Okay, so Hill Country Outdoors met tonight for 'blues
on the green'--live music in Zilker park. People bring
picnics, dogs, kids, blankets, folding chairs, etc.
It's a real Woodstock scene. e. wanted to do this,
and I agreed to go with her.
The place the HCO people were talking about meeting
was somewhere I wasn't sure I knew how to get to, so I
parked elsewhere & then e & I called each other on
our cellphones and I found the group. They were
setting up right out in the sunlight, and I was
already starting to be sunburned after walking the 15
min from my car & walking around for 10 looking for
them.
Anyway, she didn't like the HCO people. She thought
they were unfriendly and the women were (wait for it!)
"fussy and flaky" and "I don't like women like that"
*Bwahahahah*
To me, they looked just like her mtn bike friends:
young upwardly mobile professionals, tan with big
white teeth, politician haircuts on the men, shoulder
length ponytails on the women (all had straight &
natural-colored hair, of course--I was the only
burgundy haired one in the bunch), grown up sorority
girls and frat boys, wearing last year's ratty J Crew
as their 'play clothes', mouths full of smart talk,
heads empty of deep thought. Yeah, those kind of
people. Okay, the women were a bit more fat-ass than
her uber-fit mtn bike girlfriends...but still, they
seemed like e's kind of crowd.
So...I needed to sit in shade if I was gonna stay, and
I told the HCO leader guy this. And then, EVEN THOUGH
SHE SAID SHE HATED THEM, she did not want to come sit
in the shade with me, she preferred to stay in the sun
with the HCO folks. WTF!
So she and I walked to the food booths and she
dithered about what she wanted to eat, and bitched
about some mt. bike friend of hers who pinches her
butt and snaps her bra when he gets drunk, bla bla.
And then I left.
Music was supposed to start at 7. I got to my car
about 7:30 and still didn't hear anything coming from
the stage.
What a waste of my time.
