Up around 7:30, did not get out the door until almost 10. Sweetie was
just dawdling like crazy. I don't even know how he manages to waste
so much time. I tried not to be naggy & crazy about it, just sat &
read and drank coffee, dinked on the internet, etc etc. while he did
whatever. Called Dave around 9:30 to say we were not yet leaving,
might not be in Houston until 1 or so. I think it was more like 1:30,
but Dave didn't seem too upset. David was able to join us; he'd been
working that morning, so would not have been able to make it to
brunch, so maybe it's all for the best.

We went to this place called "vietnam" and had asian food. It was
tasty. It rained & poured while we were in the restaurant, but passed
quickly & then we got back on the road.

Got into Galveston a bit after 5 I think. Set up camp, walked on the
beach, took the flashlight out & stalked crabs with it after sunset,
then Sweetie had a meltdown about Nickie, apparently he had been planning
on scattering her ashes, and was just having a hard time working up
to it. He cried. I cried. Finally we walked out to the shore & he
poured her ashes into the ocean, as we walked. Her last walk on the
beash, he said. But...in some ways she's still here & always will be.
We took her to the beach a bunch of times, so there are still
memories of that...I hope it was healing for him. It's hard to say.
I always think he's OK, and then something will happen to show that
he really isn't. I know he's still mourning his dad. *sigh*

    So that was sad.

Next morning we got up around 9, had sex, made breakfast on the
grill, and packed up. We drove over to the ferry, went over to
Bolivar (I like it, it's seedy!), went to Crystal beach (the name!
ICK!), walked & swam, had sandwiches for lunch, then left there about
4 and drove home. With a stop somewhere near Brenham for dinner at K-
[uncle B]'s steakhouse. Got home around 10:30, showered, did some laundry,
    went to bed.

Msg from [aunt L] on the machine. [rubber pig] called to say that they are
moving & need to get rid of Paulie (no, really this time! yeah yeah)
so [aunt L] seemed to have some baroque overly-complex plan involving me
calling sineater to have sineater call [brother A] to make arrangements. Something
about [brother A] & [rubber pig] will drive Paulie to Austin, anyway...

I dunno. I emailed [aunt L] w/sineater's phone # at home & to the best of my
knowledge, when he would be home & skye_ds wouldn't. She called me on
my cell this a.m. around 10:30, saying something about how would I
call sineater and ask sineater to call [brother A], bla bla, and I tried to be
polite (but probably failed) and told her that if [brother A] & [rubber pig] are
asking a favor, wouldn't it be more polite for [brother A] or [rubber pig] to call
sineater/skye_ds to ask & make the arrangements? She seemed to see this as
a novel concept. I am glad to see her taking steps to take herself
out of the middle, but let's go one step further and not put ME into
    the mix in her stead.

    evile: howdy :)
SkyeDS: hey there. got a call from [Aunt L] this morning (I was very
    late leaving the house today)
evile: She left a msg. on our machine Saturday evening. Supposedly
[rubber pig] & [brother A] are *really* moving this time and need to dump Paulie.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Apparently I was supposed to call her back, then call y'all,
then have y'all call [brother A], bla bla. It was terribly complex and
    useless.
evile: Then she called me at work and said I needed to have sineater call
[brother A] to arrange the dog sitch. And I was just like WTF...[brother A] and
[rubber pig] are the ones needing the favor, shouldn't THEY call sineater/skye_ds?
evile: And, again, why should [aunt L] or I be in the middle of the
    transaction?
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: sineater's first day of work is today
evile: I am more than happy to pick up, drop off, or be the meeting
point between y'all and [brother A], BUT I don't need to get mixed up in the
planning stages, seems to me that just makes everything overly open
    to miscommunication
SkyeDS: the paperwork is still not done
    evile: typical Dell.
SkyeDS: he has more to worry about right now than he needs and I
don't think he needs to be trying to call SA today.
SkyeDS: they can call later tonight
SkyeDS: like way later tonight, since fighter practice is in Taylor
    and not Rockdale.
SkyeDS: sonar0m took first in his class and second overall, won $40
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: we bought two new rope halters w/ leads and a new bit for
    Jezz.
SkyeDS: I want to try them out
SkyeDS: and a pretty poster book lol
evile: I tried to email [brother A] with y'alls contact info (phone & email)
    but it bounced.
SkyeDS: L. said she would have them call us tonight.
evile: She needs to get out of it.
    SkyeDS: she sounded not happy
    evile: *nod*
evile: the shit with the critters just stresses her out & breaks her
heart. No reason for her to subject herself to it.
evile: Put origin in contact with location and then forget about it,
unless origin and or location ask you to be a waypoit between
SkyeDS: once I find Paulie a home, I don't intend for him to go
    back. Is that cool?
evile: The way I see it, 1) beggars can't be choosers and 2) [brother A]
needs to learn that there are consequences to actions. Paulie will
live, but [brother A] may not ever see him again. Needs to have a lesson
that fucking HURTs so he won't fuck around with innocent lives in
    future.
SkyeDS: I mean, if we keep him, it's not an issue, but if he goes to
live with Connie's pack, I don't see indian giving Connie, that would
    be vastly not cool
evile: Exactly. We are not doing this for [brother A], we are doing this for
Paulie, and what is best for him.
evile: Best for Paulie is a permanent home. Not 3 months here, 6
    months there, whatever, whatever.
    SkyeDS: completely agreed :|
    evile: *sigh*
SkyeDS: sineater called M's cell phone to say that his paperwork finally
    went through, so that's good
    evile: cool.
evile: Anyway, how was Ft. Hood?
SkyeDS: the only problem was that they put us too far away from the
water and the restrooms, and the only trees had poison ivy under
SkyeDS: otherwise it was quite nice.
SkyeDS: An intermediate rider took first over all, which is a $1000
breeding to a good TB stallion
SkyeDS: sonar0m took 2nd overall and got $40 which was cool
SkyeDS: they both beat every advanced rider there
    SkyeDS: sonar0m = beginner.
evile: poison ivy is ick. Congrats to sonar0m :) That is very cool!
SkyeDS: and I got to see Laura and Linda and families which is the
only reason I go to anything anyway, and Randy and Meghan brought
their horses, and a good time was had by all
evile: cool. glad you got to see your friends :)
SkyeDS: how was your weekend other than the paulie stuff/
SkyeDS: (I don't think I want to breed either of my girls to a TB
stallion anyway. I'd rather breed Mirage to an Egyptian and Jesse to
a Friesian if not another Morgan)
evile: What if the winner had been a stallion or gelding owner? That
seems like a rather presumptious prize.
SkyeDS: if it had been a stud/gelding it would have been a $50 TSC
    certificate
SkyeDS: kind of lopsided huh LOL
    evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: plus, the woman who won happens to be friends with the owner
    of the stallion
SkyeDS: and could breed to him freely whenever she wants ROFL
SkyeDS: but she is a lovely lady, with lovely horses, and she got me
qualified for the games, and was a lovely teacher, so I like her
    muchly.
SkyeDS: I saw Debbie this weekend!
SkyeDS: I did not recognize her with red hair, and her clothes on :P
    SkyeDS: (of Debbie and Joe)
SkyeDS: she was at the Irish Dragoon Pub in Killeen, we were there
eating dinner and watching Andrew and Marc (the Bards)
    evile: how fun :)
SkyeDS: I told her I thought she looked better in her negligee
    (without her clothes on) lol
evile: :) I'm sure she enjoyed that
SkyeDS: she got stood up by the same guy for the 2nd time
    evile: oh, good lord.
SkyeDS: and she seemed to know a great deal of the other SCA people
    there
evile: *nod* small town, lots of similar interests, I'm sure.
SkyeDS: so we all took turns keeping her company because she didn't
want to sit with us because she thought it was intruding (silly girl)
    evile: Yeah.
evile: I haven't seen her & Joe at a poly dinner in Austin in
forever. I was under the impression they'd found more people closer
to home so they didn't have time for us anymore.
SkyeDS: Joe has a new girlfriend and they go clubbing but I don't
    know wehre
SkyeDS: and Debbie did say that Austin is 1.5 hours away for them
    evile: *nod*
evile: I don't know if they're still coming in to town for GWNN or
Voyagers stuff, haven't been to any of that in awhile.
SkyeDS: you have more to do than any other seven people I know.
    evile: heh
evile: This past weekend was fun/crazy. Friday, I went to lunch
w/onyxlynxx, Terriblelynne, and thewordnerd, then thewordnerd ran around with me on various
pre-camping errands, then we went to Hippie Hollow & up to the Oasis
    for drinks after.
evile: Turns out that The Terrifying Claw lady was a friend of one of
the guys I went swimming & drinking with. OOPs. I didn't realize that
& said something nasty about her.
evile: Camping in Galveston was nice. Mostly cloudy & cool. The
vanagon behaved properly, did not break down anywhere along the way.
It was a good trip. I got a little pink, but not too bad.
SkyeDS: I haven't gone swimming all summer
    evile: wow!
    SkyeDS: how was TinTinNio?
SkyeDS: that's on my list of to do
    evile: yummy.
SkyeDS: I'm in search of replacements for Basil's and Spiazzo
SkyeDS: although the chef of Basil's is now with Vespaio and i
    haven't been there yet
evile: I never went to Basils & haven't been to Spiazzo, so I have no
    idea how to compare them.
SkyeDS: omg Basil's was so good
SkyeDS: and it was in an old house with dark hardwood floors and dark
red velvet portieres and little bitty secluded rooms and perfect wait
    service
SkyeDS: well worth dropping $50 per.
    evile: sounds like.
SkyeDS: Bellagio's is that good though, they're just further away.
Siena is close to Bellagio, but i haven't been there yet either, nor
    Tuscany
    SkyeDS: or Carmelo's on 5th
evile: I thought Tuscany had good atmosphere & i liked their wine
guy, but haven't been back since the first time. Inconvenient
    location/traffic/construction
evile: I replied to your comment in my lj with a mini-review of
    tintinnio
    http://www.livejournal.com/users/bramblekite/197231.html
SkyeDS: so if they bring Paulie they can drop him off at your place
and I can get him on way home from work?
SkyeDS: or should we make them come all the way to the Ranch?
evile: I am more than willing to be a drop off/pick-up point. [rubber pig]
did offer to bring the dog to Austin, so we at least know they'll go
that far. I worry that if they were made to go all the way to
Rockdale, [rubber pig] would pitch a fit and Paulie would go to the pound.
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: I always like going to your place
evile: We also have Uncle Bubba & Ursula in San Antonio who have said
they're more than willing to help, if needed. So, if there is some
kind of last-minute mishegoss and [brother A] & [rubber pig] won't drive the dog to
my house, we can ask Bubba to do it.
SkyeDS: I can get away with a lot around here but having Paulie in
the office wouldn't be one of them
SkyeDS: they get cranky every time I bring Arthur (which only happens
in very bad weather, ie tornados)
evile: *nod* I understand. With enough advance notice (ie: a day) I
can do whatever needs to be done, once [brother A] & y'all work out a plan.
SkyeDS: I thought they weren't speaking to [aunt L] anymore.
    SkyeDS: or you.
evile: Apparently they are allowed to call and ask for stuff, but
[aunt L] and I aren't allowed to make contact. Who knows. The rules
change according to what's convenient for [rubber pig].
evile: She is apparently a master of time, space & Reality.
    SkyeDS: I guess I shouldn't be surprised
    evile: nope.
SkyeDS: I think Paulie will be very happy with Connie's pack
    evile: me too.
SkyeDS: and there will be no fences to worry about, just 10 acres and
half a dozen other babies to play with
SkyeDS: and he can herd horses with Bear.
SkyeDS: Bear thinks my horses belong to him LOL
evile: I'm not sure what Paulie will think of horses. Probably be
terrified. That is his usual response to stuff, poor little guy.
    SkyeDS: well I wonder why.
    evile: *nod*
evile: [brother A] went through so much hell to get him shipped from New
Mexico to Austin, for nothing, apparently.
evile: He would probably have been happier to stay where he was born
    & raised.
SkyeDS: I had an even more brilliant thought about keeping those
cretins off my place when we got home last night
SkyeDS: we've still got all this big shit we can't just put in the
    dumpster
SkyeDS: pieces of tractor combine attachments, a 14 foot boat, etc.
SkyeDS: rather than fence across the drive way and post
SkyeDS: I'm going to put their trash across the driveway and post
SkyeDS: across a point in the driveway that's very strategic (where
we don't use the driveway except to get to the mail box, and I can
    leave a walking path
    evile: heh. perfect.
    SkyeDS: I thought so.
SkyeDS: and easier than fencing too.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: already called the Sheriff who is ready to come arrest them
    at any time.
SkyeDS: his response every time any of us call him is, you can shoot
them, or I can shoot them
    evile: oh, yay.
SkyeDS: I still maintain that this problem would be solved with
    kerosene/gas and matches
    evile: heh.
evile: that whole situation just sounds so frustrating.
SkyeDS: I'm afraid to do anything for fear of dead horses
SkyeDS: but I got so angry after the confrontation last weekend that
    I flat out told them
SkyeDS: if you ever do anything to hurt my horses I'll kill you
    SkyeDS: with my bare hands
    evile: scary!
SkyeDS: I'll call my boss the lawyer, tell him to call the Sheriff
and meet me down to teh jail house, and I'll be there as soon as I
got her done and took care of bidness.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and I would hope they could tell by expression and tone of
voice I was neither kidding nor exaggerating.
SkyeDS: I got this highly offended, we're Christians and we don't do
    things like that response
    evile: hm.
SkyeDS: they feed these dogs and treat them like pets
SkyeDS: but don't give them shots or restrain them
SkyeDS: and claim they're strays, whenever the law comes and says,
    look
SkyeDS: so, the law told us, they're strays, shoot them
evile: dear god. that's just awful.
SkyeDS: I told sineater I would be ok with him getting a BB gun
SkyeDS: but he wants a real gun
SkyeDS: I don't want to injure them, just change their behavior
    SkyeDS: he wants them dead
evile: BB does not do much do discourage a larger animal.
SkyeDS: well, I don't know how good of a shot he is
SkyeDS: he goes shooting with my dad on VERY rare occasions, they
won't let me go with, so I have no clue
evile: BB does not even make noise. Maybe better to get something
that makes noise & might scare them.
    SkyeDS: yes, but thing is
SkyeDS: if you use a real firearm, you have to be a good enough aim
to hurt them, without killing them
SkyeDS: I can do that, but I don't know if sineater can
    SkyeDS: without being point blank
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: now if he does it point blank, and that doesn't make him
    squeamish, go for it
SkyeDS: but most people really don't have the heart to shoot point
blank when it comes down to it.
SkyeDS: I had to shoot my first horse point blank, and I never want
    to do it again.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and I know what sineater wants to do is the 3 S's. Shoot,
    shovel, shut up.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: we went over there and offered them cash money after they
said they would like to sell
SkyeDS: and then they said well we don't want to sell it to YOU
SkyeDS: ....well why did you tell us yesterday to make you an offer...
    evile: bizarre.
SkyeDS: I'll do what I did last time
SkyeDS: wait for them to default and buy it out from beneath them
SkyeDS: for half what they're asking for it
    evile: there ya go.
SkyeDS: and if their shit isn't off it the minute the ink dries
SkyeDS: I"m having teh biggest ass bonfire you've ever seen in your
    life
    evile: hee.
SkyeDS: oops, I'm sorry, I didn't realize there was anyone in that
    there trailer.
    evile: oh dear!! *giggle* oopsie!
    SkyeDS: <looks innocent> (a)
SkyeDS: my friend Christine went up and put Marc's tip inside the
waist of his kilt, stripper style
SkyeDS: and he looks straight at me like it was my idea
    evile: heh.
    SkyeDS: hmph
evile: He's awfully pretty, he should be used to such by now.
SkyeDS: and he just had a breakup recently didn't he?
    evile: Yup. :(
SkyeDS: I need to find someone who wants to barter garbmaking for
    horseback lessons.
SkyeDS: I know someone who would, but she doesn't listen to me
SkyeDS: and then loudly blames Jesse and then me every time she
    embarasses herself in a crowd.
    evile: bizarre.
    SkyeDS: time to go home?
evile: yup. I'm exhausted, but at least the day went quickly :)
evile: *hugs* take care of you.
SkyeDS: hugs, wind to your wings bella :)
