Saturay: up, talked to my mom on the phone, drank coffee, wen tto the
ICU waiting room & hung out with Pat, Sonya, [Aunt L] & [Uncle B]. Chuy's on
183 for dinner, then I went to Jinxs party & Sweetie went to work on
a VW with friends. Mom had called Cora & then [Aunt L], and Pat & Sonya
volunteered to take one of the ferrets. Mom told [Aunt L] & [Aunt L] told me
that [X's youngest son] was with Xs uncle david, the other two kids were with
C, and [J x's middle son] was upset about finding homes for his animals &
J [x's daughter] was in total denial & also had possibly been involved in the
drug business. :(
So, Jinx's party was nice. Swam. Drank Champagne & chambord.
Watched people playing DDR ((boring) listened to Jinx bitching
about some old romance. bla bla. Visited with [Sineater] just a bit. [Skye_ds]
cornered me outside and we sat by the pool and 'talked' while the
party went on inside. But...it was not unpleasant. I needed a non-
drama evening
Sunday, woke up, talked to my mom on the phone, drank coffee. Called
C, she was in the middle of cooking for the kids (lunch, I guess?)
I sai I had a home for 1 ferret if she needed it but that's all I
could do. [Sineater] an [Skye_ds] and [Sonar0m] showed up around 1:15 and we went
to Las Manitas & then went to Pecan ST. festival. Hot & sunny. Some
nice stuff. Not a real good 'visit', everyone walked behind me.
(granted, it was crowded, too crowded in spots to do more than walk
single file) I didn't feel very involved. We got back to the house
aroun 5:30, I encouraged them to go and make nice if they were going
to go to [Sonar0m]' relative's 2nd bday (cousin? dunno) I think I said
something to the effect that a child's birthday was not an
appropriate setting for any kind of 'showdown' with [Sonar0m]' mom. And
then I put my foot in it by saying something about how [Skye_ds] had
made big trouble with [sineater's extended fam] at the beginning of her
relationship with [Sineater] and then had to backtrack & make nice for
years before they stopped believing that she was the wicked witch of
the west, and did she really want to go through something like that
again? [Skye_ds] looked at [Sineater] and said "Is she talking about all the
times your family attacked me and I left?"--so obviously she doesn't
remember "Being with [Sineater] has alientated me from my family so now I
am going to alientate him from his" or the phone call up to
Greencastle where she screeched and cried and told [stepdad G/Sineater's dad] and Mom
about 'the abortion' and whatnot.
What ever. Then we made nice some more, and they finally left a bit
after 6. Probably too late to make the kids bday, so they were just
going back to Rockdale. Probably another lovely situation where she's
going to work herself into a foaming fit by the time she gets home &
let me know what a terrible person she thinks I am. Oh well.

Me to J-Law:
Sounds good. My weekend has been OK.
Spent most of Saturday in the ICU waiting room, going
in for short visits with Elaine. Very hard to deal
with her being so out-of-it, because she is usually so
sharp & witty & together. But I think it was good for
her to know we were there, and good for Pat, too.
Saturday night was Sharjinka's (a HFS person)
housewarming party. I swam in her pool, drank
champagne & chambord, talked with some people, had a
nice time. Briefly got cornered for old boring UB
stories, and went home around midnight. Both [Sonar0m]
and [Sineater] kept hinting that they were ready to go but
she was still regaling me. [Sineater] said the bird was
tired, said the horses were hungry, and she just blew
him off. Anyway...it was a pleasant evening, ANYWAY.
Today was OK. UB, [Sineater], and [Sonar0m] showed up around
1:15, we went downtown & had brunch at Las Manitas &
then up & down 6th st. for Pecan St. Festival. Lots of
pretty stuff. Lots of UB saying "You could make that"
right in front of the vendors...gauche.
Anyway, I was under the impression that they needed to
go to a family function of [Sonar0m]'--his 2 yr old
cousin's bday at Chuck e Cheese. So we got back to my
place and I invited them in for a 'pitstop' before
they needed to go to the party. They ended up sitting
around on my dirty floor for like 45 minutes, mostly
bitching about [Sonar0m]' mother and how 'unreasonable'
she is, bla bla. When I saw [Skye_ds] on Saturday, she
had mentioned this bday party and tried to recruit me
for some sort of 'battle' with [Sonar0m]' family. So,
today, I respectfully suggested that a child's
birthday party was not an appropriate setting for any
kind of 'custers last stand' with [Sonar0m]' family. [Sineater]
very cautiously, very submissively, suggested that I
might be right.
And then I put my foot in it by mentioning the early
conflicts she'd had with [Sineater]'s family that were
similar to this situation, and reminded her of the
literal YEARS it has taken for her to undo her 'wicked
witch of the west' image with them. She looked at [Sineater]
sharply and said "Is she talking about all the times
your family attacked me and I walked out?"--obviously
she has no recollection of telling me & X at the
bachelorette party "HE alienated me from my family, so
I am going to alienate him from his" or the time she
called Mom & [stepdad G/Sineater's dad] in Greencastle screaming and crying
about "he made me have an abortion" and trying to get
them to turn against [Sineater].
But at least history may not repeat with [Sonar0m]'
family. For now. They talked & fussed amongst
themselves about various offenses [Sonar0m]'
mother/family had committed against UB, and then I
guess they decided not to go to the party but to go
home and feed animals instead.
So...she will probably work herself into a hissyfit on
the long drive home and then I'll be in trouble yet
again. FUCK. *sigh*

J-Law to me:
Yeah, we had a wonderful evening. The housewarming sounds fun, apart
from UB's crap.
I am basically done with work. Just waiting for the copy people to
come pick up the documents.
Can't wait to get home - chill out, have a glass of wine and dinner.
And call John.
UB is a freak. If/when she hissies, just remember that it's not your
fault - she's punishing you because she doesn't have any self control
or self awareness.
In my continuing quest to diagnose her, I have concluded that she
punishes other people because she can't judge her own behavior and
correct it.
Howard is taking me & Karen (the associate who's been busting her ass
with me on this - she's very cool) out to lunch next week. Much as I
appreciate the gesture, and look forward to good food, I don't really
want to break bread with the man.
But whatever.
He's got fences to mend, and I get that.

me, today:
It's Monday. I'm exhausted. I think I got a sunburn on
top of my head yesterday. And of *course* we finally
got in the coldfront that was due yesterday this a.m.
Would have been nice yesterday!
Still holding my breath to see if [Skye_ds] decided to
take offense at anything that happened yesterday. So
amusing: she was telling me about some old ex friend
who, as she put it "got mad at me at Thanksgiving for
something I'd done at Easter"...gee, that couldnt'
sound like anyone WE know? Could it?
My right knee hurts from walking yesterday. Dang, I'm
getting old!
I guess since we didn't to to the hospital at all
yesterday, we'll need to go today. I can give Elaine
the turtle I found for her yesterday. [Aunt L] called
last night & said Elaine was coherent now & that they
have plans for walking every morning & stuff, that
Elaine is now committed to staying around, if not for
herself, then for the people who love her. So, that's
progress.
Hope your Monday is good so far :)
XO!

J-Law:
I am exhausted, too. Could barely make it out of bed this morning.
Working yesterday really screwed up the whole weekend. But I did
have a nice evening - comfort food for dinner (Stouffer's chicken pot
pie - fabulous) and a couple glasses of Cabernet. John called around
8:30 and we talked for an hour or so. We're shooting for me to visit
over Thanksgiving. I am gonna price tix, and hopefully buy them by
10/15.
Tomorrow is my 1 year anniversary here. Everyone gets flowers on
their anniversary, which is nice.
Remember when I was at BBM and we thought it would be funny to send
black balloons for my anniversary? :)
[Skye_ds] is a freak.
I am glad Elaine is going to stick around. Could be this was a cry
for help more than anything else.
Monday is good and quiet so far. Decided to wear my pointy bitch
boots, though, just in case things get ugly. :)
XOXOXOXO!!!!
