the two immediate nits I have to pick:

Author telling people to give up 'addictions' to coffee, nicotine, etc. (actually, did he mention booze, I don't think he did. I bet he drinks & has wormweaseled a way to justify it in his pointy head.) I drink coffee, and I, too, think spending $5 a day on a 600 calorie Starfucks Tall latte grande super caramel gooombah is a dumb thing to do, in terms of both finances and nutrition. So...whatever, dude. you indulge your expensive hobby and I'll indulge in my $7/lb fair trade organic coffee beans, which are then ground and brewed at home at a cost of probably ten cents a cup.

Author telling readers not to breed, while persisting in spreading his own (no doubt superior to YOURS) seed around (see pictures of boy and girl sprogs, taken with Nikon 420 F U on 20-eleventy-hundred speed film in bla debla light, who gives a shit dumbfuck)

Oh. My. Non. Existent. Gods.

What. A. Fucking. Asshole.

My god. The condescending, patronizing tone of that article just really pisses me right the fuck off.

I have responses to some specifics, but they're so foul mouthed that I might scare even you.

And I don't think I can finish reading it. If that sonofabitch calls me stupid one more time, I might have to hunt him down and strangle him.

I know, right?!?

Some of what he says makes sense...but the tone definitely leaves a lot to be desired. He has a lot of underlying assumptions going on.

OK, I'm partway into it, and I think the tips ought to include, "Be born part Scots." :)

(I think we have that covered, so our kids do, as well.)

Huh, I'm guessing the big fan of water hasn't ordered it in some of the restaurants I frequent. Oh, wait, those restaurants don't have a $1 menu!

(Let me know if I should stop making random comments here on this, or delete anything that annoys you, it's your LJ.)

Nah, random is fine. I usually can't think of any suitable replies, but I do read and enjoy your comments :)

I have a friend who beat her addiction simply by stopping and toughing it out. She is from Texas; I don't know if mere Americans are tough enough to beat nicotine this way.

Heheheh

Gotta admit, I'm with him on tipping well. It's a good habit to be in -- most of the times you eat where tipping is expected, you're probably planning on eating there again. They'll like to see you coming, and may be quicker to treat you well.

(I've been known to tip 25% at Sonic, though. Only the one I go to the most. And I'll tip more if it's My Most Favorite Carhop In The Whole World bringing my food out.)

And, I gotta say, I really like the "flowers" bit -- I don't like flowers because I'm allergic, but if someone just handed me a $20 every time he'd otherwise blow it on flowers for me, I'd be a happy geek, indeed. (You know how much intellectual property you can get at Half-Price Books for $20?)

OK, the plug for payment at the end was tacky. Then again, what did I expect when I got to the part about addiction, where he was being so self-righteous about it?
