Today's thought from Hazelden is:

Passion

"This week, I went scuba diving," a man told me. "Hadn't done it for years. I forgot how much doing something I love, even for one afternoon, can change my entire outlook on life."

It's easy to tell ourselves we can't have what we want and can't do what we want. And sometimes, we can't. But once in a while, even for an afternoon, it is helpful to treat yourself.

How long has it been since you did something you loved? Are you willing to be open to what excites and inspires you? If you can't do what you love, can you find passion in what you are doing?

    Jul. 11, 2005

evile: hey :) how was your weekend?
SkyeDS: it went. Travis came over Saturday, so nothing productive
got done, but we did watch movies, the boys played a D&D boardgame
and we ate popcorn and watermelon. Sunday was Drandmir.
SkyeDS: I still want to go swimming/tubing (next weekend is out,
    family reunion)
evile: *nod* sounds like a nice laid back time.
    SkyeDS: how was da toobin?
    evile: OK. Not great.
SkyeDS: Ron White's routine about toobin is funny (I think anyway)
evile: *shrug* I don't think I've heard it.
SkyeDS: I won't bother to try to recreate it, I'd just ruin it.
    evile: OK.
    SkyeDS: I don't recount jokes well :|
    evile: me neither.
evile: The person I wanted to come tubing punked out, and a person I
really didn't want to see decided to brave the hangover and come out
    anyway.
evile: Nobody likes being ditched, but being ditched + lied to isn't
    really any better, IMHO.
SkyeDS: I really don't understand why people lie. I understand
wanting to keep ass out of sling, but lying always, always puts ass
    into sling even further
SkyeDS: and I seldom use the word always.
evile: I am very very smart. and fairly intuitive. So...yeah, lying
does not work on me too terribly often.
SkyeDS: I'm not an advocate of telling everyone everything you know
    all the time, mind you
    evile: no.
SkyeDS: I do believe in the little courtesies that make civilized
    discourse possible
evile: But a simple ditch "Hey, I'm not going" is far less hurtful
than "hey I'm not going [false reasons here]"
    SkyeDS: certainly
SkyeDS: and if someone doesn't accept a simple "hey I'm not going"
and want to discuss "can't" v "won't" and "why" then they get what
    they asked for
evile: I really dont' know what I'm doing wrong with my friendships.
    People keep lying to me.
SkyeDS: don't ask questions you're not sure you want answers to
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: as an example, because it's the first thing that crossed my
    mind
evile: And I am a curious thing, but I can (and DO) accept "I'm
sorry, I dont' want to discuss it with you" or "it's none of your
    business"
SkyeDS: Spherion wanted sineater to go up north remember?
SkyeDS: and I told him, stick to the truth
SkyeDS: until you get the offer in writing and travel expenses up
    front, the answer is no
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: so here came the day that they had, without honoring that,
bought him plane tickets and expected him at the airport, and instead
of saying, I told you it wasn't going to work like that
SkyeDS: he told them he was in t he hospital with me because I'd
    been hit
SkyeDS: so they call Hugh to find out if this is true
SkyeDS: and I walk in t he door one morning and Hugh's all like WTF?
SkyeDS: how do I explain to Hugh that sineater prefers to get himself out
    of things with elaborate lies?
    evile: not good.
SkyeDS: without making sineater look bad?
evile: sineater's behavior makes sineater look bad.
SkyeDS: yeah, well, I don't want sineater to look bad in front of Hugh.
What happens when I really am sick or really am in the hospital
because I got hit by a mack truck, and sineater has to tell Hugh.
evile: No need to editorialize, just say flat out "sineater lied to his
employer, I am so sorry it distressed you."
SkyeDS: boy who cried wolf and all that.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: Hugh and sineater have enough in common that I don't *think* Hugh
    will judge him.
    SkyeDS: but anyway
SkyeDS: what tangled webs we do weave when first we practice to
    deceive...or whatever that is exactly
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: besides, if you tell someone the truth, and they prove that
they can't handle it, then you have no further burden past that
    evile: *nod*
    SkyeDS: "I can't/won't do (x)"
    SkyeDS: why not?
    SkyeDS: "because (insert reason here)"
    SkyeDS: (insert big blowup here)
SkyeDS: last time I explain anything to you
SkyeDS: after that, I say can't/won't, and that's that.
evile: I very rarely ask why (at least I don't think I do). If
someone says "I'm sorry,I wont' be joining you at ___ after all." I
    say "OK, see ya later"
evile: I figure if they want to explain, they can, but I don't feel
like I really tend to pry.
evile: sineater pretty much beat that out of me at an early age. :P
evile: (growing up with scorpios in the house in general, actually)
SkyeDS: I would laugh sympathetically but it's not really entirely
    funny
SkyeDS: I'm sorry about the person who chose not to tell the truth,
but maybe the person with the hangover suffered great physical misery
    all day :)
evile: I take things at face value, if someone just says 'yes'
or 'no' that's fine. Then when they start illuminating or
backpedaling or spouting falsehoods, that's when I get pissed off and
hurt. Nobody wants to hear "NO" but it happens and I accept it.
    SkyeDS: nodnodnods
evile: Oh well. Time to cast my pearls before a different bunch of
    swine, it appears.
SkyeDS: Dani lost her Pirate Queen for the midreign quest.
SkyeDS: I auditioned for the part yesterday. Apparently if I don't
do it, all the women of Drandmir have been gone through and exhausted
and Dani will have to go to another Kingdom to get help.
SkyeDS: So I was told to make the whole persona up on t he spot.
SkyeDS: I went with a blending of De Sade, Bathory, White Wolf
    Lasombra and Toreador Anti Tribu
SkyeDS: spent some time with the writing blender today (and yes I
    credited my sources :)
    evile: wow.
SkyeDS: Bathory wasn't hard to adapt, just change her castle to a
pirate ship, and change her death to her escape by faking death (Tom
Sawyer and Huck Finn there, I guess)
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: anyway, I suspect I just put a whole lot more into this
nonplayer character than anyone expected or wanted, but oh well.
SkyeDS: that's what happens when you ask me to rp/write.
    evile: heh. yeah.
SkyeDS: I hate feeling unoriginal, but then, there is no such thing
as a truly original plot, or character, they've all been done. many
    times.
evile: yup. I noticed that while watching previews at the movie this
    weekend.
SkyeDS: why do I keep hearing that Depp as Wonka looks like Michael
    Jackson? :(
evile: heh. ti's the paleness & wierd hair, I think.
SkyeDS: with all the stuff I've ordered online from ebay and
elsewhere it's like christmas every day lately :)
    evile: that's fun :)
SkyeDS: got my pretty purple silk dress Friday, wore it today, got my
horse supplies today - new bits, new saddle pieces, three times the
worming supplies for what I n ormally pay
SkyeDS: in another couple of weeks i should be receiving the three
tricktraining books, and the new matching purple fleece saddle pad,
breast collar and girthstrap (purple fleece, black nylon)
    evile: :)
SkyeDS: I decided Mirage needed new colors with her new saddle
SkyeDS: all of Jesse's colors have always matched
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: the red was ok with the old saddle, but I think purple with
    the new saddle.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: then sineater can have the black fleece black nylon girth I
bought for Mirage before I bought a set that had a girth in it, and
he will get something new too (as well as the new bit)
SkyeDS: English full cheek snaffle training bits
SkyeDS: (as opposed to the o ring western training snaffles they're
in now - even though Jesse's is still fairly new, compared to
    Mirage's)
    evile: cool
SkyeDS: I haven't tried my saris out yet, and the salwar kameez(es)
are being custom made so I have no idea how long that will take
    evile: yeah...waiting is always un-fun.
SkyeDS: the new pavilion is nicer than what we could have gotten at
Walmart or Academy, and $20 cheaper at least
SkyeDS: came missing two pieces, neither fatal, but I went ahead and
wrote to ask them to replace them anyway and they said they would
    evile: that's good
SkyeDS: and I met the head of the fire troupe that will be at Ravens
    Loft
    evile: neat :)
SkyeDS: I've been racking my brain over what to do performance wise,
    besides strolling bardic
SkyeDS: if I can use the covered arena I can do Dancing Horses, and
    so then I'm thinking well
SkyeDS: I've seen dancing horses at liberty (especially popular, like
    Cirque's Cavalia)
    evile: that'd be cool.
SkyeDS: and dancing horses in hand (being ridden)
SkyeDS: and I'd like to do both, but I'm n ot sure how
SkyeDS: at liberty is prettiest when the horses have just headstall
    and breast collar, not saddles
SkyeDS: but I'd have to already have them saddled if I'm also going
    to do ballet in hand
SkyeDS: doesn't matter how many people I have helping me, it takes
time to get saddled particularly with barding.
evile: well...most performers at faire who do several shows a day
change up the show. So you could do the first show of the day one way
and then the next one the other way, if that makes sense.
SkyeDS: that's occurred to me too. I like it better now if you think
    it's a good idea.
evile: and that encourages people to see the show again "Come back at
5:30 for our adult themed songs" or whatever.
SkyeDS: I also considered keeping one of them at liberty without
saddle, and keeping one saddled so I could combine both in one show
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: but that would keep me from doing a two horse ballet
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: unless one of us was riding bareback
SkyeDS: which would probably be me
SkyeDS: but I could still do that, and have more than one show
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: nobody's given me a schedule of performance times either
SkyeDS: so until someone does, I should be at liberty to do what I
    please
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: found out yesterday that there's a covered arena they aren't
using for jousting with petting zoo pens right beside it.
SkyeDS: I said, well if that isn't custom made for what I"d like to
    do...
SkyeDS: I was thinking that there would just be the jousting arena, a
long arena with the lists set up in the middle, and for my show,
since I'd need a smaller set up, I'd buy some of those flags (?) like
the car dealers have or whatever to create a period looking
    square/ring
    evile: that would be cool.
SkyeDS: but, this is a county fairground, they've just rented it for
two weekends, so they don't have the liberty of making a permanent
    jousting arena
SkyeDS: they're jousting in a big open field with portable lists
SkyeDS: nothing for me to create a ring out of there with flags that
I"d have to go buy, BUT a covered arena nobody else is using that I
know of, and that's even better.
    evile: sound like :)
SkyeDS: if I have a real arena, I can set up a hay bale for archery
against a backwall where there isn't gallery for audience/spectators,
and not worry about stray arrows
SkyeDS: that way I could use live tips and not blunts or boffers.
SkyeDS: although boffers are fun for shooting live targets, which is
    always amusing :D
    SkyeDS: brb phone
    SkyeDS: bk, but slow
    evile: Ok
evile: turns out onyxlynxx didn't want to go tubing withme Sunday because
Niki was goin to be there, and Niki and I are still at odds. Niki
tried to sic onyxlynxx on me at a party Saturday night, so onyxlynxx's really
uncomfortable being around both of us right now. God.damn.it.
evile: Niki ruffled my feathers and peeved me, which I will get over
if she will just STOP. But if she sows discord among our mutual
friends, she will be SERIOUSLY HURTING before much longer.
    SkyeDS: :(
SkyeDS: I hate for there to be awkward between you and onyxlynxx
evile: me too. especially as it is completely NEEDLESS for there to
    be awkwardness there.
evile: Other than some stupid little girl tyring to stir up shit in
    inappropriate times and places.
SkyeDS: she didn't say anything else to me after I accepted her
apology, so maybe she does respect boundaries when they're set in
    certain ways
SkyeDS: but you've already tried sitting her down and talking it all
    out, I'm sure
evile: I mean, really, how DARE she...getting people upset and
putting them in the middle of something that isn't any of their
business, at someone else's housewarming party???
evile: thta's just completely rude, selfish, and inappropriate.
SkyeDS: <the queen of inappropriate has nothing to say on that score>
evile: oh, please, even YOU know better than that.
SkyeDS: well, it is true that if even I know better, I was raised in
    a barn.
    evile: :)
SkyeDS: what I did seemed to work for onyxlynxx, I was just wondering if
that tactic could be modified for your situation
evile: I just don't understand what I did that was so wrong.
evile: And I don't understand how someone can expect to lay a
smackdown on me, for what I don't understand, and then expect m e to
be all bubbly and cheery and happy to see them the next time we see
    each other?
evile: I thought I was being nice, I thought I was being a good
friend, and she told me I was acting "shitty" to her. And that I was
thinking things I wasn't telling her and all this other bullshit.
SkyeDS: and she's taken all that to onyxlynxx?
evile: At someone's party, no less.
SkyeDS: would it work just to tell onyxlynxx the way you told me? and say
look, hands up, empty, white flag, peace? at least from my camp?
evile: I told onyxlynxx there's no reason for her to feel in the middle
of it, and that if she feels she has to choose I am not going to be
the asshole forcing that choice, I'll just walk away.
    SkyeDS: <furrowed brow>
SkyeDS: I can't say that I know onyxlynxx as well as I'd like to
SkyeDS: and certainly not Maggie Mae Pisces because I just met Meg
    the once
SkyeDS: but, they seem to love Niki well
evile: her natural urge is to making peace and trying to make sure
    people understnad each other.
SkyeDS: and neither one of them strike me as unintelligent or
unobservant or unknowing about people's true natures, good and bad
SkyeDS: so I assume they've seen in her what I haven't
evile: But...it's not her fight. There was and IS no reason for her
to be in the middle of me and Niki and whatever bizarre
misunderstanding is taking place between us.
SkyeDS: and I also assume they know that she isn't a saint and has
her dark shadows like the rest of us
    evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: there must be something that you can say to onyxlynxx to
illustrate that you agree about the peace thing and are trying,
    unarmed truce, bla bla bla
evile: I don't know what onyxlynxx's doing in the middle, anyway. I told
her to butt out, that the party was not an appropriate time and place
for a discussion ANYWAY, and apparently now sh'es just not
    comfortable around either of us.
SkyeDS: "can't we all just get along" just isn't always pragmatic,
practical or workable in real life
SkyeDS: theory always works in theory, but not always in practice
evile: *nod* Unlike Niki, I respect our mutual friends enough not to
put them in the middle of things. I hadn't said ANYTHING to anyone
about anything, and I wouldn't have. It was/is between me and her.
SkyeDS: we were probably a lot like that at her age...maybe...
    evile: I have no idea.
SkyeDS: boss is growling, brb :(
SkyeDS: I'm probably going to be slow until he's gone again,
something else has upset him so now he's going to take it out on
everyone and everything else around him, including me (sigh)
evile: OK. *hugs* Sorry that's happening. Lots of bad communication
    in the air lately.
SkyeDS: let him be that way. worst he can do is fire me. he'll have
to give me 30 days notice, which gives me plenty of time to find
    something that pays more.
evile: *nod* that's a good way to look at it on the bad days.
SkyeDS: and he isn't going to find anyone to do what I do for what he
pays me, so he hurts me worse than he hurts himself
    evile: heh. true!
SkyeDS: anyway, just so you know why I am occasionally even slower
    than usual
evile: Ok. No biggie, I know your'e at work.
SkyeDS: yes, but right now is a bad time for me to be slow in
    responding
    evile: nah. you're fine.
evile: I just need to quit feeling sorry for myself and live my
    fuckin' life.
evile: And learn that I can not, ever, give my heart to a woman.
evile: Women are OK to hang out with, but they aren't to be loved or
trusted. And that's fine, because it's got to be. because I've got to
stop throwing my love and my efforts down endless black holes.
SkyeDS: it is hard to have wasted one's resources. maybe love is a
harder resource to have wasted than money, time, etc
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and you, much more than me, are so not a wasteful person with
    any of your resources.
evile: there are no women, there is no woman, who is going to share
my life and my interests and my love in the way I want her to.
    So...thats' that.
evile: And I have to stop trying, because every time I do, it ends up
being thrown back in my face with much venom and hurt. And I must be
doing something to make that keep happening...so arm's lenght, all
    of 'em.
evile: I know how to be courteous and smile and nod. I just have to
stop wanting anything more and deeper, because it just fuckin' hurts.
SkyeDS: there are a lot of awesome, beautiful, brilliant, witty,
vibrant and charming women surrounding you as Sisters, and they seem
to me to give you the best they've got to give. I envy that.
evile: I guess the kind of female friendship I want, a) doens't exist
    b) hasn't been given to the right person [come ON< all of them??!@?
Even a broken clock is right twice a day!] or c) I don't deserve it.
evile: So I guess for the sake of my own wellb-eing I am going to
    decide it doesn't exist.
SkyeDS: I still wistfully envy what is given to you that does exist.
It's more than some of us ever see.
SkyeDS: I'm not ever likely to hold the place that you do in the
affections of women like Jenn, Julie, JLaw or DeeDee
evile: *nod* I know I have a lot of blessings, and I take a lot of
good things in my life completely for granted...which just makes me
    feel shittier about myself.
SkyeDS: Goddess didn't create no crap. And that includes you :P
    evile: thanks. :)
SkyeDS: I think you need more birthday spankins from Jenn
    SkyeDS: <ducks and runs>
    evile: heh.
evile: I think you just want to *watch* someone get more spankings
    from Jenni.
SkyeDS: I don't know that just anybody would have been as
    entertaining :P
evile: she's a pretty good domme.
SkyeDS: and yes, I am a completely unabashed, unashamed voyeur :P
evile: Too bad you're going to be out of town this weekend, it's a
    GWNN party weekend :)
SkyeDS: remember when I told you about the lawyer on the phone from
    NOLA that got evacuated?
SkyeDS: I vaguely remembered Mom saying she and Dad were in NOLA
(where Stuart lives now) with the kids
SkyeDS: they went to Georgia to get the kids and had to go to court
because the wench wouldn't hand them over
SkyeDS: and I thought, you know, maybe I should call the cell (only #
I've got besides home) and see if they got out okay
SkyeDS: but then I thought, no, SURELY they had the sense to leave,
    right?
SkyeDS: so Saturday, Gramma calls and says, they've been in NOLA for
two days without electricity and NOW they're leaving.
    evile: jeez.
evile: hpefully they were at a really cool hurricane party in the
    meantime.
SkyeDS: the three grandchildren are all under the age of 6
    evile: oh joy.
SkyeDS: so t hen gramma tells me, they'll keep the kids till Monday
or whenever its safe to take them back
SkyeDS: and then the kids will come back this coming weekend with
    Stuart for the reunion
evile: that's a hell of a lot of driving. esp. through bad weather!
SkyeDS: so, could I just drop everything I was doing Saturday and run
to Texarkana right then and there
SkyeDS: and I said, um, no sorry
SkyeDS: especially not since we went to Tyler last week and were
planning to be there this coming weekend
evile: OMG! that's so out of line!
SkyeDS: I know what she was getting at
SkyeDS: she wanted me to have a chance of seeing the kids without
    stuart attached
evile: *nod* but still.. you already had plans & commitments.
SkyeDS: and that's nice of her to think of, but I still can't just go
to txka at the drop of a hat like that
SkyeDS: had someone said something about it on Friday night, then I
could have gotten up early Saturday morning and left. Assuming
someone helped me with the gas expenses. AND found a place to keep t
he horses, because no, I can't find a sitter for them on less than 24
    hours notice
    evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: the family seems to think that I can just use sonar0m for that
    purpose.
SkyeDS: and I could, but I'm not going to.
SkyeDS: and I'm still not real happy with the stud colt next door
    who still isn't cut.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: anyway, I can't believe they stayed there for 2 days with no
electric before they evacuated <rolls eyes>
evile: I'm sure they had their reasons.
SkyeDS: Stuart got laid off from his law office after the bankrupty
laws just recently got overhauled, so now he's selling cars.
    evile: wow.
SkyeDS: and they wouldn't let him off work, hurricane or no
hurricane, three small children or no
SkyeDS: I told Mom I"m sorry that he got laid off, however, the
    bankrupty laws did need overhauling
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: people like Trump were declaring faster than they change
    their underwear
SkyeDS: and Mom says he's good at selling cars and it makes him happy
(he's done it for all of a week now.)
SkyeDS: so, after he broke her heart so many times that eventually
she told him no more, here we are back at square one, golden boy child
evile: some personality types are really suited for sales...if it
makes him happy and he's good at it, who are we to judge.
SkyeDS: all because of "the chirren"
evile: it took uncle bubba more than 40 years to grow up. Some people
    are just like that.
SkyeDS: I do feel sorry for his children, and somebody needs to raise
them because God/dess knows he, his new live in lover that Mom just
adores, and his insane ex, aren't going to do it
evile: *nod* it's always sadder when kids are involved in
    dysfunctional situations.
evile: they dont' have the choice to walk if it's unhealthy for them.
SkyeDS: I can't believe Mom hasn't read him the riot act about living
in sin in front of his kids
SkyeDS: but then again, I can believe it too. She can't afford to
alienate him, and I know in her mind it isn't bad when the golden
child does it, just when the rest of us do it.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and I can observe all of this, and honestly say, I know
that's the way it is, I'm pretty sure that's why it's the way it is,
and at least it doesn't hurt me anymore, I've learned not to let
that influence my relationship with my mother, which shouldn't have
    anything to do with him.
SkyeDS: I can always tell when she's spent large amounts of money on
him because she always shows up shortly thereafter for a work weekend
to put hours of labor into the ranch when I try to get them to just
let me treat them as guests, and to spend huge amounts of money that
    I would rather she not
SkyeDS: I'm always happy to see them of course but I wish they'd not
work all weekend long and spend time visiting and doing pleasant
    things instead
evile: that's really too bad. I hate it when people act from guilt
SkyeDS: is the way she's made, and I accept that, as I accept the law
of gravity, which means nothing, for good or for ill, but just is.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I would just rather take them out unique and tasty places to
eat, sit them down to see movies they wouldn't otherwise see, and for
Daddy to spend his time fishin, not workin
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I really do worry when they insist on spending the hottest
hours of the day out mowing and such. Especially when I'm at work
and can't help or be there should something bad happen - like heat
    stroke
    evile: yeah...
SkyeDS: anyway, next weekend should be a good test of my resolutions
for myself. that's one way to look at it anyway - and better than
the way I would otherwise be inclined to look at it.
SkyeDS: but whatever else happens, sineater and sonar0m have been
instructed that under no circumstances is Gramma allowed to wake me
up between 5:30 and 6:30 on Sunday morning.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: Daddy says I exaggerate about Gramma, but I know damn good
and well he knows I'm not, because he goes out of his way to avoid
    going over there himself, LOL
    evile: heh. Yeah.
SkyeDS: you could take bellydancing from Z Helene and from Drakon and
then you could have your own solo act with us and be the only dancer
out there with an Egyptian horse too
evile: heh. no thanks. I am a big fat klutz, I would prefer not to
    have an audience for it.
SkyeDS: klutz maybe, fat no. why I don't do it, I'm more belly than
    dancer atm.
evile: *shrug* let's just say it's out of my comfort zone, and leave
    it at that, then.
SkyeDS: I figured you'd say that, but it's a nice idea anyway :P
evile: OK, nice fantasy, but best left there.
SkyeDS: I don't think Jubilee has ever seen a real bellydancing
show. I know she was eager to go to the hafla at War but never made
it. She asked if the boys could accomplish what we needed with just
    two bodhrans and a tamborine
SkyeDS: I gently said, um, no dear, we need at least one dumbek and
someone who's better with a drum than any one of us...
evile: You should bring her out to the show next month at casa de luz.
evile: Rick teaches drumming once a month, too. That'd be fun, if you
were of a mind to learn some bellydancing rhythms.
SkyeDS: if it's on a Friday that might could be managed
SkyeDS: assuming it's not on a Raven's Loft Friday
evile: yup. Friday the 5th of August.
SkyeDS: might give me a chance to ask the dancers what CDs they like
    too, hm.
evile: I'm pretty sure next month's is all live music so they might
not be bringing any of their own music, but I'm sure they'd be
willing to chat during the intermission.
SkyeDS: I would so love to have live music eventually
SkyeDS: and I don't even know why I'm investing so much in this, it
isn't like I want to do it for a living, I just want to go to faires
for free and take my children
SkyeDS: it's almost turning into what happened when I started selling
    Arthur feathers at CMA
SkyeDS: it started out as, I have more feathers than I'll ever use
for craft purposes, and I have an unlimited supply of more, I'll just
    start selling them loose
SkyeDS: which turned into trips to the leather store and the hobby
stores and oh, this is pretty, and that and the other thing, and I
don't know what I"ll do with all this stuff but I"ll figure it out
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: so loose feathers turned into sineater teaching me to work
leather and wire and beads and such
SkyeDS: and then someone wanted my craftwork but with different
colored feathers, so it turned into buying the molt feathers from my
    friends' birds
SkyeDS: and sineater at one point said, but I thought the po int of all
this originally was to just get rid of Arthur's excess molt feathers?
    ROFL
    evile: Yeah....
evile: it's easy to let an idea get out of hand.
SkyeDS: while digging out the stash of raw material to discuss what
could be made from it, Jubilee discovered all of my old crafty stuff,
    so plans have now expanded
SkyeDS: I offered just to pay her outright for sewing with my raw
materials but she said she'd rather me pay her by buying her a
readymade outfit from Snookie's. My guess is that if I just gave her
the money she wouldn't end up saving it away to get something from
Snookie's she'd spend it on practical stuff for school (Baylor).
    evile: *nod*
    evile: what is a 'Snookie's'?
SkyeDS: an ebay custom garb store that has what we both thought were
    very reasonable prices and craftmanship
SkyeDS: I want to get the boys outfits from there too
    evile: cool :)
    SkyeDS: http://stores.ebay.com/SNOOKIES-FAUX-
    ORIGINALS_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm
SkyeDS: I particularly like their purple witch's garb and their men's
    pirate/gypsy set, especially the chemise
SkyeDS: and the chemise particularly on the women's gypsy set
    evile: cool :)
    SkyeDS: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?
    ViewItem&category=4156&item=8316049580
    evile: I like the bodice.
    SkyeDS: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?
    ViewItem&category=4156&item=8317495659
SkyeDS: the men's chemise on just the plain pirate garb is not the
same as on the pirate/gypsy set, which I'm not seeing anymore :|
SkyeDS: it had very nice beading on the arms
evile: Oh well, I'm sure you can contact the seller and see what's
available, or just watch the site and see if it comes up again.
SkyeDS: when I have the money I'll just email and ask if it's
possible to still have those patterns made nodnod
evile: that is a very good price for everything they come with.
SkyeDS: I thought so, and more importantly Jubi thought so, who knows
more about it than I do.
SkyeDS: I'm not very bright about a whole lot of stuff but I am
bright enough to seek out people who are
evile: *nod* that's an important skill.
evile: April is such a sweetheart.
SkyeDS: April = Ample I completely wholeheartedly agree
    evile: *nod*
evile: things didn't go exactly as planned yesterday, everyone was
running late, and bla bla, but she just let it roll off her back &
    enjoyed the day.
evile: I definitely need to spend more time with people who are like
    that.
SkyeDS: I definitely need to BE more like that
evile: me too. Hoping that if I have more friends like that, I can
    learn from their example.
SkyeDS: although all this eventing is getting me there the hard way
if necessary. now pretty much we get there when we get there
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I hope she plans to do more toobin this summer, I want to
make an effort to go, just once even
evile: *nod* it would be nice to spend more time with her, and maybe
even entice her grumpy homebody hubby out too :)
SkyeDS: we were SO late yesterday. Like three hours. And I decided
fuck it, I'm wearing my swimsuit and my jeans.
SkyeDS: and the world didn't end.
    evile: *nod*
evile: being late doesn't have to ruin your day, but being upset
    about being late certainly can.
    SkyeDS: zactly
SkyeDS: and that's what cell phones are for. I called Dani, told
her, I"ll be there, I'm late, I'm sorry, and then I completely blew
it off, and got there when I got there.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and when I got there I had to wait for a good long while for
her to have time to do what she said she needed to anyway
evile: so everything worked out for the best, really.
evile: time for me to git. *hugs* have a good evening. Thanks for
    putting up w/me today :P

    ----------------
    thewordnerd: Hey, how goes?
evile: hi. Not bad. How's with you?
thewordnerd: Eh, not too bad. Decided to take a day-long break from the
search since things seem to be going well, and I'm kinda sick of
looking at website after website anyway. :)
evile: cool. When is your in-person interview?
thewordnerd: I'm writing an email to schedule it. Either next Thursday or
Friday. Elise is offering me a ride on Friday, so if she's serious
about it then I might take her up on it to spare the frustrations of
STS. They've been calling me the night before scheduled rides and
changing times, which really makes me nervous about working with them
for something like an interview where I have to be there on time.
evile: yeah. that would be nerve wracking.
thewordnerd: . . . which makes no sense to me. If I've called and scheduled
3-4 days in advance then I can't think of why I'd need to have that
changed the night before. Either they gave away the slot which I
specifically called in advance for, or they gave me someone else's.
Last time they bumped pick-up 45 minutes ahead, which still meant
that I was getting there early, but it was cut very very close,
especially as the driver was late.
    evile: yeah. that sucks!
thewordnerd: So, is the Church of Tube worshipping this weekend? Might
actually be willing to partake if so; I'm becoming less and less
worried about my finances as these various job things become more
    certain.
evile: I am not sure yet. Sweetie will be out of town. I will keep you
    posted :)
thewordnerd: Ah, all righty. I think I'd definitely like to join you guys
regularly, though, as it really sounds fun.
evile: it is fun. April (ample on LJ) was talking about organizing
the tubing trip for July 10. I am waiting to see what she comes up
    with.
thewordnerd: How much were the tubes that you saw last weekend at Academy,
BTW? I'd really like to buy a pool float, because the pool is really
too shallow to swim in, so if I do go regularly then it may make
sense to buy a tube and have it serve double duty.
evile: they varied. The one I want is about $25
    thewordnerd: Oh, that isn't too bad. Was that higher-end, mid-range or . . .
evile: No clue. I wasn't really paying attention to the prices of the
    ones I didn't want.
thewordnerd: Ah. That isn't too bad, though. The float that I was
considering purchasing cost like $10-$15, so it'd only require an
additional 2-3 rentals to make that worthwhile. Hmmm.
thewordnerd: That is, if I bought a tube instead of the float.
evile: yup, that's pretty much what I'd figured out.
evile: I will definitely need to work in another trip to Academy
    before the weekend.
thewordnerd: Sorry, was just sending off emails to ghe ghostwriter woman,
scheduling my interview time and seeing if Elise could get me there.
    Back now.
    evile: that's cool.
thewordnerd: Think I could tag along? No worries if not, as it certainly
isn't a huge deal or essential or anything. I was just thinking
recently that a float would be awesome for the pool, and now that I
can actually afford one, and ever since you wrote about buying a
    tube, I was thinking . . . :)
thewordnerd: I don't really know where the academy is, so it may be way out
of your way to grab me.
evile: I am not sure when I'll have the time, but I'll definitely
    call you when I know.
    thewordnerd: Ok, sounds good.

    Jun. 27, 2005

evile: hi :) How was your weekend?
    SkyeDS: good, urs?
evile: very nice :) Biggest tubing gang yet--11 ppl
SkyeDS: saw where Ample is going tubing too
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: might be nice to do that one Sunday rather than HFS
evile: no pets allowed on the san marcos shuttle...but other that,
    yeah.
SkyeDS: ....I hadn't planned on taking Arthur or the horses tubing,
although I do intend to teach the horses to swim.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I see no way for tubing to be safe for Arthur or it being
enjoyable to him, as much as he likes water
    evile: probably not.
SkyeDS: he likes gently falling water, anything that resembles rain.
Not swimming in bodies of water, which he doesn't like.
    evile: *nod*
evile: the bellydance/fire show at NM was pretty good, as much as I
really dont' care for the headline act. Drakon was wonderful, as
always, the fire was awesome, and Jaime did well on drums, even with
    a hangover.
SkyeDS: I thought Jaime was dancing. Why did I think that.
evile: I probably said 'performing' and you assumed dancing, not
    knowing he's a musician.
SkyeDS: that makes more sense to me than him dancing
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I really couldn't get my mind around him dancing
evile: I'd never seen him on drums before so that was cool
SkyeDS: I bet. I remember when I discovered at pagan events that I'd
rather drum than be in the dance circle.
SkyeDS: I'd never played a drum before, just tamborine, marracas, etc
SkyeDS: but piano is also a percussion instrument so I guess it
should have occurred to me that I'd enjoy drums
evile: *nod* any sense of rhythm is helpful :)
evile: Ample wants to go tubing earlier than we usually do...if she
goes to San Marcos, I may have to plan on joining her later, or go
with Ample & just have Sweetie/peglegasus/etc. join me later.
SkyeDS: yep, definite need to give thought to how long it will take
us to make SM from home
    evile: *nod*
evile: I googled Ravensloft, it's almost 5 hours from my house! yuk!
evile: agh. onyxlynxx's being bitchy. Maybe I should go home and steam
some artichokes, the way I've been wanting to for DAYS now.
SkyeDS: my grilling show grilled baby artis and caesar salad this
    last episode
    SkyeDS: num num num
evile: I've never grilled an artichoke.
SkyeDS: the grilled salad was more surprising to me evne than
    artichokes
SkyeDS: I mean, I'd never heard of grilling chokes specifically but I
am familiar with grilling veges and fruits generally
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: what I think would be neat is to grill the Italian stuffed
chokes (stuffed w cheese and other goodies)
SkyeDS: if you can grill peppers stuffed with cheese, why not chokes
evile: true. I guess you'd have to go with baby ones, though,
otherwise half would get cooked and the other half would not.
    SkyeDS: they were using babies
SkyeDS: and said since the babies were so tender you didn't have to
    remove the chokes
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I watch the cooking shows on PBS because I don't have Food
Network (or any other channel worth watching) anymore
    evile: *nod*
evile: Could be worse: we only get FOX.
SkyeDS: true. we get two versions of all the networks, and 3 pbs,
    and one spanish
SkyeDS: the reception on all of them sucks tho
    evile: yeah.
evile: Other than simpsons, we really don't watch that much TV, so I
don't really care. Especially now that everything's hooked up and I
can watch movies on the big projector screen :)
SkyeDS: they played a good simpsons rerun not too long ago about a
struggle between the child-free and families
evile: I love that episode :)
SkyeDS: I wondered if you might not ;)
evile: "All my purse has in it is DISPOSABLE INCOME!!"
    SkyeDS: LOL
SkyeDS: ironically enough...I have dozens of children who consider me
an Aunt to some degree or another
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: but I've never met the three nieces/nephew that are actually
    mine
    SkyeDS: by adoption anyway
SkyeDS: so I will be meeting them at the upcoming family reunion
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: about which all I can muster right now is a less than half
    hearted academic, tha'ts nice.
    evile: yeah...
SkyeDS: I've been reading Sandra Day O'Connor's decisions,
particularly Kelo and 10 Commandments, and I'm liking her a lot.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: have carved an interesting niche for my character in RP
    evile: oh?
SkyeDS: anytime someone needs some hole filled in and they can't come
up with a plot device to do so, they use Bella's Sight
    evile: oh, that's kinda cool!
SkyeDS: people give me what details they want filled in, what details
they want left obscured, and I come up with fairly genuine tarot,
astrology etc to make it sound good
evile: I haven't read any of the boards in forever; where is all this
    going on?
    SkyeDS: www.hfscr.org > forums > In Character
SkyeDS: I've just gotten new fodder from last night's minicourt and
    Dani/Sharjinka RP this am
SkyeDS: too bad I can't post RP with pictures of the cards, that
    would be cool
    evile: yeah....
evile: that's one major advantage hfsinchaos has, they have photos
SkyeDS: I was talking to Shadowmist's Kim (as opposed to Drandmir's
    Kim)
SkyeDS: who is the feastocrat for CRW
SkyeDS: and she asked me if I was bringing the horses
    evile: *nod*
    SkyeDS: I was like, um...no?
SkyeDS: it's a state park, it isn't one of the 12 where they're
    allowed
SkyeDS: besides SIL (that's you) found a faire for us to go to that
    weekend instead so it's ok
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: and you don't notice us whining moaning bitching kvetching or
anything similar about date or site
SkyeDS: we'll go to whatever CRWs we can go to and the ones we can't,
    that's life
SkyeDS: I didn't tell her that I agree that Ronnie has pretty much
    messed up irreparably this year
SkyeDS: because I do agree with her that regardless, he shoudln't be
    subject to personal attack
SkyeDS: the children of HFS still need to learn to cordially,
    respectfully agree to disagree
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: our court system is adversarial, but courteous
evile: yup...the inherent truth is that by agreeing to debate in
court, you are automatically honoring your opponent by deeming him
worthy of combat kind of thing...
SkyeDS: I personally don't understand why it seems to be so hard for
so many to grasp "agree to disagree" over a cold beer or whatever
    evile: you would think...
evile: oh well. geek social fallacies abound in that group, I think.
SkyeDS: I liked those, I memoried those, and the next 10
    commandments, same day
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: I also thanked argoneric for posting the excellent legal opinion
    sites
SkyeDS: I would like sometime to sit down with him and talk shop
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: passionate kisses for onyxlynxx = good too
    evile: yup.
evile: I got the first hint of his Leo nature at full moon last
week...I can't say it did much for me, but Libras are better at
    dealing with such.
SkyeDS: Leo & Libra are the Fire/Air thing, good thing
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: you'd feel the same connection more with a Cancer/Leo
    cuspbaby (predominantly cancer)
evile: I generally want to kick Cancers in teh ass, actually.
evile: and knock Leos upside the head.
SkyeDS: the cusp of leo would be imperative there
    SkyeDS: because of your cusp
SkyeDS: you wouldn't be dealing then with a pure critter but a hybrid
complementary to the kind of hybrid you are yourself
evile: I dont' care for the whiney drama of the Cancer, or the
egomania of the Leo...I can't imagine liking someone with traits of
    both.
SkyeDS: it would be a mitigating thing, the best of both, without the
    worst of either
    SkyeDS: theoretically anyway
SkyeDS: it isn't like I can go to the mall and custom order one anyway
evile: I don't think there's a 'best' of Leo. Cancers are OK in
    moderation
SkyeDS: I don't seem to have a good track record with Cancer
SkyeDS: I have had enough Cancer friends to notice a pattern
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I give them several years of "we trust each other with our
lives" and they eventually turn on me for no discernible sensible
    reason
evile: my theory is lack of communication when they start feeling
stepped-on, which leads to a blowup
SkyeDS: and then have the unmitigated gall to be surprised when the
gemini reaction to the cancer claws to the belly is to draw the sword
    and give them back nubs
SkyeDS: that sounds about right, yepyep, what you said
evile: it's unfortunate...neither person is a bad person, or else
they never would have been friends/trusted each other in the first
    place.
SkyeDS: I completely agree. Of course, that's not the way Cancer
    sees it.
SkyeDS: On top of that, you want to talk about holding grudges.
SkyeDS: I have a long memory, Cancers hold grudges longer than herds
    of elephants.
SkyeDS: the sad thing bout it is, these have all been relationships I
treasured deeply (some more deeply than others, admittedly)
    evile: *nod*
evile: ooh...I just realized this Friday is Drakon's show!!! Now I
almost hope my boss does actually gather the tits/spine to tell
me "no" on my leave request, so I can stay in town instead of heading
    out w/Sweetie
SkyeDS: may you find what you seek, either way
    evile: *grinz*
    SkyeDS: I'm s o bad
evile: are you accumulating double bitch points?
SkyeDS: I ordered 3 five yard saris, and 2 custom made salwar kameez
    evile: that's cool.
SkyeDS: I seldom accumulate bitch points at all because apparently,
when I'm bitchy, I'm so bitchy that the other card carrying bitches
around me tell me I'm too bitchy
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: I learned in high school that I wasn't interested in
individual battles, just nuclear options that end the war
SkyeDS: so I tolerate a whole lot and then fire off just one volley
intended to end the entire thing, and that one volley is apparently
    too low
    SkyeDS: <shrugs>
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: no, I was bad by way of shopping spree
SkyeDS: but three 5 yard saris and two custom tailored silk and
beaded salwar kameez, in my size, for under $100 all told, I couldn't
    resist
evile: it's only bad if you deprived your children of food, loved
ones of roof over head by spending the $, and/or the stuff turns out
not to be worth what you spent on it or you don't end up liking it.
SkyeDS: of course....I can resist anything but temptation
SkyeDS: I also found a seamstress on ebay who sells exquisite garb
for not much more than it would take to make it yourself
evile: I am trying to reserve moral judgement for things that
actually effect others. Food, money...neither is good or evil, they
    just are.
    SkyeDS: Snookies
SkyeDS: but for the time being I will need to learn how to wrap a sari
evile: If I can't spend the money or eat the thing without feeling
like shit, I will just skip it :P
SkyeDS: I've seen pictures of how to do it, but I've not done it yet
evile: as I discovered with wrapping my Dark Goddess Ball turban, it
looks easier than it is :P
    SkyeDS: that's what concerns me
evile: another job for de boys, I guess :P
    SkyeDS: turbans, saris or both
evile: it's often easier to do something on someone else than it is
on yourself (painting finger/toenails comes to mind as an immediate
    example :P)
SkyeDS: I remember Cameron (GWNN) saying it takes two women to wrap
him in his 9 yard tartan properly
    evile: heh. probably.
    SkyeDS: yard = feet...?
SkyeDS: maybe he meant 3 yards, 9 feet
    evile: no. He meant yards.
evile:  Sweetie's is 6 yd, technically cheating, but easier to manage.
SkyeDS: I'm wondering if 5 yards isn't going to be too long for me
SkyeDS: but then there's my belly *sigh*
SkyeDS: the pictures I"ve seen start off with pleats (on the saris at
    the waist)
SkyeDS: but I've never seen one on someone that was pleated
evile: sari fabric is lighter weight than tartan, so should be more
    manageable.
SkyeDS: the saris are georgette, which is supposed to be more
flattering to full figures than heavier saris
SkyeDS: as much as I love silk - and have a choli made from sari
silk, with a black tribal skirt that has a band of the same sari silk
    at bottom
SkyeDS: (I was wearing it at Ingleside)
    evile: silk can be georgette.
SkyeDS: the gorgeous choli that goes with the skirt doesn't fit
SkyeDS: but Jubilee said she thinks we can afro-engineer it
evile: georgette is a weight/type of fabric. silk is a material that
    fabric is made out of.
SkyeDS: I wanted to take the sleeves off and make them (whatever you
    call detached sleeves)
evile: A chevy is made of steel. Steel is not a Chevy.
SkyeDS: ok, well, georgette as opposed to something heavier
SkyeDS: I got the feeling it had to do with weight of cloth
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: certainly not the Arabian silk that was so heavy it repelled
    arrows
evile: georgette is a semi-sheer weave, with a non-shiny type finish.
SkyeDS: but so we're going to detach the sleeves and put grommets in
at the shoulders and under the arms and do laces rather than add
    panels
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: nonshiny is good, usually silks/satins that are shiny are
    also very heavy and hot
    evile: yup.
evile: My silk sarong is shiny, but very light. Charmeuse, I think?
SkyeDS: I'm hoping to be able to ride in the salwar kameez, the
    saris....ehhhh........
SkyeDS: but they should make for great court garb
    evile: probably not so much.
    evile: yeah. definitely :)
SkyeDS: and even if I can't use them as garb at all, I like them, and
I'm going to wear them anyway, any place I wanna
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: that beaded headpiece that came with the riders garb that
came with Mirage's bedouin set, that I thought was silly, sells
    online for $28
    evile: wow!
SkyeDS: I'm still more partial to a tikka
SkyeDS: on top of the lovely headscarf that goes under the silly
    headpiece
SkyeDS: black triangular scarf beaded on two sides
    evile: I like those.
SkyeDS: I'm still pondering whether I could wear mine under a turban
SkyeDS: the whole thing with a turban is to use something on bottom
    like gauze or cotton
SkyeDS: the scarf has to be held in place with black silk cord as it
    is
SkyeDS: and, of course, the scarf means I can't ponytail and then
    tuck into the turban
evile: *nod* I imagine with practice, you could incorporate a lot of
    separate pieces into your turban-wrapping.
SkyeDS: of course I won't know how it would look until I try it, but
I think the black triangle scarf below, tied with cord, turban on
top, attach the tikka to the turban along with tassels and other such
SkyeDS: I have a lot of pretty trims to cannibalize from my shoddy
    attempt at horse barding
evile: yeah, all the trims & stuff add visual interest
evile: all of my rock the casbah stuff is black...so I'm not wearing
it to ravensloft, that's for dang sure :P
SkyeDS: speak of the devil, my 3 saris just arrived
    evile: that was quick :)
SkyeDS: drooling, yummies, now I really have to learn how to wear
    them!
evile: I once had a green silk sari that I wore as "Gaia" one
halloween, and then used as a window treatment. :p
SkyeDS: they all say 100% polyester, so I guess it's faux georgette
SkyeDS: oh well, should be easy to take care of anyway
SkyeDS: the colors and sparklies and patterns are gorgeous all the
    same
evile: no...georgette doesn't have to be silk. Georgette is the style
of fabric, not the material the fabric is made out of.
SkyeDS: did you make pleats in yours at the waist?
SkyeDS: because it looks simple enough if I don't have to make pleats
evile: I wore mine like a toga...It was totally half-assed.
evile: it was fine for a costume party look but would not have stood
up to a full day of activity
evile: (firm believer in hidden safety pins/velcro/etc.)
SkyeDS: this choir sings amen to that
evile: We are so caught up, I had figured that asking off Friday
would be an automatic 'yes'. But I guess not. My boss is so
    frustrating...
evile: and I can deal with "no" far more gracefully than I deal
    with "no response whatsoever"
    SkyeDS: nods.
SkyeDS: am afraid I may be about to have that problem, I hope not,
not to the tune of $50
    evile: oh dear.
SkyeDS: 53 and some change actually
    evile: ouchies.
evile: I just can't imagine Hugh giving you a hard time like that...
    SkyeDS: not Hugh. Ebay seller.
    evile: Oh, OK.
SkyeDS: Hugh and I do pretty good together. Been here over a year
and a half now. That's a long time for a merc.
    evile: *nod*
evile: Time for me to scoot. I'll yap at ya later.
SkyeDS: wind to your wings! :)

Tuesday was Solstice picnic, and I had a good turnout & a good mix of
people. We cooked out and swam in Bull Creek & had a really nice
time. The moon looked like a giant peach; it was huge and orange :)
    That was cool.

I had a great day yesterday. I took the day off from work & went to
San Antonio and had tea with Dee, Rio, the kids, and Rio & D's friend
Rhonnie, who is a nice Mormon gal. We had a really excellent lunch.
Scones, strawberry preserves & cream for dessert. OMG...too yummy!
Then we wandered and shopped a bit,and then Rhonnie went off to run
errands and such, so the rest of us went back to D's mom's house and
hung out in D's old room & talked about life, the universe, and
everything. D was wearing a really great T shirt, it had what looked
like an iron-on picture of a celtic dragon, but the iron on actually
velcroed off to let her nurse the baby discreetly as we chatted. He's
a lovely baby; very smiley and sweet tempered, not noisy at all. A
little drooley, but then again that's just what babies do. It was
great to see her so happy and see what a great big sis Josephine is.
She's 12 now!! She showed me her drawings, she really likes
doing 'anime' type styles. And she's good at it. She and Jaden played
DDR and had a good time; it's so great to see how they can be apart
for months and then get back together and just pick up their kid-
    friendship. I loved it.

Today at work is just draggin'. We are very caught up on work, so
we're trying hard to look busy. *sigh*

Oh well. I'm happy, looking forward to poly dinner tonight and
looking forward to the weekend. e. cancelled on me for Yoga on
Saturday, so I can sleep late if I want. And then Sunday we're
tooobin! That seems to have become a tradition for us... A lady on
the bus started prosetylizing me this a.m. and I thought of telling
her "I belong to the First Church of the Toob" :)

I had a really nice weekend. Saturday I cleaned house. My friend D
will be visiting this week with her 11 year old and her 4 month old,
and maybe their dog. I don't think I can really childproof our house,
but at least the child won't catch a disease from the floor at this
point. Tom, of course, hasn't done a damn thing.

Saturday evening, Jon, Niki and I shopped for dinner stuff and toobin
lunch munchies, and grilled on the pit. Shishkebobs--beef & chicken,
and veggies. small taters in foil with butter & garlic. It was yummy.

Sunday we went toobin' in San Marcos. Me, Nikiyoy, Jon, Peglegasus, his
friend/coworker Dan, Cousin B, Sweetie. This will be B's last tube trip for
a while; he's going to New Mexico for a while with his father,
leaving on Wednesday. When he talks about his mother and father, he
becomes a different person. It's sad to see. With us, he's normally
such a fun person: spontaneous, goofy, fun, sweet, easygoing,
enjoyable. And then his parents get brought up and he turns into your
typical sullen foulmouthed teenage boy. It's really heartbreaking.
Any idiot with gonads can make a kid, but the people who made him
really aren't worthy of being called 'parents.' He is a wonderful
person, in spite of his parental issues. I am glad and grateful for
him in my life, but my uncle and his ex wife had no business
    reproducing.

Tonight I need to go grocery shopping and maybe give in to the tiki-
lust. (Big Lots had a bunch of fun tiki stuffs...I really might need
some of it for Tuesday's full moon gathering :)

Dreamed about Aunt L calling me at some ungodly hour of the a.m. I was
in my room from the house we lived in on Jackson st. in Indiana, but
it was on the new house on Elm, and there was a giant storm outside
and I could see the power lines crackling and sparking with
electricity, and L's voice kept fading out as she was talking to
    me. It was wierd.

I called home yesterday to wish dad/G happy father's day. until my mom
said something I hadn't even thought to call or email my father. Oh
well. They said brother A and sineater had both called, and I probably screwed
up by telling Mom that Aunt L was trying to stay in touch with brother A for
    her sake. agh. family bullshit.
