2580awesome weekend
Oct. 17th, 2004 04:59 pmOct. 17, 2004
Friday, I went to Cedar Street downtown to try and find Dave--the
Holiday Inn was unhelpful in letting me find where he was staying to
leave a message there re: plans for that evening or Saturday a.m.
brunch. So the door guy let me in free! *hee!* and I foun Dave. He
was having a beer with Jerry Barker, the Mayor Pro Tem of the City of
Whitney, who was apparently very impressed with Dave & his former
work for the City of Houston & his current work at the private
corporation he works for. That was nice to hear. Sweetie eventually
parked & joined us for a few beers, and then I extracted us so that
Sweetie could go see Mark's band at Headhunters.
Dave & I had made brunch plans--11 am at Tien Hong. e. ended up
not joining us, so it was just me, Dave, and Sweetie. We had good stuff.
Dave got crab balls, which we rarely get, and tripe, which we never
get. Sweetie was grossed out, but I tried it. Oh, Dave also got the
green stuff, which is "chinese broccoli" I guess? Anyway, it was all
good.
When we were mostly done, I heard a familiar voice and at the booth
behind me & Dave, were onyxlynxx & her friend Nancy. We introduced
ourselves all 'round, and onyxlynxx & I firmed up plans for Monday's
tennis, and it was nice.
After that, Dave took off for sightseeing before going home to
celebrate his 5 year anniversary with David! Wow!
We went back to the house and I think Sweetie went back to sleep. I went
running around. PO box, mall, Ulta, hither & Yon to get the last bits
for my Extravagasm look. I found earrings, a necklace, and little
turquoise blue cabochon dots to put on my face. They were in Hobby
Lobby's section of rhinestones & such for ironing onto clothes. I was
happy to find them, I had been ready to settle for actual
rhinestones, but I wanted a more subtle look. I also found a black
silk blouse at Ross for $15 which I decided to wear to Extravagasm.
I checked in to Rio's room at La quinta, and then ran a bit more.
Went home, shaved & washed up, then took my makeup & outfit back to
the room at La Quinta. Rio got there about 7:30 and started getting
ready, e. got there about 8, and I laced her into her strapless
corset, and put on a tribal glitter tat on her chest just above her
cleavage. It was gorgeous, even if I did spill a ton of black glitter
on her, which we had to brush off.
This is starting to run into what I posted in diaryland, so here's
that:
=========
I've had the most lovely weekend. I spent Saturday shopping hither
and yon for the last few costumey-bits for my Extravagasm look. It
was great fun, and I didn't spend too much money. (I did, however,
get my very first Italian charm bracelet at Claire's. I had to--I
found a bat charm!)
Saturday evening, punkgoddessx came up and we got ready to go. My
friend e came over to the hotel room and we all primped & I helped e
into her corset. Bless her heart--she was trying to put it on so the
laces were in front. There is something fundamentally wrong with the
universe when someone as delicious as e doesn't know enough about
corsets because she doesn't wear them often. I am going to have to
help her work on that...
Extravagasm itself was fun; it was at The Parish, an upstairs club on
Austin's 6th Street. 6th St. is the cool place for college kids and
hipsters and whoever else to congregate on weekend nights. Think
Bourbon Street, but much smaller & tamer. Austinites think of it as
their Bourbon Street, though, so bless their hearts, it's a big deal
to 'em.
We were quite the trio: punkgoddessX was wearing matching light
purple glitter on her eyes and lips & wearing a lovely flowing black
blouse with ties on the sleeves, exposing lots of pretty skin. e was
in a long straight black velvet skirt with a nice slit, a pair of
black leather boots that came up to just below her knee, and the
lovely black strapless corset. I added a black glitter tribal tat. to
just above her cleavage, to accent the loveliness of both her skin &
the cleavage. I wore a black silk blouse & long black skirt, and did
my face in American Tribal style, with small turquoise cabochon type
dots over my eyebrows & one on my chin, to go with my silver-and-
turquoise earrings, necklace, bracelets & finger armor. I was
basically dressing to show off my new jewelry. But I looked pretty
awesome if I do say so my self. I wish I'd thought to bring my camera
to the event itself, but I did get Sweetie to take photos when I got
home (put them in a separate entry for the dialup challenged)
We got to the club a bit before 9, just in time to see the first show-
-a demonstration on mummification using cling wrap. Very
entertaining. Kitty Kitty Bang Bang performed several times, and they
are just adorable. (Neko, you would LOVE them.) Domina Athena's BDSM
scene based on The Matrix was very interesting, but the guy playing
the Neo character took a very hard beating, and my friend Lady
Dreamtime, who is a serious Domme, had problems with the way the
scene was handled. She said it was very unsafe. She was furious. I
don't know enough about it to say what Domina Athena was doing wrong,
though, so I don't know.
We ran into several people I knew from different circles (skate
night, Renfaire, GWNN, etc. [Chris, John & Kris from faire, Acadiana
the fairy from skate night, Zeradite & Nemseratte {Carissa the yankee
bitch} from Typsy Gypsys & Air coolers, Drakon & his wife from Casa
De Luz bellydance night, Ladydreamtime & Rainking1]) and that was great fun. There
was a guy who had done an homage to Adam Ant--the western-style long
sleeve shirt, black leather pants with gun and ammo belt slung low on
deliciously fit hips, boots, and 2 little braids in back. He didn't
have the cool makeup, but he was just adorable, anyway. There were 2
sexy fairies, (one topless) a mermaid wearing a silver tail, and mesh
over her silver-painted breasts, lots of guys in nice black leather
pants, one gal in a liquid latex bra, a guy in head-to toe liquid
latex...Oh, it was just lovely.
We ended up making friends with a local artist named Brian, who was
quite taken with e. He is fairly young ,only 29, but very sweet and
had a nice bod. If I'd been guessing, I probably would have put him
at 23-25. He was tasty. And very much a sweet gentleman; at the end
of the evening he walked us to our car. It was adorable.
Today punkgoddessX and I had brunch at Hoover's, then went wandering
about. We stopped at Secret Oktober, then went to South Congress and
browsed the fun & funky vintage, antique, and oddity stores to be
found there. We met a really interesting glass artist/photographer
named Mike at Austin Glass Works (?) on Congress. That store is
gorgeous--I adore dichroic glass and blown glass...*sigh* The prices
were quite reasonable, and I learned more about how dichroic glass is
made & have an even deeper respect & love for it. It is incredible
stuff.
It has been a lovely day. I have just bid punkgodessX a safe journey
home, and here I am writing about it.
It has been a lovely weekend. I do love having friends, meeting new
people, spending time with people, and shopping. (not necessarily in
that order)
So, shopping, bondage, music, dressing up, and matchmaking.
I think my work here is done!
========
After I wrote that, [Aunt L] called & I went over to her house, got a
bunch of handmedown clothes (mostly winterish work clothes) and
played some 3 handed Gin with her and Father James, who is visiting
for a few weeks. Then I came back to the house, gathered my October
Care Package stuff, got my work stuff together, and did some laundry.
I'm still not hungry! That was one hell of a brunch!
