    evile: Mornin!
SkyeDS: good mornin, good mornin :)
evile: It may turn out to be a good day after all.
SkyeDS: I would hope so. What's up?
evile: A very trying week. Boss lady imposed mandatory OT, I've been
sicker than a dog with allegy crap, D's hub hit her & I thought I was
going to have to mastermind a rescue operation, J-Law's new guy was
suddenly out of pocket for no reason (turns out he had a very close
friend die)...yeah, that kind of week.
SkyeDS: that is way not cool. <scowling darkly>
    evile: Very much so.
    SkyeDS: phyllis died
SkyeDS: went to her funeral last weekend
    evile: OMG, that sucks :(
evile: I'm so sorry for her family :(
SkyeDS: they bought a beautiful little place in Vidor, got a great
deal on it, and were very happy
    SkyeDS: for four weeks.
evile: wow. That's just too sad.
SkyeDS: and this is the second year in a row I've lost a friend in
    Jan/Feb.
SkyeDS: you might not want to be friends anymore.
evile: nah, I'm family, so I'm immune :P
    SkyeDS: is D ok?
evile: Yes. She was more angry at the way L was talking to 'P
before the incident than about him hittin gher.
evile: She was doing Yoga, P was doing homework, and L had
just finished putting a coat of sealer on a pieceof furniture they
    were restoring.
SkyeDS: nods. as long as it doesn't become a habit.
evile: 'P wanted help checking her work, D asked L to help
her, L went over and instead of checking her math, he went to her
reading, which is a sore topic with him. 'P has a reading
problem, not dyslexia, but something similar, and they have real
    problems overcoming her difficulty.
SkyeDS: I remember her as being a very bright child
SkyeDS: bright children are not rose gardens
evile: So L started calling her stupid and telling her even
goldfish have more memory than she has, and D got up and said "We
need to have a talk". They went into the computer room, D closed the
door and said "If I have to be the only one helping her with her
work, that's the way it will be. You don't name-call and m ake fun of
her" and L got red-faced angry, out of control, and smacked her.
D does not remember the hit, but had a sore jaw & neck afterwards.
She blocked it from her mind.
SkyeDS: please tell me that this was an aberration.
evile: L went and turned himself into the MP immediately. The
Military has not yet decided what to do with him, but they're both in
counselling and he is living in the barracks.
SkyeDS: perhaps that is the best that could come from...?
evile: Absolutely! D says everyone's reaction was "L!?!? He would
NEVER do a thing like that!"
    SkyeDS: nods.
SkyeDS: sounds like something else is going on.
evile: She does not want him home for a few months, at the least.
She says that he may not have been properly debriefed from his
service in Iraq--there was only 3 weeks between the time he got back
from Iraq & the time they got to Georgia
    SkyeDS: was wondering about that.
evile: He has also been on funeral detail ever since they got back to
the States. That has _got_ to be a hard thing to do every day, all
    day.
    SkyeDS: nods
    SkyeDS: I tell you
SkyeDS: I would rather have a big man whale on me than Kelly, Dee or
Karen (SCA) when they are defending their children.
evile: Exactly. D told the social worker that she did not feel L
was a threat, but she felt so angry with him that she didn't trust
herself to deal with him if he came home.
evile: She wants any near-future meetings with him to be supervised
and him to be escorted in & out of the house if he needs to come
    home to get anything.
evile: it's good that the military has those resources & that they're
    finally taking domestic violence seriously.
SkyeDS: "My mama loves me. You may think she loves you but she loves
me best. You'd better believe it. Fuck with me and see what happens
to you." ~~ Mirage, Arthur & Jesse quote.
    evile: yuppers.
evile: I am *so* glad D didn't hit him back. She could have flattened
    him easily :)
SkyeDS: I don't know enough about the military to know how they
    handle domestic violence
SkyeDS: in general in the south though, in small towns, police to
this day refuse to deal with domestic problems
SkyeDS: even when there are more restraining orders than underwear
evile: After an incident in Ft. Bragg which led to woman being beaten
to death, the military takes it very seriously indeed.
SkyeDS: I can't remember how many times I had to tell Hooks, Nash,
DeKalb type police that look, assault & battery is against the law
    SkyeDS: period
    SkyeDS: as is rape
SkyeDS: nevermind that he violated a restraining order
evile: If they want to make an example, they will discharge him. If
not, he may be demoted or spend some time in military jail.
SkyeDS: well gollygee whillikers, I reckon they must have done just
    changed that there rape law
SkyeDS: um, no, it's been the same since 1850.
SkyeDS: discharge would be bad, no?
evile: D says she is glad not to be dealing with local law
enforcement--very backwards folks in GA, apparently. She is not sure
how they'd react to a black pagan woman filing any kind of complaint.
SkyeDS: I don't know what L looks like
evile: She says she gets proselytized every time she goes to Kinko's
    to make copies.
SkyeDS: but I believe D could flatten a mack truck if pushed too far
SkyeDS: little brother & family live in Atlanta. stuff going on
there, I'm not sure what, but I have suspicions. nobody tells me
    anything of course.
evile: L is native american/polynesian of some kind. Thin, slight
build, very light-skinned cafe-au-lait, black hair & dark eyes.
SkyeDS: I think they're about to send him to a base in California
SkyeDS: sounds very pretty. and very fragile.
evile: that'll be interesting, the CA thing.
SkyeDS: if I remember correctly, his running off to CA for unstated
nefarious purposes was part of the problem, so yeah.
    evile: yecch.
SkyeDS: I told Mom that I would rearrange pastures and build a house
when she needed me to take care of her. And if she doesn't want to
live in a doublewide (it looks like a home on the inside, but like a
doublewide on the outside and there isn't much I can do about that),
then there are nice places in Rockdale, cheap, and 6 miles away.
SkyeDS: she sounded surprised that I would want her to come live with
    me.
    evile: Seems reasonable.
SkyeDS: and I'm like ok. look. you didn't move to dierks, you moved
    gramma
SkyeDS: david didn't move to austin, phyllis moved to vidor
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: that's the way it works
SkyeDS: I guess she thought I would dump her ina home or who knows
    what she thought
SkyeDS: don't know what we'll do if we have multiple sets of
parentals to take care of though.
evile: Yeah. It's a scary thought
SkyeDS: 11 acres is enough for three homes certainly but it takes
    away pastures.
SkyeDS: MIL might be an issue eventually.
evile: Our dinner with Ocious Uncle Bubba, his wife, Brother A, Rubber_pig &
    Kids at L&Bs got cancelled.
SkyeDS: but I can't see K/mom and stepdad wanting to be here.
    evile: oDious.
evile: I don't know that Mom & stepdad have thought about it yet. Mom
    really doesn't like Texas.
SkyeDS: I don't think either one of them would like living an hour
    away from urban hubs.
SkyeDS: although we are in the midst of two triangles -
    Austin/Waco/College STation and then Dallas/SAn Antonio/Houston
SkyeDS: which I hope will be good for business but I digress
evile: um, honey, Mom lives in bumfuck Montana. And before that she
lived in bumfuck New Mexico. And Greencastle isn't exactly Downtown,
    either.
SkyeDS: I know, but, tis not bumfuck texas
SkyeDS: and where you're willing to go for work and where you want to
    retire aren't always same thing
evile: The issue for Mom is the weather. She just can't take the heat
    anymore.
SkyeDS: montana would be a nice place to retire
SkyeDS: but I was thinking about time when would need caretaking.
evile: If you like -8F winters, sure.
SkyeDS: and that is problematic, if the caretakers are all in Texas.
    evile: I'm retiring to Cozumel.
SkyeDS: I don't like cold at all. Unless I"m inside, with nothing to
do, a fire going (the fireplace had her maiden voyage, yay), good
    movie/book/music/food
evile: Well, I am done with my 3 hrs of OT for today, so I'm going to
hit the ground running. Mall-rat, Ulta, like that.
evile: I'm dyeing my hair boring basic brown again.
SkyeDS: think I'll get dressed and take teh girls to the home park
SkyeDS: ask princess if she wants to go riding
evile: which is your 'home' park these days?
SkyeDS: trip to SA tomorrow for SM means no trip to BD today
    evile: aha, OK.
SkyeDS: sorry, meant rockdale city park
evile: I'm going to do lunch w/Rio before I pop in on the HFS doings.
SkyeDS: although I'm getting involved in the newly forming saddle
    club here in town
    evile: very cool.
SkyeDS: and we're going to try to do stuff at the fair & rodeo park
SkyeDS: but that's a long story
SkyeDS: hopefully good for business too
evile: Hope so! that's very cool.
SkyeDS: I didn't realize you were at work
    SkyeDS: yuck.
evile: yup. Boss lady decided mandatory OT was a good thing. I'll
take the money but bedamned if I do anything above & beyond quota
SkyeDS: there are some good things about being an IC
SkyeDS: I define my own hours and no big if I need time off (for all
    my runnings around)
evile: yup. It's harder work, to be sure, but you see the benefits
and rewards of your work when you're done.
SkyeDS: and, I am not an employee for tax purposes so they have no
reason to write off my horse business as a hobby
SkyeDS: which the IRS loves to do to drs and lawyers in the horse
    bidness
    evile: lovely.
    SkyeDS: well
SkyeDS: see doctors and lawyers get hroses for their kids
SkyeDS: and then decide if they call it a business they can write it
    all off
SkyeDS: so you have to make a profit 2 out of every 7 years
evile: so the IRS is right to be paranoid & ugly
SkyeDS: in some cases they are yes
SkyeDS: but they are overzealous about it
evile: Well, I need to get gone. Go play. See ya tomorrow :)
SkyeDS: they want to do it to everyone who has income from more than
    one place
    SkyeDS: ciao! :)
    evile: *hugs!*
evile: talk to ya more tomorrow :)
    evile: *hugs!*
SkyeDS: going to San Antone tomorrow
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: see you tomorrow then :)
