Friday night, Skye_ds came over after work, we puttered in my work
room, and then we went to Casa de Luz for Desert Passion. I don't
really care too much for Drakon & his students' style of dance. Met
up with Amanda from polygroup & her friend Grey(?), a nice quiet cute
geek-ish guy. Amanda & I dished about The Diva. Apparently Amanda is
dating Jeff (cueball haircut, slightly obnoxious boy) and so is Diva
(I was there the night they met, so privileged!) so we dished a bit.
Turns out I have many very good reasons for my initial bad reaction
to her. She's a user and a drama queen, throws fits in public and
such. So...basically whirl X, the Rubber Pig, & UB in the blender and you
get Diva. ick. It was kinda fun to dish dirt. I feel slightly bad
about it now, of course. But whatever.

The 2 ladies in the same row of chairs as Amanda & Grey, in front of
us, were also students of Drakon. One of them was wearing these cool
leopard-print Medieval Moccasins. Skye_ds interupped the dishing to
point them out and manipulated Amanda into asking the lady directly
where she got them. "a renfaire" "which one?" "um the one near
Smithville" bl abla. I knew exactly what they were and where to
obtain them, but no reason to give that info to anyone.

The 2 ladies told me they really love taking Drakon's class &
encouraged us to do so. I'm glad. But I am not 'there' yet. And if I
was, I'd take classes from Z Helene, not Drakon.

Stephanie was also there. She wants to go to PT at work so she
doesn't lose her $900/month in SSI. That kind of bugs me. I was
raised to believe that if you CAN work and not take handouts, you
SHOULD. But...really, WHY? And if someone was going to give me $900 a
month for the accident of my existence, would I really turn it down?
No. So it's more a matter of me being jealous than any moral outrage
or whatever re: wasting my tax $ on able-bodied persons who are
perfectly fine to work a 40 hour week once they find a job...

So anyhoo...it was a nice evening, good performances if not exactly
what I'm used to seeing style-wise. Z helene & rick & some other
musicians did the last 1/2. Hip Bellyettes (well, mostly their
daughter Elena) are not nearly so annoying when they're
    choreographed.

After the show, Skye_ds and I went to Denny's and shared a breakfast.
It was mostly pleasant. I don't listen too much to what she says, or
take any of it personally, which helps. She still has plenty o'
crazy, went from dissing Kim Sylvana to Kim Bush to this new SCA
person who wants sineater without seeming to realize that she was talking
about 3 different people/situations...which was odd. But that's just
how she thinks, I guess. If a person/situation is similar to a
previous one, why differentiate in any way? They are the same & to
be dealt with in the same way. Also re-told hte story about a lover
telling her she needed to work out & then she demonstrated her
flexibility & endurance in teh saddle as being greater than his. The
first time I heard this story it was Kaleon, now it's sonar0m. Oh
well...another case of same situation=same person or whatever. She's
nuts. But I deal with her better lately, which hopefully doesn't mean
I'm nuts, but that I finally got to the point where I realize there
is no gain in arguing with crazy people.

Saturday was hotdogs & fireworks at Elaine's. We worked on a puzzle,
played games, etc. Jordan was a hyperactive little shit who was
disrespectful & mouthy. I really dont' like him much. I wasn't able
to get in any zings on Pat re: 'drifting apart' but...whatever. I
liked Sonya more this time. She seems cool about the problems with
miscarrying. Has made her peace & will accept whatever happens
gracefully. I felt like I was talking too much & interrupting too
much, but Sweetie says I didn't. I don't entirely trust his judgement--
after all, [Brother A] doesn't think it's obnoxious when HIS woman does
exactly the same obnoxious crap as UB.

    Good fireworks. Nice day.

Oh, big news is that uncle bubba's wife, is preggo. ecch.

Sunday I slept in and did laundry, also cleaned out the fireplace.
    It's July after all...

We went to bull creek park in the afternoon/evening, then came home
showered & dressed & went to Rudy's for BBQ. Some fireworks were
going off while we were there, so we got to see them. That was kind
    of a fun serindipity.

My neck has been hurting on/off since Friday night. I either slept
funny or managed to psychosomatically/psychically grab some of UBs
neck pain. That or my literal-minded subconscious is helping me
realize who is a pain in the neck. yeah, thanks.

SkyeDS: LOL I'm the only person with any work ethic around here today
    evile: me too.
evile: everyone is mysteriously 'ill' or had 'car trouble' coming
back from out of town visits.
SkyeDS: I'm surprised you're there. This being a federal holiday I
thought the State would take it off
SkyeDS: the banks are all closed, and all
evile: nope. state offices are open.
evile: found a link for you:
    http://www.medievalmoccasins.com/
SkyeDS: Saturday we went to the park in Rockdale and got hungry and
    went to McD's
SkyeDS: where people asked me for lessons so I had one at 8 am today,
    pretty cool
evile: sounds like a nice, laid-back day
SkyeDS: went to drandmir yesterday had a ball
SkyeDS: was a fair in the park
    evile: was the park crowded?
    SkyeDS: oh yeah
    evile: ick.
evile: we went to bull creek yesterday. was crowded with people &
grossly obese children. very few dogs. And someone stole my pants &
    towel.
SkyeDS: omg I want the full length ones
    SkyeDS: :( !
    evile: aren't they cool?
SkyeDS: I wore my new chemise with the short sleeves yesterday ;)
SkyeDS: it needs washing now :-/
evile: glad you are getting use out of it :)
SkyeDS: didn't want to wear the pretty long sleeved silk ones, and
get hot and sweaty on the 4th of July
evile: silk is great for staying cool. and it's washable silk...
    SkyeDS: I love washable silk
    evile: me too.
SkyeDS: I want a pair of Tall Boots, even if they are $230 <whines>
SkyeDS: had a long talk with Liz yesterday about politics in the HFS
    a nd the SCA respectively
SkyeDS: Kit & Kim showed up
    evile: interesting.
SkyeDS: Kit made a bline to ride
SkyeDS: Kim didn't say a word
evile: well, that's better than anything else she could have
    said/done...right??
    SkyeDS: was not a criticism
    SkyeDS: I found it amusing
    SkyeDS: and informative
SkyeDS: the only comment she made when he made a bline to my side
was "aren't you going to kiss me first?"
    evile: good.
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: he was facing away from her, so she didn't see this, but he
rolled his eyes before going back to kiss her as perfunctorily as
    possible
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: and I made sure not to say anything while we rode that could
    be REMOTELY construed as flirtatious
SkyeDS: we talked about the new place
    SkyeDS: and about jousting
    evile: sounds good. ")
evile: unless you asked what size lance he uses...
SkyeDS: lol he doesn't joust so no point in going there :P
SkyeDS: what I find interesting about it all is, there is no way in
hell he doesn't know how both Shaheena and Sylvana both feel about me
    and why
SkyeDS: he has to know that making a beeline to go riding with me is
not going to score him points at home
SkyeDS: but he did it anyway
evile: maybe he doesn't care what they think?
    SkyeDS: that would be interesting
SkyeDS: doesn't bode well for a marriage if you don't give a damn
about what pisses your spouse off...
evile: *shrug* I dont' necessarily think that one needs to live life
entirely by what spouse likes/dislikes either.
    SkyeDS: me neither (obviously) LOL
SkyeDS: I listen to the same song over and over again, and eat
lasagne every day for a week, and that drives sineater nuts
evile: There are things that you can do that spouse iether isn't
interested in or disapproves of that are NOT dealbreakers, just
    annoyances, y aknow?
SkyeDS: but I would be willing to wager that being unable to control
him particularly where I'm concerned, is going to be a stumbling
block, not necessarily a deal breaker
SkyeDS: that's what she left Travis over
    SkyeDS: inability to control him
    evile: heh. poor thing.
    SkyeDS: anyway, it's just interesting
SkyeDS: for like five minutes or so, and then there were much more
    interesting things
SkyeDS: really did enjoy the dancing, ty very much. and I'm sorry
    about leaving my collar :(
    evile: no big.
evile: why I keep everything I own attached to my body in some way--I
tend to forget stuff, too. :)
SkyeDS: I have long thought I should have my keys surgically implanted
    evile: might make life easier...
evile: Pat's wife Sonya made a couple of interesting comments on
Saturday. Seems they may be branching out into non-vanilla life in
    some way...
SkyeDS: oh and you really wanted to know that, I'm sure
evile: well, it was mixed company, so the conversation didn't
go "There" but she sad a couple of unexpected things that made me
    twig to it.
evile: hey, i used to fuck pat on a regular basis...there really
isn't a 'there' she could go to that would surprise/shock/make me
    uncomfy...
    SkyeDS: ROFL
    SkyeDS: does she know that?
evile: I dont' know...don't care. She seems to finally be secure in
the relationship enough not to be prickly to me.
evile: far as I'm concerned, it's in hte past & irrelevant, unless
she or pat wants to make an issue about it.
SkyeDS: ie, he may have told her or not, you don't know, but you
    haven't told her
    evile: no reason to.
SkyeDS: sineater stayed home yesterday. Good thing you didn't come out
either. The kids would have driven you both insane.
SkyeDS: I think we dealt with every single child under the age of 16
    in Georgetown yesterday
evile: I was at bull creek, being driven crazy by kids, anyway.
evile: this little shit in nothing but a pair of soaking wet
bluejeans demanded that Sweetie or I take him across the creek. "wanna
cross!"...I told him to find teh grownup he belonged to and ask THEM.
    SkyeDS: omg lol]
evile: Then loudly commented to Sweetie : "Don't they teach chldren to be
    afraid of STRANGERS anymore?!"
evile: OMG< did I tell you Unc. Bubba and his wife are expecting? UGH!
SkyeDS: well and if all that wasn't enough now there will be worry
about the Rubber Pig & [Brother A] expecting again
evile: WEll, if the Rubber Pig isn't wanting a baby now, she will be after she
hears the news. God forbid someone upstage her.
evile: Sort of like when X came to m y DPU graduation & got all
jealous of all the attention my cousin Weez was getting with her
baby, so went home & Oopsed Mikey ASAP.
evile: File that one under "least favorite breeder tricks"...
SkyeDS: everyone s hould be very grateful that I'm not in charge of
    the death/dismemberment penalty
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: or the nukes last week when I was bleeding tired and cranky
    evile: indeed!
SkyeDS: I do pretty good at not being cranky, I think, but I still
    can't help radiating tired
SkyeDS: which I think you probably picked up on Friday, didn't mean
to sap your energy too :(
    SkyeDS: I don't do Circle when I'm bleeding because I just can't
raise power, with it literally bleeding out of me
SkyeDS: but I did enjoy the moon t his weekend regardless
evile: It's possible. I had neck pain all weekend Probably got
    yours :P
SkyeDS: what's difficult is, my period is on the full moon more often
than not, which precludes me doing ritual a good deal of the time
    evile: *nods*
SkyeDS: at the dancing, I was happy and warm and tired
SkyeDS: the energies there were very comforting
evile: yeah. wierd food smells aside, Casa de Luz has very nice
    energy.
    SkyeDS: oh I know.
SkyeDS: I can't raise power, but you could give me nuke power when
    I'm on the rag.
    SkyeDS: that works.
    SkyeDS: ;)
evile: too bad their website is so unhelpful. I'd really like to try
    a class/workshop there.
SkyeDS: Rockdale ISD keeps saying they want me to teach a horse camp
but that woman never returns my calls
    evile: how annoying!
    SkyeDS: http://www.onlineshoes.com/synopsispage.asp?
    type=brand&brandid=48&brandcatid=384&gen=w
SkyeDS: not as cool, but interesting
evile: 1. too NA and 2. soles are crepe & will be slippery. Also 3)
wear out loooong before uppers will.
    SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: would need the neoprene soles to ride with
SkyeDS: and I"m not interested in them if I can't ride in them
evile: Uggs are uglier, but have better bottoms.
    http://www.onlineshoes.com/synopsispage.asp?
    type=brand&brandid=27&brandcatid=catall&gen=w

evile: They had, at one point, a kind of 'barbarian wench' looking
pair that I liked but now I can't find them anymore.
SkyeDS: they say they have hardsoles, but how can they be hardsole if
    they're crepe
evile: they are the same soles as they put on dream shoes. (my only
problem with dreamshoes, btw. lousy bottoms. I had mine resoled with
vibram for a cool $45. ACK.)
    evile: ooh....
    http://www.uggaustralia.com/Apparel_Detail.asp?
    dept_id=3&sku=5419&col=2
SkyeDS: was that the one you couldn't find for a while?
evile: nope, that's a new one I hadn't seen before.
evile: ooh, they help keep your feet cool even when it's 80 degrees
    out!!! *guffaw* that's helpful.
SkyeDS: this point I want something to keep the rest of me cool lol
    evile: *nods*
    SkyeDS: so sleepy
SkyeDS: out till past 1 am last night and then an 8am lesson
    evile: wow.
evile: dammit..I am once again regretting missing a Voyagers party :(
I should have made myself go after the fireworks at elaines, even
though it was late & I was tired...
    SkyeDS: how was Elaine's?
    evile: nice.
evile: It was just Elaine, Pat, Sonya, Jordan, Aunt L, Uncle B, me and Sweetie.
evile: Sonya & I had a nice visit. Jordan annoys me, but Sweetie assures
me he's a very well behaved boy.
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: Learned of Uncle Bubba's 'blessed event' and how Aunt L
is looking forward to taking yet another 'cousin photo'...I told her
that I'm an embittered barren hag now, so I can't touch babies.
evile: everyone assured me that I wouldn't get pregnant just by
    touching one, hahah. :P
evile: I am going to try and convince people that my actual concern
is that the lovely bebbehs will shrivel up and wither away if I touch
    them, not vice versa..
    SkyeDS: lol
SkyeDS: given the choice of "Aunt Skye" or "Miss Skye", my new
    student chose Aunt Skye
evile: seems that 'for the children' argument manages to push alot of
lackwitted nonsense forward, why not make it useful to myself?
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: after what I've heard about the schools around Rockdale, and
sussed out for myself by observation
SkyeDS: I don't think I want to have a child right now
SkyeDS: I'd have to home school because I couldn't afford private
school and I can't trust the public schools
    evile: *nods*
SkyeDS: I've never been to the AD downtown
SkyeDS: maybe I should go with you if parking is that hideous
evile: *shrug* lousy parking, just like everything else downtown.
    evile: upstairs.
SkyeDS: and make some arrangements to bring sineater with me, sonar0m will
have to get there on his own since it's a wed.
evile: other than that, it's about the same as the Village.
evile: There are a couple of bars nearby that are nice. No idea what
their happy hours are like...but if nothing else, the Gingerman is a
nice place & has a patio (inaccessible from outside, you have to walk
    thru the bar)
SkyeDS: where downtown is it...somewhere on colorado right?
SkyeDS: I don't do patios unless I have to (children in hand)
evile: Um...I have a mental picture of where it is but no idea how to
    tell you where it is.
SkyeDS: I can look it up
SkyeDS: if I can stay awake
evile: there's still a couple weeks until the show, so no big rush :)
SkyeDS: if I could teach 3 lessons every day, I would make as much as
    I do here
SkyeDS: more actually since there wouldn't be gas expense
    evile: that would be cool.
SkyeDS: doable in the summer maybe
    SkyeDS: but not during school
SkyeDS: at that point all the kids will want to switch to weekends
    I'm willing to bet
    evile: *nods*
evile: NK! is doing a cocktail evening in the area on the 8th, so I
might go try out that one & see if I feel like going back on hte 21st
    SkyeDS: adult beverages, yum!
evile: Yeah. But another one where it isn't really commonsensical to
try and get home and then fight through traffic to drive back
    downtown.
    evile: (not to mention park)
SkyeDS: I had a good time t his weekend considering that my original
    plans got cancelled
SkyeDS: good thing I "call before I haul"
    evile: very good.
SkyeDS: should have to Houston but didn't, but that turned out ok too
evile: Some weekends it's nice to just stick close to home.
evile: the latest thread on austin poly is bizarre. guy moving to
austin & trying to find out where people live, presumably so he can
find someplace near polyfolk. Duh. why don't you find someplace close
to whatever your daily activity is/within your price range, instead.
(not going to post anything on that thread, BTW.)
    SkyeDS: no fishing from bridge.
evile: I've met him in RL when he was in town for something, he
didn't seem too creepy. But still, wierd.
SkyeDS: anymore crap from the Diva?
evile: nope. she was done with me, apparently, and really meant it.
that's unusual in a troll. I just wish she'd really taken her pail &
shovel & left polygroup as her last post seemed to imply she was
    doing.
evile: to be totally honest, I'm rather hesitant to post anything
else to the poly group ...for a while, anyway.
    SkyeDS: I can see that
evile: I don't want to give her anymore opportuniteis to attack me,
and I want to give everyone else in the group a chance to forget that
I joined so enthusiastically in a flame war & probably ruined a lot
of good opinions about me that way.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: sad. the only person I hurt was myself. I don't even want to
go to any poly stuff anymore now. I'm so ashamed of my behavior....
SkyeDS: it wasn't that bad, really. I've seen worse (done worse
    depending on who you ask)
evile: You are probably right. But ...for anyone who didn't know me
that wellk they probably don't want to know me at all now. and those
who do know me are probably wondering what happened to the nice
    normal E they knew...
SkyeDS: <tries not to giggle at nice normal E
SkyeDS: nice normal = boring and certainly not you
evile: I am extremely boring. It's OK.
evile: there is nothing wrong with leading a normal life and not
    having big huge drama 24/7.
evile: I do not take issue with the word 'boring' as applied to me.
I do not need attention badly enough to go around yelling "look at
    me, I'm a freak!"
evile: And if I did want attention, that is not the kind of attention
    I'd want...
SkyeDS: I figured out last night how to avoid attention when I got
    tired of it
evile: that's always a nice thing to do.
SkyeDS: rather than riding at a walk and getting stopped every three
feet, we picked an open path on the outskirts and went flying by at a
    gallop
    evile: there ya go.
evile: Mouser is trying to tempt me to go to First Wednesday at CM.
Even if I can make it up on Saturday, class last WEd. was cancelled,
and there's no class tonight, either. June 28-July 10 is WAY too long
    to go between classes.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: If, OTOH, I had been pro-active and gone to class on the 3rd,
going from the 3rd to the 10th would not have been too long to go.
    foo.
    SkyeDS: :-/
evile: (assuming UT level 1 students are allowed to go to Saturday
    Level 1 classes, that is.)
evile: I'm going to check with the instructors on the 7th and see
about making up lost Wednesdays on Saturday. That way I might not
have to miss so many poly dinners.
    SkyeDS: that would be cool
evile: yeah. I knew when I signed up what I was missing, but it's
not as do-able in RL as it was in theory. I miss people too much.
evile: Plus (and this is horrible) I dont' want The Diva getting the
impression that she's won just because I'm not there.
    SkyeDS: nodnods
evile: why I should care, I do not know...but I kinda do.
evile: Well, dang. Time for me to get all my papers shuffled.
    SkyeDS: hugs
    SkyeDS: ciao bella :)
    evile: *hugs* drive safe!
    SkyeDS: :)
