evile: happy hump day!
SkyeDS: ello, luv :)
evile: How's your day going?
SkyeDS: it goes
evile: Taking Friday off, yes?
SkyeDS: lot of stuff to do today to get ready to leave tomorrow
SkyeDS: half day tomorrow too
evile: I bet.
evile: [Uncle B]'s brother the priest got into town yesterday--he's
visiting for 3 weeks. I'm kind of glad that I'm totally busy for the
next while & won't have to go make nice.
SkyeDS: there is an honorary member of Joanie's side that is a
priest, he's a delightful man, I enjoy spending time with him - very
fortunate
evile: [Uncle B]'s brother is not mean, he's just really really boring.
SkyeDS: sineater didn't think to call back till after the debate was over
last night.
evile: Oh, I wasn't home, anyway. So it's fine.
evile: Hopefully we'll be able to touch bases tonight.
SkyeDS: he will be leaving after work on Friday whenever that ends up
being
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: they didn't get their printed tickets in time anyway, so they
sent me a voucher that came in under 24 hours
SkyeDS: and email that said I can use my paypal receipt at the gate
as well
SkyeDS: and they'll have a list at gate
evile: heh. That's cool
SkyeDS: if you wanted to get cheap online still
evile: I still haven't really decided if I'm going, to be honest.
evile: If I can't get some comosayama together w/sineater, I dont' want
to be driving out in BFE all by myself after dark.
SkyeDS: no problem for him to pick you up on his way out, for sure
evile: Well, I'll talk about it w/sineater. I come with a lot of baggage
& I dont' really know how much fun I'll have or how long I will want
to stay.
SkyeDS: there is that.
evile: I really really hated CMA's beltaine. I should have left a lot
sooner than I actually did, but I kept hoping that something would
happen and I"d make friends and have fun.
SkyeDS: anytime you carpool with someone else you have no freedom
evile: I can only hang around being a 5th wheel for so long...
SkyeDS: caravaning as opposed to carpooling could work, if you have a
working vehicle at your disposal. then you aren't driving byself in
dark, and can leave when you like
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: his email at work is apparently messed up.
SkyeDS: and nobody ever answers the lab phone when I call
evile: *nod* I got a bounce message this a.m. from an email I sent
yesterday.
evile: Actually, I think I'll go ahead and not go. I am sure to have
a miserable time, why not save myself some time and $.
SkyeDS: k
evile: CMA & poly big fun really burned me, I guess...no more
camping with big groups of strangers.
evile: I just didn't realize how much it burned me until I tried to
do it again, I guess.
SkyeDS: If I weren't taking the children I wouldn't be going
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: with children, doesn't matter they're all strangers. And
too, have sineater (eventually) and sonar0m
evile: yup
evile: I know I'm hard to take in big doses, I won't inflict myself
on you all weekend.
SkyeDS: lol it would be the other way around more like
evile: nope, you've actually got something to do there, with the
vending & whatnot. I'd just be bored/boring & in the way.
evile: I could always work on a sewing project this weekend...
SkyeDS: nods
evile: Sweetie won't be around, so I can use the kitchen counter, dining
room table, etc, and just spread out.
SkyeDS: yep
evile: That sounds kinda good. I went looking for a pattern last
night in my owrk room & couldn't find any of them...I am wondering if
I put them somewhere they wouldn't get lost...
SkyeDS: lol
evile: either that or I threw them away, because I had never used
them and was never GOING to use them...I do that to myself sometimes
SkyeDS: <poseur. never really do anything with what I accumulate
evile: me too, mostly.
evile: I just need to get organized, or get more organized, or
something. NOthing kills a project faster than realizing the thing I
need to do step 3 is in the 2nd box from the bottom of a stack of 7
boxes.
SkyeDS: amen
evile: at that point it's usually *sigh* and *toss* into pile of UFOs
SkyeDS: I wonder if I took all my raw materials if anyone would be
interest in buying large batches of them
evile: wouldn't hurt to try. I am going to try & do that one of these
days, too.
evile: (still need to research costs of citywide garage sale vs.
first saturday at Wimberley, plus whatever I need to do for
accountant to end the business & zero out the inventory)
evile: At past craft shows I've taken a selection of beads & put them
in small ziplock-type baggies and put them in a bowl or basket, which
seemed to go over pretty well.
SkyeDS: what I was thinkin
evile: and then I just got round bright-colored stickers for price
tags. People like price tags.
evile: And I don't think most people like digging through un-
organized stuff, so the baggies helped with that.
SkyeDS: yep, need to get baggies and stickers, knew that
SkyeDS: for the bottles at the very least
evile: *nod*
evile: Oh, here's a pleasant rumor for a change:
http://www.livejournal.com/community/austincommunity/1920518.html
SkyeDS: hot damn :D
evile: I hope it's somewhere more central, not round rock or cedar
park or bfe.
SkyeDS: I wouldn't complain about round rock, but I understand
evile: it's wierd--Austin commercial real estate is still wildly
overpriced despite the bust & recession
evile: If I owned an office building, I'd rather have some tenants
for less money, than NO tenants at my higher lease rate ... but then
again, I'm not a real estate person, so there must be something I'm
missing.
SkyeDS: not really
evile: seems like vacant theatres stand empty for a long time...so if
the owners were asking any thing reasonable for them, discount cinema
could easily find a new home...
SkyeDS: yep
evile: I guess I'll do another big movie-thon when the new location
is up and running :) That'll be fun.
SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: hopefully see vanity fair
SkyeDS: and Skycaptain
evile: *nod*
evile: both seem like they'd be better on a big screen.
SkyeDS: there's a b/g macaw in VF
evile: cool.
SkyeDS: I am so easily amused. And sometimes I tickle myself pink.
(like my LOI from Arthur as Kumpania Herald)
evile: that was cute
SkyeDS: Mom laughed politely.
SkyeDS: I thought it was great.
evile: :)
SkyeDS: you've heard of REvenge of the Nerds?
SkyeDS: Linda got revenge on the bird.
SkyeDS: he wakes everybody up every time we camp, at like 7 am
SkyeDS: so at Linda's, he's still catnapping quietly, awake but not a
peep, at 8 am
SkyeDS: and Linda stands closeby to hollar up the stairwell "Oye Oye
Oye breakfast is served downstairs" and scared the shit out of him.
Twice.
evile: aww. way to reinforce that good behavior...
SkyeDS: he got her back
SkyeDS: one of her horses moved off on her before she was completely
in the saddle and he laughed maniacally, which set Laura to laughing
at her and then everybody else.
evile: heh.
SkyeDS: wonder if I should invest in a polaroid and some film at this
point
evile: You could sell photos, easily, at a pretty good markup.
SkyeDS: I'm t hinkin rides $5, photos $3, bottles $3, baggies of
crafty $3
evile: sounds reasonable.
SkyeDS: readings $10 maybe
SkyeDS: bet I won't sell any readings tho
SkyeDS: usually a lot of people (at CMA at least) doing them free
SkyeDS: will do a sign up list for charts and feathers
evile: cool.
SkyeDS: since I just gave every feather I had to Laura, Linda and
Michelle (Laura's daughter)
SkyeDS: I've got a bunch of earrings around somewhere to sell too
SkyeDS: not worth more than $2 in my opinion but if I'm selling
everything else for $3...
evile: just be sure and go out there with a stockpile of ones for
change.
SkyeDS: yep
evile: (only thing I don't like about selling things for odd #s)
SkyeDS: can't sell everything at increments of 5 and 10 because that
would be way too much for my stuff
evile: *nod*
evile: it's handy having my credit union in the building, I always
stock up on 1s and 5s before a show, and it's not too big a hassle to
do so.
evile: I notice that this year Ingleside has a vendor app you can
print from teh website. That would've been nice to have last year
when I still thought I had a hope in hell of doing Magpies.
SkyeDS: I don't have to fill anything out for Ingleside this year
because I'm demo'ing with the SCA. This makes lazy me happy.
evile: *nod* that's very cool.
evile: I actually wrote to them last year, SASE even (I think...it's
been a while) asking for a vendor app, got nothing back. :(
SkyeDS: I emailed, they emailed back
evile: I can't even remember if I emailed or not...*shrug* fuck me
for tryin'
SkyeDS: the woman running it was greener than grass
SkyeDS: direct quote from one of the vendors who's done all five
years with them
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: if you'd gone to make money you probably wouldn't have
evile: probably not.
SkyeDS: we made like $60
SkyeDS: and if we'd paid for the booth that would have been $50
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and then if you further subtracted food, gas and hotel room
SkyeDS: they gave us the booth for free
evile: I kind of liked being able to come & go as I please. BUT I
also need to either get back on the horse or shoot it cleanly in the
head...even my accountant is getting tired of dealing with my
pathetic little no-business business.
SkyeDS: understandable
evile: I'd like to put [Aunt L] to work now that she's retired, but...
SkyeDS: most retired people I know work harder filling up their spare
time than they did on the job, lol
evile: *nod*
evile: Today is Onyxlynxx's b-day. She has a date, but she's stopping by
Central Market for a bit, anyway :)
SkyeDS: have sineater on phone, told him to call your cell
evile: I don't have any signal at the 'mo....irritating.
evile: if he dumps right into voicemail, it's because I have no
signal in this building.
SkyeDS: he will try email next
evile: emails always the best bet during the work day.
SkyeDS: yep
evile: there it is.
evile: well, I'm gonna pack it in for the day. If I don't see ya
before you leave work tomorrow, have a safe trip & a fun weekend.
*hugs*
SkyeDS: HUGS
