evile: happy hump day :)
SkyeDS: indeed. how are ya?
evile: Not too bad. Allergies. But other than that, cool.
SkyeDS: I notice when I eat right my allergies and sinuses aren't so
bad; I find that interesting.
SkyeDS: not AS bad, I guess I should so.
SkyeDS: say.
evile: If I take my calcium/magnesium/zinc supplements regularly,
mine get better. I've been forgetting lately, and then we got all
that mold. A good reminder to dose up before i go to bed.
SkyeDS: nods. I was re-reading last night and I seriously need to
start taking a whole vitamin that's going to fix my magnesium/zinc
deficiencies
SkyeDS: for both my endometriosis and my migraine situations
evile: Calcium is supposed to help yu sleep, so I take a separate
cal/mag/zinc before bedtime.
SkyeDS: have you also tried melatonin or tryptophan for that?
evile: And I have discovered that I can't take EPO or Flax before
bedtime, because they gave me nightmares. So I take them with
breakfast and lunch, multivitamin with lunch, and I've been trying
cinnamon (no results) and relora (maybe?)
evile: Melatonin makes me too groggy the next day, worse than OTC
sleeping pills
SkyeDS: I bought some sprouted whole grain bread without sugar but
with cinnamon and raisins in it
SkyeDS: sure does help with sugar cravings
SkyeDS: cinnamon is supposed to heal in a lot of ways, I've never
heard it related to sleep but I don't know.
evile: dunno abou tsleep, ti's supposed to help regulate blood sugar.
I really didn't notice any diff. while I was taking it.
SkyeDS: Hobby Lobby gave sineater three pieces of cardboard that go
behind those posters ya know? perfect size and thickness.
SkyeDS: sorry for the non sequitur, but it was a good thing
evile: OK.
SkyeDS: for painting his dragons on
SkyeDS: for faire
evile: aha. OK.
evile: I'm proud of me--last night I made it all the way up the steps
at Mt. Bonnell and didn't have to stop and rest :)
evile: The sunset was *glorious* BTW.
SkyeDS: excellent! as usual, my progress is very much slower than
yours, I'm only getting up and down the stairs at work without my
heart rate and breathing being elevated and being tired out.
evile: all progress is good progress ;)
evile: I might have stopped and wussed out, but I was with [cousin B] & I
didn't want him to mock me :P
SkyeDS: children can be painfully honest when you least want it
sometimes
evile: heehee. true enough!
SkyeDS: "Aunt Skye, Aunt Skye, we saw you and sineater and Arthur in a
commercial for the fair!.........And you weren't wearing a bra."
SkyeDS: that pretty effectively put an end to said bad habit.
evile: *LOL*
SkyeDS: I only did it the once, we were doing renovations and
repairs, and on our way to Home Depot, when we came across the YMCA
fair at Capitol Plaza.
SkyeDS: I hadn't expected to be doing anything that day but hard
labor.
evile: yeah...
SkyeDS: I doubt they would have recognized me by myself with my hair
up in a baseball cap pulled low over my face, and black sweats,
except, of course, I was right there with sineater and Arthur.
evile: *nod*
evile: [cousin B]'s all psyched about Tablerock on Saturday. He had such a
fun time at Scarby the one time he went with me.
SkyeDS: won't be anything like Scarby in size but you've told him that
evile: yup
evile: It will be a fun way to spend the afternoon. If I get back to
Austin in time, I'll go to the GWNN party. This weekend is the Bash,
so it'll probably be too crowded, so I don't really care if I go or
not.
evile: I would have gotten bash tickets, but Friday night is out
because I have to get up and go to yoga, and then Saturday daytime is
faire, & Sunday is [uncle B]'s birthday, so I wouldn't have been able to
go to the picnic...so I really wouldn't have been able to get to
anything except the play party
evile: out of everything, the picnic sounded most interesting, too. :(
evile: The gypsy faire on the 25th in San Antonio sounds interesting.
A good excuse to go see Rio & shop at Mermaid Moon, if nothing else.
SkyeDS: there seems to be a faction within the SCA that groups
Gypsies as "Romantic/Mythic/Legendary" figures and thinks that they
are hard to play and play period.
SkyeDS: I don't understand why that would be.
SkyeDS: it isn't like they aren't documented historically.
evile: *shrug* Probably lack of reputable documentation, lots of
hearsay and superstitious and prejudice mixed in with the reality
SkyeDS: I don't disagree that people don't do their research thereby
not playing such a persona properly
SkyeDS: but that doesn't mean that innately it can't be done
SkyeDS: it means people didn't do their research. it's out there to
be found if ya look.
evile: Probably somekind of costume-nazi issue. sort of like people
who do 'witch' as a green faced crone in a pointy hat, which is NOT
in the least bit historical, but if they researched and dressed
period, they could be an authentic 'witch' in whatever period.
SkyeDS: some SCAdian was wanting to know what the Streghe wore as
identifiers to each other so she could be a period Streghe
SkyeDS: I pointed out to her that would have been a death sentence,
no one in their right minds, particularly n ot a noble woman, would
have been running around advertising that.
SkyeDS: besides, the likelihood that a noblewoman would have been
Streghe in the first place is not highly likely
SkyeDS: Streghe are blood clans, and historically the witch families
were not noble families.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: In Italy, it isn't a matter of, oh, I think I'll be a Wiccan
instead of a Catholic.
SkyeDS: It's a matter of, you're born into a family with witch blood
in it, and you're either a witch by birth or you aren't.
evile: that cimaruta thing is fugly anyway
SkyeDS: and it has markers, just like hair color, eye color, etc.
SkyeDS: I don't have a cimaruta yet.
SkyeDS: what she was talking about were the original red, black and
white braided cords.
evile: pretty sure grimassi just made it up.
evile: I imagine anybody non-christian in any o f the SCA periods
would not have realy gone advertising. Unless they were playing
someone from Japan, China, Middle EAst, something more among hte 'big
3' religions
SkyeDS: the Nazis in the SCA seem to be running around rampant a lot
lately
evile: 'lately' heh. that's cute.
SkyeDS: seems to me sometimes it's worse than others <shrugs>
evile: probably. Sort of like the cyclical flame wars on
alt.fairs.renaissance.
evile: after a run through a couple of cycles, you learn not to take
any of it personally & just let people wear themselves out on their
own.
SkyeDS: I didn't even bother with it. Anyone says anything to me
about it personally, well I' ve done my research, so I'm good to go.
evile: *nod*
evile: I never want to work that hard for something I'm not being
paid for. ...if you aren't my boss and you didn't buy my garb, you
can fuck right off.
SkyeDS: I think the whole reason some nazis don't like pirate /
viking / romany personas is because it gives us so much freedom -
both across the whole Period and across the whole Geography.
evile: yup
evile: oopsie, mess up. rebooting!
evile: well...maybe not. It crashed my launchcast but not icq. wierd.
evile: Are y'all camping out at table rock?
SkyeDS: not planning on it, no reason to
SkyeDS: it's just 45 min - hour away.
evile: *nod*
evile: a lot of time the camping is more fun than the faire, but I
have no idea where people camp for Tablerock.
SkyeDS: on t he grounds.
evile: really? wierd.
evile: were I a vendor, that would make me incredibly nervous--
drunken idiots staggering around in/near my booth.
SkyeDS: I don't know that they're letting patrons camp. But that's
where the vendors are camping.
evile: aha, OK.
evile: I'm almost done with my quota for today and I'm here until 4.
bleh.
evile: wonder if anyone would notice if I snuck off for a long walk
&/or a trip to th library...
SkyeDS: two hours, ew
evile: I know...suck!!!
evile: I usually pace myself better than that.
evile: Ok...done. an hour & 10 min to look busy.
SkyeDS: /me would help but I'm goofing off.
evile: heh. that's cool. I might go walk around.
I think I will..I need to go ahead and close everything. If I don't
sign back in before go-home time, I'll talk at ya tomorrow.
