    evile: hey :)
    SkyeDS: hola :)
SkyeDS: will have to brb, was on my way into the boss's office
    evile: OK
    SkyeDS: bk
evile: nice visit with the boss?
    SkyeDS: productive
    evile: good :)
SkyeDS: I think I'm doing ok so far, fingers crossed
    evile: me too. (fingers crossed)
SkyeDS: how did last night go?
evile: It was pretty good. Sunshine flaked. Ladydreamtime flaked (or was
unable to get a reservation. whatever, she did not show), but 'Neon'
was nice, and seemed to understand the whole "this is not a date"
concept. The plays were varied. Terri's was great, of course.
SkyeDS: am glad that all's well that ended well
evile: In the space of maybe 10 minutes on stage, Terri managed to
create 3 very distinct characters. She is a wonderful performer.
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: My friend Stephanie was there, she's going to be taking drum
lessons from Rick (Z Helene's husband) and performing at the
    bellydance shows.
evile: Met Terri's lady-squeeze, a very lovely woman. And another of
her friends, a girl named Jennifer who was just heartbreakingly
    lovely.
SkyeDS: <envious sigh at heartbreakingly lovely>
evile: porcelain skin, light red curly hair...just beautiful. *sigh*
evile: It's rare to meet someone with natural red hair who isn't
either terribly freckled or very prone to acne. Jennifer was just
    flawless. Peaches & cream.
evile: I don't know her orientation, but Stephanie was quite smitten
as well. So that would be cool if they dated :) --meddling,
matchmaking me... ti's a bad habit!--
    SkyeDS: tis your gem side
evile: I'd like to see Stephanie with a nice girl.
SkyeDS: I had a friend named Stephanie that worked at UT. Was
Bipolar and had an ADHD daughter Melissandra. Remind me to tell you
story if I haven't already, later
evile: She brought a date to the D'ween party, but they broke up
    after New Years :(
evile: I think I've heard about Melissandra. Sad story.
evile: I don't necessarily think I could do better, but CPS just
seems like a giant mess to me.
SkyeDS: I only knew one worthwhile CPS employee and she died
evile: I had a coworker here who came from CPS. Horror stories. She
was smart enough to move on quickly, went to HR somewhere else.
evile: I don't have kids, and I don't really like them much, but I
can't imagine abusing them. Even to a 'child hater' like me, that's
    so wrong!
evile: James & Joanna had a roommate who had a 5 year old removed
from their home by CPS. And of course the first thing she does after
having her kid taken away and her parental rights dissolved by the
    court--gets knocked up again!
    SkyeDS: that's usually the way
evile: I think certain women only like babies & don't have much use
for kids once they become small people. They get off on being needed
    so completely.
    SkyeDS: babies are cute
    SkyeDS: teenagers aren't
SkyeDS: universally in the animal kingdom
evile: It's bad enough when people discard half grown puppies and
cats, but just...wrong to think of them doing that to their own flesh
& blood. People like that just need killin'
SkyeDS: Uncle Mark & Aunt Mimi adopted two abandoned kids, ages 8 and
    11
evile: That's a tough job. Good for them.
SkyeDS: guess it took more than 6 months of pregnancy to figure out
    someone didn't want them
    SkyeDS: twice
SkyeDS: I usually don't even take 6 months to make up my mind, and
    I'm notoriously indecisive
    evile: Too sad
evile: X was all up in arms against Joanna for 'letting' this
roommate stay and for being encouraging of the roommates new guy &
new pregnancy..but what the hell else are you going to say to someone
when they share 'good news' of a new baby on the way? no matter HOW
    you feel about it.
SkyeDS: x likes to be up in arms generally methinks
evile: I didn't think she needed to oops her husband for #3, and then #3
turned out borderline Autistic/LD. Not to mention her almost dying of
diabetes during the pregnancy. But it was all worth it.Of course.
And she would have strangled me for suggesting otherwise.
    SkyeDS: zactly
evile: Oh well. Joanna's roommate situation would not have been worth
ditching my freindship with her, but to each their own.
SkyeDS: once I got over the livid anger at being accused of abusing
    my horses
SkyeDS: I was amused on several points
SkyeDS: one, the accuser doesn't know squat about horses, much less
    abuse of them
SkyeDS: and two, I'm amazed that CPS lets her keep the kids she's
got, after taking the first TWO away from her
evile: a Depo Provera dart gun should be required equipment to work
    for CPS
    SkyeDS: lol
SkyeDS: you know my departed CPS friend had to take 9 crackbabies
    away from the same mother
SkyeDS: can you imagine how much that costs the taxpayers, as well as
whomever adopts/fosters those poor kids no telling how long they
    might live?
    evile: very sad.
evile: There's a private organization called "project prevention"
that pays for sterilization procedures to addicts. The addicts
volunteer for the service, it's not forced on anyone, just presented
as an option. I think that's way cool.
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: wonder how many use it
evile: If drugs were ever to be legalized, I would want sterilization
    for addicts to be mandatory.
SkyeDS: I think in theory there is much to be said for legalization
    of some drugs
SkyeDS: but I don't know really how feasible it would be to put it
    into practice
SkyeDS: someone finally died of marijuana poisoning, in the UK
    evile: bizarre.
SkyeDS: of course you can die from tylenol poisoning too, if you take
    too much
    evile: true.
evile: Sunday is supposed to be pleasant. I may try and get out to
San Gabriel Park for a while.
    SkyeDS: supposed to rain sat
SkyeDS: sineater has something to do
SkyeDS: I have Def Driv till 3:30
SkyeDS: and Kathleen wanted to have a minicourt
evile: Yeah, Rain Saturday, Clear Sunday.
SkyeDS: but she doesn't usually get there till after 5 anyway
evile: The days are getting longer, so that almost works.
SkyeDS: can make the minicourt but not with the horse
evile: Might make it easier to sit & visit if you didn't have 'the
    kids' with you :)
SkyeDS: don't want to take the horses if it's raining anyway, and
sineater has something in town at 9 am
SkyeDS: don't want the horses sitting in the trailer in the rain from
    9 until 2
    evile: exactly.
evile: At one point you said you preferred Barad Duin because to that
group you were more than just 'the lady with the horses &
bird'...they like you for yourself. So I am sure it wouldn't be a bad
    thing to come by yourself.
SkyeDS: truthfully not sure how much of a court there will even be in
    the rain
evile: And then you might be free afterwards to hit the Z Helene
bellydance show at 8 on Saturday evening with me :)
evile: (no pressure. just a suggestion.)
    SkyeDS: yep. if not's raining
evile: the show isn't at cafe mundi, its indoors.
    SkyeDS: cool, where at?
evile: Austin Yoga, 1122 South Lamar, the only crap thing is its $10
    to get in.
    SkyeDS: wow
evile: That's pretty much the going rate for theatre in this town.
Vortex often charges $15-20. But, when you're used to seeing the show
    for free, yeah.
    evile: http://www.zhelene.com/Seasonalshow.html
SkyeDS: if I were making money elsewhere, don't know as I'd even do
free at cafe mundi or anywhere else
SkyeDS: but then I do a lot for free that would make money
evile: They seem to do pretty well tip-wise at cafe mundi.
evile: I have occasionally tipped as much as $20 there.
SkyeDS: when I first started making money in txka to play, I played
for free for the people who gave me the exposure that got me the
paying gigs in the first place
evile: That's actually pretty sound business practice.
evile: Stephanie says they might not go back to Cafe Mundi when the
weather gets nice again. Some problem with management. I suspect the
owners got tired of the unsupervised children tearing up the garden.
SkyeDS: can't say as I blame them, if that's what's happening
evile: One thing I'll never understand about hippie/pagan parents--
how they can proclaim such love for the planet and 1)breed
indiscriminately and 2) let spawn tear up nature willy-nilly
    SkyeDS: me neither
evile: don't even get me started on disposable diapers. eugh.
SkyeDS: I couldn't wear them, I was allergic
evile: But I'm totally speculating on the cause of the break with
Cafe Mundi. I know it's come up in the past more than once and it's
the only real problem I can think of, other than the fact that the
shows have to be outside because indoors is too small.
SkyeDS: not pleasant to do anything at night right now, not on a
regular basis (since the weather is harldy cooperative on a regular
    basis)
evile: yeah. I had a nice fire laid in the fire ring all ready to go
for some chilly evening and it rained. :(
evile: Sunday night, we did have a fire inside. That was nice. But
I'll have to wait for the wood to dry outside before I can bring more
    in for another :P
SkyeDS: after more than a year I have yet to do ritual outside where
I've made a circle in front of my arbor
evile: Nature is uncooperative at times :)
SkyeDS: it's been cooperative enough, I just haven't done it for one
    reason and another, every month
SkyeDS: usually because I'm sick and/or tired
evile: New and full moons are big energy drains on me.
SkyeDS: not supposed to do circle when on period
SkyeDS: does not help that more often than not period = full moon
SkyeDS: because i was born on a dark moon
    evile: Bizarre.
SkyeDS: and ovulate on a dark moon
    SkyeDS: even on pills
    evile: wierd.
evile: I don't do any of that, so I often wonder if my hypermanic new
moon and suicidally depressed full moon thing is my body trying to
have some kind of cycle, anyway.
    SkyeDS: sounds like
evile: Neither frame of mind is much conducive to spiritual exercises
    SkyeDS: nope
evile: Oh well. I do what I can when I can and it works out OK.
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: And since starting St. John's Wort, the highs & lows aren't as
bad. Still there, but not as bad.
SkyeDS: have heard good things bout SJW
SkyeDS: particularly if taken with Bcomplex
evile: B vitamins do goofy things to me. I hope I'm getting enough
    through diet
SkyeDS: sjw makes you need more, dr told sineater
SkyeDS: when sineater complained about sjw and his memory loss
evile: My friend Apple says its seasonal--the more sunlight you get,
    the less SJW you need.
    SkyeDS: could be
SkyeDS: and vitamins are in sunlight
evile: She's been taking it for a few years, takes 300 mg 3x a day in
summer, and then adds about 150 mg in the winter. Seems to work out
for her. it's too bad that US medicine isn't much interested in non-
proprietary medications, so you can't usually get a Dr. to help you
    with your dosages.
SkyeDS: try figuring out interactions between drugs and herbs
SkyeDS: like me trying to figure out if I can take feverfew on birth
    control
SkyeDS: or Migrahealth (otc, feverfew and magnesium)
evile: Jaime got homicidal taking antidepressants & some herbal thing
at the same time. That was scary.
SkyeDS: got to be very careful with SJW and other stuff, I know
evile: They freaked at my Essure surgery because I was on SJW.
Apparently had to adjust the anesthesia
evile: I lived. So apparently everything worked out :P
    SkyeDS: geez
evile: yeah. I dont know what the big deal was. And none of my online
research has given me any clues. Oh well.
SkyeDS: they didn't tell you when you asked?
evile: nope. just said something about it would have been 'bad' if I
hadn't told them I was taking SJW.
SkyeDS: I don't hang with that not telling me shit when I ask for
    answers
evile: I don't tend to be as pushy as I should be when I'm naked and
full of needles. the whole dr/patient situation puts me into a pretty
passive & obedient frame of mind unless I work myself up into a fuss
    before getting to the office.
SkyeDS: wasn't sure when they told you
SkyeDS: what a time to tell you when you're already full of needles
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: seems they should have asked that, like, I don't know, earlier
SkyeDS: and then been in position to tell you all about it
    SkyeDS: :-/
evile: Well, it was on my chart for my regular dr, I am on depo, a
multivitamin, 1600 mg calcium, and 300 mg SJW 3x a day. If the
records had been sent and read, they would have known in advance.
    SkyeDS: ya think?
evile: But it was more like: get naked, get IV, one last check over
the chart "Okay, you don't take any pills, you're not on anything
now, no aspirin last night, bla bla?" and I'm like 'No, I take a
depo, and also a daily multivitiman, calcium & SJW" and then the
    freak out.
evile: So I'm glad they asked, even though there wasn't anything on
    the chart.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: I am sure tylenol or aspirin the night before the surgery
would have been much more life threatening than SJW. But my pre-op
instructions TOLD me not to take those. :)
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: the SJW would not have been out of my system either way. Oh
    well.
    SkyeDS: yep
evile: I lived :P No brain damage that I can tell :)
    SkyeDS: lol
evile: I would probably be happier if I was a lot stupider, anyway.
SkyeDS: is that why stupid people are deliberately stupid?
    SkyeDS: they're happier?
evile: There's a difference between disability and wilful ignorance.
I wasn't speaking of wilful ignorance.
evile: A lot of times, playing stupid is very helpful. and I finally
got wise and added that one to my arsenal.
evile: But I do think I'd be happier if I didn't see through people
so clearly, and if my work was actually a challenge instead of
boring, and if I didn't see cause & effect where normal people just
    see 'shit happens'
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: right now I am dealing with stupidity of associate lawyer
    SkyeDS: he is a moron
SkyeDS: and gets paid more than me
SkyeDS: and has a permanent job w/ perks
    evile: Don't you hate that?
SkyeDS: with a purple f'ing passion
evile: It doesn't seem to be any good qualities that actually get
    people ahead in life.
evile: Ideally, hard work, experience, knowledge, honesty,
inteligence & such would do something positive for a person's career
    & life.
evile: But all the people in charge I've ever met were snivelling
little suckups, backstabbing ratbastards, and goodlooking morons.
SkyeDS: exactly what "Office Space" was about
SkyeDS: funny in a sad sickening way
    SkyeDS: "Daria" too, tangentially
evile: I can't watch that movie on a weeknight
SkyeDS: makes you want to quit?
    evile: yup.
    SkyeDS: mpds
    SkyeDS: err nods
evile: the 'good' news is that it wouldn't be any better anywhere
else. corporate culture is sick from top to bottom, inside & out.
    Bureaucrazy isn't any better.
    SkyeDS: nope
    evile: *sigh*
evile: The American Dream is such a big lie.
evile: If you weren't interested in the bellydance show, Pace is
having a party Saturday night. Another possible in the otherwise
bummer state of being horseless :)
    SkyeDS: true :)
SkyeDS: perhaps we have lost the shot at the American dReam because
so many Americans gave up on it
SkyeDS: because they wanted bread and circuses and welfare and
    instant gratification and disposable everything
evile: yup. If it wasn't so cold, I think I'd rather live in Norway.
SkyeDS: what happens if it collapses while we're alive
SkyeDS: do we live long enough to see it get better?
evile: I am hoping to die quickly & painlessly in the event of
cataclysm. Not into the whole survivor thing
SkyeDS: I don't want to survive if I can't keep the children alive
evile: You might need to eat 'em.
    SkyeDS: rather die first
evile: if it was a choice between letting mirage starve to death and
    feeding Kelly's kids?
SkyeDS: hard to say without being at that juncture
SkyeDS: but came down to it, my kids are my problem and hers are hers
evile: Personally. I'd rather just pass on quietly at the outset
rather than have to make any of those tough choices.
SkyeDS: what one of my favorite teachers said, when nuclear war was a
more imminent threat. put an x on my house, hit me first
    evile: agreed
evile: My luck, I'll be in MT visiting my mom when the big bombs come
and I'll end up being healthy & living. Then I'll feel obligated to
go on living & trying to help fix stuff. Yucko.
SkyeDS: Amberlyn and I talked briefly about the streghe eschatology
    and prophecies
    evile: Interesting stuff, I'm sure.
SkyeDS: we agreed that we don't want to be the next Prophet, or
around to handle the Xian Armageddon the next Prophet will have to go
    through
SkyeDS: although being an aquarian she's ideally suited for the job
    (and I'm emphatically NOT)
evile: I can't wait for the Xtians to ruin this world and throw a big
fat babyish temper tantrum and have God tell them : The Jews were
right. Your mission was to heal the earth, not destroy it.
evile: No pretty new world for you!
SkyeDS: love that joke about heaven
SkyeDS: "shhhh they think they're the only ones here"
    evile: heh.
evile: I've taken enough history to know that the world has been on
the brink of 'ending' for thousands of years. You've got Babylonian
writers lamenting about many of the same things we currently
experience: children showing no respect for elders, irresponsible
parenting, people losing sight of the greater good and becoming
selfish and evil, surely the end is at hand. This being written 1500
BC seems to show that people just suck, always have & always will.
SkyeDS: yes, but empires always fall and people die when that happens
evile: I'm looking forward to the next big end date, just to see what
    happens. 2012 :)
SkyeDS: where does that date come from
evile: Maya or Aztecs not sure which.
evile: Then again, the Harmonic Convergence from the same calendar
was a pretty big bust. The newagers made some $ off it, but that's
    about it.
evile: I think 42 would be an ideal age to exit the earth,
    personally. :)
SkyeDS: I heard them talk about it, but haven't seen anything happen
evile: There's always a good explanation when things don't happen as
    predicted. I find it amusing.
evile: I will probably try and get to both Z Helene's show and Pace's
party Saturday evening. Pease Park will depend on the weather.
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: I don't think I want to go to court if it's raining
SkyeDS: I may stop by on my way elsewhere and suggest to them that we
go to a restaurant if they want to hold court. If not...
SkyeDS: I did HFS In the rain last year and stayed sick too damn much
    evile: not worth it.
evile: I think the back room of la madeline is marvelously
atmospheric. Got hot during the GWNN munch, too many people. But
would make a nice HFS place, assuming it was available.
SkyeDS: why does gwnn go somewhere that's too small
evile: I think it's transitional. They were at Le Privilege when I
started going last year, which was Ok size, then moved to Elysium,
also good sized, and then La Mad. Which apparently used to be
their "munch" meeting place a few years ago.
    SkyeDS: what happened to Elys
evile: I was confused the first time I went because it was called
a 'munch' and yet it was at a bar/club where there was nothing
    to 'munch'.
evile: I am not sure what happened with elysium. Probably something
political, or maybe a liability issue with under 21 ? I duno
evile: You never know how big the turnout is going to be for a munch,
either. It tends to fluctuate quite a bit. More on the saturday
before a play party, not as many in the months with no play party.
Which is why I think they started trying to get people to host after-
    munch parties during non-party months
SkyeDS: I keep hearing love/hate stuff about Madeleine
SkyeDS: people either love it or hate it
evile: I love the food, love the atmosphere. Occasionally hate the
service. But thats about it. Plus the GWNN munch was too crowded &
warm, but that is not the fault of La Mad. management.
evile: I don't know what it takes to reserve the back room, but if I
had Barad Duin's monarch's ear, I would suggest looking into it since
the weather is so iffy for Sat.
SkyeDS: the new monarch is constantly broke
SkyeDS: so I would bet Mad is out
SkyeDS: because I keep suggesting salt lick for court/feast and keep
    getting told too expensive
    evile: bummer.
evile: Salt Lick is fairly expensive, plus the drive out is a bit
    daunting.
SkyeDS: I think salt lick would be great
SkyeDS: and they're out in the country
SkyeDS: we could probably even have battle games there
SkyeDS: one day event like at midreign
evile: I imagine salt lick management would not care to have anyone
sparring on their property. but the rest of it, yes.
    evile: brb, potty break.
    evile: back :)
    SkyeDS: wb
evile: the only diff between La M. and Salt Lick is that when you
get 'family style' at salt lick, EVERYONE at the table has to get it.
So there isn't any way to keep one person's costs lower. La Mad, you
could theoretically just get coffee or soup.
SkyeDS: yes but that requires reasoning with the populace
evile: Salt Lick doens't take plastic, either. But on the plus side
    it's BYOB
SkyeDS: and at SL if you don't like what the table is going to do,
    sit at another table
evile: And get a separate tab, which ... can be problematic if you
didn't ask to be seated that way at the outset.
SkyeDS: true, although if the kingdom did a feast fee and paid for it.
SkyeDS: could even offer to do a Dinner Theater like the ren
    restaurants in dallas, etc
evile: Salt Lick is popular enough and makes enough money doing
business as-is that they aren't really motivated to make any deals or
    give anyone special treatment.
SkyeDS: wouldn't hurt to ask them
SkyeDS: but I still think that Mad would get the same response for
the same reason as far as suggesting it
evile: I'm sure you could ask, but I don't see them being too
    flexible on much.
evile: I don't know if LM requires any $ to reserve the back room, or
a guarantee of a certain # of people, or what. At least its' in town
    & close to Pease park.
SkyeDS: mimi would throw a fit regardless because of Andy's dietary
    restrictions
evile: Oh yeah. I don't think there's such a thing as 'no fat' French
    food.
    SkyeDS: zactly
    SkyeDS: and Kathleen is diabetic
SkyeDS: although that didn't stop her from eating at Chuy's last week
evile: I don't think you'd have much trouble finding diabetic-
    friendly items at LM.
evile: Might suck to skip bread, pasta & the dessert display, but it
    could be done.
evile: I once went to LM for poly dinner & there were Weight Watchers
ladies in front of me. They were happily chatting away
about 'exchanges' and whatnot. Seemed to be finding plenty of edibles.
SkyeDS: that's a lot of arguing I'd have to do though
SkyeDS: on an issue that I really don't care to invest that kind of
    effort into
SkyeDS: not my fault if BD has no taste or sense of ambience
evile: yeah. teaching pigs to sing, bla bla.
evile: In the good ol' days of disposable income, I would've just
dragged as many people as I could fit in my car to LM and said "eat!"
evile: But I don't do that anymore.
evile: If I knew any HFSers that well, I might do that on a 1-on-1
basis, but not treat a whole group.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: oh well, they can have their little mudpit gathering if they
want, but I won't feel obligated to either attend or stay if it's
yucky out. And you have my #'s so you can call me if you want company
    after drivers ed thingy.
SkyeDS: my one day off this week
SkyeDS: although w/ DD doesn't even make it off
evile: yuck. Oh well, might as well make the most of it & enjoy it
    however you can :)
evile: If you can fit me in, fine, if not, no biggie :)
SkyeDS: were you going to drandmir sunday if it's nice? I done forgot
    lol
evile: Yup. Assuming it's warm-ish and sunny
    SkyeDS: brb

SkyeDS: now I get to call our lead counsel in NYC...whose associate's
    fuckups I get to fix
    evile: oh boy. Sounds fun.
SkyeDS: and talk to his paralegal who hopefully is less dumb than he
    is
SkyeDS: don't know if I'll be back before you leave, so if not <HUGS>
    and safe journey home.
evile: *hugs* See ya Saturday :)
SkyeDS: [Auto Response] I am currently away from the computer.
