SkyeDS: hola :) does aunt l have an email addy by any chance?
evile: Yep. hang on a sec and I'll get it for ya.
evile:  ==================[redacted]
SkyeDS: ty :) how goes?
evile: Hanging in there...
evile: I sent Kim a very diplomatic (for me) email about all that
mess. Told her to quit feeding the drama-monster.
SkyeDS: ruh roh
evile: Well, she seemed to think that *i* needed to get some facts
straight with y'all, and I said 'nope'
SkyeDS: she tried to tell Sineater that you were the one to come to her
asking about it. Which I said made no sense, not from any possible
perspective.
evile: nope. She asked me about it and I said I'd heard some about it
but it was none of my business & I didn't want to know nothin bout
nothin.
evile: And, assuming I DID want to know the particulars, I would ask
YOU and Sineater, not some random 3rd party
SkyeDS: even if at some point you did initiate conversation about it,
how would you know to initiate such a conversation with her, if she
had not let you know that she knew something about it?
SkyeDS: she is hardly my best friend or a good source of information
about me
evile: exactly. Which is why I suggested that she needed to leave
things alone and let them settle & quit feeding the drama monster.
SkyeDS: "I want to ferret outi nformation that I don't want to talk
to Sineater and Skye about...who should I ask... I know, I'll ask Kim" -
no, I don't think so.
evile: Nope.
SkyeDS: Sineater had a quiet conversation with her Saturday. She stormed
into nirvana to yell at me. Everyone stopped her, so she stormed out
of the park.
evile: bizarre.
SkyeDS: nobody followed her out of the park but Travis and when
Travis couldn't get anywhere with her he came back and forgot abouti t
SkyeDS: so she kept coming back on the pretext of water or whatever,
and finally, not getting anywhere that way, she dragged travis off
across the street by his ear.
evile: Things in her personal life must be disentegrating rapidly if
she need sto distract herself iwth this kind of high-drama.
SkyeDS: so now she's going to go to Mimi, fill Mimi's ears with a
bunch of bullshit, and threaten to quit HFS if I don't.
evile: Hopefully Mimi has a little more sense than to listen to only
one side of a story & make a decision on it.
SkyeDS: "to keep there from being a rift in Barad Duin" <martyred
sniff,wrist across forehead>
evile: what EVER.
SkyeDS: Kim gave it her best shot trying to get rid of the horses.
That resulted in Mimi asking me to keep them out of Nirvana, I
suggested she put up a rope so I knew exactly where they could go and
not, and asking that certain places not be roped off (shade and
grass), Mimi agreeing with me perfectly, and a bunch of good feeling
because I was reasonable (I don't know why people think I wouldn't
be).
SkyeDS: she's tried to get rid of alex who is a known pedaphile and
he's still here you notice.
evile: If she'd focus that energy on her studies & her worksearch,
she might get somewhere...
SkyeDS: could be. If Mimi comes to me, I'm going to tell her first
of all, I am so sorry for her. She's trying to plan a wedding, some
of her inlaws have made it a war, and she doesn't need this shit.
SkyeDS: and then I'm going to tell her, this is not HFS business,
this is my private business and I will handle it, but whatever she
wants me to do, I will gladly do.
evile: Yuck, you're exactly right about that. Family always comes
first.
SkyeDS: that makes it game set and match, because I'm being
reasonable again.
SkyeDS: and as for Kim...well...she put herself in the deep end
between the shark and the piranha and this minnow ain't fishin her
out.
evile: I think the mistake was mixing horse concerns (legitimate,
possibly) with stuff that was none of her business & has no bearing
on HFS
SkyeDS: last time she launched a campaign on Alex Mimi posted to the
BD private forum that we aren't supposed to judge people on any basis
other than what they bring to the park. I think this applies.
SkyeDS: plus Kim gave Sineater the impression that she thought he was
going to hit her. What happened to Saint Sineater who is abused by big
bad wicked Skye, who needs defending because he can't defend himself?
evile: Yuck.
evile: Well, hopefully I will not make this mistake again (even
though it's a common one for me). Someone asks me if I know about XYZ
and I answer honestly. Nope. I'm gonna play stupid from here on in...
SkyeDS: <shrugs> I have a POA (plan of attack) and ROE (rules of
engagement) so I'm good. NOt looking forward to it, but good.
SkyeDS: I keep telling people that getting in between you and Sineater is
a bad idea. Nobody listens to me.
evile: sounds like if you just hang tight, Kim will self-destruct on
her own.
evile: Sineater is a pretty loyal critter & can be straightforward when
the situation calls for it.
SkyeDS: of course, half cat that I am, I'm still curious as to how I
attracted this unwanted attention. But I may never know that.
evile: who knows? Hopefully it'll blow over soon.
SkyeDS: met a wonderful group of people last night, looking forward
to spending more time with them :)
evile: cool. Did you go to a poly dinner?
SkyeDS: no, went to the new gaming shop on N 183, Thor's Hammer, and
met a rather large gaming group, some of whom I've seen around at
pagan events and rennie events.
evile: Oh, cool.
SkyeDS: perfectly lovely older gay couple, that I know I know from
somewhere but can't place it. They can't place it either.
SkyeDS: I'm going to see if I can persuade them to come out to the
park on Saturdays.
evile: that would be cool.
SkyeDS: one of them lost his horses when he divorced his wife.
SkyeDS: Sineater wants the phone, but I should be back shortly :) don't
burn anything down or kill anyone in the meanwhile :P
evile: okeydoke. *hugs* to you both.

(continued)
SkyeDS: two of my three decks arrived today :) the replacement deck
is prettier than the original (which is out of print)
SkyeDS: and for my birthday, (to make up for lack of Valentine Day)
Sonar0m made me a gorgeous waterproof chest to carry the cards in
(water ruined the last deck)
evile: how sweet :)
SkyeDS: he took a chest and four boxes that fit inside, waterproofed
them and covered them in really pretty fabric (and he singlehandedly
saved my birthday when someone else ruined it). All in all was
awesome birthday (working on thank you cards, why I needed Aunt
L's email).
evile: Sounds very cool
SkyeDS: not singlehandedly actually. on the actual day, when I was
too tired and death cramping, Sineater got pizza and we watched Robin
Williams on Broadway (very funny). Laughter is almost as good for
cramps as sex.
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: at some point I think I want to make and learn to use the
Tuscan Runes. It seems to be an important part of my sorely lacking
education.
evile: I've never heard of them, but if they're from your people's
place, you should probably check 'em out.
SkyeDS: I'm still trying to make the Italian card spread work for me
when I read the cards.
evile: It's hard to get used to a different setup.
SkyeDS: probably would come faster if that's the only spread I used,
but it's just habit to revert back to the celtic cross.
SkyeDS: winged spirit is sooo pretty <kid with new toy>
evile: yeah. that's the one everyone sees first, I think,
SkyeDS: can't wait for Celtic Drgaon to get here.... the Magician
(one of my personal cards) is a long dark haired lady.
evile: cool.
evile: There are a few really good websites that have photos &
reviews of different decks. That's how I found the Rock & Roll tarot
& the Artists Inner Vision tarot.
SkyeDS: nods I have spent many hours at such sites :)
SkyeDS: <used to write off the cost of decks as a business expense,
quite legitimately>
evile: Helps pass the time when things are slow at work. I make
spreadsheets & crazy stuff like that out of my wishlists.
SkyeDS: actually, since I do still read for money, guess there's no
reason I couldn't still
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: you could make an encyclopedia out of my wish lists.
evile: hee. Metoo.
evile: Are you going to GWNN munch this weekend?
SkyeDS: had not really thought about it. If you wanted me to go, I
would :)
evile: I won't be able to stay long, if I get there. It's sandwiched
between Drandmir Craft day and a party e invited me to attend
with her.
SkyeDS: nods, going to gwnn means either not taking hte horses or
taking them and leaving early and coming back (lots of gas and
time). So it usually requires planning in advance.
evile: Yeah, i know. Since it's pretty 'up in the air' as to whether
I'll get there at all, I wouldn't ask you to make plans on my
behalf. There's another play party next month; I'll definitely be
going to that.
SkyeDS: I will give the play party thought. Although, it's been said
that I would just embarass myself at such a party. We'll see about
that...
evile: This would be my first GWNN party--I've been out of town or
busy for every play party since I joined last fall!
SkyeDS: I still think you need a social secretary and one of those
hour glasses from Harry Potter that allows you to be two places at
once.
evile: would be nice :)
SkyeDS: two dreamy villains in the last Potter, Alan Rickman, and
Jason Isaacs
evile: I dig Alan R.
SkyeDS: mmm yummy (Arthur quote)
evile: hee.
SkyeDS: there's a great Rickman site out there, rickmanistareview
evile: cooool!
evile: I usually just do google image searches :)
evile: I am trying to decide whether to work on harem pants or
Drandmir-themed amulet bags at craft day on Saturday.
SkyeDS: I bought two new pair of harem pants off ebay for my
birthday, because the crotch is gone on the pair I had. Paid $23
total for two pair plus handling.
evile: I got instructions online--it's less than 2 yds of fabric per
pair, apparently, plus elastic. Looks easy enough. If I can do wrap
pants, I can do harem pants.
SkyeDS: they don't look like they'd be that hard, just patience
requiring for the elastic gathering the waist and the cuffs, but you
are more patient than me about such things, and I guess you could use
draw strings. holyclothing.com has lovely wrap around pants they
call harem but they aren't gathered at the cuffs.
evile: yeah, I'd call the ones holyclothing has 'wrap pants' not
harem pants. But they probably get more ebay hits with calling them
harem pants.
SkyeDS: I made wrap shorts once, in middle school, a long, long time
ago.
evile: I lent out my 'pattern maker' roll of white paper to an HFS
kid. I don't think I'm gonna see it again.
SkyeDS: the white butcher paper type stuff? Janet used to use that.
Will it be expensive to replace?
evile: nah. but if I want to make harem pants Sat. I'll have to get a
new roll, plus fabric & elastic. If I want to do amulet bags, I
probably already have everything I'd need.
SkyeDS: sell the amulet bags or give them away?
evile: *shrug* probably give them away. Or ask for cost of materials
only.
evile: Oh! Best quote ever. My friend e. (who is prissy and
flakey) said, of the group we joined together last month) "All the
women are prissy and flakey! I don't like women like that!" heeehee.
Bit my tongue nearly half off!
SkyeDS: LOL
evile: yeah. It was one of those moments of stellar irony.
evile: I can't say I care much for the 'Hill Country Outdoors' group
much yet, myself, but to me, they all look just like e's regular
bunch of friends. Wierd.
SkyeDS: let me know if you find some new places to take the horses ;)
evile: There's a horseback riding outing on the 28th, but it's
obviously not 'byo horse'
SkyeDS: you might enjoy that though, and you don't have any need to
byoh.
evile: Maybe. I think I already have plans that day; I'd have to
double-check.
evile: plus, if I end up going on another couple of HCO outings and
NOT liking the people, why on earth would I want to spend a day out
in the heat with 'em? bleh. Buncha grownup frat boys & so hos
SkyeDS: that's true. and you have access to horseback riding any
time you want, really.
evile: this is true :)
evile: The only possibly cool thing is it's in Burnet, and I could
try & drive by the castle up thataway & get photos
SkyeDS: if you wanted, even, you could go with us to teh CBar ride in
October, they have horses you could rent, or we could just take turns.
SkyeDS: neither Sineater nor I managed all the rides every day.
evile: If you wouldn't mind sending me more info, I might be
interested in doing that :)
SkyeDS: lemme see if I can find the new website.
evile: cool :)
SkyeDS: http://www.cbarstables.com/
evile: thanks :)
evile: How far in advance do you usually need to sign up?
SkyeDS: if it weren't so expensive to camp there it woudl be a great
place for CRW
evile: yeah. I've found lots of places like that.
SkyeDS: you don't have to sign up you can just show up, but I don't
know how far in advance to rent a horse, that might be on the website
evile: cool. I'll check it out :)
SkyeDS: they've got good pictures of the place on the website too.
I've never had so much fun, (and never been so scared at the same
time, and that was on the baby trails)
evile: eeks!
SkyeDS: remember though I'm always a chickenshit until I prove to
myself that it's no big deal.
evile: hee.
evile: I just close my eyes & trust the horse to know what its doing.
SkyeDS: lol not only do I close my eyes, I wrap the reins, and bury
my head in mane.
evile: hee.
SkyeDS: "what the hell is she doing?" lol
evile: aww. I'm sure it's more common than you know :)
SkyeDS: Mirage doesn't need to know when I'm scared, because that
scares her.
evile: right.
SkyeDS: and I trust her implicitly to get me out of shit.
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I haven't ridden horses other than mine in I don't remember
how long now. A decade maybe, longer?
evile: wow.
SkyeDS: an outdoors group sounds cool. I am always wanting to go
camping with the horses and the bird, somewhere I could swim too.
But that requires more hands than I usually have available at one
time. And Sineater's work schedule, and fundage.
evile: I've noticed that most, if not all, of the HCO events are not
child or pet friendly. Which is hunkydory with me, but probably not
cool for y'all. Some of the events seem to be 'no pets/kids' due to
the venue being attended, some are just tagged that way due to the
organizers personal bias, looks like.
SkyeDS: lol. I have no problems finding places to go, just funds and
time to get there, so I don't need a new source of unattainable
desires at the moment, and it's good for you to find no pets/kids
things :)
evile: I don't mind pets. Overpriviliged yuppie spawn would need
kickin', however.
SkyeDS: I haven't been back to McKinney Roughs either and I want to.
evile: that looked very cool.
SkyeDS: there's a horse hotel down the road too.
evile: way cool! decently affordable?
SkyeDS: looks like - I think it's like happyhorsehotel.com
SkyeDS: rennies built it.
evile: cool :)
SkyeDS: when I can afford to buy the acreage next to me, I could do
something like that.
evile: that's a very good idea :)
SkyeDS: when I can afford to do that, I can also afford the books I
need to go back into training/teaching and do that too.
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: it's just hard to teach things that are innate, and were
never taught to me.
evile: yeah. But it's always interesting to try :)
SkyeDS: had one hell of a storm last night. I drove through it
coming home. Shoudl have pulled over and just slept through it, but
I didn't. Stupid and lucky.
evile: Sweetie was still awake for that. I slept right thru.
SkyeDS: the lightning was blinding, the rain was blinding, and I was
sleepy. File that under damn lucky.
evile: Guardian angel working OT this week :)
evile: BRB-tinkle break.
evile: I'm back. I probably should go on the riding trip in Oct.
Brush up on my skills so I won't make a complete ass of myself if I
get to go to France and ride next summer.
evile: (should probably work on my French, too)
SkyeDS: I get the chance to practice my spanish with some of the
truck drivers, in a very rudimentary fashion. There's a french
legation in town somewhere maybe you could practice there?
SkyeDS: or if any of the french restaurants in town have people who
speak french.
SkyeDS: I haven't used my french in longer than I haven't used my
spanish.
evile: Yeah, this is a university town, so I'm sure there's some kind
of informal gatherings to practice language. I just need to find 'em.
evile: J-Law and I occasionally email in French, but that doesn't help
with the oral skills :)
SkyeDS: no. I can still read and write fluently, just not speak. I
hadn't even thought about the uni groups, you're right
evile: Probably have to wait until fall to find a regular group
meeting. Oh well.
evile: C- rents horses for $20/hour. I wonder if that's the rate for
the trail rides, too. yow.
SkyeDS: I doubt they do hourly rates for the rides since the ride is
3 days long
SkyeDS: larry and martha montgomery are reasonable people, you might
email them and ask them
evile: Well, if you're coming back to a main location at the end of
the day, maybe? But if the ride is like day 1: Xmiles, day 2 Xmiles,
day 3, ride back, no.
evile: Yeah. I'll check. The photos are really pretty. Nice land.
SkyeDS: on friday the rides are unguided and up to you. there are
two three hour rides on Saturday and one on Sunday.
evile: aha. Well, I'll send off for more info :) If necessary, I can
have the $ saved for horse rental by then :)
SkyeDS: if that doesn't work, then if we figure four rides, one
friday, two sat, one sunday, we can split them between the three of
us pretty equally I think. Assuming Sineater is up to riding all four
(somewhat doubtful) then we can each go out with him twice.
evile: that could work :)
SkyeDS: neither Sineater nor I managed to do four rides last time. And
Linda came up, so we took her out on an impromptu ride, and traded
walking.
evile: yeah, looks like they have camping for horseless folk who just
want to go do that.
SkyeDS: I had just as much fun wandering around by myself as doing
the big rides.
evile: yeah. It looks like very nice walking-around property
SkyeDS: there were plenty of well kept porta potties, and shade close
enought o camp nearby them, and teh food was plentiful and good.
evile: shade is very good. I got burned at Zilker last night--1 hour
in the sun. Wearing sunscreen. It sucked!!
SkyeDS: one hour? OW!
evile: yeah, it was brutal. I wasn't expecting that at all. This was
6pm-7pm!!
evile: Would figure that now that I do mornings without alarm clock &
am not a night owl anymore, my body would become more sun-sensitive.
SkyeDS: <furrowed brow> I'm in and out of the sun all day long,
without sunscreen, but maybe not long enough to burn. I think the
longest I'm out in it may be 15 - 30 minutes at a time, during
rushes. I probably ought to start doing screen.
evile: Yup. sunscreen is the #1 way to keep from getting wrinkles!
SkyeDS: full moon is friday. I want to be skyclad, but I have to
find some way to keep the prehistoric dinoskeeters away.
evile: yup.
evile: Academy has those mosquito coils that seem to work pretty
well, don't smell as bad as citronella candles.
I'll probably just go to PNO and call it a night :)
SkyeDS: full moon on a fri 13th :)
evile: pretty cool. Should be a good day.
SkyeDS: as it turns out, I was born on a dark moon. So I was
probably conceived on a dark moon, so my mother probably ovulated on
a dark moon. Which explains why more often than not, even on pills,
my ovulatory time (if I ovulated) woudl be dark moon, and my periods
are full moon (kind of reverse of where they're supposed to be, and
it's damn hard to raise a circle on period).
evile: I thank god/ess daily for Depo Provera :)
SkyeDS: bunch of men are harping about the woman who just gave birth
on a ship in a war zone during combat. first time ever. She said she
didn't know she was pregnant, and what's more, those around her
didn't know either. Men are saying that's bullshit. But we both
know more than one woman who had periods, didn't show, and didn't
know until went to hospital with tummy hurt.
SkyeDS: and as for well she didn't have periods for nine months.
Well if she was on shots, she wouldn't have.
SkyeDS: and women who don't have more than 10% body fat don't have
periods (gymnasts, ballerinas, skaters).
evile: HOpefully they won't name the kid 'saddam sars', "s.s.
whatever" or anything stupid like that
evile: usually women with very little body fat don't ovulate either,
though.
SkyeDS: It aggravates me to hear men talking about something they
don't know squat about and couldn't possibly.
evile: eh, I just tune 'em out.
SkyeDS: they drew blood before she went over there, so if she was
already pregnant they should have told her.
SkyeDS: they need DeeDee to set them straight about babyhaving and
the military
evile: I can't wait to hear her take on all that :)
SkyeDS: that's the first thing through my head when I heard it.
evile: hee!
evile: I'll keep ya posted :)
SkyeDS: I don't even pretend to know a damn thing about urology or
proctology.
evile: yecch. no way.
evile: I got the brushoff when I asked my Dr. about endometrial
ablation. He was kind of a jerk about it, very condescending, etc.
and then at the end of the appointment, he was all like "So, call if
you want the procedure". It was WIERD.
evile: I guess if I still wanted it after him making me feel stupid
for a half an hour, I was supposed to say something ? I dunno.
SkyeDS: my docs still haven't committed to whether I have
endometriosis or fibroids, symptoms are the same and they want to cut
me open to figure it out. No thank you.
SkyeDS: besides, with the lining as it is when I'm not on the pill,
I'm betting on endometriosis myself.
evile: yuck. I don't recommend abdominal surgery.
SkyeDS: it doesn't matter, given that the pills make it manageable
anyway. Maybe there's a cure but I can't afford it now anyway.
evile: Well, with things at work going as they are, I want a
permanent solution before a) my health insurance is changed AGAIN and
doesn't cover it anymore or b) laws are passed that prevent me from
making my own reproductive choices.
evile: or c) I get laid off with the other 3,999 state employees
getting the axe under the new budget
SkyeDS: you found something I've never heard of...what is ablation?
evile: new procedure. They cauterize your endometrial lining so it
wont' grow back.
SkyeDS: laser I take it
evile: It's mainly used as a cure for abnormal bleeding.
nope. it's either a hot needle scraped over the inside of your uterus
or a hot balloon inflated inside & held against the uterine walls
long enough to scar them.
SkyeDS: ...ow...<cringes>
evile: bad thing is you could theoretically still get preggers, but
the egg would either implant in the fallopian tube or directly in the
wall of your uterus=bad news.
evile: So I was thinking ablation + essure or tubal on the remaining
tube I have. Dr. Davis treated me like a retarded child. It was very
irritating, since I really *did* do some research before I talked to
him about it.
SkyeDS: Tad Davis? (did my termination)
evile: His staff is so incredibly stupid, I could probably buffalo
them into scheduling me for the procedures without re-consulting the
Dr. about it.
SkyeDS: I butt heads with obg's over my blood pressure, my migraines
and my pills every damn time I'm in there.
evile: Yup. He is very capable, but not too good with the
endometriosis problem.
SkyeDS: finally figured out why my bp is high. They use the wrong
size cuff. Smaller than standard.
evile: ouch.
SkyeDS: I thought it was white coat hypertension, but it doesn't
happen when I go to the MD
evile: that sucks!
SkyeDS: at least there won't be any more trips to the MD to pay for
every time I have to prove there's nothing wrong with my bp
evile: that's cool.
SkyeDS: and no more drinking of three glasses of red poured into a
blue water bottle to look like grape juice right before my appt
anymore.
evile: both the procedures I want are outpatient & take less than an
hour each. I think I will try & bluff my way into having his staff
schedule them. And then hope to gawd the insurance will cover both of
them being done
SkyeDS: how hard would be to find someone else to do them, under
insurance?
evile: wine is good...
evile: I dunno. I have gotten one recommendation from one of the no
kidding folks, maybe I'll go interview that dr and see if it's worth
changing my primary & all that jazz to have it done.
evile: Davis is super competent, and up on the latest procedures. I
really would not mind having him do them. If he would just not treat
me like a stupidass for asking him about them.
SkyeDS: did he flat out say no?
evile: No, he just gently corrected/redirected everything I said and
treated me like I was stupid.
SkyeDS: then gently but firmly tell him you're going to do it anway.
evile: And then after demoralizing me for a while, he shut up the
file and said "Call if you want those procedures done"...and now I'm
feeling like I'm wrong & stupid for even asking.
SkyeDS: I don't give a damn about being called old fat married and
ugly, but I don't tolerate stupid.
SkyeDS: in the midst of all the bullshit did he give you any solid
facts to consider that you didn't already have, to shut your open
mind around?
SkyeDS: (the point of an open mind being to close it on something
solid)
evile: yeah. it sucks. and you'd think it'd be the ONE thing nobody
could make me feel. I'm smart, I know I'm informed...but he did it to
me anyway. I have real problems with male authority figures
SkyeDS: what did he tell you by way of fact that you didn't already
know?
evile: Well, according to the brochure I got, endometrial ablation IS
a treatment for endometriosis. However, he informed me that it's NOT
for endometriosis, it's for 'abnormal bleeding'...which I consider
bleeding INTO your body cavity ABNORMAL.
evile: And told me there's 'no cure' for endometriosis. Um...having
no endometrial lining would not be a 'cure'? WTF?
SkyeDS: I guess that would depend on whether the lining grows on its
own outside the cavity, or whether it has to grow in the cavity first
to grow outside it?
SkyeDS: and there IS at least one cure, called a hysterectomy.
evile: As far as I know, I'm clean. Had surgery in 1992 and got on
depo in 1995.
SkyeDS: and I know of women who have had laser surgery to get it off
their kidneys.
evile: He won't give me a hysterectomy, either.
SkyeDS: ok, so get second opinion, and if you still want it done,
then gently but firmly tell Tad to do it.
evile: The surgeon in 92 found it on my bladder & kidneys & it had
destroyed one ovary (what caused me enough pain to see the Dr in the
firs tplace) The Dr. got all that.
SkyeDS: whole reason I don't go through all o fthat is because I can
manage the pain as long as I'm on pills.
evile: Yeah, it'd be worth the 'out of network' copay to get a second
opinion, I guess.
SkyeDS: can't get a second opinion within the network? that's
ridiculous :(
evile: My ovary was so covered in endometrial tissue, it was
partially blocking my intestine. So surgery was it.
evile: My med insurance has gotten really SUCK as of late--the State
trying to save $.
SkyeDS: <gently smacks the author of this deck for not knowing the
difference between the Caduceus and the Rod of Asculepius, but then
that is a VERY common mistake>
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: the rod with the snakes of medical fame is NOT a caduceus.
evile: I always get those backwards.
SkyeDS: that's probably because all of society gets it backwards.
evile: probably.
SkyeDS: the caduceus has a bullhead on it, like the symbol for
Mercury (the god who created it)
SkyeDS: the medical symbol is the rod of Asculaepius, who was
Apollo's half mortal sun, the healer
SkyeDS: who was destroyed by the gods for daring to bring people back
to life...not supposed to Heal Death ya know.
SkyeDS: the snakes gave him the gift of Hearing by licking his ears
clean.
SkyeDS: err sun = son (sigh)
evile: I didn't know the thing about the snakes licking ears...eeps!
SkyeDS: I'm sure there's some deep symbology there, snakes and wisdom
and all that, but I don't know what exactly.
SkyeDS: I am a fountain of completely useless trivia.
evile: I'm just thinking I wouldn't be able to sit still for snakes
licking my ears...
SkyeDS: <giggles> I don't know about that either. The myth says they
did it in his sleep.
evile: probably for the best... :P
SkyeDS: I guess you need a referral from DAvis to someoen else in
network? rather than jsut being able to go to another network obg by
yourself?
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: that might be cheaper than going out of network.
evile: could be.
SkyeDS: and show him that you're serious and you're doing your
research
SkyeDS: I have smacked many doctors for treating me like I"m not
intelligent enough to do my research
evile: I could just write them another (yet another!) ugly letter. I
seem to do that about every other visit.
SkyeDS: is Dr. Margaret Thompson in your network? you might like her
better.
evile: I'll check. This isn't the fingernail lady is it???
SkyeDS: lol she very seldom does the exams herself, those are done by
her NPs/PAs.
evile: Oh, okay then. (uncrosses painfully clenched legs)
SkyeDS: the talons did come in contact with the bartholin gland cyst
and I wish they hadn't but that was unavoidable.
evile: yow
SkyeDS: while she is perennially surprised that I do my research, she
has yet to make the mistake of implying I didn't do it correctly and
don't know what I"m about.
evile: that's very cool.
SkyeDS: and she is a woman, so no male authority figure.
evile: true.
SkyeDS: and all her NP/PAs are women. I like all but one of them.
evile: I like Davis' NP. She is cool.
SkyeDS: if someone is going to question your research, then s/he
should bring to the debate supportable facts. In a reasoned,
logical, courteous manner.
SkyeDS: Confrontation is not the same as even passive aggressive
combativeness. Tom taught me that. The courts are confrontational,
but not combative, the attorneys are expected to be professional and
courteous and gentlemanly at all times.
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: by that perspective, I am confrontational but not combative
(or I don't like being combative, anyway)
evile: assertive but not aggressive. Nothing wrong with standing up
for yourself.
SkyeDS: problem is when you try to confront someone in a reasoned
mature debate, most of them insist on turning it combative, be it
actively or passively.
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I tried to explain this to Travis about my change of mind
regarding Kim.
SkyeDS: because when it was just over the horses, I said, "she needs
to talk to my face and not behind my back?h
evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: well, first of all, I don?ft consider talking to my face,
equal to yelling at me in Nirvana in front of everybody.
SkyeDS: that doesn?ft count.
SkyeDS: and secondly, we no longer have anything to say to each other
now that she has interfered in marital and family matters. Period.
evile: No...there was no point in escalating to that point if she
hadn't already tried a reasoned approach first.
SkyeDS: I am capable of ignoring her as if she is not even present,
with no rancor whatsoever. She?fd better accept that and be grateful
for it.
evile: always try polite first. then yell if you have to. Never start
with yelling, it leaves you no place to escalate to.
SkyeDS: yelling in front of an audience is also a bad venue.
SkyeDS: makes you look bad.
SkyeDS: <lots of experience, knows this the hard way>
evile: true enough.
SkyeDS: sounds like you have an avenue, if not an easy one, getting a
referral for a 2nd op, or going out of network ifyou have to, and
then telling him, ok, now do it.
evile: I need to get home & find out where Sweetie ganked my aloe vera
to. Sunburn is hurting me.
SkyeDS: I have a mixture of aloe, witchhazel, lidocaine, collagen,
lanolin and VitE that I got from Walgreens?f that?fs good for burn.
evile: Sounds good :)
SkyeDS: they colored it blue, I suppose that?fs supposed to be
comforting.
evile: I'm always astounded by the sunburn relief/skin cream stuff
that has fricken alcohol in it. WTF!
SkyeDS: ow <cringe>
evile: that's why it's important to read labels before you get the
stuff home & put it on :)
evile: learned that one the hard way....
SkyeDS: how goes the van project?
evile: Sweetie ended up buying another motor rather than trying to
rebuild the existing one.
evile: so now it is a matter of putting stuff on a rabbit engine to
make it compatible with vanagon fittings and THEN converting to
biodiesel/grease
SkyeDS: <blinks uncomprehendingly> ok
evile: *shrugs* Sweetie keeps me updated on the project, most of it
doesn't make a lick of sense.
SkyeDS: projects for today/tomorrow - things I understand, buying
Sineater new tires, getting him tuned up, getting my oil changed.
evile: sounds like fun!
SkyeDS: I want the RAnger fixed so I can commute with it too. It
gets twice the mileage my truck does.
evile: wow!
SkyeDS: Winged Spirit is such a gorgeous deck :) (sorry for non
sequitur)
evile: no problem--I know you have new toys ;)
SkyeDS: plan is to spend what I have to to get the Ranger 5 day
commutable, so that it will stay that way until we?fre secure enough
to lease some little economical something.
evile: There's a few inexpensive cars out there with good warranties
& stuff. Kia, Hyundai, Saturn.
SkyeDS: Kia?fs aren?ft safe, but I?fve considered Hyundai.
SkyeDS: just don?ft want a Metro. Might as well have a backpack and
a skateboard.
evile: I test drove one. It was not too bad. funny smell, though.
evile: (hyundai, not metro. )
I had a metro that was a rental...driving that thing in a rainstorm
in Indiana SUCKED
SkyeDS: your little wagon seems to be a good one.
evile: yeah, but it isn't cheap.
evile: price tag on it was 28K and my lease is a little more than
$350/month. Which I've since learned is a bit on the high side.
SkyeDS: well yeah, since leasing is supposed to be cheaper than
buying, I thought
evile: there's a stable in s. austin that has horses you can lease by
the month. $375, farrier, vet and 1 lesson a week included. I guess
I'm getting a better deal than that :)
SkyeDS: 28K is higher than the bluebook on my truck, but I got it
used, and for 3K under blue
SkyeDS: ....for 375 a month you could have your own horse.
evile: I paid 0 down and I won't have a payment at the end. So those
are the advantages of not buying.
SkyeDS: and you don?ft need lessons.
evile: Plus I won't be driving it once it develops old car 'quirks'.
SkyeDS: if you seriously wanted your own horse, you could board one
here. Just not a stallion, unless you?fre willing to help me put up
a piperail fence.
evile: If I were to buy a horse, I'd need a lot more than $375/month
to keep it safely & healthy.
evile: And I don't have the kind of time I'd want to spend. So no
horse for me.
evile: Same as with being childfree, I did the research on what it
would take to do it 'right' and I am OK with what I found out: I
don't have the time, energy, $ or temperament for it.
SkyeDS: I would be happy to keep a horse for you, for $50 a month.
Farrier costs me $50 every two months, for two horses (but that?fs
not shoes, but you don?ft need shoes, no more riding than you do)
evile: :) I appreciate the offer, but I am not cut out to be a horse
person. It's OK. I can borrow when I feel the need :)

SkyeDS: what last saw?
evile: um..."don't need shoes, no more riding than you do."
SkyeDS: nod. as far as children I'm in same sitch as you are,
however, Sineater deserves a child if he wants one, so eventually I need
to give him one. And the clock, unfortunately, is ticking...
evile: I'm sure he could find another bio-mom if it's that important
to him (part of that whole poly thing)?
SkyeDS: I don't think that would fly with him, although wouldn't
bother me in the least.
evile: Well, given your gyno troubles, I'd think it would be really
difficult, unhealthy & heartbreaking to try to conceive
SkyeDS: I have run all sorts of ideas past him...adopting, fostering,
surrogates, etc
SkyeDS: there is that too. and that may be the most difficult to
surmount.
evile: Pat & his wife have been trying since they got married (maybe
even before)....it's very sad for them.
SkyeDS: she lost the one right?
evile: No, she's lost 3-4 now.
SkyeDS: omg :(
evile: It's gotten to where they don't announce when they're
pregnant, because it's just too sad to have to go back and tell
everyone they lost the baby.
SkyeDS: no shit :(((
evile: She has a sister in law who is a total fertile myrtle, so if
worse came to worse, it's possible they'd try IVF with her as the
host. Assuming it's not a probem with blood types or something
SkyeDS: I know that's not the same, but it's better than nothing?
evile: IVF is sonya's egg & Pat's sperm, fertilized & stuffed up some
other woman, right? So what's the diff? you dont' have to go thru 9
months of misery & body-deformation. Sounds like a win to me!
SkyeDS: me too, but some women want to go through all that.
SkyeDS: giving Sineater phone again momentarily, brb
evile: OK
SkyeDS: looks like I am off to get my oil changed, Sineater wants to do
the Ranger tomorrow. He works midnight - 8 am tonight. <hugs> ciao
bella, catch you later (no killing or burning without me).
evile: *hugs* take care! Have fun!!
SkyeDS: a la prossima volta, bella
