Got home & changed clothes, then went to my tina appt. Aunt L was there
and just finishing up & calling me when I pulled in to the parking
lot. Good timing. Cousin B was home, taking a nap.

We went to dinner at Souper Salads after that.

Then I went home, called B. to gel plans for the weekend, then I
    went to sleep.

Slept 11 hours or so--7 pm to 6am. woke up a bit around 3:45, but
just got up and used the restroom. I was thinking about getting up
and doing a workout video, but then I slept some more instead.

I was dreaming about something like Summerfest, with D and Rio.
Depeche Mode and Lenny Kravitz were 2 of the bands. I was having a
nice visit with Martin Gore (?) from DM, and D was giving Lenny a
hard time becuase he'd apparently employed a female bass player but
not given her credits on the album or something. He gave some speech
about how from his culture, it was OK to ask a woman to join you if
you were playing loud music but not right to have her in the studio,
or something crazy like that. Apparently he put her on the level of
stage performer but not band member (ie: backupsinger, backup dancer,
etc.) even though she was an essential part of the sound. D was all
hollerin at him and telling him he was full of bullshit. It was funny
and cool and awesome, just the way D is.

I have a lot to do at home.

I want to make gumbo and hurricanes.

    *sigh*

    Stitches Lyrics
    by Orgy

If it stayed i'd never leave it
    If that turned around
I'd grieve the special dirty things that we used to talk about
I mean that loving you is strange
And adored by me throughout oh no it's you again
Someday soon you'll find that someone
Waiting for the chance to beat you
Drooling on the set to feel you
    Blessing you with every kiss

    Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
    So precious loving the thrill
    Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
    So precious loving the thrill

Such the patient one who needs me
    The spoiled one who wins
    So shocking where's your sense
Don't you know i hate you, ohoh
    Unsatisfied, you little girl.

    Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
    So precious loving the thrill
    Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
    So precious loving the thrill

    Rolling dice and seeming queer
    Bastard love, a sick affair
Let's see what new disease you'll fetch
I mean that fucking you is strange
    And adored by me throughout
    Oh no it's you again
    Blessing you with every kiss

So precious you know this hate of mine exploded
    I'm so deranged you know
I will never be the same

    Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
    So precious loving the thrill
    Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
    So precious loving the thrill

*fingers crossed* Hope your dress arrives soon! :)

I am sO glad it's Friday, and we have a 3 day weekend.
Tonight is a bellydance show, maybe a party for one of
Peglegasus & Sweetie's friends at Peglegasus's house, then tomorrow is a
bead show, a crafts & music faire downtown called
    "batfest"--fundraiser for bat conservation
international, then going to San Antonio to see D and
Rio, and that evening going to a rennie gathering
which will be a fundraiser/raffle for Katrina victims
(I am going to dig thru my crafts stuff to see if
there's anything I can raffle, and also maybe hit
Fiesta for CDM Beignet mix & coffee, package it up
with some mardi gras beads in a nifty basket)

Sunday is Toobin', and maybe hitting 80's night at one
of the clubs downtown, and then Monday is 'free day of
    yoga', plus maybe Hippie Hollow.

Wow, I'm exhausted just thinking about it all. I went
to bed super early last night, though, so I'm prepared
    for the trials ahead :)

I brought my only padded satin hanger so I can pop it right in the
dress bag to take home, AND, I brought a camera - I bet one of the
girls will take pix of me in the dress! I cannot wait until it gets
    here.

Sounds like you have a big big weekend!!! I am sure you will have a
fantastic time. The batfest sounds so coooooooool!!!!!!!

    When You're Evil Lyrics

When the Devil is too busy
And Death's a bit too much
They call on me by name you see,
    For my special touch.
To the Gentlemen I'm Miss Fortune
To the Ladies I'm Sir Prize
But call me by any name
Any way it's all the same

I'm the fly in your soup
I'm the pebble in your shoe
I'm the pea beneath your bed
I'm a bump on every head
I'm the peel on which you slip
I'm a pin in every hip
I'm the thorn in your side
    Makes you wriggle and writhe
And it's so easy when you're evil
This is the life, you see
The Devil tips his hat to me
I do it all because I'm evil
And I do it all for free
Your tears are all the pay I'll ever need

While there's children to make sad
While there's candy to be had
while there's pockets left to pick
While there's grannies left to trip down the stairs
I'll be there, I'll be waiting round the corner
    It's a game. I'm glad I'm in it
'Cause there's one born every minute
And it's so easy when you're evil
This is the life, you see
The Devil tips his hat to me
I do it all because I'm evil
And I do it all for free
Your tears are all the pay I'll ever need

I pledge my allegiance, to all things dark
And I promise on my damned soul
To do as I am told, Lord Beelzebub
Has never seen a soldier quite like me
Not only does his job, but does it happily.

I'm the fear that keeps you awake
I'm the shadows on the wall
    I'm the monsters they become
I'm the nightmare in your skull
I'm a dagger in your back
An extra turn on the rack
I'm the quivering of your heart
A stabbing pain, a sudden start.

And it's so easy when you're evil
This is the life, you see
The Devil tips his hat to me
I do it all because I'm evil
And I do it all for free
Your tears are all the pay I'll ever need
And I do it all for free
Your tears are all the pay I'll ever need
And I do it all for free
Your tears are all the pay I'll ever need

It gets so lonely being evil
What I'd do to see a smile
    Even for a little while
And no one loves you when you're evil
    I'm lying though my teeth!
Your tears are all the company I need

she is upsetting me with her ignorant political blather. ICQ just
wnet down with an error message. I am wondering if I should just
    leave it down.

evile: tgif. finally. I really needed a 3 day weekend..even though
this one is looking to be crazy-busy.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: they've already got some evacuated kids starting school at
    RRISD. that was quick.
SkyeDS: they drove Fritz yesterday completely loose inside the trailer
    evile: wow.
SkyeDS: no shipping boots, no shipping blankets, no shipping anything
SkyeDS: I haul without shipping equipment and with t he girls untied
because I KNOW they can handle it safely
SkyeDS: two horses in a two horse trailer have nowhere to go
SkyeDS: one horse ricocheting around loose in a 4 horse trailer by
    himself on the other hand...
    evile: poor thing.
SkyeDS: he's going home to a 60' pen with no shade and no grass.
SkyeDS: she's going to put up a tarp.
SkyeDS: like he's going to stand under that without being tied, right.
evile: that sucks. I've heard/read that you need 2 acres for every 1
horse. Maybe less if you feed instead of letting them graze, but
    STILL.
SkyeDS: exactly. and he's a stallion, and he's going to be kept near
    mares.
SkyeDS: mares with foals, which is worse.
SkyeDS: actually, if the grass is good like ours and with the right
fencing and rotation, it works out to 2 acres for the first horse and
1 acre for every other horse after that, but still.
    evile: *nod*
evile: I have *so* much to do at home. I really dont want to be at
    work.
evile: I need to start some laundry, do dishes, vacuum, and then I
need to go thru stuff and find anything to raffle at the rennie
gathering on Saturday night, plus make a run for gumbo fixin's,
    hurricane mix, etc. *sigh*
evile: on top of that, we are VERY caught up at work, and my
coworkers will not shut up about New Orleans, and they are making me
    sick with
    their insensitive and ignorant comments.

    SkyeDS: nods :( hugs
evile: really, they are discussing it with as much excitement as they
talked about American Idol and Survivor and the season finale of
Buffy...it's all fucking ENTERTAINMENT to them.
    SkyeDS: http://www.chboa.com/dixie.html
evile: I'm about all full of sad now; can't take too much more. :(
evile: it's like...just when you think people cant' be any more
filthy and disgusting, something happens to drag your opinion to a
    new low. *sigh*
SkyeDS: and of course they're playing the race card
SkyeDS: Act of God, but "women and minorities hardest hit"
    SkyeDS: jesus h fucking christ
SkyeDS: if God ended the planet tomorrow the media would be saying,
planet dies today, women and minorities hardest hit
SkyeDS: and then the media says, you can't blame them for looting
(I'm not talking food and water), raping, and shooting at rescuers
SkyeDS: because they're poor and/or black
SkyeDS: what has being poor and/or black got to do with looting,
raping and murder of those trying to save your ass/
evile: the majority of the population in NO is black & poor,
therefore the majority of people doing *anything* is goin to be black
    & poor.
SkyeDS: and just where do you intend to take the 50"+ plasma screen
tvs anyway I want to know?
evile: hope they drown with 'em.
    SkyeDS: exactly.
SkyeDS: hurricanes don't give a damn about race.
SkyeDS: and I get so fucking sick and tired of the race card.
SkyeDS: just as much as I do the "chillun/chirren" card.
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: a small handful of republicans already want Shrub's blood
    over illegals
SkyeDS: if Salon can prove what they allege about LA money getting
    diverted for Iraq
evile: our entire political system is rotten.
SkyeDS: we just may have impeachment, boyz n girlz
evile: If we killed all the politicians from everyone above 'mayor'
and started over, maybe we'd be able to get a better bunch in place.
As it is, we'll just be replacing roaches with rats.
    SkyeDS: indeed
evile: heard an audio recording of the mayor of NO in a radio
interview. He sounds so exhausted, angry, and frustrated...but he's
out there doing stuff. Giuliani did the same during 9/11. Good men.
SkyeDS: he's already fingerpointing, my guess is he goes after Bush
SkyeDS: who even if he didn't provably divert funds diverted national
    guard to go to Iraq
evile: well, Bush needed to be impeached, long ago, before it got to
this. But...if his PR handlers and speechwriters spun this right, it
could be a great opportunity for him.
SkyeDS: 911 would have been a great opportunity for him adn he fucked
    that up royally
SkyeDS: if he had wanted to go after Saddam, a nd for that matter 8
other ME leaders, he should have done it the week after 911
SkyeDS: the rest of the world and the rest of the country wouldn't
    have said squat
SkyeDS: and he wouldn't have wasted political capital a nd then
gotten us involved in another Viet Nam
SkyeDS: something else he should have done is rescind Carter's "No
    political assassinations" EO
SkyeDS: sent a small specialized force in
SkyeDS: and either taken Saddam out that way, or at least found where
    he was and bombed strategically
SkyeDS: and then done that to about 7 other leaders
    SkyeDS: but NO.
SkyeDS: and while we're on the subject, why is Saudi Arabia not on t
he shitlist we should have but don't
evile: I dunno. I'm not in charge of nothin.
SkyeDS: if you stood Bush right in front of Clinton you could take
them both out with one bullet (for treason)
evile: eh, bush is just a tool. killing him woudln't change anything.
evile: Our executive director just sent out email looking for
volunteers to take UI claims in Houston & surrounding areas for LA
    and MS evacuees.
SkyeDS: if I had a Honda Insight I could get to work on one gallon of
    gas.
evile: definitely something to think about

evile: that was wierd. I got disconnected. :(
    SkyeDS: wb
evile: I guess we'll see if I stay back now...that was odd.
evile: I think if they still need extra hands on Monday, I'll see
about going out there. But it's all computers and paper, I don't see
why we'd need to be physically THERE.
SkyeDS: Monday is a national holiday isn't it?
    SkyeDS: or does that matter
evile: no, he was asking for volunteers to leave for Houston at 4:30
today & work thru the weekend.
evile: Bless Nova's naive little heart.
    SkyeDS: ?
evile: she posted this in her LJ earlier. Don reposted it in his, he
    thinks it's brilliant.
    http://www.livejournal.com/users/scrith/58509.html
evile: tavalon's response was harsh, but pretty dead-on, I'm afraid.
SkyeDS: we haven't had laissez faire in decades maybe centuries
SkyeDS: however, usually market forces work, eventually
SkyeDS: people are whining but they aren't buying more fuel efficient
cars and they drove more this summer than ever before
SkyeDS: (now, I understand SUV sales are slowly falling)
SkyeDS: in Europe they have less takehome pay than we do, because of
confiscatory taxes, but they afford 6/7$ gal gas
SkyeDS: this is because their cars get 50 mpg
SkyeDS: they take buses/rail (which is more reliable, because their
cities are denser, among other things)
    SkyeDS: and they walk/ride bikes
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: gas may eventually hit that here and force us to change our
    ways
SkyeDS: I'm not espousing this, but one way to bring that about
quicker would certainly be to have a fed gas tax of $3 or so
evile: the good news is biodiesel is now price competitive with
    regular diesel
SkyeDS: put that money in an energy only lockbox
SkyeDS: I'm hoping the cost of diesel vehicles goes down in two years
because I want a full ton diesel I can run on biodiesel to haul with
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I have a reason to have a diesel/run biodisel
SkyeDS: most people don't have any reason/need for SUVs/minivans
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: my ranger is paid for and fuel efficient for a little truck
    that's 10 years old
SkyeDS: when I have to replace it, it will be with either a hybrid or
the most fuel efficient gas engine I can find
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: this country ran just fine for more than 100 years on
consumption taxes and no income taxes
SkyeDS: I would rather pay $3 per gallon of gas in taxes than
    continue to pay income taxes
evile: novel idea. make people pay for what the y use.
SkyeDS: very novel. Hasn't been tried since, oh...they wrote the
    Constitution...
SkyeDS: (actually...1913/14 = birth of federal income tax)
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and if it weren't for fucked up public schools for fucked up
children of fucked up parents my property taxes wouldn't be so high
    if necessary at all
    evile: yup
evile: dammit. Launchcast is not working anymore and now I have to
listen to my coworkers ignorant babble without a buffer.
    SkyeDS: :( hugs
evile: at least now they're mostly talking about whether or not to
volunteer to go to houston & area to take DUA claims.
evile: I am going to try rebooting.

    and by shooting at rescuers.

SkyeDS: Mom has Stuart, Skippy, Skippy's mom, Skippy's grandparents,
a nd Skippy's friend w/ 8 yo child staying with her and Dad.

    killing someone else.
SkyeDS: particularly if Stuart insists on smoking in t he house
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: this is a good case in point for private gun ownership
SkyeDS: living proof that "outlawing guns means only outlaws have
    them"
evile: eh, if you took away guns, they'd just hit each other with
rocks and stab each other with pointy sticks.
    SkyeDS: that's true
SkyeDS: but in an emergency I'd rather protect my family with a gun
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: the bad guys have guns
SkyeDS: take them away from the good guys and then we're facing guns
    with rocks and pointy sticks
    evile: yup
evile: personally, when the shit hits the fan I want to be one of
the first casualties. I'm sterile so I can't help repopulate, and I'd

    currency.
SkyeDS: for me it depends on what shit specifically hits the fan
SkyeDS: I want to be the first to go especially if it's nuclear
SkyeDS: I want to be the first to go in any situation wherein I
cannot personally protect my own "children"
evile: a little bit of good news today--my cousin Saylor in Mobile,
AL. had a baby boy, Logan, they are both healthy and doing well.
    SkyeDS: :D
evile: I don't think it takes anything away from people for me to be
happy and enjoying my life & my loved ones.
SkyeDS: what good does it do anyone else for us to be miserable?
SkyeDS: I signed us up with USEF to board refugees that have horses
    evile: good for you :)
SkyeDS: I don't think they would accept blood from either me or sineater

evile: *nod* they do ask a lot of questions & I think they disqualify

evile: jeez...even if I wanted to , I don't think I could get to the

evile: and noww ith the flames breaking out on the list..probably for

    SkyeDS: flames bout?
evile: *nod* jadey got emotional on the list and even though one of
the mods said 'hey, this isn't the proper forum for this', replies
    are starting to come in.
evile: I love jadey, she's one of the sweetest, most open-hearted
people I've ever met. She's one of those 'everybody's mom' kind of
people, she'd give you anything or do anything for you...but she
    definitely gets emotional.
SkyeDS: I suppose I could go look for myself couldn't I
SkyeDS: does it start with "for shame"?
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: Bush mobilized FEMA two days before landfall so I am
wondering where teh disconnect is myself
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: the Army Corp of Engineers is disputing that the money went
to Iraq, they're saying they just didn't want to spend it
SkyeDS: .... I don't know why she would have posted that in
    Voyagers...
    SkyeDS: nobody said a word
evile: I know. she just got emotional and let her fingers get ahead
    of her brain.
evile: the voyagers list is annoying enough with all the "Mr Sir Lord
Dommly Dom" asking for directions to the party which have been posted
at least 3 fricken times already
evile: I'm sorry, but if you dont' have enough common sense to search
group message archives, I am NOT trusting you to tie me up or light

    SkyeDS: LOL
evile: either theyr'e stupid, lazy or spoiled, and none of the 3

SkyeDS: ya know, I'm no big fan of the SHrub, I did not vote for the
Shrub, and I wouldn't argue against impeachment of the Shrub
SkyeDS: but he did not cause the hurricane
SkyeDS: and he did mobilize FEMA two days before it hit
    evile: *nod*

Frank Sinatra & Robbie Williams - It Was A Very Good Year

When I was seventeen, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for small town girls, and soft summer nights
We'd hide from the lights, on the village green
    When I was seventeen

When I was twenty-one, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for city girls who lived up the stair
    With all that perfumed hair
    And it came undone
    When I was twenty-one

When I was thirty-five, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls of independent means
We'd ride in limousines, their chaffeurs would drive
    When I was thirty-five

But now the days are short
I'm in the Autumn of the year
And now I think of my life, as vintage wine, from fine older kegs
From the brim to the dregs
    It poured sweet and clear
It was a very good year

"I'm an Adult Now" by The Pursuit of Happiness off Love Junk

Well, I don't hate my parents
I don't get drunk just to spite 'em
I got my own reasons to drink now
Think I'll call my dad up and invite him
I can sleep in till noon any time I want
Though there's not many days that I do
Gotta get up and take on that world
When you're an adult, it's no cliche,
    it's the truth

    'Cause I'm an adult now
    I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and on my shoulders
    I'm an adult now

I can't even look at young girls anymore
People will think I'm some kind of pervert
Adult sex is either boring or dirty
Young people they can get away with murder
I don't write songs about girls anymore
I have to write songs about women
No more boy meets girl, boy loses girl
More like, man tries to understand
    what the hell went wrong

    Chorus

I can't take anymore illicit drugs
I can't afford any artificial joy
I'd sure look like a fool dead in a
    ditch somewhere
With a mind full of chemicals,
like some cheese-eating high school boy

    Chorus

Sometimes my head hurts and sometimes
    my stomach hurts
And I guess that it won't be long
Till I'm sitting in a room with a bunch
of people who's necks and backs are aching
    Who's sight and hearings fading
Who just can't seem to get it up
Speaking of hearing, I can't take too much
    loud music
I mean I like to play it, but I sure
    don't like the racket
Noise, but I can't hear anything
    Just guitars screaming, screaming, screaming
Some guy screaming in a leather jacket

    Chorus
