work, so he didn't smoke
up. I was glad of that.

He agreed to be sober when I let him do some practice-driving after he
gets his permit. I may let him do some before that. That would be
    cool-cousiny of me.

[Aunt L] says I"m not supposed to be a disciplinarian in his life, I'm
supposed to be his bud, so I guess I'll immerse myself in that role.

We seem to be on good terms now. I hope so.

[Cousin B] got suspended for a day and a half, for being out in the hall
without a hall pass, but mostly for being defiant and using foul
language. [Aunt L] took him out and bought him a new CD and a ticket to
the Nov 12 CKY show while he was out of school. She was mad at him,
mostly for speaking disrspectfully to an adult, but then she
basically rewards him for it. argh.

If he was in my house, he would NOT have been going anywhere while at
home on suspension, would NOT have a new CD and would DEFINITELY not
be going to a show anytime soon.

But I'm not the parent here, so I don't have anything to say about it.

I got a book called 'smart boys' from the library about gifted boys
and how to raise them to be happy, well adjsuted, etc. The section
about "The Mothers Companion" really rang true for me; I think a lot
of his conflict with his mom happened when he went from being her
companion, confidant, helper, to wanting his own life & friends and
interests. And I definitely think he needs more adult males in his
life, because he really craves father love, even if he doesn't admit
    it. *sigh*

We were not each others partner in Krav class last night, he went off
with another guy and I went off with Sara, the only other girl in
class. He said he got a lot more out of the class, got a really good
workout, was very sweaty and endorphiny after class. oddly, I didn't
get as much as usual. Oh well. It's all good. I still got a good
workout. The fact I can get thru it without being completely blown is
    a good sign.

[Aunt L] took us to Mandarin House for dinner afterwards. [Cousin B] was spacey
and didn't eat much. I know that feeling. :)

[Uncle B] drove me home [[Aunt L] had picked me up directly from work, we went
to Tina, then to Krav. I gave [Cousin B] my Tina appointment, my hair hadn't
grown out much since the emergency repair cut at the mall] and I gave
[Cousin B] a piece of black tourmaline for his litle rock bag he's going to
    start wearing around his neck.

I still need to dye my hair. back to natural for the fall/winter.
Maybe forever. For the job hunt. *sigh*

I really love these earrings. I get compliments on

I've gotten the cast of the musical down to 20 very
(!!) talented people with double and triple and
    4/5/6 casting.
They all have to sing, dance and act. Impossible
here, but who knows what might happen to it out in

Actually, we do have women who can belly dance and
Deb Grammel and her ballet students are very talented.
I think yoiu can learn the can-can and I know you can
learn to square dance. I just discovered this guy
who plays the fiddle like crazy and could do the part of
the old timer and play the fiddle for the ho-down.
What is a ho-down, exactly, and how do you spell it?
Hoe down, like put your tools down and relax, or ho
    down like...?

[G/ dad]'s up. gotta get to work. Love, Mom
    ====================================

are the two pieces the same size? I'm having a hard time picturing
what you're trying to do. if the replacement peice is glued to
something metal, try gently heating the metal to soften the glue, and
then prying the mother of pearl up. Or maybe a bit of acetone nail
polish remover? Just go slow & gentle, whatever you do.

I think it's 'hoe down', like put the hoe down and dance. :) I don't
think people started using 'ho' for 'whore' until much later.

sineater's bday is tomorrow. I don't know what to do or say right now.
He's mad at me because of something skye_ds' ex boyfreind did or
said...it's crazy, and I'm pretty sure that if I try to say "look,
you can't hold me responsible for the actions/words of others" it
will somehow just prove my "guilt" in his mind...so I love him, but I
just can't participate in the crazy. I guess it's better for him to
be united with skye_ds in fighting a 'common enemy' than it is for her
to be keeping him up all night screaming at him for imaginary
offenses he's made against her...I just wish I wasn't the 'common
enemy' especially since I didn't have the satisfaction/enjoyment of
actually doing or saying anything against them!

*sigh* other than that, life is good. The play and Halloween on 6th
St. Monday was fun. We had dinner with friends first, yummy home
    cooking at Hoover's.

Tuesday [Cousin B] and I went to Krav Maga. I know you don't approve of
violence, but it's really good for him to get his frustrations out
against an inanimate object & to have positive interactions with
adult men (nothing can totally make up for having an absent father,
but he craves approval from father figures & needs male role models,
whether he realizes it or not) and my cardio health & muscle tone has
improved considerably since we started. Plus we get that nice
endorphin rush from working out so hard. Natural antidepressants!

Last night I went to poly dinner at Central Market, had a nice visit
with my friends, and was asked to be the new poly dinner coordinator!
It sounds fancy, but basically it's me taking restaurant suggestions
for the weekly dinner meet-ups from the group. I know my girlfriends
will help me do a good job of picking places from the list of
suggestions that will have enough parking, accomodate a big group,
have facilities for those who are handicapped, and have enough
variety on the menu so the vegetarians and meat eaters can all find
something to eat. Even though I'm hetero/mono, I still really like
spending time with the polys, they're good folks.

Bay Cruise, eh? Tell me how that is.

Norwegian cruise lines does a quickie (3 days, I think) from SF to
Vancouver, maybe we could do that for your bachelorette party. I'm
still cool with Vegas over Mem. day weekend, too. Whatever! :) I
found some funny party stuff at the Party Pig for bachelorette
parties..but I'm not telling you anything else about it!

Ugh, I'm SO ready for the weekend. Tonight is fajita night with [aunt L],
Sweetie, [Cousin B] and [aunt L]'s brother in law, [uncle B]'s brother Jim, who is a
priest. Jim has really gross table manners and almost never talks. I
really hope I don't get stuck sharing fajitas for 2 with him...I
couldn't take touching tortillas or other food after he'd put his
    hands on it.

Tomorrow is an evening w/Elena. We're doing early voting (No on Prop
2 - the anti gay marriage amendment!) and then going to a play based
on the life of Elizabeth Bathory, and then to some Halloween party
she was telling me about. I already have a man, so I shouldn't care
about playing the role of fat girlfriend/cockblocker for little
skinny pretty corseted Elena, but I'm already feeling depressed &
sorry for myself about it. Stupid. I know.

Last night was Krav Maga, I am bruised and sore. We didn't warm up,
stretch or cool down. My entire right leg is in pain--calf and
    hamstring especially. Owie.

Oh well...I have to have the mindset that if I'm ever attacked in RL,
my attacker won't care that I'm not warmed up, I've got a sore leg or
that (s)he's bruising me...so I need to just suck it up and work thru
the pain. And, it's good for me, right?

So, Krav last night, he didn't warm us up and we didn't stretch or
cool down. I had a calf cramp in my rt. leg all day before class, and
by the end of class my rt. hamstring was also complaining.

During practicing knees, [Cousin B] grabbed my right arm enough times and
with enough force that I had 4 finger-sized bruises on the underside
of my arm. This morning, it's more of an undifferentiated blob.

After class, we walked around the block and [Cousin B] smoked some 'good'
stuff, he'd made several remarks about me joining him in smoking, and
I said 'no' more than once. How tedious. He tried to tell me he'd
smoked yesterday at lunch and went to his afternoon classes and
actually did work in all of them. huz zah...isn't that what you're
supposed to do anyway? grr. stupidity.

He was tired and I think wanted me to go home after that but I
stupidly stayed and we watched "Mythbusters" on cable in his room.

I did not play it cool (have never been good at that). I think he's
done. I will try to be OK with that. In one way, I am. But of course
there's always the part of me that gets hurt feelings over stupid
crap. (hindsight: of course the full moon sex was 'hot' if it was the
last time and you knew it...)

ANYHOO....I went home and put a ben gay patch on my calf and a
thermal warming pad thingy on the back of my leg. Neither felt like
it was going to stay, so I put my workout leggings back on to hold
    them in place.

    *sigh* Owies.

    evile: hi :)
    SkyeDS: how do
    evile: so far, so good.
evile: I listened to hair metal all morning and was unusually
productive. I'll probably have my quota done by 2.
    SkyeDS: which hair metal?
evile: the launchcast 'hair flare' station
SkyeDS: like, Crue? Cinderella? Poison? Dokken? etc?
    evile: *nod*
    SkyeDS: cool
SkyeDS: I get laughed at for listening to those things (not that I
    care)
    evile: *shrug*
SkyeDS: besides, some of them are lyrical in almost a classical sense
    (particularly Poison)
evile: it's not a constant thing, but sometimes it's good to listen
    to something loud and fast.
SkyeDS: "get blood pumping don't fall asleep cheer up" music
    evile: yup
evile: I am in *so* much pain today, but I feel so happy. crazy.
    SkyeDS: exercise pain?
    evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: I do that too. "Oh my god I'm sore" big silly grin on face
    evile: *nod*
evile: And I'm sort of pleased, because [Cousin B] was still hurting from
Saturday, too, so that means I'm not just a wuss.
SkyeDS: I have a little bit of pleasant feeling from riding this
weekend (although I didn't ride as much as everyone else did)
    evile: *nod*
evile: well...shoot. Just read that the Corsairs aren't going to be
performing at Scarborough next year. :(
SkyeDS: I just spent half an hour on the phone with an HHS customer
no service tech to find out that the problem is that this particular
agency (probably all of them if I had to guess), their website only
    allows MIE
SkyeDS: which, ya know, if it had SAID that, I would have been USING
    that
    SkyeDS: instead of my firefox.
    evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: and HE didn't come up with the solution, *I* did.
    evile: crazy.
evile: Gotta love Krav Maga endorphins--I managed to get almost all
the way through my work day before anybody harshed my mellow
evile: Boss taking me to task because the software we use had a
glitch, and my error rate takes the hit. Of course.
SkyeDS: I suppose I ought to be leary of applying for all these state
    positions
SkyeDS: but they pay better t han what I'm making now
evile: Just be ready to play a lot of political bullshit games, suck
    up to supervisors, etc.
evile: I covered my ass quite thoroughly on this one. Go me.
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: And I told her I don't appreciate my performance taking a hit
for what is essentially a software problem.
SkyeDS: sineater has that problem at work a lot too
evile: I wouldn't care, except that for 4 years when we had no $ in
teh budget for raises/promotions, I got outstanding, and now that we
have $ I am suddenly only 'proficient'? I smell a whole bucket o'
    rats.
    SkyeDS: nodnods
evile: benefits are still OK, and they can't really fire you, but the
    work environment is toxic.
evile: and basically, get used to living on whatever they pay you
coming thru the door, because you ain't gonna get shit for
    raises/promotions.
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: how is it going getting an office to yourself / having the
chief pot stirrer put in a corner by herself?
    evile: bupkis
    SkyeDS: :(
evile: I would expect nothing more from this place, realistically.
evile: The only solutions are 1) go elsewhere or stay here and
practice powers of denial/refocus on RL and not let it get to me.
SkyeDS: I had a friend once working at UT who erected shields around
her desk (of a magickal/energy nature), with something round as a
focus to contain it/release it (ring, coffee cup, etc)
SkyeDS: I have a hard time teaching shielding because mine are
natural and not learned. It's hard to teach something you were not
    taught.
    evile: *nod*
    SkyeDS: I made a halloween icon :)
    evile: cool :)
SkyeDS: I can't remember the last time I took a quiz and got
    surprising results
    evile: heh.
evile: well, it's that special time. Have a good evening. :)
SkyeDS: wind to your wings :)

    basically exercise...really mean exercise.
    Kahlua: Awww.
Kahlua: Oh well. :) Next time.
evile: Not to worry, I'm gonna beat him up tomorrow.
    Kahlua: Sweet
evile: I may beat him harder than strictly necessary. he's fallen in

to tell him that people who don't have anything better to do than

    actually.
evile: I'm not sure I can make him understand the difference between
baking every day at/after school, and having special things on
special occasions...or is there one? I think there is...
    Kahlua: There sure is.

even worry about it says you are on the right track :)
    Kahlua: I sure hope so
    evile: yup. :)

    Kahlua: Heheh
Kahlua: I just installed a multiple-desktop program on my machine.

    Kahlua: Bzz bzz

made my legs and back just feel stiff and owie
Kahlua: Yeah, the sitting gets to me too.
    Kahlua: Stupid oldness.
evile: stupid out of shape ness...for me, anyway.
Kahlua: Me too. I am NOT aerobically fit this year.
    evile: ...this decade..for me :P
evile: yay! meeting with HR tomorrow at 2 to see if I can lateral

Krav Maga Class was pretty amazing last night. I did get winded
during the warmup, but I made it through everything OK. Bruised the
knuckles on my right pinky & ring-finger. My hand wrap started to
come undone during class, so I took it off. The last part of class,
of course, involved hitting a bag as hard and fast as possible. Ow.
Oh well, it was fun. My 'sparring buddy' was this adorable young man
named Aeneas. Ooh, he was so pretty. It would be ugly and ridiculous
to actually do something carnal with someone that pretty, but it's
    sure nice to look at.

If Sweetie hadn't been sleepy & grouchy last night, I might have pounced

I hope it didn't fall out of my bookbag either on the way out the

    bravery and martyrdom....
evile: I dont' care if she comes or not, but if she does, it's not

    SkyeDS: lol nods
evile: It's my party, these are my loved ones, and if you want to be
the Diva, go throw your own party.
SkyeDS: I suspect Hugh is going to have a bad afternoon
    evile: ooh, yucko.
SkyeDS: and nothing I can do to shield him from it neither
evile: Well, if you need to go do damage control & run offline
unexpectedly, dont' worry 'bout it :P
SkyeDS: tc conf w problem child today
    evile: ick.
SkyeDS: she'll bend my ear all day long but won't talk to Hugh long
enough about important things so he can do a good job
evile: ugh. Maybe you can just try and condense her blab down to the
    main points, outline-style. :P
evile: You know...you and I are weirdos. We do and say some pretty
bizarre stuff sometimes...but when you examine our words & actions by
our own stated values, they are internally consistent. That is the
main problem I have with The Rubber Pig, I think. Her actions and words are
not consistent with her stated beliefs and values.
SkyeDS: I don't like people who are not at least internally consistent
    evile: *nods*
evile: I can't even imagine all the health problems she brings on
herself by behaving so much against what she says she believes is
    right.
evile: sineater said y'all were going to be at equestrian practice in
Elgin next weekend? I might want to see sineater & Jessie do their stuff
    sometime.
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: it's a little north of elgin proper
SkyeDS: they are talking about starting at 10 and going till whenever
SkyeDS: bryn gwlad's course is not a full course tho
evile: every little bit of practice is helpful, though, I imagine..?
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: just so you know, it's not what competition looks like exactly
    evile: aha.
evile: I probably dont' have the patience to watch a full
    competition, anyway.
SkyeDS: the reeds don't have heads on them and the ring stands don't
    have rings
    evile: Ok....
evile: Ugh. I just got a baby shower invite. For people I dont' even
know. If I wouldnt' go to Knighthorse & Kulilinei's, there is NO way I"m going
    to some strangers'.
    SkyeDS: ick
evile: supposedly it turns into a 'real' party 11 pm, but I cant'
stay up that late since I have stuff to do Sunday a.m.
evile: Plus I'd feel like a heel to only show up for the 'real' party
and not do the gifty baby crappy party
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Oh well. Maybe they'll throw a real party soon & still invite
me even though I've turned them down for 2 baby shower parties
    already..
evile: Oh, I gotta tell you, here's how bad Krav Maga is kicking my
ass: my arms hurt *juicing lemons* last night...pitiful!!
SkyeDS: but you like it :P
evile: On the expectation/hope that it will get better, yes. But for
    now...owwwww!
SkyeDS: news sources can't seem to agree on whether that hostage is
    still alive or not
evile: Sweetie likes the drudge report for stuff like that.
    SkyeDS: I like Drudge
SkyeDS: sineater doesn't trust anything conservative
evile: I dont' read real news.
evile: the only TV station we get is FOX, so needless to say I don't
watch TV news either. I don't wanna know..it just makes me want to
kill/die...and I hate feeling like that. Just nuke the shit out of
everything, W, and get it over with....
SkyeDS: I still say if we'd nuked 9 countries and started drilling
oil over there, and asked the other 13 if they wanted the same...
    SkyeDS: like, on 9/12
    evile: yup.
evile: still no reply from Pat &/or his wife re: Sunday. I
guess "good friends" can be allowed to "drift apart" after all.
    SkyeDS: :-/
evile: Put your money where your mouth is or shut the hell
up...that's all I want from people in this life.
evile: Then again, nobody seems to know how to RSVP anymore...so
    maybe they'll show up anyway.
evile: I need to try & get to the library tomorrow, I'm out of stuff
    to read at home.
SkyeDS: I haven't read anything new in a very long time
evile: That is my main addiction. I get antsy when I have no books to
    read.
    SkyeDS: lovely
SkyeDS: Hugh's daughter is about to have to go to the ER
    SkyeDS: just what he needs
    evile: oh no. poor thing!!
SkyeDS: got to meet his wife Joyce finally
SkyeDS: always nice to put a face to a voice
    evile: cool :)
evile: Things getting any calmer over there?
SkyeDS: only because our doctor is truant
    evile: Oh??
evile: NOt the child's ER dr, but a client. Nevermind. I think I got
    it.
SkyeDS: this is going to cost her between 10 and 20K and she seems ot
have no interest in her own defense
    SkyeDS: (the client)
    evile: wow.. :(
evile: well, I'm going to go to the annex & get a copy of this weeks
Chronicle before I start my rounds, so I'm going to head that way.
    SkyeDS: hugs
evile: Have a good time this weekend :)
    evile: TGIF!!!
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: busy day for y'all :)
SkyeDS: hope to get this shit w Maria over w
SkyeDS: I wanted Kelly to have that stuff too :(
evile: *nods* that's been a real hassle. How's the new tenant?
    SkyeDS: fine so far
    evile: good.
SkyeDS: rent paid on time, paying installments of deposit on time
SkyeDS: Kelly likes them (very important)
    evile: yeah.
evile: I am so very ready to go home & have another early night at
    home
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: And then Saturday's for shopping, cooking, and cleaning, and
Sunday's The Picnic..which should be interesting, at the very least.
SkyeDS: has she made up her mind whether she's well enough to come?
SkyeDS: sineater made it sound like she keeps changing it
evile: When I last talked with them on Tues, she was all gung ho
to 'brave' the journey. I tried my best to discourage her....I don't
want her making herself sick or hurting herself on my behalf, ya know?
evile: 1) I don't want to summon up all sorts of fake "Oh, you're so
great and wonderful for hurting yourself JUST to be here!"
    2) I dont' want her hurting herself and then saying "Oh, it's all
that evil evilE's fault for demanding that I attend her stupid
    picnic!"
evile: Given her histrionics, it could really go either way. And I
can also see her getting miffed if she shows up, doesn't get hurt or
sick in the process, and I *don't* fawn all over her praising her
    bravery and martyrdom....
evile: I dont' care if she comes or not, but if she does, it's not
going to be the "Wonderful The Rubber Pig Drama Show"
    SkyeDS: hope not
evile: If she shows up I'll be like "Hey, thanks for coming, meet my
friends, go swim" and that'll be about it.

    Jun. 17, 2004

    evile: Happy Thursday!
    SkyeDS: :)
SkyeDS: meant to ask you yesterday, whyfor you moved to BD on Chaos.
SkyeDS: <was just thinking about moving back to Drandmir.
evile: Oh, I was trying to sign up as a 'maybe' for CRW and for some
reason it would not let me, kept telling me I had to be a member of a
group to use that feature. So I checked, and I WAS a member of
Drandmir, but the machine was not being helpful. So I switched to BD
and it 'took' my registration for CRW after that.
    SkyeDS: cool
evile: It was just a bizarre little glitch, I guess. irritating.
SkyeDS: I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I doubt it is a glitch
SkyeDS: I don't t hink anything's a glitch where PtA and Drandmir are
    concerned
evile: It could be that there's some thing somewhere that says "is E
a member of Drandmir?" and some Official Drandmir person clicked 'no'
and that's why it didn't work...
evile: I don't really care. If I go I won't stay overnight, most
likely, and I probably wont'do feast, so it's not like they need my
headcount in order to accomodate me.
SkyeDS: they'll charge you full price regardless
evile: which is why I rsvpd, so they could get a rough estimate of
    income for the event.
SkyeDS: I've said many times I think salt lick would be a good place
to have feast (and court if they'd humor us)
evile: whine whine whine it's too expensive waah.
SkyeDS: well, I imagine if we took enough people there might be a
    discount that could be negotiated.
evile: probably not...but no harm in asking. Personally, it would be
worth the cost to not have to shlep dishes/food around, if I were an
    organizer/helper for CRW.
evile: Did you see the post in austin poly about the tubing trip on
the 27th? That sounds so awesome...I may have to go.
SkyeDS: have not been tubing in long time
SkyeDS: looking forward to some time in the water on the wknd of the
    4th
SkyeDS: Rockdale's swimmin pool is not 6 miles from the house, and I
didn't go at all last summer, stupid
evile: Well, here you are, with a whole nother summer to play with. :)
evile: It's evil of me to think it, but I imagine Aunt L will bribe me
to take the kids to schlitterbahn sometime this summer.
SkyeDS: wonder how much it will be worth
evile: She didn't even blink when I told her season passes to
schlitterbahn were over $100. So...whatever it is, I'm sure it'll
turn out to be a win-win, she'll feel like it was worth it to get a
day of peace & quiet, the kids will have fun, and I probably will
    too :P
SkyeDS: how many times you have to take them to need season passes...
    evile: probably about 4.
SkyeDS: couldn't you just take them once as a gesture
evile: Im sure that's all she'll ask me to do.
SkyeDS: depending on when you go, I would like to go too?
evile: I will keep you posted. Will probably be sometime during the
work week--less traffic, crowds & lines.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Fiesta TX has a growing water area, too. If the 'saddling of
the CF' had occurred earlier in the year, she could have gotten a
family four pack for like $50 or something..
evile: Of course, the 'bahn & Fiesta TX can only be reached by
putting squalling younguns in a car and driving for 1-2 hours,
so...neither one is really all that ideal.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Elaine's neighborhood pool is free for residents & guests,
that's what the kids did yesterday.
SkyeDS: had a free pool when I was in the park
SkyeDS: since technically I've only subleased out suppose I still
    have free use there
evile: teh one by my house is free, but it's in the ghetto and all...
SkyeDS: but it closes at 6
    evile: bummer.
    evile: Oh, THIS is lovely:
    http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/Southwest/06/17/downtown.drownings.ap/index
    .html

I am sure the CF'ers will get a nice hearty grin out of that story...
SkyeDS: they talked about that on radio news for days
    evile: good lord.
evile: And I love the rationale "kid sees a waterfall and of COURSE
they think its for them to play in"...um, try that logic on the
people in the lobby at the Hilton, fucko.
evile: Do they surgically remove the ability to say the word "NO"
when people become parents? What the hell...
    SkyeDS: <no clue
evile: and it looks like the parents actually *intentionally* took
thier kids there to swim, hence the children dressed in swimsuits...
SkyeDS: and somebody's poor 11 yo died trying to help
    evile: I know...that SUCKS.
SkyeDS: and the good reverend thinks the problem is, despite the no
swimming signs, that there is no fence and steps leading down to the
    fountain
    SkyeDS: jesus h christ
evile: fill it in with concrete, protect duh chyldrruuun!
SkyeDS: "the kids thought it was ok because there was no fence and
    there were steps"
SkyeDS: ok so Dad can't read where it says no swimming?
SkyeDS: Dad should be prosecuted for criminal negligence
SkyeDS: he took them there on purpose in suits because the hotel pool
    was closed.
evile: Oh, but "he's already suffered enough"
evile: what they always say when parents 'accidentally' kill their
    kids.
    SkyeDS: making copies, slow
evile: No biggie, I know you're at work. :) Krav Maga last night was
    awesome, BTW.
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: I was disappointed when I got home after 9 and realized I'd
missed a call from sineater :( But hopefully we'll catch up with each
    other eventually...
SkyeDS: must have called before I got home last night (which was like
    9)
evile: the machine said he called around 7.
SkyeDS: bout the time I left.
evile: Has he been able to touch base with Brother A at all? I have NO
idea what their hours are like....
    SkyeDS: nope, phone tag
    evile: figures.
SkyeDS: sineater's home all damn day and all damn night, just about,
    during the week <shrug>
SkyeDS: I come home and crash immediately but he's usually up before
I am in the morning (Arthur) and up past me at night
    evile: *nods*
evile: I am under the impression that Trey works late, while Brother A &
The Rubber Pig do not work at all and she's still fairly limited in mobility,
so I don't see how they can not be there when people call....but I
can see her not answering the phone if you're hurting & not in the
mood to talk. And Brother A not feeling like he should be distracted from
her when she's not doing well.
evile: My feeling/suspicion is that Brother A knows sineater is not one to be
tactful or tell someone what they want to hear, and he does not want
to hear what sineater has to say...
SkyeDS: sineater doesn't entirely believe she has had surgery at all
SkyeDS: I think you're exactly right
evile: I hadn't even considered THAT possibility. I can see someone
exaggerating the severity of the surgery risks and getting themselves
all worked up and scared, but to make it up COMPLETELY...wow.
evile: See...honest, sane people have no natural defenses against
these kinds of pathological lunatics....being honest & sane myself, I
don't think I could even conceive of putting my friends, family &
loved ones through that kind of worry for no reason besides Drama.
evile: sineater does better at that kind of Macchiavellian thinking,
because of his suspicious & paranoid Scorpio nature. I honestly NEVER
would have thought to question that there was SOME sort of surgery,
    at least.
    SkyeDS: <shrugs>
SkyeDS: I have no clue, I'm in no position to guess
SkyeDS: I could consult my cards but why bother
evile: well..and ultimately it's not Reality that counts, but what
The Rubber Pig and Brother A believe is real... :(
SkyeDS: I can't imagine K/Mom would be pleased to know that
she's "supposed" to help watch the kids for some portion of the
summer, when TX summer is so detrimental to her health
evile: Well, Aunt L's an adult & had the right to say 'no' to them, but
didn't, despite her own health issues. Mom also has that right, and is
apparently exercising it, whether they heard her or not.
evile: And I fully intend to be sure that Mom & Sister H crash at my
place, not Aunt L & Uncle B's, and that they get quality vacation time and
not just sprog-chasing for the 1 week they're planning on being here.
SkyeDS: they're coming after all then
SkyeDS: I hope he's working by then, but if not, I can bring him into
town with me and he can spend the day(s) with them.
evile: Mom &Sister H asked me to look for airfares for them to come
for 1 week in July. Then the kids got dumped on Aunt L and Mom said
something about coming for more of the summer to help Aunt L. then Mom
got some sense & we are now back to 1 week in July.
SkyeDS: my parents want to pay to get the black truck more fully
operational again, so that should improve situations too
SkyeDS: and the job he's interviewing for is 3 - 11 shift so there's
    that too
evile: That would be good :)
SkyeDS: I am taking him and M to Kelly's tomorrow and leaving them
there with Arthur and Maria's stuff
SkyeDS: so that Maria can pay us, get her stuff back, and then at
8:30 we're going to leave to meet Bob at his hotel at 9 and do dinner
    evile: *nods*
SkyeDS: told Bob I was driving horses on Saturday so he knows I don't
want to be up too late but I probably will be anyway <shrug>
evile: sounds like a good solution to the quandary of how to get time
with your friend and also get to your event.
SkyeDS: sineater, sonar0m adn Arthur always have a good time at Kelly's /w
    the kids
    evile: I bet :)
SkyeDS: prolly go swimmin <sigh> wish could go with
    evile: yeah...workin sucks.
SkyeDS: I want to get here earlier and leave earlier
SkyeDS: maybe this weekend or next or soon I can get my patterns
adjusted enough to get off work in time to swim there before driving
    home
evile: yeah..but that involves getting up earlier...which can be
tough. But summer's good for that, more daylight & stuff.
SkyeDS: my new morning routine is going to require me adjusting anyway
SkyeDS: I have to take a 20 min bath
    evile: *nods*
SkyeDS: followed w 20 min of heating pad
SkyeDS: and because heating pad = electrical cord I can't combine the
    two
SkyeDS: then I have to eat breakfast
    SkyeDS: eat, not drink it.
SkyeDS: do exercises (I tend not to)
    evile: yup.
evile: I made a breakfast casserole last night, that will be
breakfast for the next 4-5 days.
SkyeDS: I wonder if I could just make a big old mound of scrambled
eggs with stuff in to last that long
evile: basically, that's what I did: eggs, cheese, rotel tomatoes, a
few corn tortillas, stirred together, baked 30 min, and viola,
    breakfast for a week.
SkyeDS: I'd be happy with just eggs, some sort of meat, cheese and
maybe a tiny bit of potato
evile: I don't see why that could'nt be made breakfast casserole
    style...
SkyeDS: eggs, cheese, chorizo and a judiciously small amount of
    potato is good together
    evile: yup
    SkyeDS: is = are
    evile: I got it :)
evile: I guess it depends on your schedule, whether it's easier to
spend 5 minutes in the kitchen every a.m. making breakfast, or to
bake 1 thing for 30 minutes, in advance.
SkyeDS: would be cool if I could do it on Sunday and it be good for a
    week
evile: I've had no problems with my breakfast casseroles. I tried
freezing scrambled eggs once, THAT was icky. But making a casserole
and keeping it refrigerated seems to be fine for 4-5 days.
SkyeDS: kinda stupid to say I'm too lazy to make an omelette every
    morning :-/
evile: It's easy, but it does make dirty dishes to cook every
    morning. kind of a hassle.
evile: And for me, I just really am not awake in the a.m...I have my
little routine timed almost to the minute, and that's it.
    SkyeDS: nodnods
evile: I was getting kinda good about getting up to do my AM Yoga but
    then the time change hit.
evile: Onyxlynxx is at the gym at 5:15 in the a.m....I admire her so much
    for that.
SkyeDS: I saw her yesterday, said hi, she didn't have anything else
    to say
evile: on line, or in RL?
    SkyeDS: online
evile: aha. Well, she works in a call center, so I'm sure she goes
through spells of nothing and then 20 things happening at once.
evile: She hasn't added me back on ICQ, so I can't see whether she's
    on or not.
SkyeDS: I saw her on mine, but hers says still waiting to authorize
    so some weirdness is afoot
evile: Icq to go is the best thing I've found...it's not great, but
Yahoo messenger crashes everything. And I have never figured out if
AIM 'portable' is even working, nobody on my AIM list is ever showed
    as being 'online'
SkyeDS: I got tired of all the different "to gos" and so I use
    trillian
SkyeDS: which works fine if your machine isn't too old
evile: I can't download at work. And I have win 95 at home. No
    trillian for me.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Sweetie is making noises about upgrading my stuff at home,
but...eh. I'll believe it when I see it.
SkyeDS: I don't pay any attention to what sineater does to our stuff
    until it stops working
    evile: heh. same here.
evile: 1) I am still waiting for enoughmemory to download my MT photos
    2) yahoo mail, since it's 'improvement' does not work from my home
    computer/browser.
    evile: sineater's online....that' s a rarity :)
    SkyeDS: /me nods
evile: probably cheaper than a phone call :)
SkyeDS: we have metro one way to Austin
SkyeDS: think we should invest in unlimited LD soon, it's not much
    more
evile: that's probably a very good thing. For whatever crazy reason,
it costs me more to call you, an hours drive away, than it does to
call J-Law in CA or Mom in IN.
SkyeDS: SBC does unlimited ld for $20
SkyeDS: metro (one way, not available two, or you could call me
    local) is $15
evile: My current LD bill is usually about $6 a month.
evile: I hardly ever use the phone...I like the computer better.
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: easier to transfer media, and edit myself
evile: yeah...I'm getting better about the brain-to-mouth connection,
but still not perfect. Otherwise I never would have said that
sarcastic thing to The Rubber Pig about not calling Brother A a shmuck in front of
me...I would have phrased it better.
evile: Well, I need to get paper shuffled & whatnot.
SkyeDS: nodnod, wind to your wings, bella :)
    evile: *hugs* take care :)

evile: Whee! I (hopefully) got registered for a class :)
    SkyeDS: which one?
evile: Krav Maga. :) I've been wanting to take it for forever
    SkyeDS: what is it
    evile: Self Defense/martial art thingy
evile: My 'backup' if the Krav Maga class is full or cancelled is a
    Western riding class.
SkyeDS: they provide horse I take it
    evile: yup
evile: (not buying a horse just to take a class, in any case)
SkyeDS: lol how much are they charging
    evile: $128 for a 5 week session, 1 hour per class/week
SkyeDS: that's not bad at all
evile: I need to bring you the class schedule book. UT sent me 2.
Both to my home addy. I think there's probably another lurking at the
    PO box
SkyeDS: most lessons are $35 for half hour and $50 for full
evile: The Krav Maga is $134, so I needed to find something close in
price if the substitution took place & UT neglected to refund the
    difference.
evile: I will be happy with whichever class I get.
evile: Unfo, the Krav Maga (if I get it) happens the same night as
party planning 101, so I did not want to mess things up by signing up
for a class I wouldn't be able to get to if my first choice comes
    through.
    SkyeDS: :-/
evile: s*it happens, I guess. If it's offered again in Fall, I may do
    it then.
SkyeDS: methinks you could teach parties 101
evile: As a former teacher, you know that there is a *world* of
difference between knowing something and being able to teach it.
Teaching is a whole different skill, which I don't think I possess.
SkyeDS: teaching a class is actually a good way to learn more about
    what you already know
evile: Trial by Fire, more like. My soapmaking class was a total
disaster, so I can't imagine I'd do that to myself again anytime soon.
evile: I feel bad about it, but OTOH, there's no shame in not being
able to do everything perfectly...I'm human, I don't know everything.
    That's life.
    SkyeDS: nod
evile: With that in mind, knowing its not a skill I possess, I am not
going to put myself into a situation where the best possible outcome
    is failure, ya know?
    SkyeDS: true
evile: That's the secret to appearing to be invincible & perfect--
know what you can do & CANT do & never fuck up in front of people :P
SkyeDS: except I'm always fucking up in front of people lol
evile: hehe. It doesn't kill ya...I just hate to do it, personally. I
don't have the ego strength to fuck up & deal with it gracefully.
evile: I don't forgive myself for fucking up publically...which is
    stupid and useless.
    SkyeDS: me either
evile: I'm actually terrified to take this class--I'm sure I'll be
the most uncoordinated fatty in there. But...it needs to be done.
evile: I've suspected for about 3 yrs now that one of the big reasons
I stay fat is to keep people from hitting on me &/or outbulk the
    people I fear. So...step 1 towards having a better self-image is
knowing I can kick anyone's ass, anytime, no matter how big they are
    or how big/small I am.
SkyeDS: <medicate myself with food, simple.
evile: I am sure I have multiple issues tied in to the fat thing, but
hopefully once I knock out some of the bigger bugaboos, the smaller
    ones will fall into place.
evile: No telling. It's been frustrating to intellectually identify
problems and not be able to blast out the undermining emotions.
SkyeDS: there is a book called It's not what you're eating it's
    what's eating you
    evile: I've probably read it.
evile: I saw Dr. D on Friday, got my weight & BP. My weight is the
same as a month ago, but I've gone from 120/70 to 100/60. Took my
measurements Sunday & I've lost half an inch from my upper arms.
Tennis has apparently been paying off in the cardio dept....
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: All the lab work before surgery shows my cholesterol is good,
liver, kidneys, etc. all good. So, even at 50-60 lbs overweight, I'm
perfectly healthy. Which is good, but I still want to lose weight.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: I'm probably the target demographic for 'fat
acceptance'...there is no reason on earth I should be unhappy with my
    body--it's 100% healthy. BUT...
evile: Oh well. More tennis. Less cookie dough. We'll get there...
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: If I wasn't going on vacation next week, I would *so* be
playing hooky today..darn this work ethic!!
    SkyeDS: lol
evile: I went out to feed the birds this a.m. and just felt so nice
being out in the yard, *sigh*
    SkyeDS: beautiful day
SkyeDS: had a great time last night at fighter practice
    evile: cool :)
SkyeDS: rode easily half a dozen kids around and half that many
    adults.
    evile: how fun!
SkyeDS: Raj was in "look at me I'm an Arabian mode"
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: gettingn some bites on my work at home paralegal stuff
SkyeDS: if I can make more than $12 hour at it, I hate to do it
SkyeDS: but gas is getting bad
    evile: yeah...
evile: Sweetie says he's sending off for his grease tank next month so he
can convert the vanagon to biodiesel/greasel
    SkyeDS: cool
evile: I'll believe it when I see it, but it would be cool...
evile: We are going on a year for getting rid of the blue trooper (2
    months is what he said)
SkyeDS: have heard that before lol
    evile: yup
evile: There are causes & effects in all things, even relationships.
I understand this, maybe eventually Sweetie will as well....
evile: I might not have much room to talk--my work room has been
consistently filthy & unusable for an entire year now. ...but that's
just me fucking myself, not me making a promise to someone else and
    fucking them.
    SkyeDS: nofd
    SkyeDS: err nods
evile: sineater asked me about [brother A]'s wedding plans...I don't have
anything except the date. July 10. I would have thought some kind of
invite should have gone out by now...but I haven't seen or heard
    anything.
SkyeDS: I thought it as postponed
evile: Like I said, I haven't seen or heard anything from anyone.
Some night when I have 4 hours to spare, I'll call down to San
Antonio & listen to [brother A] & The Rubber Pig talk at me & hopefully sift some
    useful info out of it.
evile: I hate being on the phone...the only people I really like
talking to on the phone are the people I will not see or hear from
any other way (Mom, [sister H], G/stepdad, J-Law, Dee)...and even with them I
    don't call that often.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Oh well, maybe I'll call [brother A] this weekend, when I've got some
    time.
evile: I went ahead and chose the riding class that wouldn't
interfere with the date I thought was the wedding date...so I'm
    covered, either way :P
    SkyeDS: :)
SkyeDS: need to check my calendar 2
SkyeDS: not positive but I think there's something goin that weekend
SkyeDS: but no reason sineater has to go with me
    SkyeDS: or me with him
    evile: yup.
evile: Keep me posted, if anybody needs a ride to the wedding or
    whatever.
SkyeDS: if it goes forward and the date clashes could you take sineater?
SkyeDS: if I like dropped him off at your place before I left?
evile: absolutely. No problem. We have the guest room, so depending
on time/logistics, he could crash here, too.
SkyeDS: I think that's the weekend of Coronation
    evile: aha
    SkyeDS: yep it is.
SkyeDS: I suppose I'm evil for wanting to go to coronation instead of
to a wedding where I don't know the bride.
evile: nope. If I could get away with it, I wouldn't go either.
evile: But whatever...I will be there if [brother A] wants me to be.
SkyeDS: [brother A] is your family
SkyeDS: I consider [brother A] family too, but I am an outlaw inlaw
evile: Well, you & [brother A] aren't close & never were. sineater & [brother A] were
    at one point...
SkyeDS: he has always been kind to me
SkyeDS: sineater isn't easy to be close to.
evile: I think you are to [brother A] as I am to...Stephanie, Maybe. We see
each other at family stuff, but it wasn't important to her for me to
be at her wedding, or to know when she had her kid(s?), etc.
evile: (Stephanie, sineater's cousin, not Stephanie my deaf girlfriend)
evile: There's no active dislike there, we enjoy each other's company
when we see each other, but we don't have a personal connection
    beyond that of step/marriage
    SkyeDS: nope
SkyeDS: and I don't think [brother A] will get his feelings hurt if I'm not
    there.
evile: heh I was just about to say that :)
SkyeDS: besides, if I were there more likely than not I'd just put my
    foot in it anyway
evile: No tellin. I don't imagine anybody else will get a word in
edgewise, maybe the officiant. It'll be The Rubber Pig center stage and we get
    to be the wordless audience.
evile: She says her whole family is talky like she is. So ...we'll
    see, I guess.
evile: Mom will likely wade right in and have a great time. Aunt L,
Uncle B, and I will probably hide in a corner, twitching.
    evile: G/stepdad, too :P
    SkyeDS: lol
evile: Mom was always great with the [V family]--they are like "My Big
    Fat Transylvanian Wedding" 24/7.
    SkyeDS: rofl
evile: Mom fits in socially anywhere she goes...she's very adept. I
    can be...but it's not a consistent ability.
SkyeDS: I try very hard, I don't always succeed
evile: That may be another innate-to-some talent that is tricky to
    learn...
evile: I'm at Quota + 20 with 2 hours until quitting time. Hopefully
that will snap the boss people out of their diaper act (ie: Get them
    OFF MY ASS!!!)
    SkyeDS: I would think so!
evile: thinking...not a good thing to do around here. Just gets ya in
    trouble.
    SkyeDS: lol
evile: The stick is not big enough to do anything besides annoy me
and the carrot is long gone.
    SkyeDS: rofl! eloquently put
evile: *sigh* Oh well. It beats being one of our customers, I guess.
    SkyeDS: indeed
evile: Now that the economy is getting better, I won't feel so guilty
    about bitching about work.
SkyeDS: hope sineater goes back to dell or somewhere soon
    evile: That would be good.
evile: Oh ick. p0rn as someone's LJ icon. ...nice.
    SkyeDS: ew
SkyeDS: as paid for gas yesterday looked up and big nearly porn
    banner
    evile: yuck.
SkyeDS: thought ya know, that's a lawsuit in the making if you have
    female employees
evile: there are LJ communities devoted to such photos, but I darn
sure don't look at them while at work! And, really, I want to
_choose_ to see it, not have it shoved in my face, no m atter where I
    am.
evile: despite the laws, most employees (esp at low paying gigs)
don't know their rights in the workplace.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: I get frustrated when people write in an appeal after being
denied, and it's obvious they have a case, but they're not savvy
    enough to present it properly.
SkyeDS: no one to refer them to for help...?
evile: Not that I know of. Nobody is supposed to discuss merits
except the hearing officers. I'd get in big trouble if I gave someone
advice on what to say or how to say it.
    SkyeDS: :(
evile: yeah...it sucks. But, theoretically, everyone has the same
access to public education & information, so it isn't my fault if
they didn't take advantage of their opportunities & ended up dirt-
    ignorant working at 7-11.

evile: It's so nice out! I really wanna play hooky...darn this work
    ethic. darn it!!
    SkyeDS: lol
evile: I have phone duty tomorrow, so I'll get to leave an hour
early. That will be almost as good as playing hooky...
evile: Tomorrow's poly dinner too :) Hopefully phone duty will be
nice so I won't be in a rotten mood after work.
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: Would it be OK for me to bring you the UT schedule book after
work today, or would it be better some other time?
SkyeDS: I'll be here till 6 tonight
evile: Ok if I swing by 'round 4:30ish? I won't keep you, I'll just
    drop & run ...
    SkyeDS: surely :)
    evile: cool :)
evile: AWW! Baybeeee Racoooons! SOCUTE!!! They were on a web page

SkyeDS: will wait till boss is gone before I go lookin
    evile: OK
evile: I think I'm finally beginning to agree with others' opinions
on the tone of the CF community. In general, we are a pretty hateful
bunch. I unsubbed from the LJ CF community. Didn't want to read it
    anymore. Too ugly.
SkyeDS: <is child free (according to those with human children).
evile: well, you could call yourself 'childless' and thus imply that
there was a palpable *lack* rather than "gloat" about it by using the
world 'free'...Or at least that's the way I think the logic goes...
evile: At any rate, I am to the point where I don't have enough time
& energy for the people & things I _love_, so I am certainly not
going to waste any of it on things I don't like...
SkyeDS: my feelings too. too old fat and married.
evile: No polite person should carry the conversation past "do you
have kids?" anyway. If someone does, I can truthfully say "I can't
    get pregnant" :P
