evile: hey :) How was your weekend?
SkyeDS: very nice, how was yours?
SkyeDS: sorry, not always here, and don't always think to set brb
when I don't expect to be away long
evile: excellent. I got sunburned on saturday, but other than that.
SkyeDS: 4 yo registered TWH, $600, retired 20 yo TWH, Free.
evile: what?
SkyeDS: one of the SCA Eqs has a friend with two horses in Georgetown
that if she doesn't sell she will send to slaughter
SkyeDS: one is free, one is $600
SkyeDS: and it's a $2500 - $3500 horse
evile: that's too bad. I hope someone adopts them.
SkyeDS: TWHs = a lot like Jesse.
SkyeDS: Morgans = part of the foundation for TWHS
evile: TWH? is that a breed, gender, trait, or color?
SkyeDS: Tennessee Walking Horse - gaited breed
evile: aha. OK. I've seen pictures of those.
SkyeDS: my new saddle makes you ride right, no cheating
evile: I guess that's good.
SkyeDS: lol kinda
evile: eeyore's was great this year :)
SkyeDS: was talking to Cat about it yesterday
evile: which Cat?
SkyeDS: if we go, we'll be happy to go as part of Drandmir, but it
will need to be made plain that we are not there to help Barad Duin
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: year before last my readings made 35% of BD's money for them
SkyeDS: and they were less than gracious about it
evile: suck.
SkyeDS: I didn't expect like pats on the back or anything but to have
Mimi turn around and critique my readings
SkyeDS: look, lady, I've been reading professionally for a decade
now, and you've never had one done for you, much less done one
yourself, so...
SkyeDS: I am more than happy to be critiqued by those who do what I
do BETTER than I do it.
SkyeDS: Cat = Dani, the new ruling lady of Drandmir.
SkyeDS: Cat = her persona name
SkyeDS: we are in the process of getting approval to do a petting zoo
next year (it takes a whole year to get approved for the next year),
and we will be happy to do so as part of Drandmir, as long as it's
clear that we're Drandmir and not BD.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: my parents were slated to leave at 1 pm, so Eeyore's was
out. Eeyore's requires being there early enough to get decent
parking.
evile: Yup. The shuttle service was helpful....but not with horses,
I'm sure :P
SkyeDS: would have just been us and the bird.
SkyeDS: no horses until approval next year.
evile: *nod*
evile: There was an ..african grey(?) at the park, and lots of dogs,
and one kitten. One security person was mounted
SkyeDS: I suppose I could put in for mounted patrol next year (but I
think a petting zoo would be more enjoyable for all involved)
evile: *nod* I think so too.
SkyeDS: was this person wearing one of their black staff shirts with
white lettering or something else?
evile: yup, black shirt & white letters. I think they were
called 'peace keepers' or something
evile: We went to a wedding yesterday in Mayfield park. it was
*gorgeous* out there. I need to go out there more often.
SkyeDS: that's what they've always been called before
SkyeDS: I LOVE mayfield, used to do ritual out there lot
evile: lots of stuff was blooming, it was very green, the peacocks
were in great voice & feather. It was fun.
SkyeDS: never been on the trails but they have them, and probably a
great place to walk.
evile: We managed to get to the park an hour early for the wedding,
instead of half an hour (reading is fundamental), so we walked the
trails a bit. It was nice.
SkyeDS: How To Take A Photograph of Your Foal
1. Remove film from box and load camera.
2. Remove film box from foal's mouth and throw in corner.
3. Remove foal from corner and brush dirt from muzzle.
4. Choose a suitable background for photo.
5. Mount camera on tripod and focus.
6. Coax foal into pre-focused spot and return to camera.
7. Find foal again.
8. Forget about pre-focused spot and return to camera.
9. Chase around after foal, trying to look nonchalant.
10. Focus with one hand and fend off foal with the other hand.
11. Get tissue and clean nose print from camera lens.
12. Find foal again.
13. Unfold tripod from scrambled mess in dirt.
14. Find foal again.
15. Put cat back in tackroom and put peroxide on scratch on foal's
nose.
16. Find foal again.
17. Try to get foal's attention by squeaking a toy over your head.
18. Replace your glasses and check camera for damages.
19. Fix a drink.
20. Sit back, relax, drink and resolve to teach foal "whoa"
and "stand" first thing in the morning.
SkyeDS: ROFL
evile: heh.
evile: I'm sure they get better about pictures. Just like little kids.
evile: Looks like I'm doing a full moon get together on the 23rd.
I'll put up more details when I have 'em.
SkyeDS: my n ext two weekends have opened themselves up of their own
accord (no KOH demo, no Event)
SkyeDS: I would still like to do a KOH demo on my own but I'd have to
find someone I trusted with the children while we were watching the
movie (and then pay for them to see the movie)
evile: I really want to go to Scarborough Faire. Looks like the
weekends of the 7th or the 28th would be the only possibilities.
SkyeDS: 28th = weekend after your bday
evile: yup.
evile: I took the 25-27th off from work, thinking I was going to
Vegas. Couldn't get anyone to go with me so I didn't make my
reservations after all. Now I have a 6 day weekend & no plans.
SkyeDS: excellent time to go to Scarby?
evile: waste of a long weekend, IMHO. I'd rather take a longer road
trip to someplace really cool, or hopefully find a cheap last minute
air/hotel deal someplace.
evile: In a perfect universe, I'd be able to find someone to go to
Scarborough Faire with me on the 7th & they'd drive, since Sweetie's not
going to be here to be my personal AAA service.
SkyeDS: you could ask sineater.
evile: I dont' want to get him in trouble.
SkyeDS: in trouble how.
evile: I won't trouble him, then. I'm sure he's got other obligations
& whatnot.
SkyeDS: the 7th is Saturday isn't it?
evile: yes, it is.
SkyeDS: so he doesn't have to take off work, so what trouble
SkyeDS: he could go, a nd the baby and I can have a ranch workday by
ourselves
SkyeDS: his driving isn't that bad...really... (as long as he isn't
driving a big van that belongs to UT)
evile: and then after the fact, he'll tell you something nasty that
he said I said, and we'll have more hoo ha. No thanks.
SkyeDS: <shrugs> ok
SkyeDS: I cannot control his behavior
evile: Well, I'll ask him...but I really dont' want another giant
blowout on my hands.
SkyeDS: was just a thought
evile: for the record, I am telling you now:
You and/or sonar0m are more than welcome to attend scarby with me.
I am not going to talk shit about you or sonar0m or family with sineater
if we do spend the day together.
evile: So if you hear or feel that you are/were not welcome, or
are/were spoken badly of, it was not from ME that that information
came.
SkyeDS: lol it was my suggestion that you take sineater, without us, so
it isn't like I would think anything else.
SkyeDS: and as my parents keep reminding me, I need to stay home at
least one weekend a month and work on my place
evile: I'm just getting things clear now, so that I am not the one
being bitten on the ass later on.
evile: If you and sineater want to fuss and fight and be ugly to one
another, that's fine with me, but I do NOT want to be in the middle
of it.
SkyeDS: I don't blame you.
evile: If I'm going to be on your shit list, I'd rather be on it
because of something I actually said or did, rather than words put in
my mouth
SkyeDS: by this time, I know to go to the source.
SkyeDS: alleged source rather.
evile: *nod* exactly.
evile: I took more wedding 'mental notes' yesterday. I hope I'll be
able to do a good job as MOH.
evile: well, poo, the email to dell bounced. Oh well.
SkyeDS: I don't think he has dellmail yet
SkyeDS: nor a #, he calls me twice a day and that's the only contact
I have with him
evile: I guess that would be why it bounced :P
SkyeDS: I wonder if anyone's considered Hill Country SNA since Lake
Somerville is out.
SkyeDS: (for CRW)
evile: I still dont' quite get why Bastrop is so bad.
SkyeDS: it isn't. it's the date.
SkyeDS: and we can't get it for any other date (because we waited too
late to make res)
evile: well, tough shit, kids, we are not going to ever find a date
that 100% of the people can agree on.
SkyeDS: July 4 = bad date for anything that isn't July 4 related.
evile: *shrug* Personally, I despise the noise and crowds of typical
July 4 celebrations, I'd rather have a 3 day weekend in the woods.
SkyeDS: me too, but I don't have family obligations
evile: I never thought of July 4 as much of a big 'family' holiday.
thanksgiving, Xmas, easter, sure...but July 4 is about drinking beer
and blowing shit up..and waving flags I guess. That's not too family
to me.
SkyeDS: "we want to take our kids to see fireworks, and there are
minors who can't go if their parents require them to stay home, blah
blah blah blah...."
evile: whatever. Can't please all the people all the time. Executive
decisions need to be made, far enough in advance to where people who
do have CRW as a priority can make plans accordingly.
SkyeDS: far enough in advance = the problem as far as I can see
evile: it's probably too late for this year, but in future, I think
CRW should be 'set in stone' as the (first, third, whatever) weekend
of (pick a month) forever and ever amen.
SkyeDS: a suggestion I already made to them (when I was discussing
SCA & Amtgard Wars, which are like that, set in stone, as to date AND
site)
evile: *nod* Makes sense to me.
SkyeDS: but see, you can't point out that SCA and Amtgard have
invented these wheels already
SkyeDS: "we aren't them!"
SkyeDS: did anyone ask me or mine if the date for GW was convenient,
no. Did anyone ask the Shire, no. Did anyone ask the Kingdom of
Ansteorra, no.
evile: with enough advance notice, any date can be made 'convenient'.
SkyeDS: GW is spring break in March, every year, for the last 14 (15
is next year)
SkyeDS: we didn't get to go last year, and I'm already saving for us
to go next year
evile: cool.
SkyeDS: and those poor people in NC or VA or wherever, who still
don't have a date to be driving two-three days here and another back
evile: thats why I was thinking a 3 day weekend would be ideal for
CRW....
SkyeDS: I'm wondering why not memorial day weekend
SkyeDS: it's less "family" oriented
SkyeDS: and much cooler
evile: well, this year it would be impossible to get a site, and get
it organized in that short a period of time, but in future, I think
that would be a fine weekend to do it.
SkyeDS: in future we apparently need to start making reservations
before December
evile: probably.
SkyeDS: I know Lake Somerville's busiest season is March 21 - July 4.
SkyeDS: I can't believe they didn't ask LS for a date AFTER the 4th.
evile: people just aren't thinkin, apparently.
SkyeDS: LS = their best SP answer to Kitchen and Feasthall (largest
of any SP in TX, AND tried and true tested by BD and Drandmir)
evile: *nod*
evile: Bastrop's facilities are just fine; if people can't make it
that weekend, they should just shut up and/or start working on
organizing next year's.
SkyeDS: that's what some of us at least were already doing (like me
and mine)
evile: *nod* exactly.
evile: Well, I had phone duty so I get to leave at 3 today.
SkyeDS: wind to your wings :)
SkyeDS: sineater will be home before I am, between 6:30 and 7 pm I think
evile: I won't.

SkyeDS: you have your cell?
evile: yup, but I'll be at the movies.
evile: if we get in touch, we get in touch, if we don't we don't.
