I got some kind of 'native american crafts' catalog, most of the
stuff was pretty tacky. t shirts with horses & buffalo & crap.

But I liked the petroglyph soaps. Found more stuff online.

You will need approximately 3 ¾ ounces of soap base for the rock
crystal mold. I recommend using clear base so as to make the best use
of light moving through the finished soap crystal. All the items used
in this project are available through our supply pages. For detailed
directions on using melt and pour soap base see the articles "Six
Easy Steps" and "Advanced Tips" listed on the site map.

Melt about 3 ½ ounces of your clear base and color as desired. Use
transparent colors to make the best use of light. I especially like
to use fushia (for garnets) or purple (for amethysts). If you add
fragrance, try and add one that will not color or cloud your base.
Pour your melted soap into your mold and spray with alcohol to remove
any bubbles. Your mold will be almost, but not completely full. Melt
and color your remaining base gold. After a very thin skin has formed
on the soap in your crystal mold, make a small pierce in the skin and
pour the gold over that spot. A little of the gold will flow down
into the other color. Spray the surface with alcohol and pour the
remaining gold over the entire surface. Spray again to remove any
bubbles on the surface. Because you are pouring a very thin layer of
gold on top of your first color, be sure your gold is warm enough to
stick to the first layer. Let your crystal set up and then unmold.
Since these crystals are made in thick "rubber" molds, they take
longer to set up then other molds do. So, be sure it is set up before
popping out. If it is not set entirely, some of the deepest facets
may still be liquid. If this happens make up a little more of the
color you are using, pour a small amount into the mold and
immediately place the crystal back into the mold. Some of the melted
soap will "squish" out the sides but that is OK. Let it set up again
and when you pop it out, things should be fine. The types of
crystals you can make are endless, so let your imagination go wild.
These soaps make wonderful birthstones. A listing of the birthstones
    by month is below.

    1. Gel colorant suggestions: fushia red, purple, blue, green, warm
    yellow, orange, etc.
    2. Birthstones by month: January=Garnet; February=Amethyst;
    March=Aquamarine; April=Diamond; May=Emerald; June=Alexandrite,
    Pearl; July=Ruby; August=Peridot; September=Sapphire;
    October=Tourmaline; November=Topaz; December=Zircon.

evile: hey! How did everything go yesterday?
SkyeDS: got my case dismissed due to insufficient evidence (good)
SkyeDS: had the ribbon cutting (anticlimatic but good)
SkyeDS: had my interview, made one misstep that I hope wasn't fatal,
tried to correct misstep in thank you letter, we'll see bout that.
    evile: I'm glad!
SkyeDS: went to my hearing today, and I'm ready to go home now (and
don't get to go of course until 6:30 and have to go to the doctor)
    SkyeDS: how was your day?
evile: Do you have an idea of when they'll get back with you if you
    get the job?
SkyeDS: they wanted to make a decision today so I should hear late
    today or monday
SkyeDS: unless of course they aren't polite and don't call me at all
    to say thank you but...
    evile: wow, that's quick.
SkyeDS: (I don't like that, I always write thank you letters)
evile: yeah..if you got a letter out today it might arrive by Monday,
    but still...
    SkyeDS: emailed it
    SkyeDS: on inside advice
SkyeDS: always try to email or fax if I can, faster.
evile: not as pretty, but yeah.
evile: I was amused to find that Nikiyoy (Amazon Girl of the Polys) has
a job that I interviewed for a few years ago. Wonder what happened in
    the intervening years?
SkyeDS: so the guy said what are you looking for permanent for since
you run a successful business on your own for so many years.
SkyeDS: and I said, well, actually, I wasn't exactly looking, ya'll
    called me.
    evile: ooh...tough question.
SkyeDS: I stay busy, and only have time to look between contracts,
so the opportunity to look comes few and far between
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: and, therefore I have the luxury, practically necessitate
itself, to be selective of where I apply, because I haven't got time
or inclination to be permanently job hunting because I do have a
    business to run.
SkyeDS: so, I picked you in December.
SkyeDS: and you called me back, this week.
    SkyeDS: and here I am.
    evile: cool.
SkyeDS: and I pointed out, that like him, I have the luxury right now
of working only with nice people I like
SkyeDS: and doing the jobs I am good at and enjoy doing
    evile: good for you!
SkyeDS: and so the only reason for me to consider giving up my
business, would be to combine those two luxuries I currently
    enjoy....with one I DON'T have right now
    SkyeDS: which is longevity.
SkyeDS: of course no independent contractor ever enjoys that luxury.
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: so, I would be willing to give up my business, if and only
if, I retain the two luxuries I have now, with the chance of
    attaining the third one.
    evile: true.
SkyeDS: that was as candid and straightforward an answer as I could
give, and mayble he'll notice, and maybe he'll appreciate it, or not.
    SkyeDS: I liked the place
SkyeDS: I still want the job.
    evile: *fingers crossed*
SkyeDS: I learned some valuable interview techniques from Spherion so
    we'll see :)
evile: Interviewing is the worst part.
SkyeDS: obviously he isn't so hot at picking people
SkyeDS: he interviewed some woman in December
SkyeDS: she had to give 30 days notice
    evile: yuck.
SkyeDS: then the day before her first day
    SkyeDS: which is like recently
SkyeDS: she calls in and says can't do it
    evile: crazy!
SkyeDS: for some reason that they weren't inclined to tell me
SkyeDS: seems like there was some "scandal" about it
SkyeDS: they didn't even interview me in December, said they got 75
resumes (usually I'm competing against as many as 300 lately)
SkyeDS: so I'm wondering why I make the cut now, and didn't then
    evile: hm.
SkyeDS: and am not terribly impressed with their ability to select a
    good candidate anyway.
evile: Could mean some poor fits among the coworkers.
SkyeDS: and he's never had a personal assistant before so he has no
    clue.
SkyeDS: but, I made a favorable impression on his wife, and the other
potential coworker who interviewed me, I just don'tn know how much
weight their opinions will have, the final decision is obviously his.
    evile: right.
    SkyeDS: /me shrugs
SkyeDS: life will go on regardless
    evile: true.
SkyeDS: and if sineater doesn't get more nibbles soon, I'll send out more
resumes and look around some more
    evile: good plan.
SkyeDS: train him for two weeks and let him take over the business
    here.
    evile: That would be good.
SkyeDS: damn I'm glad it's Friday.
    evile: me too.
evile: I've got a couple more hours of OT tomorrow a.m. and then I'm
    off to Excalibur.
SkyeDS: I would, but we're broke, and fences don't seem inclined to
put themselves up by themselves (damn them)
evile: Saturday night, I'm not sure if I'm going to try to make the
bellydance show at Natural Magic _and_ Nikiyoy's 21st bday, or just pick
    one.
SkyeDS: if Wayne doesn't shred this weekend, I'm going to burn
SkyeDS: on both sides ofo the creek
    evile: wow.
SkyeDS: maybe when he sees me playing with matches and gasoline he'll
be in more of a hurry to shred the house side of the creek.
SkyeDS: but I can't keep putting it on hold indefinitely.
    evile: hee.
evile: Sharjinka is making noises about wanting to adopt one of the
LSER horses. I don't think she's serious. But I did tell her you're
    boarding & such these days.
SkyeDS: which she damn well knows anyway because I've only posted it
on 3 different sites, in addition to telling her that myself on many
    occasions.
evile: well, like I said, she's doing her usual wishy washy noise-
    making signifying nothing deal.
    evile: (I think, anyway)
SkyeDS: I do live 45 miles away from her, more or less, that may be
    part of it
SkyeDS: and money is always an issue
evile: Then again, I'd rather see someone thinking it through and
realizing that she doesn't have the time/$
SkyeDS: I can't believe she'd be thinking about any major unnecessary
purchases before a dig in Greece that requires her to work three jobs
    evile: *shrug*
SkyeDS: but as she knows, I would be delighted to take care of a
horse for her, specially a rescue
evile: I honestly dont think she has the time to invest right now. It
would end up being your animal instead of hers if she got it now.
SkyeDS: I don't care about time investment as long as she pays the
bill on time, actually (that's her loss, not mine)
SkyeDS: but the same thing that keeps her from having time (three
jobs) means she doesn't have money (Greece dig, for which she is
working three jobs to begin with?)
evile: Just strikes me as cruelty to adopt an animal you don't have
time for. Even if he is adequately fed & vetted, they need time
    with 'their' people.
SkyeDS: well, I don't remember if I heard X say this or who (I
    think it was X(
    SkyeDS: had child
SkyeDS: was away working all day
    SkyeDS: child bonded to babysitter
SkyeDS: Mom's loss when that happens
SkyeDS: horse is going to bond to someone, and that's likely to be
    me, if others aren't careful
SkyeDS: Merrik and Strider are both bonded to me just as strongly as
they are to the Wrinkles (although their bondings are going well and
    that makes me happy :)
evile: yup. But you've got your own babies to take care of.
SkyeDS: thankfully neither of mine are time intensive
SkyeDS: of course I've come to realize through comparison that mine
are about as perfect as they come. forgive what i know sounds
    immodest.
evile: But I could see them developing bad habits if they got jealous
of time spent with other babies.
SkyeDS: not going to spin my mental wheels over it anyway, till I get
a call to show up somewhere with my trailer
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: since she isn't going to show up on the doorstep with one in
tow, I don't think, since she has not truck to even pull rent trailer
SkyeDS: (you can rent trailers down off 35 and Cesar Chavez)
    evile: true.
SkyeDS: did you write a business plan for Magpies"
    SkyeDS: ?
SkyeDS: and how many pages was it and how long did it take you and
did you use software for financial analysis and forecast?
evile: nope nope and nope (one of many contributing factors to my
    failure)
evile: poly dinner last night was good. I had a great chat with the
    Tuscany Market Wine Guru.
SkyeDS: maybe that would be a nice place to go for our anniversary
SkyeDS: the ever annoying to other people question, outdoor seating
    any chance?
evile: I am looking forward to the end of my self-enforced sobriety.
They have a very cool tasting room.
evile: There is outdoor seating. It's in a strip center type thing,
there are tables outside. it's sort of "italian la madelaine" with
gourmet groceries & a wine tasting room
SkyeDS: so I still need to try Tuscany and at some point Siena. You
might want to try Bellagio (past 360 on 2222)
evile: After end of March, I'm not going anywhere anymore.
    SkyeDS: :(
    evile: nah, it's good.
SkyeDS: is the lack of car going to be temporary?
evile: If I can't leave the house, my opportunities for wasting $ on
stupid things diminishes greatly. Of course, there's still
    amazon.com. And I've discovered zappos.com
SkyeDS: eventually going to lease another one?
SkyeDS: get one of the existing ones functional?
evile: I am never leasing again, I don't think.
SkyeDS: since I want a hybrid and a one ton dually next and I do high
    miles, I might never lease.
SkyeDS: got three inches taken off the top of my hair and a foot even
    off the back
    SkyeDS: I feel bald
evile: sometimes you need to do that to keep your hair healthy.
SkyeDS: when it came time to renew my card in the paper I changed out
    cards
SkyeDS: and I went lookin in yesterday's paper, and finally found my
card, after lengthy search, because they changed the font entirely.
    evile: wow.
SkyeDS: I don't know how they did that.
SkyeDS: obviously they didn't use the card itself (which I know they
    did last time).
evile: wierd. sounds like they made more work for themselves.
SkyeDS: don't know what their deal is, I might call them, I don't
know if it's worth saying anything about
SkyeDS: it's the same exact font on th e card that was on the last one
SkyeDS: I just don't like the font they used, but the information is
good, so does it even matter.
evile: You might be able to get a deal if you fuss at 'em, though. A
    free week or something.
SkyeDS: I will give it thought. I'm being wishy washy.
evile: When I had my bus trip ad in the Chron. they fucked up and I
got a free week. Not that it did a rats ass bit of good, but
still...got $60 worth of ad for free.
SkyeDS: there's nothing logically wrong with what they did
SkyeDS: the font I use is just my personal preference, that's all
SkyeDS: guess it wouldn't hurt to just call and ask, um, what
    happened?
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: this is not the card I gave you, so what's the deal
evile: Hopefully they'll do something nice for you.
SkyeDS: I will call and give them the chance to
    evile: good. :)
SkyeDS: but I don't think i'm going to make too much noise if they
    don't
SkyeDS: because it really isn't worth a lot of noise, I don't think
SkyeDS: it isn't damaging. just ugly.
evile: Hopefully they'll be professional about it
SkyeDS: guess who just msged me LOL
    evile: ?
    SkyeDS: Jinx
    evile: heh.
evile: Sunshine & I had an interesting chat re: Jinx on Saturday.
    He's an insightful child.
    SkyeDS: do tell?
evile: Just about her high-drama & such.
SkyeDS: well I told her straight up
SkyeDS: look, I can talk you into it, or talk you out of it, either
    way
SkyeDS: I could successfully debate either side
    evile: hee. Good for you!
    SkyeDS: s'truth <shrug>
SkyeDS: I am just so much happier hanging out with SCA
SkyeDS: there are so few individuals left in HFS anymore that I want
    to see
SkyeDS: and I can see them, without HFS
SkyeDS: although I really do want to see the fireworks over Kit
SkyeDS: even Sharjinka had to agree there will be fireworks
    evile: oh well.
SkyeDS: and I had a somewhat disconcerting dream of the prophetic kind
SkyeDS: but I will have to content myself to just hear about it,
whilest I am burning things down LOL
    evile: hee!
SkyeDS: there's an SCA youth event same weekend as eeyore's, so I'm
not going to bother with Eeyore's <shrug>
SkyeDS: and if people want to politicize, fine
SkyeDS: (it would never occur to them to help us out, the way
    Drandmir does for their folk)
    evile: good for you :)
SkyeDS: Drandmir is helping Jinx finance Greece (I just found that
    out)
    evile: nice.
evile: Good, because I was feeling guilty about not paypal-ing her
any $ when she asked for it.
SkyeDS: I didn't know she asked for it
evile: she put up a little linky thing in her LJ
SkyeDS: I do try to keep up with Drandmir (I'm still on the group and
all) but I belong to more than a dozen groups now and I just can't
    keep up
SkyeDS: I'd be reading all damn day every day
evile: at the time I didn't have it to give.
    SkyeDS: ah
SkyeDS: well SCA is asking for donations, and I told them, as they
already knew anyway, I have no money to donate but I do have time and
    hands
SkyeDS: and they are happy with that (with or without horses)
evile: I just got done ditching all the pagan yahoo groups & LJ
communities I was on. I was tired of the bitching and namecalling and
    bullshit.
SkyeDS: I belong to a handful of strictly strega groups but I only
check the coven's with any regularity
SkyeDS: last time I had anything to say on Raven's, I cut loose with
    the sword
SkyeDS: which garnered me four offers from Teachers, LOLOL
    evile: good.
SkyeDS: I never have done the LJ thing (like I need something else
    that requires time and attention)
evile: I just decided that my faith is earth based, and not the 'get
drunk and fuck in the woods and leave a bunch of trash behind when I
    leave' earth based, either.
SkyeDS: and it seems to me people are always feuding over what
    someone said in their LJ
SkyeDS: I cause enough trouble with my mouth as tis.
evile: I try really hard to keep it 'what I'm doing/where Im going'
but it's too easy to bitch there sometimes.
evile: Anyway, I'm going to see about putting my money where my mouth
is as far as Service to the Earth, and join some orgs that are more
into that and less into the dragging 15 tons of trash into the woods
and leaving 5 of it behind, along with a scorched circle when they
    leave.
SkyeDS: I figure buying a hybrid is a practical way of putting money
    where mouth is
SkyeDS: trip to Tanglewood is putting money where mouth is
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: nurturing my land, for the sake of t he horses, an d the
turtles, and the raptors, and the cardinals and the mockingbirds,
    ain't nothin to sneeze at
    SkyeDS: so no, I don't have an herb garden (f'ing deal, k? :) )
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: not you, but like I'm the only person in the coven without a
    garden, apparently
SkyeDS: hello, I'm living the life of a pagan, I'm not just
    approximating it here and there
evile: One of the things christianity could teach old time religions
the value of changing to fit the times and the environment
SkyeDS: I mean, pagan means rural
    SkyeDS: and rural is me
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I spend weeks on end sometimes meditating on the luxury of
indoor plumbing because when the phone, the isp and the electricity
are all out, it's literally the only luxury I have.
evile: And I'm an urban discordian witch and I dont give a rats ass
if my path is 'inauthentic'...it works for me and it seems to amuse
    deity.
SkyeDS: what you're going through is one of the reasons I get annoyed
with being called a new ager
    SkyeDS: no....wiccans are new agers
SkyeDS: crystal and tree huggers might be new agers.
SkyeDS: I am a rural dwelling witch. Period. Nothing new age here.
SkyeDS: "you might be a redneck pagan if..." lol
evile: It's not for me to judge...if they get in touch with the
divine that way, OK. But I don't, and they annoy me, so why should I
    hang out with them.
evile: I wanted a sense of community with regard to my spirituality,
but I'm beginning to see that god is where you find it/her/them, and
ti's better to look for spirituality in ones communities rather than
    vice versa.
    evile: at least for me.
SkyeDS: I am as much an outcast in the pagan community as I was in
    the Xian community
SkyeDS: I was a devout Xian for 20 years you know
evile: Xianity isn't all bad. It's just the followers that are a pain
    in the ass.
evile: And I'm finding that statement is the truth even when you
substitute 'wiccan' or any other flavor of religion.
evile: Get people together in a group and you get the politics and
the bs and the ego-based garbage.
SkyeDS: I think it just takes 3 people to create politics
SkyeDS: that makes for two sides and one stuck in the middle
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: moving from xian community to pagan community is same shit
    different day
evile: yup. I'd rather skip the people nonsense and just walk with
    god/dess on my own.
SkyeDS: I have my own little circle of spiritual friends
SkyeDS: very few of whom are other pagans, many of whom are
Xians .... and I mean, preachers, and priests, and rabbis
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I have one friend who is a lutheran preacher...one who was
high broad church anglican priest and is now EO priest....and one
    rabbi
evile: That is my thought in getting more involved in what's
important to me. Hopefully I'll find some people I can bond with
    spiritually, too.
SkyeDS: lots in the bible worth knowing
SkyeDS: I like my red letter edition where what Christ said is in red
    evile: sure.
SkyeDS: like "ye shall know a tree by its fruit"
SkyeDS: hang around with people who are what you'd like to be
SkyeDS: and find out how they got that way
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: speaking of which, thou art hanging about rather late for a
    Friday afternoon...
evile: the only 1 of the 12 steps I really agree with: stick with
    winners in order to grow.
SkyeDS: I should read whatever the 12 steps are, I guess
    evile: Mostly religious codependent claptrap.
SkyeDS: Susan Powter, whatever one might t hink of her abrasive
    personality
SkyeDS: if you applied her logic to any situation, it's good logic
    for breaking addictions
SkyeDS: not just food addictions I wouldn't think
SkyeDS: I dont' use the actual food plan part of her diet, but I
listen to the tapes and they are excellent motivation
    evile: http://www.al-anon.alateen.org/12steps.html
evile: hm. I don't see 'stick with winners in order to grow'...but I
remember that as a step in PDAP. Oh well. Wherever I got it, I like
    that one.
SkyeDS: ok, I can see the intent there
SkyeDS: but I can see where the room for abuse is too
SkyeDS: by people who are prone to bend the rules just shy of
breaking them and using them to their own ends and justification etc
SkyeDS: "I can't do this by myself so I'm going to make it God's
    problem"
SkyeDS: and of course most mainstream Xianity encourages that
SkyeDS: but I think what frustrates J [mother in law] so much for example is
that she tries t o let God bear her burdens and it doesn't get her
    anywhere fast
evile: And it's a great crutch and a nice way to once again point the
    finger at someone else.
SkyeDS: I mean...when I'm in need or hurting, of course I pray
SkyeDS: of course I do ritual when I ought to and ask nicely and say
    thank you
SkyeDS: but meanwhile I'm busting my butt doing as much for myself as
    can humanly be done
SkyeDS: and I'll be damned if I ever admit that something outside of
myself is more powerful than me (other than t he Divine of course)
    evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: and the Divine seems inclined to reward that method too
SkyeDS: of course you should ask, because if you don't ask for help,
    you won't receive
SkyeDS: but don't ask for help and then don't help yo urself
    evile: bingo
SkyeDS: that's like lighting a green candle and sitting on your ass
on the couch watching Springer and eating bonbons rather than sending
    out a resume
SkyeDS: clue: light a candle, do a ritual AND send out a resume.
SkyeDS: I have never understood the dichotomies people set up to
    hinder and limit themselves
SkyeDS: I'm scientific, so I can't have faith or believe in magic (or
    vice versa)
SkyeDS: I use Word so I can't use Word Perfect (or vice versa)
evile: I can just hear X in group: "Of course I love my children
more than anything in the world and I want to make a good home for
them, but *whine* I'm just so powerless over my addiction!"
SkyeDS: I'm logical so I can't be intuitive (or vice versa)
SkyeDS: I dont' see how it's helpful to consider yourself powerless
    evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: perhaps it would be more accurate to say that you have to
this point been unable to deal with it successfully, for whatever
    reason that is
evile: I think a lot of religions & aa groups & probably others are
set up to make people abdicate their own power & follow a
    personality/guru
SkyeDS: no thanks. I'm not good at that.
SkyeDS: nor would I want to be the guru either.
SkyeDS: although technically I guess teaching lessons and training
puts me on that path, or whatever
SkyeDS: I think it more correct to say, "I have allowed this
addiction to have power over me"
evile: the difference is that your learning/recovery would not be
shattered without the presence of a single certian person, I think.
SkyeDS: and "I now choose not to allow this addiction to have power
    over me, anymore"
SkyeDS: you don't notice me blaming my weight problem on God, or
    expecting God to solve it
SkyeDS: or any other person/ality either
    evile: yup
evile: Well, I've got about a half hour before I leave. I'm going to
see if I can sneak over and get some copies done.
SkyeDS: I'm leaving at 6:30 (usual time) and headed for the dr again
SkyeDS: maybe he'll take this off me for my birthday
    evile: good luck!
    SkyeDS: /me hugs
evile: *hugs* Take care of you!
    SkyeDS: you do the same!
