2054ICQ: me & A

    Mar. 29, 2004

    evile: hi!
SkyeDS: /me hugs, how was Excal?
    evile: didn't go.
SkyeDS: did something better no doubt?
    evile: nope.
SkyeDS: weather was lovely, least in my neck of the woods
evile: it was cloudy & humid most of the day here.
SkyeDS: was humid as hell but otherwise quite nice
evile: I just had a little 'sinking spell' this weekend. Just didn't
feel like going anywhere or doing anything or seeing anyone. It
    happens sometimes.
SkyeDS: got much accomplished, friends came to visit, and sineater is
going to shoot the neighbors in the face with a bazooka and I'm not
going to stop him this time, lol :)
    evile: sounds good.
SkyeDS: for such spells I prescribe some combination of the
following: hot tub, wine, bath salts & oils, good book, something
sweet, candles and/or incense, and good music.
evile: I'm off the sauce until April 1, then in April I'm back to
serious LC, so no wine/beer/etc. for me. Oh well.
SkyeDS: I don't often have the adult beverages in the house myself
    either
evile: I have plenty, I'm just not drinking them.
SkyeDS: but indulge in the rest of those things in combination, but
not as often as I would like to
evile: I had a fairly hefty Revelation Friday night in the bath,
which is probably mostly why I had a sinking spell for the rest of
    the weekend.
evile: Lately, it doesn't seem to be a good think to think about
    things too much.
evile: I didn't realize it at the time, but a rather large secret was
given to me to keep, and I'm rotten at keeping secrets, unless I just
    shut the hell up altogether.
SkyeDS: did person tell you it was a secret?
SkyeDS: I hate it when people don't tell me
SkyeDS: because yes, I'm stupid, I won't know otherwise
evile: Told me the secret first, THEN a while later told me not to
    tell anyone else.
evile: In between the time I knew the secret and was told not to
tell, I may have mentioned it to people who weren't supposed to know,
but I have no idea if I did or not....
evile: And now I'm having that thing where someone says "don't talk
about pink elephants" and that's ALL I can think of to talk about
with all of our mutual acquaintances. And since I don't want to let
anything slip, I don't get to say anything to anybody :(
    SkyeDS: /me hugs
evile: I am sure I should feel honored at the trust placed in
me...but mostly I'm just resentful and pissed off at this GIANT
barrier between normal bigmouth honest me and all of the people I
have in common with Little Miss Secret
evile: And you know secrets dont' stay secret. "Two can keep a secret
if one of them is dead"...so it's going to get out and cause
    stupidity.
SkyeDS: sounds to me like it's going to get out and likely not be you
    that lets it out
evile: It won't matter if it's me or not...I'm still going to catch
    fallout over it.
SkyeDS: you behaved responsibly under the circumstances
SkyeDS: procrastination on the part of others should not constitute
    emergency on your part
evile: At this point I think I'm just withdrawing in anticipation of
losing most/all of my friends in that circle. If I reject them first
maybe it won't hurt so much.
SkyeDS: in this instance, procrastination to tell you it was secret
evile: I think on some level, Miss Secret wanted people to know.
SkyeDS: if she didn't she wouldn't have told a soul
SkyeDS: except for the one person in the world that she knew she
didn't have to say this is a secret (very best friend, etc)
evile: And its one of those really pointless things that is really no
big deal of itself, but a big deal after the secrecy and nonsense
    blow up.
    SkyeDS: sounds like Monica-gate
    evile: bingo.
SkyeDS: I hope it wasn't one of the polys engaging in a violation of
perhaps the top poly rule, which is no cheating
evile: Anyway, however it pans out in the end, the whole secret BS is
giving me bad X flashbacks and I am not going to be close with
Miss Secret after all is said and done, regardless.
SkyeDS: cheating as defined by most polys = lying about it
evile: No cheating. but it is poly-people. I'll miss 'em. ...they're
the coolest group of people I know.
SkyeDS: don't write them off just yet
SkyeDS: lay low and see how this pans out
SkyeDS: you may be able to fly below the radar enough to miss most of
    the more damaging fall out
evile: I just don't get drama-queening past a certain point. We are
all (theoretically) adults with Real Life problems, why create all
this unnecessary stress & distress for everyone?
    SkyeDS: relationships are hard
SkyeDS: adult poly relationships are harder
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: we don't always behave like adults
SkyeDS: (I know, look who's talking)
SkyeDS: there are those in the BDSM world that would like to live in
the world of Gor all the time. And, I think, those in the world of
Wicca and/or Poly who would like to live in the world of Stranger in
    a Strange Land.
SkyeDS: but such "perfection" just ain't gonna happen in this
lifetime, I don't think, and being human isn't in achieving
perfection, it is in striving for it
evile: Well, to me, the fact that the person has a big secret that
she is jeopardizing by telling everyone, pretty much speaks VOLUMES
about the fact that she was NOT ready to do what she did.
    SkyeDS: it wasn't a secret
    SkyeDS: labels are stupid anyway
SkyeDS: words mean things but people don't respect that, most of them
    don't
SkyeDS: if it were a secret she wouldn't have told anyone
evile: I hated the new version of Stranger in a Strange Land.
Virginia Heinlen needs a shock collar & I want the button
evile: When you read posthumously-published items, or listen to music
that was recorded but not released during the persons lifetime,
usually you become pretty aware of WHY they didn't want it
    published....
evile: So did you get your land clearing done? or was it too damp?
    SkyeDS: sineater cleaned
SkyeDS: and we put up fence posts
SkyeDS: he and sonar0m found open containers of roof tar
    evile: awesome :)
SkyeDS: rusted containers of paint and spray paint
SkyeDS: boards with nails through them
evile: (not the tar, that's icky.)
SkyeDS: and I suspect we have rattlesnake nests on both sides of the
    creek
SkyeDS: the neighbor's tractor is still not working
evile: I dont' know about Rockdale, but I think Austin has a place to
    turn in toxic household items.
SkyeDS: and I told them that since I couldn't get a tractor safely on
the property across teh creek anyway, and since I need this taken
    care of several yesterdays ago
SkyeDS: next weekend, if it is not windy
SkyeDS: we are going to control burn both sides of the creek.
evile: Yeah, wind is a problem.
SkyeDS: they had a spring clean this weekend
SkyeDS: and apparently they haul stuff to the dump for free
SkyeDS: I didn't know that's what a spring clean meant
SkyeDS: so we didn't get to take advantage of that
    evile: bummer!
SkyeDS: oh and a 14 foot rotted out fiberglass boat and three
    tricycles
    evile: yuck!
SkyeDS: that's why sineater wants to shoot the neighbors with a bazooka.
SkyeDS: I still think, if Uncle Levi won't sell out when we have the
money to buy him out (me & Connie)
SkyeDS: so my suggestion was to haul it all over there, and say,
    here's your stuff
SkyeDS: but of course, that isn't really a good idea
evile: no...even if it is his, that's not a good plan.

SkyeDS: I think it was too windy this weekend to burn anyway
    evile: Yeah, I noticed that.
SkyeDS: so next weekend is the first weekend in April and maybe we
can get Randy to help us too since they said they were taking us
    shopping to Tanglewood
SkyeDS: if you want to play with fire you're more than welcome to
    join us LOL
evile: No transpo. My lease car goes away April 1.
    SkyeDS: we have transpo :P
evile: Not worth 2 hours' drive time...sorry. I'm not fit company
these days & probably won't be for a while yet.
SkyeDS: I'm not the least bit nervous about burning across the creek,
with two of three sides bounded by natural barriers such as the road
    and the creek
evile: The 3rd is Spamarama, anyway. I may go with Peglegasus & sweetie. &
    whoever.
SkyeDS: I am a little nervous bout burning on our side of the creek
evile: Yeah. I would be too.
SkyeDS: Hugh goes to that religiously
evile: It would be funny to run into him :)
evile: Did I tell you about the cool Wine Guru at Tuscany Market? He
won 2nd place in Spamarama a few years ago :)
SkyeDS: you said something about meeting him but not about him
winning at Spamarama. winning anything anywhere is cool :)
evile: Yeah. I just thought that made him extra cool. He is
definitely not your typical wine snob.
SkyeDS: I don't see why expertise in whatever should innately give
    people shitty attitudes anyway.
SkyeDS: I've known too many experts who were nice people
    evile: yup.
evile: Usually the crappy ones are the ones with buzzword familiarity
and no actual knowledge of the topic at hand.
SkyeDS: /me giggles. The Four Food Groups according to Low Carb:
Steak, Shrimp, Salad, Sex. (or, the 4S's)
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: am about ready to wreak violence on our internet service here.
evile: it's Monday, what can you expect? :P
SkyeDS: I know. I was ready to go home before I ever got here.
    evile: me too.
SkyeDS: weekend before this past one, I nearly wasted the entire
    perfectly lovely weekend stressing
SkyeDS: over things I can't do anything about on the weekend
SkyeDS: so I told myself, I am only going to stress during business
hours, when I can do something about it.
SkyeDS: and promptly forgot the one thing I really did need to do
    this weekend but oh well.
    evile: good plan. Oh well!
evile: I actually get to leave at the normal time today, so that'll
be cool. There will be daylight & maybe I'll even have some energy
    when I get home.
    SkyeDS: /me nods
SkyeDS: and DST is this weekend
SkyeDS: looking forward to having more daylight at end of day
evile: the spring one always kicks my butt.
evile: I'll have to stay up really late on Saturday, get up early
Sunday, and then I'll be tired enough to go to bed early.
SkyeDS: I haven't figured out what I'm doing about my sleep schedule
    yet
SkyeDS: know I need to do something
evile: I always seem to get tired at the same time every night, no
matter how much I slept the night before.
SkyeDS: sounds like your bio clock is consistent, maybe that's a good
    thing
evile: the time changes kick my ass, though. Both ways.
SkyeDS: whole lot of people who wish we didn't have DST
    evile: yup.
evile: I've probably written 1 letter per president since 1988 about
DST...but that's one of those stupid 'pot roast story' type things
that nobody will ever fix, even though it makes no sense to keep
    doing it.
    SkyeDS: /me nods
evile: The only cool thing about Indiana, as far as I'm concerned.
    They don't do DST.
evile: Sharjinka introduced me to a new band: they're called BOND and
    they are pretty dang cool.
SkyeDS: what do they sound like?
SkyeDS: I haven't heard live music in I don't remember how long
evile: Classical music with electronic stuff. They're apparently
classical musicians who play violin & other strings and then techno
it up. Haven't seen them live, she just mentioned them and I looked
    them up in launchcast.
SkyeDS: I will look them up there :)
evile: What I've heard, I like. Reminds me of the music that Cirque
du Soleil has for their shows.
SkyeDS: I love most variations on classical
SkyeDS: electronic variations, nature sounds added, etc
evile: As long as it doesn't get too cheezy. But I think I have a
    pretty good cheeze tolerance, too.
evile: The Bond musicians are also very cute, at least in their album
    photos.
evile: Somewhere between spice girls & dixie chicks :)
    evile: http://www.bond-music.com/
evile: Jinx is all "Oh, I wish I could dress like that!" and I'm
like "What's stopping you? Other than an inadequate supply of
    pepperspray?"
    SkyeDS: like, ditto?
SkyeDS: have mentioned more than once to her myself that she has the
figure to pull off any damn thing she wants
evile: Rio & I came up with a really fun idea, a TV show sort of
like 'queer eye' except called 'girlfriend makeover' where you take
one of your girlfriends and have a hairdresser, makeup artist, access
to whatever wardrobe you want, basically you dress your GF the way
you'd dress if you had her assets :) It would be great fun.
evile: We've thought of just doing this ourselves, us, the mall and a
    digital camera :)
evile: And the one being made over does NOT have veto power. She has
to wear whatever you put on her.
evile: The fun being in showing them how great they'd look if they
took some of the 'nevers' out of their mindset (I never wear heels, I
never wear sandals, I never wear low-cut anything, I never wear blue
    eyeshadow, what-have-you)
SkyeDS: tis a makeover show on tv now.
    evile: oh, foo. nevermind, then.
    SkyeDS: brb

    SkyeDS: bk
    evile: wb!
evile: L&B gave us a ton of onions out of their garden...I
have no clue what to do with them. maybe a crock pot of french onion
    soup?
evile: Sharjinka's going to be at skate night tomorrow :) I can go,
    too! :)
SkyeDS: definitely time to have a talk with the ISP. The sent rate
    is twice the received rate
SkyeDS: and it should be the other way around
    evile: yucko!!
SkyeDS: sineater fixed some puter problems for Hugh and charged him half
of what Hugh was paying for two other companies.
SkyeDS: and sineater was like a kid with a new toy too (he hasn't had
computer work since mid Feb now).
evile: that was a nice win-win!
    SkyeDS: I thought so :)
SkyeDS: how are T's negotiations going?
evile: he asked them if there were any other positions available, so
he interviewed for a higher level job with the same company on
    Friday. *fingers crossed*
    SkyeDS: good move!
evile: Well, they wouldn't budge on the salary for the position they
interviewed him for...so he went ahead and asked for a bigger/better
    job that (hopefully) pays accordingly.
SkyeDS: that took some assertiveness on his part.
    evile: yup.
evile: He says they didn't ask him a single technical question in the
interview, which he thought was wierd. His friend Nakia says it's
because they were scared of him :P
SkyeDS: in awe of one's abilities is good
evile: It's possible they were just humoring him at that point...
SkyeDS: I don't remember having time to humor people when I was in HR
    but who knows
evile: or avoiding a lawsuit, maybe.
SkyeDS: T strikes me as being rather big ole teddybearish
SkyeDS: however, I have never engaged him in a technical discussion
    (for good reason)
evile: you and I know him, though.
evile: I'm sure he can be intimidating if you don't know him.

evile: Kids at DePauw used to tell me how bad stepdad/G scared them and I
    could never see it.
SkyeDS: I haven't ever tried imagining it, but it probably wouldn't
be hard for me to see that, since I have little problem imagining
angry scorpios in general, being surrounded by so many of them
    evile: heh.
evile: I usually end up being the 'immovable object' in that type of
exchange...so I guess I'm just used to it.
SkyeDS: I am seldom the immovable object to the degree that I think
    people perceive me as being.
SkyeDS: in astrological terms that would be because my rising is
Taurus (immovable) but my sun and moon are gemini (doormat)
SkyeDS: so I give one impression but that's usually superficial
    evile: I wouldn't say doormat...just picking what's worth fighting
    over and what isnt
SkyeDS: so I have a backbone of wet linguine consistency sometimes.
evile: I am trying to get better about picking my battles. I dont'
have to win everything all the time and people don't have to agree
with me 100% all the time either.
SkyeDS: my friends that came to visit yesterday went to the park
    Saturday
SkyeDS: around 5:30 and said no one was there
    SkyeDS: that's very odd
evile: If it doesn't hurt me for you to believe the sky is green, I
am not going to waste time trying to convince you it's blue.
SkyeDS: when I'm there, people are usually there till dark
evile: Well, I'm sure some people have lives & obligations outside of
SCA or whatevet. It happens :)
    SkyeDS: /me shrugs
SkyeDS: was just thinking of "picking battles" and imminent being
blamed for something not my (your) fault
SkyeDS: if Barad Duin atrophies the way other kingdoms are and have
    done periodically and regularly
    evile: aggravating, that.
SkyeDS: I don't care to have it blamed on me
    evile: doubt it.
SkyeDS: and they like to blame everything on me, the horses or the
bird, or so it seems, sometimes
SkyeDS: when I don't come to Eeyore's I suspect I'll hear about it
evile: Kim is back picking fights & stirring drama, so if anything
breaks up BD, it will be that. Or at least that will likely be the
    perception.
    SkyeDS: is she?
    SkyeDS: I shouldn't be surprised
SkyeDS: we were watching Gladiator and I was laughing at Joaquin
Phoenix's "It vexes me. I am very vexed"
SkyeDS: and M said the character reminds him of Kim.
evile: hehe. That was a pretty good movie, whatsisname
    notwithstanding.
    evile: Russel Crowe. bleh.
SkyeDS: at any rate, I th ink most rational people given two choices
SkyeDS: a) event close to home, event where you (and menagerie) have
    been invited
    SkyeDS: vs.
SkyeDS: b) event three times as far away, event where you will have
to attend 3 meetings to wrangle permission, event where your own
group is not as actively supportive of you as they could be
SkyeDS: I mean, ya know? hello?
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: besides, since I don't get to keep the money to be made at
Eeyore's, and BD has a history of n ot appreciating any of my efforts
anyway, why bother to spend the extra money for gas.
SkyeDS: and I mean, LOTS of extra money.
    evile: yeah, it's bad now.
SkyeDS: the black truck trundles around Rockdale and to Taylor and
back now but sineater won't let me drive it to Austin anymore
SkyeDS: not that we would go to Eeyore's in it anyway (pulling).
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I must have been out of my everloving mind to even think
about doing the Ingleside thing at Eeyore's anyway
evile: probably too big a crowd, really.
SkyeDS: the only thing said by those ingrates about my bringing in
more than 30% of our entire profits singlehandedly was criticism
about the manner in which I delivered my readings.
    evile: nice.
SkyeDS: criticism from someone whom I would bet large sums has never
given or received a reading, eg no experience, criticizing someone
who's been in the business for more than a decade now.
evile: that's definitely a 'consider the source' moment.
SkyeDS: I guess I was just enthused about the money we made for
ourselves and SCA at Ingleside, and all the cool ideas you and I
    collectively came up with
SkyeDS: Eeyore's would be doable, easily, no matter the size of the
crowd, with the round pen, IF the HFS didn't make me pursue it all by
myself and IF the HFS were a little more gracious in their treatment
of my attempts at contributions and IF in this instance they h elped
bear some of the transportation burden (a meal if nothing else would
    be nice)
SkyeDS: and Barad Duin would be one very rich kingdom if they let me
make money with them, between my readings and my other resources
    SkyeDS: oh fucking well.
SkyeDS: err make money for them I meant
SkyeDS: and on hfscr, there's this poll about should we become
    incorporated nonprofit
    SkyeDS: hello
SkyeDS: I feel like nobody ever listens to me
SkyeDS: I have told them I can't count how many times, you don't HAVE
    to incorporate
SkyeDS: you don't HAVE to deal with the IRS, at ALL
SkyeDS: you can be a Texas Unincorporated Nonprofit ASsociation.
evile: Most people (PtA) prefer to keep asking a question until they
get the answe r they want.
SkyeDS: it has two OPTIONAL filings with the TX SOS, neither of which
    would be necessary for HFS
SkyeDS: would give us all the benefits of Organization withOUT the
burden of someone having to deal with the IRS over 501c3 status.
evile: Jinx is finally on the same page with me re: loss of CRW
    funds from PtA's bank account(s)
evile: Only took a year and a half or so.. jee.
    SkyeDS: you're kidding.
SkyeDS: oh my fucking god, now I am firmly convinced, once more, that
everyone around me is insane and I am the only sane one.
SkyeDS: usually i just figure I must be insane, majority thing and all
evile: No. Finally someone besides *me* thinks it was a fishy story
and needs some looking into, not to mention PtA needs to be held
    accountable in some fashion
evile: Why are you thinking peope are insane? Me & Sharjinka included?

    Mar. 29, 2004

SkyeDS: caught you before you left HUGS
evile: Sorry about your IP problems today :(
SkyeDS: if sokay wit u, would like to talk more about the HFS
    incorporating tomorrow
SkyeDS: this subject is of interest to me
evile: No prob. I have no vested interest either way, it's just an
    interesting situation.
SkyeDS: I have been trying to help these people regarding this
subject for some time now, and it frustrates me
SkyeDS: I haven't got anything vested in it either other than the
    misguided desire to help
evile: *shrug* teaching pigs to sing, etc etc.
SkyeDS: and my desire to help has pretty much rechanneled itself into
    the SCA
SkyeDS: silk purse, sow's ear, yada x 3.
evile: good. Take your talents where they'll be appreciated :)
evile: Ill be interested to hear what Jinx thinks of it :)
evile: She gets so excited about everything. I feel guilty, but I
kind of like to poke ant piles to watch them swarm sometimes....
SkyeDS: they've been fighting back and forth over this since they
    broke with Amtgard
    SkyeDS: if not before
    evile: wow.
SkyeDS: (I don't remember whether Amtgard is officially organized or
    not)
SkyeDS: see, they don't want to be a 501c3
SkyeDS: becdause it means a level of organization and officers and
interaction with the TX SOS and the IRS that they don't want to deal
    with
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I'm sure you investigated how much goes into incorporating in
    Texas
SkyeDS: Articles, Bylaws, fees, officers, etc
evile: yeah. Not worth it as a sole proprietorship. Maybe worth it
    with a group.
SkyeDS: so, they want everything the SCA can do
SkyeDS: but not to pay the price the SCA pays for it as a Legal
    Organization
SkyeDS: and within limits there is a way to achieve that, and not
deal with the IRS or the TX SOS
SkyeDS: and I've told them countless times how to do it
SkyeDS: until I was blue in t he face, got ignored, and so now the
disappearing CRW funds bring it back up again.
evile: I'll be very interested to see what Sharjinka thinks of all
    that.
SkyeDS: I'll try to remember to ask her about it
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: look, is you is or is you ain't my baby
SkyeDS: even if they avoid TX SOS and IRS filings
SkyeDS: the whole point of organizing is money, honey

SkyeDS: well, fine, then you won't have the Roman monetary system
    either
evile: I need to make my rounds. We'll talk more tomorrow :)
SkyeDS: ciao bella, a la domani :)
