3153My weekend so far

Woke up around 7:30 Saturday a.m., showered, dressed, and went to
Yoga Yoga, where I met up with <lj user="onyxlynxx">, who gave me a
tiny little EEK lunchbox full of S&M's!! (<a
href="http://us.mms.com/us/mpire/">Dark Chocolate M&Ms</a>--Onyx
calls them S&Ms because they're bruise-colored, Sweetie calls
them "Bear M&Ms" because the colors remind him of the <a
href="http://www.bearmfg.com/Gift%20Products_files/flagpad.jpg">Bear
Flag</a>.)
And then we did Yoga. What a way to start the day! Ms. Onyx got
herself a 20 class pass, so I imagine we'll be doing more yoga
together. That makes me happy.
I ran a couple of errands after class, including a trip to the PO
box. I got a notice about getting a new Drivers License. They're $24
now. They were $16 when I got my first license. How the times do
change!
Sweetie and I then got ready for his friend B's weddng at 4. We took
the Ghia out to Bastrop State Park. It was a gorgeous day to be out
driving in a tiny car. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and I
think it was all of 70 degrees. Glad I wore sunscreen!
The ceremony was out behind the refectory, a very short but quite
lovely and meaningful ceremony. There were 2 MOH's and 2 Best Men,
one of whom was also the officiant. Then there were 3 bridesmaids and
3 groomsmen. The groomsmen were in light khacki slacks and very light
mint green long sleeve shirts, with striped ties that picked up the
green and khacki, and also had some darker brown. They looked great.
The bridesmaids were all in knee-length lavender dresses, with
matching shoes. Each dress was a different style, to flatter the
different body-types of the bridesmaids. The 3 'regular' bridesmaids
carried bouquets made with 5 yellow tulips tied with a lavender
ribbon, and then the main MOH had 2 big pink daisies in her
bouquet, and then the bride's was tulips, daisies, and some dark
purple orchids. The moms and grandmoms had corsages of yellow tulips
and the fathers and grandfathers had boutonniers of purple orchids.
The cake was lavender with purple orchids, too. It looked really nice.
The groom was in a very light khacki/straw colored silk suit, he
looked GREAT.
The groomsmen came in first, from the right, and then the bridesmaids
came in from the left. Then the bride and her parents were driven in
on a horse carriage (that didn't seem to go off so well, the horse
didn't seem to want to go whree it was supposed to, so they ended up
getting off the carriage off to the left rear of the audience, then
walking to the middle aisle...if it had been me I would have had the
carriage drive to the back of the audience and drop me right off at
the center aisle. but anyway, it looked nice)
The bride was in a white silk gauzy floor length dress with little
rhinestones on the bodice and on the butt & on the spaghetti straps
that crisscrossed in the back. There was a little train, but not so
much that she couldn't walk in it, and there was a button on the back
so that she buttoned it up later when she was dancing.
OH also the bride and bridesmaids had flip flop sandals that they
changed into after the ceremony--the bride's were white and the
bridesmaids were lavender with little flowers. Very cute.
The officiant greeted everyone, and at some point the groom's mom
threw rose petals around them in a circle --that was in the program
as 'rose ceremony' but I didn't really hear anything being said that
explained the ceremony....oh well. Then the dad said a prayer, one of
the Co-MOH's sang, and hte officiant told the families to support the
marriage and made them promise never to talk shit about the bride or
groom, and then told the bride and groom to be committed to making
life good for one another, then they did vows and went off in the
carriage. Then the bar was opened and the bridesmaids handed out
paper cones full of flower petals--the paper cones were 2 shades of
lavender, with little heart ink-stamps and lavender ribbons around
the cone with little white ribbon flower-buds hot glued on the
outside. When the couple came back, we threw flowers on them. Then
was dinner & then the toast, and then the cake-cutting. The groom's
cake was white cake, also, with white icing and green icing
shamrocks. later in the night there was an 'elimination dance' where
the DJ said "If you've been married less than 24 hours, leave the
stage" and kep going like that until the last couple dancing had been
together 34 yrs, and everyone cheered and applauded.
It was a super nice ceremony, very sweet, and I think traditional
enough to make the parents and grandparents happy, but individual
enough to make the couple happy, too.
We stayed until a bit after 9, got home around 10, and I was too
tired to go to Robie's party. Oh well.
the only thing I didn't really like was the bridesmaid's hair--lots
of sausage curls and hairspray, not very pretty on anyone but the one
dark haired bridesmaid.
