evile: happy hump day.
SkyeDS: to you too :)
evile: Poly dinner at Threadgills tonight :)
SkyeDS: have fun. am going straight home. I know, I'm no fun.
evile: *shrug* you gotta take care of you first. I totally get that.
SkyeDS: Gramma wants me to buy the 1.4 acres out from under the white
trash if I can possibly talk them into selling. They keep making
noises about it.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: so I send sineater over there (the old man refuses to talk to me
because I'm a woman) and nobody's ever home (conveniently)
SkyeDS: to find out what they're asking for it.
evile: ugh. how annoying!
SkyeDS: and the parentals may be coming back this weekend to put up a
storage building and put more caliche on my very long (more than 1000
ft) driveway
evile: wow. That's cool of them.
SkyeDS: sineater has job, if I can acquire the land out from under the
white trash, life would be pretty damn good.
evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: soon as his paychecks start coming EFT, I'm going to switch
our mortgage to bimonthly EFT, which will save us a few years and a
few thousand dollars sans refi
evile: good deal :)
SkyeDS: will refi as soon as possible but I think we're going ot have
to pay it down some more and get sineater's employment history stable (6
months at least)
evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: the National Bank of Gramma called this morning and demanded
that I find out what the White Trash want for their place, right then
and there - I was on my way out the door to work
evile: OMG....she's a strong minded lil thing, isn't she? :)
SkyeDS: her sun is in Pisces, don't know where the rest of her chart
is
evile: heh. I'd bet some earth in there.
SkyeDS: but she is very set in her ways...that may be an old person
thing too.
evile: *nod* yeah.
SkyeDS: I keep trying to explain to people that the older you get,
the more you have "nurture" (how life experience affects you)
than "nature" (what you were born doing - your chart)
evile: Yup.
evile: I keep smacking into this 'do what you love & the money will
follow' philosophy...but I can't think of a single way to make money
off of sleeping, eating, traveling, and buying shoes.
SkyeDS: only thing that comes to mind is Travel Agent and/or
Freelance Travel Article Writing
evile: Unfo I am much too security minded to do freelance anything...
evile: and the travel industry is still in the crapper post-9/11.
evile: I'm 1/3 of the way thru the ACC travel agent 'certification'.
(the easy third)
SkyeDS: :)
evile: If it ever looks like anybodys hiring travel agents again,
I'll go back for the other classes.
SkyeDS: I would like that job, I think
evile: *nod* me too.
SkyeDS: I know there are a lot of people that work as indi TAs at home
SkyeDS: but Clark Howard was saying (he started out in that industry)
that it's still better to work in an office for someone else first
evile: back to the security thing :P
SkyeDS: for the experience
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: as it turns out sineater had already heard from [dad] that he's
home.
evile: that's good.
SkyeDS: and, I am going to forward to you all of the party invites
that I see on the drandmir list, that I don't see on HFSCR
SkyeDS: if I can remember. I'm going to try, anyway.
SkyeDS: do you want Craft Nights too?
evile: I'm groveling again for the 'privilege' of reading drandmir
yahoo group. I think the crafts night thing gets posted to HFSOOC,
which I still read.
SkyeDS: I know Steve's 80s party got posted to hfscr, much later
than to drandmir, however
evile: *nod*
evile: I havent' felt much like being crafty lately...
SkyeDS: I need to seriously revamp and make new barding
evile: that's a big project!
SkyeDS: but fixing the sewing machine needle just hasn't been real
high priority lately
SkyeDS: would almost rather buy barding
evile: Yeah...
evile: That's 3 parties on Saturday, plus maybe a picnic. I"d be a
fool to ignore the Universe trying to tell me to get out of the house
and socialize...
SkyeDS: may be
evile: (thanks for forwarding that to me, bTW)
SkyeDS: yw
evile: I wouldn't even know where to start looking for pre-made horse
barding. ebay has arabian native costume, but other than that...
SkyeDS: sca sites
evile: *nod* I guess so.
evile: With a pattern, it would not be so bad.
SkyeDS: my progblem is that I don't have time or inclination to
fix/work with sewing machine
evile: *nod* I know that feeling. I have bobbin issues myself.
SkyeDS: I have a hard time winding bobbins on my machine, a nd for
some reason, I have the instructions for a machine that ISN'T mine.
evile: that's odd.
evile: I wonder if you could order the correct manual from the
company. Or maybe find it at a fabric store...?
SkyeDS: or online
evile: yeah. that too.
evile: LJ friend-of-friend got a new baby yesterday.
http://crimsonvision.net/morro.htm
SkyeDS: :)
evile: Quite a lovely creature...& the horse ain't bad, neither.
SkyeDS: looks like Black Jack
evile: I wouldn't know.
SkyeDS: pretty horse, pretty girl, and horse is big for mustang
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: spanish mustangs are excellent horses
SkyeDS: can do just about anything athletically
evile: are they normally gaited, or is Morro special?
SkyeDS: not normally so that's cool
SkyeDS: depends on how much mustang blood particular animal has, vs
the Spanish Jennet blood
SkyeDS: which is where the Peruvian Paso, the Paso Fino, and the
Mangalarga Marchadors, get their gaits
evile: aha. cool.
SkyeDS: Ashia's stallion is a spanish mustang
SkyeDS: but not nearly as pretty as Morro
evile: They're pretty, but don't do it for me personally :P
evile: I like fat spotty hosses.
SkyeDS: including paints? or just gypsies?
evile: fat & spotty. that's pretty much it :P
evile: I don't know enough about nothing to be any more
discriminating than that :)
evile: Gaited would be fun, I think. But my one ride on a for-sure
gaited horse was...about the same as any other ride on any other
horse I've ever ridden...*shrug*
evile: (that would be a reflection on my own ignorance rather than
the qualities of the various animals)
SkyeDS: Jesse is gaited
evile: to me, it just made me feel less like I was going to fall off
at any minute. :P
evile: New note up on the bulletin board: the employees committee is
doing a bus trip to mexico Nov 6. Last time, Sweetie & I went & it wasnt
fun. But I think with the right bunch of people something like that
could be great fun.
SkyeDS: yep
evile: maybe closer to the time, i'll send out some feelers amongst
the various groups & such. Now is not the time. too early + mercury
retro.
SkyeDS: Hugh is going to start shooting people in the face
evile: bad news.
SkyeDS: certain places we do business with refuse to talk to me
evile: ugh.
SkyeDS: for example, bank calls, refuses to leave msg, just number
SkyeDS: so he calls them back, and they want to know about a payment
SkyeDS: which I already made
SkyeDS: and he said, talk to her
SkyeDS: and they said, not without your permission
SkyeDS: "but I just gave you permission"
evile: bizarre.
evile: Maybe their procedures need something in writing?
SkyeDS: not according to them
evile: so what do they mean by 'permission' that they aren't getting
via phone call from the boss?
SkyeDS: exactly
evile: that's so wierd.
SkyeDS: and they nearly made him late to his raquetball date w/ Joyce
evile: not good!
SkyeDS: he plays raquetball on MWF and does tai chi on TuThu
SkyeDS: and when he gets upset he goes to the Y around that and hits
things
evile: *nod* very cool.
SkyeDS: I hope he decides to partner with his friend Kenda to make a
new firm soon. She is trying to talk him into upping his rates. If
that happens I could ask for a raise :)
evile: that would be awesome!
SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: and maybe they'd have an office north and not south
SkyeDS: he lives south, don't know where Kenda lies
SkyeDS: lives
evile: maybe. current location is pretty convenient, though, to
courthouse & stuff.
SkyeDS: we wouldn't stay here
SkyeDS: no room
evile: *nod*
evile: Sharjinka is making noise about getting some property again.
Maybe you can get her to buy out the white trash.
SkyeDS: now that I've got the money I'll do it
SkyeDS: if they'll sell
evile: *nod*
evile: She is going at it kind of backwards...wants to look first,
then save money, then buy. And no agent at this point wants to deal
with her (surprise.)
evile: Her housemate has bought a couple of houses now, you'd think
he'd be able to tell her the basics of how it works...I can't imagine
buying acreage is much different than buying a house.
SkyeDS: she's not big on advice
SkyeDS: or experience counting for anything
SkyeDS: at least not when she talks to me
evile: That gets a little tiresome.
evile: Do it your way, fall on your ass, fine. But don't ask me for
advice THEN do it your way ANYWAY, fall on your ass, and come crying
to me because you fell on your ass.
SkyeDS: only diff between acreage and sitebuilt is that financing is
harder
SkyeDS: acreage you have to have 20% down
evile: wow.
evile: I admire her in that she goes after whatever she wants
agressively, and usually gets it. (jobs, education, the dig in Greece)
SkyeDS: that would indicate some ability with managing resources
evile: *nods*
evile: But those are also things where she just mavericked her way
through, solo. I really don't think you can get a house or property
without an agent. She will have to cultivate some teamwork skills &
give up some of her autonomy....and I think that will be a very
difficult challenge for her.
SkyeDS: I didn't have an agent
SkyeDS: but I didn't need one, I have industry knowledge
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: okkkk
SkyeDS: parents are on way NOW
evile: Oh...wow.
evile: I guess you can get home & at least get a nap before they
descend.
evile: Well, I guess I'll go toss papers around. Good luck with
the 'rents!
