evile: hi! :) How's your day going?
SkyeDS: it goes
SkyeDS: how's yours?
evile: So far so good. Boss gave me permission to either take
Wedneday and Thursday off completely, or work half days the rest of
the week. I have a call in to Mom to see if they have a preference or
any plans that would make one more convenient than the other.
SkyeDS: awesome!
SkyeDS: <have to admit I'm more envious of paid time off than I am of
insurance benefits (even though I know benefits are more useful)
evile: *nod* don't really use the insurance that much, but I do make
use of the paid time off whenever I can.
SkyeDS: choreographed six dances from the nutcracker suite last night
with sineater for an hour or more, that was fun
SkyeDS: I didn't write it down, so now I have to write it down from
memory
SkyeDS: the best layed battleplans never last past the first skirmish
anyway
evile: *nod* It'll all work out just fine :)
evile: Mom is getting [rubber pig]'s children Friday and SAturday, taking
them back Sunday, looks like.
SkyeDS: I don't understand that under the circumstances
evile: me neither.
evile: they won't be stayig at L&B's, Mom's getting a hotel room at a
hotel with a pool. So the girls can swim.
SkyeDS: guess the faire's too far away to bring them on a daytrip?
evile: *shrug* I told her your plans for the weekend, my plans for
the weekend, she made her own.
SkyeDS: oh well, just a thought
evile: yup
evile: My idea of HELL would be driving 5 hours with 4 kids in a car,
and then 5 hours home. I can't really say I blame her for not being
interested in doing that.
SkyeDS: me neither
SkyeDS: I would like to take them riding but we're already committed
SkyeDS: at least this way I can't be accused of using the horses to
molest/abuse the children.
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I have often said if it were my intent to kidnap children for
whatever nefarious purpose I am ideally equipped to do so.
SkyeDS: I think I would enjoy taking the girls riding if they are
with you and/or [K/mom], without [brother A] & [rubber pig]. If another such
opportunity arises in future.
evile: Personally, I am *never* going to see those children again, if
I can help it.
evile: It is not their fault that their mother is a crazy bitch, but
she uses them so effectively as weapons, and I (being basically
honest and good) have absoultely ZERO defenses against evil bugfuck
crazy people.
SkyeDS: they do that in the ME. use women and children as weapons.
evile: yup
SkyeDS: I have friends who work at Ft Hood basically roleplaying
Muslim women to shocktrain the troops
SkyeDS: I guess that blows a big chunky hole in the amount of time
you will spend with your mom this weekend?
SkyeDS: (yes, I know, I am the master of the obvious
statement...except for that I miss the blatantly obvious so often)
evile: No mom-time this weekend. Hope to fuck she doesnt' bring them
to the Main Event on Friday evening.
SkyeDS: I am so confused
SkyeDS: I don't understand and trying to understand would probably
give me a headache
evile: me neither.
SkyeDS: it drives me absolutely past insanity when I don't understand
the why of a thing
evile: [rubber pig] wants exclusive rights to the children. Best way to do
that is defame our entire family so that CPS would be super-reluctant
to release them to fosterage with any of us.
evile: It's pretty simple, really. Just rather appalling to watch how
far into the muck and slime she will dig in order to get what sh
ewants.
SkyeDS: Then she better make sure CPS never finds out that she
voluntarily gave [K/mom] the kids unsupervised for three days.
evile: *shrug*
SkyeDS: why would she even be thinking about where the kids would go
if she didn't have them anyway I wonder
evile: becuase she is abou tto kick [brother A] to the curb and look for a
new impregnator. She wants to make sure [brother A] and the family is so
demoralized and tarnished in the system that we can't do shit about
it.
SkyeDS: like [K/mom] would take all the kids instead of just the one he
sired
evile: No tellin'
SkyeDS: you know one of the reasons I have so little respect for CPS
is because of what I know them to have done in individual
circumstances
SkyeDS: I was honest with Linda about it, and would be with onyxlynxx
were the right time to bring it up ever to present itself
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I know I've probably told you about my friend and the abuse
her daughter took at a daycare
SkyeDS: and what happened when she called CPS about it
SkyeDS: and the ensuing long story right?
evile: it's a shitty system, but it's all we've got, is probably the
way onyxlynxx feels about it. Same as I feel abou tmy job at times.
SkyeDS: they destroyed a family where there was no abuse, while
ignoring existing abuse
SkyeDS: I"m wondering if in this instance they would just do the same
thing
SkyeDS: look past the claims of the original complainant
SkyeDS: examine the entire situation in depth
SkyeDS: and act accordingly
SkyeDS: which would be the CORRECT thing to do in THIS instance,
where it was the worst thing to have done to Stephanie, Mellissandra
and Jerry
evile: *nod*
evile: they do the best they can with limited funds, limited
resources, and a whole shitload of deadwood.
SkyeDS: I wonder if she's not worried about [K/mom] suing for
Grandparental rights, which are codified in Texas
SkyeDS: I don't know what they are exactly but it wouldn't be hard to
find out
SkyeDS: [K/mom] could do that with or without [brother A]'s sayso
SkyeDS: and muddying the family name is not going to help her if [brother A]
goes after paternal rights either
evile: probably hit issues on residency--Mom is not a TX resident.
SkyeDS: I'd have to do research but that may not matter
evile: *shrug* Mom said after she gave [brother A] the car, and 'the last
of [dad]'s money' she was 'done'...but then she does this taking the
kids for 3 days thing. So how 'done' is that?
SkyeDS: I dunno?
SkyeDS: My mom said she was done?
SkyeDS: and she traded in a perfectly good luxury car for a minivan?
SkyeDS: I don't think there can be "Done" when there are children
involved.
evile: nope. makes me sick & sad.
SkyeDS: I think most women just aren't hardwired that way, certainly
not your mom or mine.
evile: yup
SkyeDS: trying to get them to operate from reason rather than emotion
where children are concerned will get us much maligned and possibly
shot at.
evile: yup. back away slowly from the mamma lioness 'tude.
SkyeDS: MOF, I can't seem to ever get Mom or Gramma to operate from
reason rather than emotion about anything.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I just hope to gawd/dess that Mom drives a minivan more
responsibly than most women drive SUVS/minivans.
evile: hopefully.
SkyeDS: sometimes I wonder if there shouldn't be a separate class of
license for women driving those things.
SkyeDS: just like CDLs.
evile: hehehe :)
SkyeDS: I drive a truck and I haul horses. I understand big.
evile: yup!
SkyeDS: but big does NOT make you impervious and should make you MORE
responsible for not only your own safety but everyone else's too, not
LESS
evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: you want to act like you're driving a tank, f ine. Let me
mount a turret gun on top of my rig, and I'll treat you accordingly.
evile: heh. that woudl be cool.
SkyeDS: what I need is a fighter jet. not to haul with but to get
back and forth to work. that would be cool.
SkyeDS: like anyone in their right mind would let me have a fighter
jet.
evile: that would rock.
SkyeDS: when I earned my "three up and three down" and was permitted
to carry a sidearm, the officers serving in my command were
discussing what kind of sidearm they'd trust me with
SkyeDS: I was talking about MK7s and Desert Eagle 50 cal hand cannons
SkyeDS: and the exNavy man said, I wouldn't trust her with more than
a P90 rifle
SkyeDS: and the Marine Frog (same thing as a Navy seal) said, I
wouldn't trust her with a bb gun
SkyeDS: MK = H&L MP
SkyeDS: dammit. H&K MP
evile: hee.
SkyeDS: oh well. Let Stuart's pocket pussy watch me like a hawk and
be so passive in her passive aggressiveness that it almost needs
another word to describe it. As long as he can be civil like he was
at the reunion, I enjoy seeing his kids.
SkyeDS: and when the opportunity presents itself, I'll take it.
evile: yup
SkyeDS: Mom can be as stupid as she wants, it's her life.
evile: it's not the kids' fault their parents are jerks. On that
rationale, I can see that the grandparents would waht to keep a
relationship. But there's only so much breeder ass I would be willing
to kiss before saying 'enough'.
SkyeDS: what I don't get about that is, even if you're going along to
get along outwardly, why is it necessary inwardly to forget what you
know/have learned?
SkyeDS: I mean, inwardly to say white is black and black is white?
SkyeDS: I don't care what I must and must not say outwardly, I refuse
to give up what I know to be true inwardly
evile: yup
evile: denial is a tricky thing. and what you insist on not knowing
with your brain will manifest as physical illness or something
else...your body always knows.
SkyeDS: brb
evile: ok
SkyeDS: bk >backhands misbehaving puter parts
evile: dang ol computers :P
SkyeDS: just had a long satisfying talk with Tracie Byrd
SkyeDS: really do need to sit down and catch up with her some Sunday
evile: that's good.
SkyeDS: although it isn't going to happen in t he next month I don't
think
evile: nope!
SkyeDS: first or second weekend in September I need to go to Salado
before GT.
evile: cute town.
SkyeDS: my parents like to eat at the Stage Coach. I've never
stopped anywhere in Salado. It should be educational.
SkyeDS: I deprived Karen of one of the joys in her life.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: which is telling me that we can't do an equestrian component
in a Demo because lack of marshal and they don't want to have to pay
the extra insurance
SkyeDS: when any number of marshals would attend out of friendship
with me
evile: that's cool :)
SkyeDS: so when they started talking about doing a demo at tablerock
and asking for volunteers
SkyeDS: I said, so sorry, usually we're the first to volunteer, but
we're already performing, so, we'll see you there :)
SkyeDS: :P~~~~~ at Karen and her ilk (the SCA is full of them)
evile: :)
evile: oh, joy, the typsy gypsys won't be at ravens loft. I wonder if
that means the natural magic show is on?
SkyeDS: they won't? wonder when that changed?
SkyeDS: some troupe from Denton wanted$1600 for 4 days. I'm like
fuck. I'm in t he wrong bidness.
evile: dunno, just read email on the yahoo group.
evile: that's what they ASKED for, note they may not have gotten it.
SkyeDS: must have happened since this morning when I read. (before
10:30)
SkyeDS: oh I know Sabrina wouldn't give it to them.
SkyeDS: Robert was going to and she said, um, no.
evile: take a 10 member troupe + a couple of musicians, divide up
$1600, it isn't that much.
SkyeDS: well, they aren't going to get it, regardless.
SkyeDS: jousters on average make $50 a day.
SkyeDS: so figure, $100 a day for two horses, without figuring in
that there are more than two of us involved
SkyeDS: and I'm betting we'll make more than that selling rides,
particularly without having to pay vendor's fees
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: extrapolating "horse act" from "jousting"
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: if you wanted to mark points in an arena
SkyeDS: without using dressage letter markers or a construction cone,
none of which are period
SkyeDS: what would you use?
evile: banners on sticks along the sidelines maybe?
SkyeDS: I'm thinking I can use my saris and my silk veils to mark
cardinal points on the outside rails
SkyeDS: but I meant in the center
evile: dont' really have much of a clue what you're talking about, to
be honest.
SkyeDS: instead of an orange construction cone in the dead center of
an arena
SkyeDS: could use arthur on his stand I guess LOL
evile: I don't really have a mental picture of what it is you're
trying to do...no idea.
SkyeDS: picture an arena.
SkyeDS: I want to mark North, South, East, West, and center.
evile: like...jousting, with the big rail in the middle?
SkyeDS: I can mark NSEW with saris and silk on t he rails (like
banners)
SkyeDS: at home, I mark center with an orange cone
SkyeDS: which would look tacky/not period, at faire
SkyeDS: and since the arena at ravensloft isn't going to be in the
middle of an open field, I can't just stick a small post in the
ground because there is probably some kind of base flooring beneath
the sand.
evile: no clue. I can't think of anything that would not be a danger
to the animals or in danger itself of being squashed.
SkyeDS: I don't need Center marked but sineater does.
evile: well, then make sineater think of a way to mark it without
endangering whoever/whatever is chosen as a marker, and himself& his
horse.
SkyeDS: nods. I will ask him.
evile: arthur - dangerous to himself and possibly the horses
just arthur's stand - horsie impalement
person - trample
? no idea.
SkyeDS: Arthur couldn't be in the middle without groundcrew.
evile: maybe a cement stepping stone. Unless it really needs to be
something sticking up out of the ground.
evile: not great. tripping danger to ground crew and animals, but not
as dangerous as other options.
SkyeDS: he already asked me if while we made the portable arena if he
should make period looking markers
SkyeDS: the problem is, you can't make them to stick in the ground
SkyeDS: at most faires we will be "outside" but in this instance
we're under a covered arena, no "ground" to stick a marker into
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: ok. I emailed J/B to say we can't make practice tonight or
next week, why, and updated her on music and what we're going to do
for faire this next two weekends (KISS, with what we already know)
SkyeDS: I also emailed Sabrina to ask her for directions to her place
from the highway in Emory because we're camping there. We can follow
her to the parade and the fairgrounds, so no directions needed there,
and btw, will we have electricity.
evile: cool.
SkyeDS: I think that's it. I hope.
evile: y'all are going to have a great time :)
SkyeDS: camping in TX in August not bright, probably anywhere but I'm
betting Emory = cooler than Kerrville.
SkyeDS: and even if it isn't, it's still camping w horses v camping
without them
evile: hope so.
SkyeDS: camping in TX in August not being bright notwithstanding
evile: I probably wouldn't do it, myself. but it won't kill you.
SkyeDS: we have portable fans and portable showers now, that should
help some.
evile: yup
SkyeDS: a haybale.
SkyeDS: we'll put a haybale in the center.
SkyeDS: we'll need one for archery anyway.
evile: there ya go.
SkyeDS: won't be as easy to maneuver around as a cone, but we'll deal.
SkyeDS: I was planning 25 minutes of music
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: so that we could get in all three genres, classical,
flamenco, egyptian
SkyeDS: but that doesn't leave time for archery or combat
SkyeDS: the six dances from t he nutcracker are 12 minutes on their
own. and most of the flamenco and egyptian pieces are around 7
minutes each
SkyeDS: maybe the boys could demonstrate combat and archery between
shows, to garner interest in giving rides.
evile: how many shows are you doing per day?
SkyeDS: three on Saturday one on Sunday
evile: could always change focus on each show--first show of the day
is music, 2nd is combat & archery, 3rd is whichever the crowd seemed
to respond best to?
SkyeDS: rather than incorporating crest combat and archery into
the "show" officially, we can do it before and after, and label it
part of being "interactive"
evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: either that, or make each show half and half
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: where each show on saturday has different music
SkyeDS: and then the last half is combat and archery
evile: that could work too :)
SkyeDS: and on Sunday we use whatever piece the crowd seemed to like
best
SkyeDS: I don't know sigh
evile: it'll all work out. You're going to have fun.
SkyeDS: we'll fit everything in somewhere, someway
SkyeDS: by the seat of my pants like I always do
SkyeDS: although I would like to do things not by the seat of my
pants sometimes
evile: *nod*
evile: Time for me to toss papers & run. *hugs* take care of you :)
SkyeDS: HUGS wind to your wings :)
