EJ May 22 2002
May. 22nd, 2002 08:32 pm- May 22, 2002Skate nite was cool. I didn't get there until about 8:30. Watched
That 70's Show season finale, stopped at Target & got a waffle iron
to use this weekend on the Dean & Deluca gift pkg. Jen sent. It was
on sale for $9.99, originally $12.99. cool! There were also some
really nice incenses in the candles/room scents section, but I didn't
buy any.
David and Lynn and Jason were all there, from last week. I didnt' see
Lourdes. David and Lynn are taking a nice vacation starting Friday--
flying out to CA and then taking the train up the coast to
Washington. Very cool. They have friends in CA and family in WA.
Sounds like a nice trip.
Tom & I went to Deckard & Haas and dropped off my Subaru to get the
body work done. They didn't give an estimate of how long it will take
to fix, but in a way I hope it takes until the end of the month,
because that's when I'll be able to pay for the work & they won't
give it back until they get paid in full. But it also might be nice
to have it done before that, even if I can't pay for it and pick it
up. So...it sucks that I won't have transportation over the long
weekend, but it's good that I'm getting my car fixed. Next month will
be an expensive car month - paying for the repair, plus paying extra
to the lease people for car property tax (which I _still_ think is
wrong!) The total on that is more than $400, but I'm paying it in
several smaller payments.
I had been hoping to get more $ for my b-day, but ah well. I am doing
ok, and haven't used my credit card at all this month. That's very
cool.
Good news at work: Steve H, the little man with the big stink, is
retiring. He supervises some of the more worthless clerical staff
here. He is short and wears too much cologne and is always trying to
push off his peoples' mistakes on the notice writers. No official
word on why he's retiring--his last day is May 31, but he is taking
vacation days until then. Henry says it may be a resurgence of some
prostate problems that he had a while back (somehow quite fitting).
Yay! the 2nd-littlest nazi is gone! Hopefully they will promote one
of his people to the position. I wouldn't mind having it...but I
don't really know how to boss people, and I don't really like his
people. Plus there are problems in his bunch, with him and some of
his people being ugly to one particular person in his unit....I don't
really know what's up with all that.
- May 22, 2002There is no surer way of subduing and oppressing the woman than with
repeated pregnancies. The demands this makes on the woman occupy and
wear her out until she cannot make any demands for herself.
-Dr. Hedy Porteous, Sex and Identity
I have never been attracted by fecundity. It is the refusal of
utility: participation in the continuity of the species is an
abdication. In order to have children, a humility nearly
inconceivable in the modern world is necessary, a brutalized
passivity or a mad pretension Myself, I know that I belong to the
idea of Lilith, the anti-Eve, and that my universe is that of the
spirit. Physical maternity instinctively repulses me. Leonor Fini
There are many women who want to have children. Our planet is
overcrowded already, so if a woman doesn't feel like it, it is
infinitely preferable that she abstain. A lynx needs 400 kilometers
of territory, otherwise it dies. People need space and they haven't
got enough Nelly Kaplan- May 22, 2002Do you have "friends" that you don't really like? Why do you hang out
with them?
What word and/or phrase do you find yourself using a lot? (i.e. dude,
hella etc) How did you come by that certain word and/or phrase? Did
someone say it a lot and you just eventually caught on and found
yourself saying it too?
What do you think of the rain? Soothing or annoying? Explain.
Have you ever caught yourself doing something that only your
siginificant other or family member does?
Do consider yourself intelligent? Smart? Clever? How do you define
that?
do you belong to a certain online group or group blog?
What were your favorite childhood TV shows?
How much time do you spend online every day (estimated, on average)?
What do you do online?
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
why do we read each other's web logs? what is the point?
What is your meaning of life? Do you know yet? If not, do you think
you'll ever know? Can we, as human beings, ever really fully
comprehend the meaning of life, the importance of each of our own
lives?

http://www.sunmex.com/English/tours/Diving.htm- May 22, 2002Writer's Digest has a mini-contest every month. This
month's assignment is: Consider your favorite fairy
tale, movie, book or story that ends with two main
characters falling in love and getting married. Go
beyond the story's ending and write a "Dear John"
letter from either the male or female perspective
telling your former spouse why the two of you cannot
remain together. Did you outgrow him or her? Do you
have a horrible secret to hide? Love lasts "forever"
but your entry can't; keep your letter to 75 words or
less (including title).
Here is my letter:
To: Prince@kingdom.gov
From: Cinderella@attic.com
Date: June 10, 2002
Subject: Us
Dearest,
You're a caring, sensitive guy, but I'm just not into
that right now. Those horrible women enslaved me.
You brought my first taste of freedom, but now I need
more. A girl from the village invited me on a road
trip. We plan to drive across the country in her
Thunderbird and have many adventures. I'm so sorry.
