Did I catch her goofing off at work? Did I catch her at home when she
said she was working MWF until 8 pm, or what?

    hmm

evile: howdy! Did you finally get a 'puter at the office?
SkyeDS: yep slow brb still working on it

evile: howdy! Did you finally get a 'puter at the office?
SkyeDS: yep slow brb still working on it
    evile: rehi!
    SkyeDS: ah happiness
    evile: all working now?
SkyeDS: seems to be, so far so good
    evile: good deal.
evile: Did y'all go to dinner on Sunday evening? I tried to call
sonar0m' cell, but got his dad. ACK!
SkyeDS: his dad has the cell most of the time now (damned
    inconvenient)
SkyeDS: we were in San Antonio until past midnight, got home around
2:30. went to dinner at ryan's and then moved to denny's when they
    closed
evile: no shit. I felt like a moron. I probably gave him some info he
could use against sonar0m, but I tried not to.
SkyeDS: and of course my isp was down and I got your email too late
    to respond timely
    evile: suck! Sorry about that!
evile: I didn't go to the meeting last night. I was too tired & it
was rainy & yucky out. I didn't feel like going alone and putting up
    iwth crap weather.
evile: And I didn't go to skate night because of my 'friend' jeff who
creeps me out. so...it was a total loser night at home for me.
    SkyeDS: :(
    evile: Oh well.
SkyeDS: what possible information could M's dad use against him
in "is sonar0m here, no? thank you goodbye"
evile: I was stupid (oh, quelle surprise!) and when the dad asked "Is
there anything I can help you with" I said "Oh, I was just calling to
see if he was on his way to dinner with the High Fantasy folks, and I
don't guess you know if he is or not" and he said something like "no,
I wouldn't know anything about that"....
SkyeDS: we need to acquire a cellphone soon
evile: Possibly to my credit, I didn't mention that M. was with You,
and I did not mention that he was in San Antonio. So...
SkyeDS: the acquisition of the new land is stretching finances quite
    thin
    evile: I'm sure.
SkyeDS: that and of course paying off the transmission
evile: yup. That was a really suck thing. But...at least you were in
a safe place when it happened, and not halfway between hell and gone.
evile: I tried to give sonar0m a heads-up on the phone thing, but I
couldn't find an email address for him among all the hfs yahoo groups.
evile: Are you on the Voyagers yahoo group? Kind of a GWNN-subset?

she keeps going offline or 'na'. what's up with that? I guess this is
back to the non confrontational BS crap where she ignores me rather
than tells me what's bothering her or what horrible sin I've
    committed now.
    Oh well.

evile: we having a Mercury Retrograde ? :P

evile: we having a Mercury Retrograde ? :P
SkyeDS: no, we're having problems with the host computer lol
    evile: looks like!
SkyeDS: every time Hugh's computer crashes he has to reboot and I
    lose my connection
    evile: crap!
SkyeDS: I've heard of Voyagers but I don't know what they are/do
evile: They're kind of an 'intro group' for people who are curious
but haven't done much RL yet. Or at least that's what they're
supposed to be. It seems to have solidified into an 'in' crowd that
has made at least one newcomer (me) feel unwelcome. But...this
month's topic is of interest so I may try to go even if they dont'
    really want newbies there anymore.
    evile: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Austin_Voyagers/
SkyeDS: I know intellectually that groups, whoever they are, function
in a certain way inherent to the nature of the beast
SkyeDS: but I'm hoping that for example the little SCA group, which
literally is an extended family largely
SkyeDS: won't manifest the same problems as drandmir and now barad
    duin
evile: smaller groups tend to be easier to manage & don't develop the
    in crowd/out crowd thing
    SkyeDS: it was kinda cool
SkyeDS: monday night I was loaded up and about to head to the park
SkyeDS: when two vehicles came up the driveway, and everyone from the
    park piled out.
SkyeDS: what's voyagers doing this month that is interesting?
evile: a demo on sensual massage, byo towels & oils. :)
    SkyeDS: oh yeah
    SkyeDS: definitely should attend
evile: Ladydreamtime's lending me a partner, so I even have someone to play
    with.
evile: Poly people are so handy like that :P
SkyeDS: I should know better than to ask, because all I do anymore
    just about is work
SkyeDS: but when and where is it?
    evile: It's 7pm Saturday, at P & J's house. I don't have
directions but I have politely RSVP'ed as instructed & hopefully will
    have direx soon.
SkyeDS: I'm not an official member of gwnn, could I still go?
evile: I don't see why not.
evile: Kaleon's on the Voyagers yahoo group, he may have attended a
voyagers party and even have directions to the location & stuff.
SkyeDS: I haven't spoken to him nor he to me since the last fallout
    evile: bummer.
SkyeDS: and I was advised by both sonar0m and sineater that until he msgs me, I
    shouldn't waste effort on him
evile: Hell, I wouldn't even waste effort on him after he made the
first move. But I'm mean like that.
SkyeDS: I'm sure he thinks I'm mean
SkyeDS: but he did the usual
    SkyeDS: completely fabricated shit
SkyeDS: got more emotional than the hottest headed thoroughbred
SkyeDS: and I just kept quietly responding, I'm sorry you feel that
way. I did not do/say that. I'm not responsible for your feelings."
evile: You know...he has such a big problem with you being poly...why
doesn't he just go find himself a nice monogamous girl and settle
down instead of putting everyone through all this nonsense?
SkyeDS: because, his favorite game is you did/said something, and I'm
    emotional about it.
SkyeDS: and "no, I did not do/say that"
SkyeDS: only draws a response of "well I feel like you did"
SkyeDS: so he can play the "don't invalidate my feelings" card
SkyeDS: and I have started quietly replying, well, I'm sorry yo u
feel that way, but I'm not responsible for your feelings.
SkyeDS: to which he said if you loved me you would care about my
    feelings
    SkyeDS: and I walked out
SkyeDS: and he hasn't emailed or called or msged since then, so I
    haven't either.
evile: I have put up with plenty of nonsense from various pets in the
past, but you gotta draw a line somewhere. The constant drama gets
old and doesn't seem to have any kind of healing outcome or
    resolution.
SkyeDS: you wouldn't believe the drama this last time
SkyeDS: which is the reason I haven't even worried about it
SkyeDS: I hardly have time anymore
evile: well, duh. :) I *Know* you have plenty of irons in the fire
    right now.
SkyeDS: I bend over backwards for him, and he doesn't seem to notice
much less appreciate, and then he completely fabricates things so he
can get all hotheaded. well, enjoy being hotheaded, because frankly
my dear, I just don't give a damn anymore
SkyeDS: when you're done being hotheaded, I'll start letting you know
where I am and when, and if you want to join me you can.
SkyeDS: but I am not going to his house alone anymore
    SkyeDS: maybe not ever again
    evile: smart move.
SkyeDS: and if he doesn't want to come to mine because he can't be
bothered to keep his car maintained or because sineater makes him
    uncomfortable, oh well.
SkyeDS: and if he doesn't like my friends and for whatever reason
(hurtful to my feelings) he doesn't want to include/invite me to meet
    his, oh well.
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I just live too damn far away to make effort to rearrange my
schedule, and inherently by doing so, M & E's, drive an hour to see
him, have him go off on me, and drive back home at 5 am on a work
    night.
    evile: yuck.
SkyeDS: thereby upsetting of course sineater and Arthur, because ther eis
no way to get in the house and go to bed without waking them up
SkyeDS: whole bedsharing thing ya know
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I will find their webpage or whatever and get details and
rsvp and all that good stuff
evile: I'm shopping all day Sat. w/aunt L, but hopefully should be done
in plenty of time to get to the party on time.
SkyeDS: and if he's there he is, and if not...but I don't think he
will be, but I don't care if I sound mean, but I really don't care
    either way
evile: As far as I know, kaleon came to a couple of munches early on
but hasn't been to any of the play parties or anything. Odds are good
    he won't show.
SkyeDS: I will probably have bird and horses in tow, it's certainly
late enough to be after the park, but depending on how long it is,
the horses and bird can stay parked for a while, they're used to it
evile: May want to check with the hosts to make sure it's cool to
leave 'em parked outside. Apparently this is a new house & new
neighbors & they're trying to start off on the right foot with them.
    SkyeDS: ah...house...nods...different parking situation
SkyeDS: going to be interesting if the neighbors notice parties with
    people dressed...interestingly...
evile: yeah, out at the play party location, there are a bazillion
horse trailers (empty), so no biggie.
SkyeDS: I'm kind of tired of being hidebound to the park anyway
SkyeDS: I intend to leave BD as soon as Kathleen's reign is over
evile: In a neighborhood it's a little different. In *my*
neighborhood, your children would probably be taken for joyrides by
    hoodlums.
SkyeDS: hoodlum gets hold of Jezebel, Jezebel declares war on him, he
gets hurt, and I probably get sued and lose.
evile: yup. The other night Sweetie & I were coming back from dinner &
saw a local hoodie child trying the doors on his Trooper, parked in
the street in front of the house. hoodie child almost lost fingers &
    toes.
    SkyeDS: almost?
evile: real close, but Sweetie didn't actually hit im with the VW.
SkyeDS: lol why the hell not
evile: Probably didn't want to ding the car.
SkyeDS: hoodle run away before cops were called I suppose
evile: oh, he was gone the second we pulled up.
SkyeDS: what a reassuring thing to come home to.
    evile: no shit right?
SkyeDS: Connie and I would be perfectly happy now if we could just
get rid of neighbor Uncle Levi
SkyeDS: but then you never know what might wander in off the highway
    either
    evile: true.
SkyeDS: and none of my male acquaintances want me to have a H&K MP5
    for home protection
    SkyeDS: (a lovely submachine gun)
SkyeDS: you would look lovely accessorized with a pair of Glocks ya
know (scary thought to everyone else of course)
evile: I wasn't raised to be comfortable around guns. my mom was a
    hippie, ya know.
SkyeDS: you have too many vehicles to put them all in the garage, so
    dunno what to do
SkyeDS: and home security systems are not cheap nor even effective
    all the time
evile: Every once in a while Sweetie gets a wild hair and goes looking
for storage space/garage for them. Once my wagon is gone, at least
everyone will have room in hte driveway.
SkyeDS: brb, got to fax something (which means disconnecting and
reconnecting because the fax and isp are on the same line)
    evile: ok

    SkyeDS: bk
    evile: wb :)
SkyeDS: you could park them with us but of course we are 60 miles
    away.
SkyeDS: pro/con - free vs not free, distance vs. close, etc
    evile: yup.
evile: I think ideally he'd like a multi-car garage (like an old
service station or something) close to home.
evile: 2nd choice would be to get a plot of land & put a big ugly
metal building on it to put cars & junk in.
evile: I am too busy keeping my foot down on the puppy issue to fuss
much about the cars right now.
SkyeDS: Bob has his hands full with a border collie puppy
SkyeDS: there are so many breeds I love, big, little, indoor and out,
I wouldn't know where to start with puppybuying/stray adopting-
    rescuing process
evile: Dogs are great, but they're a lot of work. And they do need
people to be at home more than sweetoe & I would be.
SkyeDS: well if he keeps coming home to hoodles messing with his
cars, I imagine he'll get motivated on his own.
SkyeDS: but ya'll are more than welcome to park at our place
SkyeDS: and of course park yourselves any time too (but the house
isn't clean yet, but if that doesn't bother you)
evile: thanks :) I'll let him know :)
evile: (obviously you haven't seen our house lately.)
SkyeDS: it's going to take a long time to get the land clean. I
haven't even managed to get my original acreage clean and now I have
    nearly four times as much.
SkyeDS: your house has never that I've seen it looked like mine on an
    average day
evile: Sweetie's sister & husband (you met them a couple of thanksgivings
ago when he was still the fiance) will be here for SXSW. The house
will be clean soon for them, I hope.
SkyeDS: when you want to come over let me know and I'll send you
    directions
SkyeDS: or if you can cut and paste I can give them now
SkyeDS: or I could email them and then you'd have them in a record of
    sorts
evile: Whichever's most convenient for you :)
SkyeDS: I felt very bad about the house when the SCA dropped in
SkyeDS: they didn't go in the house because they were visiting the
Lord Marshall's horse, but all the same, I invited them in, and was
    embarassed
SkyeDS: the girls are tickled because Mom brought them home a pretty
boy. I told them enjoy it while you can, because he's just a loaner.
evile: Yeah, when The Rubber Pit & brother A dropped by last weekend & I was sick
as a dog on the couch, I felt pretty embarassed, too.
SkyeDS: there are many ways to get to 79N from Austin
evile: In a way, it's kind of like, you show up without an
invitation, you get what you deserve. But you don't want people
thinking you're a complete slob, either...
SkyeDS: you can go up the interstate and take exit 253 (dell diamond)
and that will put you on 79
SkyeDS: you can take 290 out toward Houston and take FM 973 all the
way up to 79N. Or Hwy 95 all the way up to 79N.
SkyeDS: or you can take 290 to Parmer, and Parmer to 79N (in Hutto).
973 and 95 put you on the loop around Taylor.
SkyeDS: but regardless of how you get to 79, you take 79N to
Rockdale. There is a loop around taylor that you can take or not,
but it's less confusing to take it.
    evile: Ok
SkyeDS: and when you get close to rockdale, there is one grass
median, with a sign that says Rockdale 6 miles, and then the sign for
CR 306. Our driveway goes all t he way from CR 306 to connect with
79 where the grass median is.
SkyeDS: so what I do, because of the condition of the driveway, is to
turn around after the grass median goes away, and take the 79 driveway
SkyeDS: which has a red reflector on it
SkyeDS: (soon hopefully a ranch sign which I'm going to make out of
the old realtor's sign since he doesn't seem to want it back)
    evile: cool.
SkyeDS: I do my uturn right after the median goes away, which I'm
sure is illegal. You'd probably want to turn at the left turn lane
for 306, and rather than do 306 (we're the first driveway on the left
off 306, and there is a mailbox with our address on it there)
    evile: Ok.
SkyeDS: do a uturn from that lane.
SkyeDS: or you could just follow me home some day
SkyeDS: although everyone has used those directions quite
    successfully.
SkyeDS: it isn't polite to just show up without calling
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: but it would be nice to have home be clean enough so that you
don't feel embarassed when someone does
SkyeDS: I was quite tickled at my unexpected visitors Monday night,
    that was cool
SkyeDS: of course, I was on my way to go see them anyway, and it
    wasn't a bad time
evile: I don't even answer the door if I'm not expecting people.
evile: Unfo, brother A has a key. I will need that back from him before he
moves to San Antonio for good.
evile: I have no problem with him having access to the house, but I
don't want the Rubber Pig rummaging around in here.
evile: She doesn't seem to have any clue about socially acceptable
behavior. Did I tell you she told aunt L that she needed to paint the
    inside of her house??
evile: And she tried to tell Sweetie & I that we have foundation problems
(we do not.) and she knows this guy and she'd be happy to send him
    over, bla bla. Good lord.
SkyeDS: she told aunt L what???
evile: She said "You shouldn't be afraid of color!!"
evile: Aunt L said she liked her walls jus the way they are, thanks.
SkyeDS: no telling what she's going to think of the redneck heaven
I'm living in (which is quite lovely inside but looks like the
doublewide it is on the outside)
evile: BTW, Aunt L is throwing her a lingerie shower. If I've got to
suffer through it, you're coming too. :P
SkyeDS: if you want to add insult to injury I of course am happy to
    go wherever you lead
SkyeDS: but are you sure you want to deal with her and me at the same
time? in that we both are better in th e smallest doses possible?
evile: Well, if you've never met her, it'll be hard for us to talk
dirt abou ther, now, won't it? :P
SkyeDS: I will try very hard (I always do anyway) not to get on
nerves that will already be frayed
evile: I came about ><this close to siccing X on her. Sort of a
whole "Payback" scenario. The only thing that stopped me was that the
big confrontation would have taken place at L&B's and I wouldn't do
    that to them.
SkyeDS: I have never heard of a lingerie shower. And I can't afford
shopping for me right now much less someone else. But when is it?
SkyeDS: how would you sic X on anyone without suffering damage
    yourself.
evile: No idea. I am hoping that Aunt L was only kidding, or that this
will be one of the many things she says she's gonna do but doesn't
    get round to it.
SkyeDS: ....isn't t hat kind of like buying someone underwear...?
evile: Rubber Pig, brother A, Pigs 3 kids, Uncle Bubba, his wife Ursula, were
all going to be at L& B's for dinner Saturday. I was tempted to
write X a very tearful email telling her I feel so bad about
treating her mean & begging her to come over Saturday night and let
me make it up to her. Saturday night I was at dinner & a play
elsewhere. I'd never ever do that, but the mental picture amused me
    for hours.
evile: I have no idea what a lingerie shower is. It sounds
    unbelievably tacky, whatever it is.
evile: the Rubber Pig also told aunt L when/where she waxes her body hair AND
said she doesn't wear tacky underwaer, but then bent over for
something and showed off her thong-ed butt to god and the world.
SkyeDS: I guess it is possible to be more of a bull in the social
    china closet than I am.
SkyeDS: <still marveling at it though.
evile: I have seen you make a LOT of effort in that area, though.
the Rubber Pig doesn't seem to care that she's inappropriate and offensive and
talky. She just writes it off as 'that's just me'....
evile: Everyone has their quirks. I can be obnoxious and offensive,
too. I go into 'I'm talking and I can't shut up' mode. It happens.
SkyeDS: LOL that's a cute way to put it, never heard that one before
evile: But where you or I would recognize "gee, last time I hung out
with the polys/whatever I was obnoxious. I'll try harder this
    time"...the Pig doesn't.
SkyeDS: I could see conversations like that happening between you and
me, because we've been family a long time
SkyeDS: but I don't know Aunt L well enough to have "family"
    discussions with her
SkyeDS: and The Pig surely sure as hell hasn't known aunt L well enough
    or long enough
    evile: Exactly.
evile: On the plus side, I plan on making Hurricanes for the lingerie
    shower, if it happens :)
SkyeDS: I'm not buying a stranger lingerie
    evile: me neither.
evile: OTOH, we could go to Wal Mart and buy some size 67 grannie
    panties. That might be funny.
SkyeDS: I haven't had a chance to examine my gift closely but I have
peeked into the bag, and it all looks wonderful ty ty ty :)
SkyeDS: you would venture the evil WM? wow.
evile: cool. :) I love that brand of soap--the lavender smelled very
fresh & herbal (my favorite). I got the same brand in Sandalwood for
    me. It's yum.
evile: I'd have to go to wal mart in order to have the bag to use as
wrapping paper for the Pig's grannie panties, you see... :P
evile: 100% polyester. And maybe tie on a little tube of yeast
    infection medicine for good measure.
evile: bet you didn't know my talent for finding 'perfect' gifts had
a dark side, did you? :P
evile: I would never do that in RL, but it's funny to talk about.
    SkyeDS: igh
SkyeDS: oh well, better than no access at all I suppose
SkyeDS: what is last was said?
    evile: true enough.
I think I said I would never really do anything that awful at the Pig's
lingerie shower. But it's funny to talk about.
SkyeDS: there aren't any vanilla mundanes in your work or other
acquaintance with sprogs they would be interested in having riding
    lessons for are there?
SkyeDS: (or not vanilla/not mundanes for that matter)
evile: Not that I know of, but if you want me to print your webpage
and put it up where I can at work, I will. (break rooms & my desk,
    basically)
SkyeDS: I was wondering if I might nto ought to give you a business
    card
SkyeDS: I don't expect you to do mass marketing for me :P~~~
evile: I'd be happy to do what I can. Starting a business is tough.
marketing is very difficult. If I can help get you a customer, I
    should.
SkyeDS: the business card has my webpage on it, and the webpage has
the same information the flyer has on it, so the card should suffice,
    no?
    evile: sure :)
SkyeDS: are they any closer to her becoming a more permanent part of
    the family...?
evile: The wedding is set for July 10 in San Antonio. No word yet on
whether the divorce is final, and I haven't seen an official invite
    yet...but that's what I know.
SkyeDS: well then. guess that's that.
SkyeDS: if the situation was other than what it is, I would offer to
    play.
SkyeDS: but I doubt that would be wanted or appreciated, so I won't.
evile: I still don't know why there's such a big rush.
SkyeDS: I played at Phyl's funeral for Aeris to sing.
evile: I am not volunteering for anything, either. I sense far too
    many 'Bridezilla" tendencies there.
    SkyeDS: no thanks.
evile: I'm sure Phyl's kids & Bob were all very sweet and gracious
and didn't treat you like the hired help and diva around making your
life miserable. It's good to be open-hearted and give when you can
what you can...but not to people who are just going to suck you up
and spit you out again, ya know?
SkyeDS: specially not where my music is concerned
SkyeDS: I have a much thicker skin than I used to have, but still
    evile: exactly.
evile: Honestly, best advice I can give you re: The Rubber Pig, is not to
appear to have anything she wants/needs. Don't mention your skills &
talents because she is the kind of person who tends to assume things
    rather than ask
SkyeDS: that shouldn't be a problem
SkyeDS: my talents and skills don't seem to be immediately apparent
to most, much to my chagrin most of the time
evile: it's a fine line to walk, that whole 'hiding your light'
vs 'tooting your horn' thing. You don't want to be arrogant but you
don't want to be dismissed, either.
SkyeDS: I am in t he habit of mentioning whatever I'm capable of
contributing when the need seems to be present
SkyeDS: no need to catalog my various resumes in the meanwhile
    evile: right :)
evile: My latest talent seems to be introducing people to things they
didn't know they were interested in.
SkyeDS: it engenders a lot of "I didn't know that about you" ...
well, you never asked, or the subject never came up.
    evile: heh. Yup.
SkyeDS: that's fun though, facilitating new happiness that way, I
love that, it happens to me sometimes
SkyeDS: I am a satellite of so many different interest groups, they
blend here and there, and it's always interesting where and who
evile: it's happened to me twice in the last week, and It really has
made me feel good. Poly-group J told me he would not have joined
body choir if I had not introduced him to Z Helene & if he hadn't
taken her class. Rengeek said he had a bunch of assumptions about
Poly that I've dispersed for him & now he wants to hang out with the
    Houston polys :)
SkyeDS: Z is teaching? sigh...something else I wish I had time to
do. I have professional dancing friends --
SkyeDS: one is Acadiana who you've seen at the skating rink
SkyeDS: and the other is Tracie, sineater's friend Mike's mother, who is
also a retired pharmacist and does olympic level dressage.
evile: Z Helene has one class at ACC she teaches and then she also
has private students. About 6 of the poly group folks got together
and took private lessons from her for a couple weeks last summer.
SkyeDS: she has tapes I should ask her if I could copy, or the names
of so I can buy them
    evile: Definitely.
SkyeDS: everyone always expresses surprise that I have my fingers in
    so many pies at once
    SkyeDS: I don't know why
SkyeDS: Tracie is a pharmacist, a dressage equestrienne and a belly
    dancer
SkyeDS: most people I know are multifaceted that way, professional or
otherwise (Tracie is also a Gemini too)
evile: Oh, Poly group Z is having a 'southern living' thing next
Sunday a.m. (14th) if you're interested. Brunch and Mimosas & looking
    at girly home stuff.
    evile: (speaking of Z's)
SkyeDS: all I need now is an antebellum/victorian home, and I have
got the southern living thing down pat.
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: I like Jim Walter's Victorian model but there are a lot of
hate sites about JW. And since Victorian is an architectural
standard, maybe I could get similar elsewhere
SkyeDS: I would really love something that looks like the San
Francisco Marqham doll house in Hobby Lobby.
evile: I was really impressed with an architect I met at the home &
garden show on Valentines day. He works with steelframe/green
building, but a lot of his plans are very traditional-looking once he
    gets done.
SkyeDS: or, alternately, a replica of that Palladio villa (the name
eludes me at the moment) would be lovely
evile: here is the info on the Southern Living thingy:
    http://www.livejournal.com/users/ladystorm/20764.html
SkyeDS: my entire home has an energy star rating, and I spend no more
on electricity now than I used to in half the square footage, and no
more in water evne with the horses.
evile: Our bills are better in the house than they were in the duplex.
SkyeDS: your house is so beautiful, the ceiling fan in the dining
room, nice kitchen, beautiful fire place, and awesome bathroom
mirror, and the backyard on the creek.
evile: It is needing some work/help, and I'm coming to find out that
it's me or nobody whose gonna do it. That's a little disappointing,
    but oh well.
SkyeDS: Sineater tries very hard to keep the property picked up outside
    SkyeDS: but it's overwhelming
    evile: I'm sure!
SkyeDS: even moreso now that it's 11 acres and not 3
    evile: I bet.
SkyeDS: I think I may have a clean up party, invite the SCA, the HFS,
Kelly & the Kids, offer to make barbecue, order pizza, or whatever I
have to do as an incentive.
SkyeDS: I've told everyone many times that I'm happy to host outdoor
    stuff for them.
    evile: that would be good
SkyeDS: I didn't even know this until I walked the entire property
the other day for the first time, but it's bounded by a creek
    evile: awesome :)
SkyeDS: in addition to the pond, which is shallow enough through one
    end to ride through
SkyeDS: might be nice to get a canoe.
SkyeDS: too small for a sailboat
    evile: canoes are fun.
SkyeDS: if Sweetie does the fishing thing or the canoeing thing we can
    accommodate that though
SkyeDS: and the little overlook where the previous owners were
fishing would be an ideal place to camp. Electric and water included.
evile: Hm. I've never seen him. We've been tubing on the Guadalupe,
    that's about it.
SkyeDS: Randy says that the pond is clean enough to swim in. I don't
know that I would want to, but that's just me.
evile: I don't much care for still water, even if it's clean.
SkyeDS: I like pristine lakes, rivers, and pools, I'm picky
    evile: me too.
evile: There are even times I'll go to bull creek park & not swim
SkyeDS: ya'll should come out sometime when it's nice and investigate
SkyeDS: please ignore the trash sigh
evile: heh. I'll tell Sweetie he's got another place to take the vanagon
    camping :)
evile: I had a coworker get my knickers in a twist this a.m. talking
about disposing of unwanted kittens 'out on the dirt roads'...I
    just 'bout lost it.
SkyeDS: I might have killed him myself
evile: her actually. But..jeez, bad enough when people throw garbage
out on rural property, but...animals. GRR.
evile: She seemed to think it was no big thing to trash little
animals, but someone who invoked the baby moses law and left their
newborn at the fire station was just evil. WTF is wrong with people?
SkyeDS: she holds both those views?
    evile: indeed.
SkyeDS: let me guess, she's either pro euthanasia and pro life or
    vice versa (also conflicting views)
evile: I try very hard not to speak or listen to her. She just makes
    my head hurt.
    SkyeDS: aye
evile: Time to bring the voodoo powders to work again, I guess.
SkyeDS: lots of stupid clients we have too
evile: Just do the nod & smile and then talk smack about 'em later, I
    guess.
SkyeDS: the kitten killer makes me sad that his mother didn't opt for
    abortion as birth control
    evile: no crap, right?
evile: Or why not be responsible and neuter your pets if you have no
intention of taking care of the babies.
SkyeDS: Uncle Levi has two more dogs left
SkyeDS: a full pit and a half pit
SkyeDS: and one of them has mange
SkyeDS: I'm wondering if the horses could catch mange from the dog
SkyeDS: and I bet neither of them has shots
SkyeDS: and he has four trailers on one septic tank, which I'm sure
    isn't legal either
    evile: ew.
SkyeDS: I know that Connie's dogs could catch mange even if the
    horses can't
SkyeDS: I think I'll mention that to her incase she hasn't noticed
    evile: good plan.
SkyeDS: her husband is a good shot with his 3030
evile: you hate to see it come to that...but yeah.
SkyeDS: I don't want to see my friends' children tangle with a mangy
    pitbull either
    evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: and when I start giving lessons and having boarders, I can't
    have that on my property
SkyeDS: an d they don't keep him leashed
evile: You hate to see an animal suffer because of irresponsible
owners, but you've got to protect your own, too.
SkyeDS: that will mean another call to t he county
SkyeDS: connie already called them about the attacks on their dogs,
and the county said, shoot them
    evile: nice.
SkyeDS: a mangy pitbull is not an attack exactly
SkyeDS: but it is a threat
evile: especially if the owner isn't taking any responsibility.
    SkyeDS: call county
SkyeDS: look, I don't know if they've had shots, and I know the pit
    has mange
SkyeDS: you come out here and take care of it, or I will
    evile: ugh.
SkyeDS: every time I have to deal with Uncle Levi I get nervous about
    dead horses though
    evile: oh, very bad.
SkyeDS: even though Wayne (connie's DH) shot their healer/pit cross,
I was afraid of what they'd do if they thought it was us and we don't
    even have a gun
    evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: luckily he thought someone kidnapped it or the shepherd (the
    problem) got it
    evile: how awful.
SkyeDS: I will just mention to connie that something should be done
hint hint about the pit with mange, for her dogs, and my horses, and
see if wayne won't take care of it
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I didn't know mange was so zoonotic, but web search shows it
is zoonotic to both horses and humans. lovely.
evile: I knew people could get it.Didn't know about the horses. yucko.
evile: 1 hour until I am outta here!!! I need to go get info about
Krav Maga & Poly dinner's tonight, too. Can't wait to be done with
    work.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Are your new acres fenced yet? Do you think that'd solve the
    dog problem?
SkyeDS: electric tape fence doesn't stop dogs
    evile: too bad.
SkyeDS: otherwise they wouldn't be a problem now (tape fence already
    in place)
    SkyeDS: it's very simple
SkyeDS: they keep their dogs off my place, or they don't keep their
    dogs
evile: It doesn't sound like they care about the animals or take care
of them. I hate to see stuff like that.
    SkyeDS: me too :(
evile: That's the thing about living in the country, I guess. You
have to get tough & take care of things yourself.
    SkyeDS: there aren't leash laws
SkyeDS: so if your dogs run around, we can't make you put them on a
    leash
SkyeDS: but we can keep thme off our property if you don't
    evile: yeah
evile: and if they're being neglected that badly by their owner, it
would almost be a blessing...sad to say.
SkyeDS: if we weren't dealing with pits I'd just take them to a pound
evile: I don't think they'll accept obviously diseased animals at
most shelters. I could be wrong.
    SkyeDS: no, you're probably right
evile: with the fact that mange is contagious & zoo-whatever, I doubt
it would be an acceptable risk fo rthe shelter to take them in.
SkyeDS: so there isn't really anything humane I can do
evile: Not if the owner won't take care of his own animals. No. Sad
to say, you've got to protect your own critters & family members
here, whatever it takes to do that.
evile: The fact that your neighbor is a good shot is probably the
most humane thing that can happen at this point...
    SkyeDS: :-/
evile: especially if the elected officials won't take any action.
    That's so rude, IMHO.
SkyeDS: they can only do what county law allows
evile: Would it be different if the animals were running on county-
maintained roads? Maybe you could call them while the dogs are
    running the roads or something.
SkyeDS: don't know, will ask them
evile: would be nice to see people doing work instead of just using
their titles to be assholes to you.
evile: Hey, I'm a bureaucrat, and I know that there's lots of things
that aren't my job and I'm not paid to do...but the very least I can
do when someone asks me to do something I can't do is to point them
in the right direction. Lots of people just don't seem to want to
    bother.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Maybe all public servants just need shock collars or
something. As soon as they give 'tude for no reason or say 'it's not
my job' they get a jolt...
    SkyeDS: lol
evile: I just hate to see people being rude, nasty, and lazy on MY
dime. People should be outraged, and they just kind of shrug it off
as if it s to be expected.
evile: me, personally, I tolerate the crap in person, but then I'm
likely to write ugly letters to the guy's boss after the fact...
SkyeDS: I get very cranky very fast where my money is concerned
SkyeDS: I'm going to be doing some letter writing soon about this
    past weekend
SkyeDS: I want to know what discretionary law is, and I want the city
council an d mayor to tell me
SkyeDS: and thten I'm going to inform them that I will no longer be
spending my money in their economy
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: a conversation I will soon have with rockdale too
    SkyeDS: but even better
SkyeDS: I earn money in austin, I spend it here
evile: FWIW, I thought you did a great job of staying calm & cool on
Sunday. In your shoes, I woulda freaked.
SkyeDS: I bring in money, not only from rockdale to recirculate to
rockdale, but from anyone traveling the triangle corridors
SkyeDS: I'm a member of the chamber of commerce
SkyeDS: and the SCA which is service oriented and we do nice things
    for people
SkyeDS: so please tell the cops to leave me alone

SkyeDS: or I will take my money somewhere else
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I probably wasn't as meek as I should have been
SkyeDS: but a couple of things aggravated me greatly
SkyeDS: which is why I'm not letting it go until I write letters to
the mayor and the entire council
SkyeDS: I doubt anything will come of it but I will feel like I did a
little something at least
evile: yup
SkyeDS: the city manager needs to learn not to be so rude when
conducting city business
SkyeDS: ditto the parks manager
evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: and I'm sorry, but I've been a paralegal since 89, and Hugh a
lawyer since 77, and neither of us has ever heard of discretionary or
word of mouth code
evile: that was ridiculous.
SkyeDS: they need to put it in writing. on the web, post it in the
park, but I don't believe the administrators (and that's all those
two men are) have the authority to do what they did Sunday
evile: And could have been resolved far in advance if they'd bothered
to reply to your request, with a "no" which you could have then
accomodated or decided not to make the trip at all...
SkyeDS: exactly. I contact them by phone and in writing before I
visit, every single time
evile: That's what bugged me, it was so totally avoidable.
SkyeDS: and the police have waved at us in a friendly manner every
time they've driven past before.
SkyeDS: normally the police don't say squat if there isn't a
complaint, and there was no one in the park but us to be complaining
evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: time to go home?
evile: just about. I should go drop off papers & such.
SkyeDS: hugs
evile: Good luck with everything ;)
SkyeDS: travel safely, has been raining
evile: Yup. Maybe see ya Saturday at the voyager party?
SkyeDS: hopefully
evile: :) cool.
SkyeDS: have to see what I'll do with the children
