I had such a fun time last night. My friend appleang, who is a bat
biologist in grad school in Albuquerque, came to town for a long
weekend. This weekend is the CMA Samhain campout, so she came back
for that. So anyway, she wanted Chuy's before she headed out to the
weeds with the pagans, so she invited everyone she knew to meet her
for dinner. appleang brought her new boyfriend Chris, and he is a hoot!

Coincidentally, Festive is in town Wednesday-Saturday morning for a
conference. So, he came by for awhile, too. And, of course, he fit
in right away. He is so good at being sociable with any bunch of
people you can throw him into. You can take him anywhere and
he will just be his charming self with his funny stories, and just
get along with everyone. I really admire that quality in a person. He
and his boyfriend David are having an anniversary this Saturday. I
    think it's 5 years! That's just so cool :)

Man, we had a BLAST. What a fun group of people appleang knows. :) She
reminds me of my mom--she follows her own path in life, wherever it
takes her & has such a diverse bunch of friends. She works hard & is
good at organizing people & events, but is also just a hell of a lot
of fun. We all just laughed and talked and had such a fun time. I
wish that was my life all the time...

I think I'm going to wear that black robe I got from Mom's costumes &
some tribal face thing, and my new silver & turquoise jewelry I got
on ebay & aliya's closet (finger armor, slave bracelet with finger
armor, 2 silver bracelets) maybe some turquoise bindi type stuff on
    my fac.e

    evile: hey :)
    SkyeDS: how do :)
evile: good. 1 day closer to the weekend & had a nice evening
w/friends last night. It's all good.
SkyeDS: I wanted to paste this thing my mother or someone sent me
once about being thankful for various things, so I go out on the
internet to find it, it's a rather well worn set of homilies, but no
    luck
SkyeDS: Chuys' sounded like a blast. We always have a blast when we
go there in groups or otherwise
evile: hm. *shrug* not ringing any bells for me.
evile: Chuy's was great fun. Festive is in town for work & he came by
after his work-stuff was done. He has such a great talent for just
fitting in effortlessly with any group
    SkyeDS: nods I remember
SkyeDS: my parentals have decided, after being informed next weekend
is good but this weekend is not, that they're coming this weekend
    anyway
SkyeDS: I said, well, that's fine
    evile: bizarre.
SkyeDS: you can hang with sonar0m till sineater gets home
SkyeDS: and sineater and sonar0m till I get home
SkyeDS: and then you can keep us company while we pack, and then
    we're leaving
    evile: heh. good for you.
SkyeDS: I appreciate that they bought a hay buggy (not inexpensive)
and that they want to come get me hay
SkyeDS: but I don't need hay
    evile: hm.
SkyeDS: at the moment I don't need a hay buggy either
evile: oh well, it was the thought that counts....
SkyeDS: so when asked why this weekend and not next, the response
was, your mother doesn't have papers this weekend to grade and she
    does next
    evile: Ok then...
SkyeDS: ok, well, I have a weekend event between Lufkin and Beaumont
    this weekend
SkyeDS: and only a day event in Waco next
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and these are group things, so I can't rearrange them to suit
    myself (like papergrading)
    evile: *nod*
evile: If she wasn't prone to carsickness, paper-grading can be done
    in a car...
SkyeDS: she has her reasons and I have mine
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and I'm not going to feel guilty that I'm not dropping
    everything
evile: nope. YOu've had your weekends planned out for months now.
SkyeDS: crafty project twixt now and Hallow's eve
evile: I've got about 3 of those.
SkyeDS: must make crest, 4 - 5" tall, cannot be stuffed animal, of
    the following materials
SkyeDS: stiff leather, of fabric weight leather stuffed, of fabric
stuffed, of wood, and even of gesso. I personally and am planning on
using heavy weight leather. If you use fabric or lighter leather you
will probably want to make a wire frame inside of the crest to hold
    the basic shape.

    evile: sounds interesting.
    SkyeDS: Alex is suggests rawhide
evile: durable, but hard to work with.
SkyeDS: well I will take all the suggestions, give them to sineater, and
let him and M figure it out.
SkyeDS: I just bought two 16 gauge steel Corinthian Greek helmets for
    them
    SkyeDS: not cheap
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: could have gotten fencing masks much cheaper but these look
    good
SkyeDS: I love surprise presents. And they were surprised :)
    evile: good.
SkyeDS: Alexis said rawhide is easier to manipulate if it's wet.
evile: *nod* it also shrinks when you wet it.
SkyeDS: I'm wondering if magnets might not be easier to attach to
    steel than velcro
    evile: probably.
SkyeDS: put magnets on helmet, put duct tape and/or magnets in base
    of crest
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: attach lanyard permanently to crest, and then to helmet with
    another magnet
SkyeDS: I'm already pretty sure that chin straps will have to be
added to the helmets, and that will require Randy's toys and help
    already
SkyeDS: so the less we have to do the better
evile: *nod* You'll want the helmets to be as safe as possible.
SkyeDS: I should have just stuck to fencing masks
SkyeDS: but these look better - more realistic
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: maybe I can talk sineater into making realistic
    looking "horsehair" crests
evile: oh, that would be awesome.
    SkyeDS: rampant vulgar unicorn *grin*
SkyeDS: I can hear Karen screeching now
SkyeDS: "this is a family event and those unicorns have hard ons!"
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: I don't see why it even has to be cut
SkyeDS: why couldn't it be a piece of leather with a device painted
    on it
SkyeDS: then he could do whatever he wanted
    SkyeDS: complex etc
    evile: *shrug* No clue.
SkyeDS: anyway we both love reasons to go to Tandy and here's a good
    one
evile: I was telling sineater there's a place right next door to Tandy
that does sewing machine repairs. My friend Mandi says they're good &
    reasonable.
SkyeDS: maybe they could help me replace my broken needle and figure
    out how to wind bobbins
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: since it isn't self explanatory and I have the instruction
booklet for a machien that isn't mine
SkyeDS: don't ask how that happened, I don't know
evile: I hate my bobbin thingy.
SkyeDS: I thought I remembered how, but I remember how on Gramma's
    machine, not mine
    evile: too bad :(
SkyeDS: I'm sure it will be simple for a repair place
SkyeDS: they'll probably laugh at me :)
    evile: I doubt they'll laugh.
SkyeDS: sok, I laugh at me
evile: It's bad customer service to laugh at customers.
SkyeDS: well, in t his case it would be laughing with me, not at me
SkyeDS: "she of the dumb questions" will probably be on my tombstone
evile: who knows, they might be able to find the correct manual for
    you. :)
    SkyeDS: that would be nice
SkyeDS: I have yards of lovely panne and burntout silk that I should
    do something with
SkyeDS: I'm thinking tassel belt with the tassels from Ragi's old
garb, even though theyr'e very mix and match
evile: I have lots of fabric, but it'sn ever what I want for whatever
project I have in mind, so I go buy more & add it to the stash.
SkyeDS: and I could probably make pants and beledi or gawazee
SkyeDS: I have 9 yards of the most beautiful white burnout silk I
don't know what I'm going to do with
SkyeDS: it was pretty so I bought it
SkyeDS: burnout = see through pattern
evile: there's lots of patterns available. Even Simplicity has a
    fairly inauthentic middle eastern/bellydance pattern
SkyeDS: oops, 9 feet, not yards ....3 yards
    evile: *nod*
evile: I got all my silver & 'turquoise' jewelry in, but now I have
no idea what to wear it with.
SkyeDS: LOVE pretty shinies and sparklies :)
evile: me too. I just dont' have any clothes that go with my jewelry.
maybe I'll just wear plain black.
evile: Go opposite of showing body--do really extravagant
tribal/bindi makeup and funky nails & jewelry, and then wear
something very concealing for the body.
SkyeDS: I got very pretty bindi with my last two sets
evile: I'm thinking of picking up some cabochons at hobby lobby. I
    already have spirit gum
evile: Festive doesn't get done with work stuff until 8pm, so I've
got time afte work to run around. Ulta & Hobby lobby --WHEE!
    SkyeDS: fun! :D
evile: Yup. I like Having A Mission
evile: People are annoying me today. I dont' know if I am
communicating poorly or if there's just a bunch of Stupid that got
into the water supply, or WHAT. but it's pissing me off.
    SkyeDS: :(
evile: First with the woman who has irrelevant crap to post in austin
poly yahoo group, then Jon. I post in onyxlynxx's LJ that I'm going to a
show this weekend, and Jon posts "are you going?"...um, no. I just
SAID I was going so that you would show up and be all alone and feel
    bad.
    SkyeDS: rofl
SkyeDS: speaking of polys with LJs
evile: I think "is anyone from Austin going, who needs riders, who
needs rides" was pretty darn clear communication.
SkyeDS: any idea who dreaming tree is?
evile: I also think "I'm going to Extravagasm" is pretty fucking self
    explanatory.

evile: is it dreaming_tree, or dreamingtree, or ??
    SkyeDS: first one
SkyeDS: has a friend named X and I was just wondering
evile: her LJ is friends only. I don't recognize the name, and the
user info is too generic to say if I know her or not.
    SkyeDS: figures
evile: how do you know she has a friend named X?
evile: let's see, in her friends list I know, or have met: kaleon,
ladydreamtime, riversidepath, thewordnerd, ubiquity, and vixengrrl
SkyeDS: she's made mention in her posts of a friend named X
SkyeDS: which of course makes me curious
SkyeDS: since our circles do tend to be small
    evile: *shrug*
SkyeDS: would mean X has been keeping some interesting male
    company lately considering <shrug>
evile: X, last I knew of her, was shacking up with a young,
tattooed man. Which would not preclude her having a sexual
relationship with dreaming tree, I guess, but unless dreaming tree
ahs a lot of $, a house, or babysitting skills, X probably
    wouldn't bother with her.
evile: and it's always been easier for X to use men for stuff than
    women.
SkyeDS: oh well, the trouble some people get themselves into is
    entertaining to watch
evile: X seems to prefer monogamy with cheating, rather than
anything openly poly. In her history most of her manufactured drama
was cheating and/or stealing men from other women.
evile: and in order to do that successfully, one must first create
the illlusion of monogamy & exclusivity.
SkyeDS: well, if what I suss might be happening really is, and it
isn't coincidence, he should know better
SkyeDS: and if he doesn't I'm going to laugh until I die
evile: what do you think is happening?
    evile: with whom?
    SkyeDS: with kaleon, possibly again?
    SkyeDS: quite possibly
evile: Oh. Think he found X again?
SkyeDS: might not be the same X of course
    evile: hm.
evile: so you think he and X are having a thing and X is also
having a thing with dreaming tree?
    SkyeDS: no
SkyeDS: just that dreaming tree has a friend named X a nd I was
    wondering if twere same
evile: so I am not seeing anything laughably trainwrecky yet...
SkyeDS: wouldn't be if they aren't one and the same
evile: He and X can do whatever tehy want, more power to 'em, and
    I don't care.
evile: Of course, he doesn't hardly have a pot to piss in, not even
a car, so why would she bother with him?
    SkyeDS: dunno
evile: I mean...at least kaleon isn't a druggie, child abuser or
molestor, so I really wouldn't mind if he ended up with X, at
least the kids wouldn't be exposed to whatever.
SkyeDS: I still think it would be funny, after all the water under
    the bridge
    evile: *shrug* dont' care.
SkyeDS: not what he'd do to her, what she would do to him
    evile: His choice.
    SkyeDS: yep
evile: rather an out of the frying pan into the fire situation, IMHO,
but...whatever. His life, he can do what he likes.
SkyeDS: his penchant for that is amusing
SkyeDS: but then I'm easily amused
evile: He thought he had a bad thing with you, well at least you were
honest-- I am poly, here is my life, accept it or go away.
SkyeDS: apparently now I cheated on him
evile: With X, she'd be making elaborate gestures of unending
love, devotion, and fidelity, picking his pocket, and goign to spend
the money on drugs for her unknown-to-him lover.
evile: and leaving him to babysit her kids.
evile: there are ways to be dishonest & cheat in poly, but I think in
this case it is more an instance of what he chose to hear vs what you
    actually said.
SkyeDS: that would be putting it VERY loosely
SkyeDS: in that he'd have to completely not hear anything and claim
that I slept with sonar0m without his foreknoweldge
SkyeDS: meaning I would have said NOTHING
SkyeDS: but I wouldn't put it past him to claim t hat
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: anyway, it was just idle curiosity - of which I have enough
    to kill 9 cats
SkyeDS: and, apparently, whomever filed the suit won half the money
in the CMA treasury after all
evile: yeah, i suppose it would be interesting to be a fly on the
    wall for all of that
SkyeDS: and that's how the ESA was founded
    evile: heh. Interesting.
SkyeDS: now that I'm getting old(er), and have panoramas to look back
    upon, people are funny
    evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: not too long ago kaleon was digging at me because sonar0m is so
    young
SkyeDS: at least he isn't jailbait, one of kaleon's new ladyloves is
not even 16 yet (that makes her 10 years younger AND jailbait)
    evile: wow.
SkyeDS: and then of course the whole thing with X criticizing my
poly practice and then what she did
SkyeDS: Cady taking a shot at me a very long time ago and then losing
    her hubby
evile: X likes jealousy games, she'd never be honestly poly.
SkyeDS: interesting things happen if you just sit back and watch
instead of meddle all the time
    evile: *nod*
evile: He's probablly more emotionally compatible with someone that
age...but the law is pretty sticky about such things.
evile: Come to think of it, J[godddaughter] turned 14 this year. Nevermind
about him dating X. bad idea.
    SkyeDS: ROFL
    SkyeDS: mfiao
SkyeDS: so he's got one poly/pagan friend, who may or may not know me
past his rantings, and that's what he translates into "every poly &
pagan in Austin who knows her hates her"
evile: *shrug* you know that's not true, so why does it matter?
    SkyeDS: it doesn't
    SkyeDS: but it makes sense
SkyeDS: I like when things are true to pattern, as long as I know
    what the pattern is
evile: and, if dreaming tree were anyone, I'd know her. I've been
hanging with the austin polys for, what, 2 years now?
SkyeDS: I have no clue who she is, so I don't know if I know her or
    not
SkyeDS: I have a reputation, not completely deserved, so she probably
has heard of me, if  not met me
evile: well, she's not anybody in Austin Poly.
SkyeDS: but one poly/pagan does not "every poly/pagan in Austin" make
evile: and neither is he. So nobody in Austin Poly thinks anything of
you that they didn't think of you by meeting you.
SkyeDS: except when you put it in the Drama Exponential Expansion
    box :)
    evile: heh.
evile: If it makes him happy to rant to his invisible imaginary
friends about what a cunt you are...so what.
SkyeDS: when I get bored I read Friends of Friends in ever widening
    circles
    evile: *nod* me too.
SkyeDS: so I ended up with dreaming_tree going through you, onyxlynxx,
    lady_dreamtime, etc
evile: judging by her friends list, she's not much of an entity in
    the GWNN/Voyagers scene, either.
SkyeDS: sometimes I do feel a little limited
SkyeDS: like, if I go to polys, or gwnn, am I going to run into
    someone I don't want to
SkyeDS: be it him or someone he's prattled to
evile: his 1 friend, who doesn't go to austin poly dinners, either?
    yeah, tha'ts likely.
SkyeDS: but I don't have much time at the moment anyway. and when I
do have more time, I'm more interested in going back to singing
    karaoke with Aeris.
evile: ladydreamtime likes karaoke too. so does hojo.
SkyeDS: and when I do start doing poly/pagan/bdsm stuff, it isn't
like I'll be alone, or that I couldn't handle myself if I were
SkyeDS: I'm a big girl now
SkyeDS: I have my own spark of the divine flame, thank you very much
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: the little circles on LJ are also interesting
SkyeDS: for example, dreaming_tree knows ubiquity and wordnerd
SkyeDS: Christopher Alex and sineater have a shared friend
evile: *nod* or at least they read one anothers LJ.
evile: she has been on the poly austin yahoo group since march and
    has never posted. http://profiles.yahoo.com/grayestrain
SkyeDS: the internet makes the world bigger and smaller all at the
    same time, interesting paradox that
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: so I'm cruising along, hopskipjumping from poly peeps to
renny peeps to pagan peeps along these interesting LJ pathways
SkyeDS: and end up running smack into a path I really need not to
follow even out of morbid curiosity
SkyeDS: and he still isn't over it
    SkyeDS: wtf
evile: he posting in other peoples LJ's about you, too? Or just his
    own?
    SkyeDS: both
    evile: wow. poor guy.
SkyeDS: get the fuck over it already
SkyeDS: you keep saying thank god I'm free
SkyeDS: well if you keep posting about it you sure the hell aren't
    free
evile: *gently*...if you keep looking at his crap, are you free?
evile: (and letting it upset you)
SkyeDS: I knew when I ran into it I shouldn't have
SkyeDS: doesn't upset me, actually I thought it was funny
SkyeDS: although then I felt guilty because that's mean
    SkyeDS: and I'm not mean
SkyeDS: I did, I knew better, when I looked at the friends list
evile: what is that thing.."turn away from taht which opposes the
    good in you"?
SkyeDS: but, in that she's friended with so many of your friends
(ubiquity, wordnerd and ladydreamtime) I don't know, it got the best
    of me
evile: well, ubiquity is a total friend slut, so I dont' know if
that's a valid connection at all.
SkyeDS: she has a sex filter set up too. alot of people do
SkyeDS: I'm not even brave enough to post, filter or no filter
evile: well, no rule saying you have to. Do what feels comfortable
    for you.
SkyeDS: was disconcerting to have that come across my concentricity
    (and yes I knew better)
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: anyway, his friends list is short, and now that I've seen it,
makes it easier to avoid those persons
SkyeDS: I haven't got many LJ friends, and half of them haven't
friended me mutually (I don't know if they know I friended them or
    not, I didn't tell them)
SkyeDS: but I have enough that reading their friends
SkyeDS: and then their friends friends
    SkyeDS: is quite time consuming
evile: I rarely check my info page to see who has friended/unfriended
    me.
    SkyeDS: me either
evile: maybe 1ce a month, if that.
evile: thewordnerd re: dreaming tree: "I've never seen any rants in
her LJ at all; she doesn't seem the type to rant about others in that
    forum, at least."
SkyeDS: that's good to know - for whatever it's worth
evile: *shrug* worrying what non-entities think of you is pointless,
    but sometimes happens anyway.
SkyeDS: I have my hands full with what people who do know me think
    anyway
    evile: true dat!
SkyeDS: mostly I was curious if the circle were small enough that her
friend X was the x we know
evile: there is an LJ I would probably read like a dog going to its
    own vomit...sad to say.
evile: If she had one, I'd be lookign at it. sad/sick/sad.
    SkyeDS: ?
    SkyeDS: who X?
evile: X, if she had one and I found it.
evile: so, glad I haven't run across it in friends-of-friends, if it
    exists.
SkyeDS: well, you know it's a possibility
evile: yeah, but I don't wanna know.
    SkyeDS: I hear ya
evile: it was bad enough finding her fotolog.
    SkyeDS: what was in it?
evile: I'd resisted looking at that since July or so, but looked
again today just to check her freinds list there to see if any of
them matched LJ names I knwo.
evile: it's just photos. You get to post so many free photos per day,
and people can comment on them and whatever.
evile: Wierd, she hadn't updated since last I looked, except for
    recently, too. ick.
SkyeDS: I wouldn't have been surprised if there had been disturbing
    pics
evile: I think it's like LJ in that you can set freinds groups where
    you post more explicit photos
    evile: http://xtallys.yafro.com/
SkyeDS: I like yahoo fine for pics right now
    evile: *nod*
evile: and you can set up friends views there, too.
evile: (the only thing I dont' liek about my new photo gallery, I
can't figure out a way to do private albums or friends-only albums)
evile: So far I have critters, magpies & sweetie:
    http://www.freaks.net/eek/gallery/
evile: well, it's 4. Time to shuffle paper.
