374 The weekend

Saturday: hideous evil wind. News guy said they had records of 40+mph
winds that day. Dammn. So..Alex helped me set up & stuff. He was a
little surly. I am, too, though. So it was all ok. J&K's wedding was
ok. K wrote the vows; very king james english, kind of silly. But
short, sweet & to the point. Catered dinner by Bill Miller BBQ, lots
of cheap wine & beer. The refectory bldg. at Bastrop State park is
nice, and pretty inexpensive to rent $150. Not bad.

So anyway...got back to faire just after it'd closed, Alex & I packed
up stuff and went on home. Left the EZ Up there for Sunday.

Sunday, started unpacking. Have a new neighbor: Fair E Wings or
someshit. Ugly tacky fake flowers & butterflies hot-glued to combs &
barettes. Very ugly. They are going to vend TRF. Diana, booth owner
and husband Michael are very much like Eric & Andrea, but not to the
same degree of hateful insanity. But, wife is loud, fat, doesn't
listen much, but talks alot. Husband goes between mumbling "yes dear"
and mumbling ugly things to/about his wife. ick. Diana's sister,
Yvonne, was supposed to help, but she didn't even show up until 11 or
so, and was constantly wandering off, for smoke breaks, or whatever.
ack.

It rained on us a little. It was a little cold on Sun, but not bad.
My face feels windburned. Maybe sunburned, too.

I got some good ideas for my costume, my booth, and making new
things. I am looking forward to the next couple weekends.

375 Excalibur butt-headedness

Well, I talked to Jeanette at Excalibur,and she was about as
understanding as I expected: which is Not.

She suggested that I put up a 'help wanted' sign up front. a) I do
not want to employ anyone. Even if all I paid was minimum wage, It
would cost more than it took in to have someone working my booth for
minimum wage on a Sunday, judging from this week's sales. b) I do
not want anyone I do not know in my booth, representing my business
and handling my money. I am wierd enough about X, one of my oldest
bestest friends, bringing a friend I don't know. Like she'd let her
friend steal from me! WHATEVER. But if I'm that worried about X
and her friend in there without me, imagine what a wreck I'd be over
having a complete stranger in there.

She told me it would be a breach of my contract if I wasn't there the
24th, and that I would not be considered as a vendor next year. And
then she implied that there might be ugliness if I didn't show up on
the 24th and then came back to vend on the 30th-31st.

I suggested that if she had anyone on her waiting list who might want
in for 1 day, she could call them, but she said that's not possible.

And then when I tried to ask for some understanding, since I'd signed
up for NM way back at the beginning of Feb, and only signed up with
Excalibur 2 weeks ago, she said "You never know, opportunities may
present themselves" basically leaving me with no real idea of what's
going to happen.

You know...I didn't see her at all on Sunday the 10th. I don't think
she'd even know if I wasn't there on the 24th.
