evile: Sounds like you had a nice birthday weekend. Weather
cooperated, too :)
SkyeDS: yes ma'am. awesome picture, would love to have that as a
poster or tshirt
evile: I thought it was very pretty & rather 'you' (horse & birds)
SkyeDS: anticipating actually camping and more fully experiencing
that lake when get the chance
evile: cool :)
SkyeDS: although I might wait till fall, camping in the summer in TX
sucks
evile: yeah. Unless you stay in the water the whole time :)
evile: we went tubin' in San Marcos yesterday. It was great fun, I
think that'll become a regular thing this summer.
SkyeDS: I love tubin. Haven't been in forever. I should ask the
boys if they want to go at some point, and see what babysitting
arrangements I can come up with for the children.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: never having been a squire, but being somewhat knowledgeable,
I think this:
SkyeDS: one) take a belt from someone you respect so that you can
respect your belt and take care of bidness
SkyeDS: he lost his belt because he didn't respect his knight and
therefore didn't respect the belt and work for it like he should have
evile: Sunshine?
SkyeDS: Sharjinka probably isn't a good teacher, she produced "Sir"
Jose for fucks sake
SkyeDS: crap
SkyeDS: wrong window *sigh*
SkyeDS: <hands you an eraser>
evile: heh. that's OK.
SkyeDS: there's been some hullabaloo over the loss of the belt, a nd
I was trying to opine safely
evile: *nod*
evile: I haven't seen or heard from him in ages.
SkyeDS: the subject came up at my birthday party and I could
see "sides" forming up across the table
SkyeDS: I averted it though
evile: oh, yuck. I'm glad it didn't turn ugly!
SkyeDS: the point I've been trying to make is that it takes two to
tango, and neither Jinx nor sunny were completely blameless,
neither were either of them singularly to blame
SkyeDS: and of course both sides will hate me equally for that opinion
evile: I don't really know enough about the situation to say anything.
SkyeDS: is that not true of most similar situations generally
speaking and perhaps painting with an overly broad brush, though
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: Sunshine's take is that Sharjinka sucks
SkyeDS: Sharjinka's take is that Sunshine sucks
SkyeDS: to put it in a vastly oversimplified nutshell
evile: *shrug* Sunshine stole things from her and many others. I
dont' know if that's Sharjinka's fault or responsibility. Sharjinka
then did not confront or correct the behavior, she avoided him and
the situation and allowed it to continue longer than it should have.
SkyeDS: so my take is, ok, so it's possible that you both suck at
least in relation to each other, and Sharjinka had no business taking
Sunshine as squire if he sucks (student) and Sunshine had no business
accepting Sharjinka as his knight (teacher) if she sucksSkyeDS: so there.
SkyeDS: they may or may not have known about the suckage when they
started out but both of them had a responsibility to end it and not
drag it out when they discovered the "Truth" about each other.
evile: yup
SkyeDS: Sunshine steals things.
SkyeDS: ok, so how long did it take you to get rid of him when you
found this out
SkyeDS: Sharjinka sucks as a teacher
SkyeDS: ok, so how long did it take you to give the belt back and
walk away
evile: *shrug* I found this out and took steps to protect myself and
my home...but I was fairly Sharjinka like in that I did not confront
him with my suspicions.
SkyeDS: there are perks to living as far away as we do.
evile: yup
SkyeDS: you weren't his teacher
SkyeDS: the teacher/student relationship is a somewhat sacred one
with rules
SkyeDS: especially knight/square
SkyeDS: err squire
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I have to say I'm like Hugh that way though
SkyeDS: I'd rather passively aggressively provoke a client to fire me
than to have to fire a client, which is very unpleasant and combative
SkyeDS: and I know that's hypocrisy in light of my confrontation vs
behind the back stance
SkyeDS: but the thing is, clients are not usually polite adversaries
that can be confronted, they tend to get combative
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I'm glad that Marshall's parents seem to have decided to fire
me, without saying a word to me about it
SkyeDS: we've all gone our separate ways peacefully and quietly
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and I didn't have to make the torturous decision about when
to put my foot down and say I'm done with you, don't go away mad just
go away
evile: Yup.
SkyeDS: there are two reasons to inflict corporal punishment on a
horse
SkyeDS: biting and kicking
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: because those are the only two things a horse does as
deliberate declarations of war with intent to maim or kill
SkyeDS: Mirage has not, in 14 years, EVER bitten or kicked, EVER
SkyeDS: until that boy, who fucking well knew better
SkyeDS: put a rope around her neck, twisted it like a noose, and
tried to lead her that way
evile: yuck.
SkyeDS: 1) I wasn't standing close enough to deliver punishment in
time and 2) I wouldn't have anyway because he deserved it
evile: yeah
SkyeDS: but dammit, she may have gone her entire existence never
kicking or biting were it not for that boy
evile: yup
evile: OK. Just finished my quota for the day and I still have lots
and lots of time before I can clock out. feh.
evile: bunches of stuffs I could be getting done at home & NEED to
get done before I leave for IN on Saturday a.m.
SkyeDS: :|
evile: Yeah.
evile: Sholtz Garden is within walking distance...wonder if anyone
would notice if I disappeared and came back to sign out at 4 :P
SkyeDS: I am perfecting the fine art of going over someone's head
without it turning combative or anything less than perfectly polite.
SkyeDS: it is a pleasure when it works, but tedious, and it annoys me
to have to do it at all.
evile: sounds like.
SkyeDS: you need a lifesize cardboard cutout like at the movies of
yourself
SkyeDS: ;)
evile: hehe.
SkyeDS: I called to ask for a public record to be faxed to me and
this admin gives me this line of bullshit
SkyeDS: so I call back, ask to go up the ladder to whomever can give
me something that isn't a line of bullshit
SkyeDS: get the boss's boss, to whom I am perfectly polite, he
responds perfectly politely, and we shall see how long it takes for
me to get my simple request fulfilled
evile: good luck :)
evile: the wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly.
SkyeDS: and there is my fax. it's all good.
evile: excellent :)
SkyeDS: mom subscribes to the theory that no matter how politely you
go over someone's head, going over the head is not polite
SkyeDS: I don't agree.
SkyeDS: I'm an admin, I know what an admin can and can't do to be
helpful. And I will escalate if I'm handed bullshit by one of my
socalled peers.
SkyeDS: people try to escalate on me all the damn time and Hugh just
laughs at them.
evile: there's polite, then there's getting your job done. If you can
do both, fine. If not, get the job done and apoligize afterwards for
any ruffled feathers you created along the way, IMHO
SkyeDS: things are much better in general when people just do right
to begin with.
evile: yup
evile: I'm surrounded by people who do halfass jobs and dont' give a
shit that it creates more work for others. It's pretty annoying.
SkyeDS: I bet.
evile: It's not my favorite thing to do, and I'd rather do other
thngs, but when I'm here I do what they pay me to do, to the best of
my ability.
evile: (no more & no less.exactly what I'm paid to do. So...yeah,not
the perfect work ethic, but better than 90% of the people here.)
SkyeDS: I get paid half what I'm worht and work half as hard as I
ought to
SkyeDS: but I keep Hugh happy
evile: that's important.
evile: Yay! Kulilinei has an interview. *crosses fingers & sends good
juju*
SkyeDS: nodnod me too
SkyeDS: slow for the next little bit
evile: OK
