 trying to make and keep in good habits for the new year.

yesterday I fixed (re downloaded, really) the app for the home security cameras. Come to find out that the update I hadn't run or whatever it was that made the cameras and app stop talking to each other is an 'upgrade' where you have to pay for cloud storage. The reason I originally picked these cameras and this app was that I didn't have to subscribe to anything, it was just a plug and play. I can still access the cameras in real time thru the app, and do a screen shot myself if needed, but I can't access the short video it takes when motion is detected unless I buy the app. curses.

but I'm proud of  myself for getting the cameras up and working again. We got porch pirated last week and I was kinda mad about it.

I've also ordered a motion detector th at I'll put in the front window, and two receivers in the house, one for work room and one for living room to alert whenever anyone approaches the front door.

I've also put notices in the front window that we dont' open the door to ICE or Law Enforcement without a judicial warrant.

sick and sad times we live in. Porch pirates and murderous government agents.

Today was 'make the menu and do the shopping' day. So I got up, walked dogs. Brother A was off work so he made coffee and fed them while I got up and got showered and dressed. We had coffee and walked dogs. That was nice. He is empire building based on his expected inheritance....I don't like that much but I do the same sort of fantasizing when I buy lotto tix. It's pleasant and harmless to think about...but it's not so great to basically stake your entire future on an expectation that may or may not come to pass.

anyway, menu for the week:

Monday: Cabbage Fried Rice (I'll be making it with slightly less cabbage for 4 ppl, probably slightly more rice, and chicken + bacon both)

Tuesday: Chicken Tortilla Soup (I don't really have a recipe, it's  HEB seasoned chicken, rice, frozen fajita veggies, frozen corn, chicken broth, cooked in the instant pot, then served topped with sliced avocado, a squeeze of sour cream, and some tortilla chips

Wednesday: Pierogies. Pan fried with bell pepper, onion, and sliced sausage.

Thursday: Pot roast. (damn, beef is expensive these days). another no-recipe. beef, potatoes, carrots, onion, mushroom, seasoning, beef broth, instant pot, boom, done.

Friday:  Cowboy Spaghetti. Thax and I saw this one on a  youtube video. I"m not sure I'll be using the exact same recipe as the video, but basically it's a one pot pasta. With Texas Toast in the air fryer & salad.

so thats' my plan.

Every day I'll be walking and feeding dogs, doing my job hunting, trying to do something exercise-y for myself (I got a wobble board and I use it for a few minutes daily, and I have an under desk pedaler that I try to use while watching all of the stupid youtube videos I watch during the day. I have discarded about 10 lbs, only 90 more to go! LOLOLOLOL), and then I have a daily alarm monday thru friday that goes off and tels me what part of the house I should clean that day (bedroom, kitchen, dining, etc.).  I really need to work on decluttering (haha)

Um...and that's about it. Life goes on, whether I like it or not. And some day It'll be done.  

We booked a cruise in October. I hope that works out. Seems a long way off and lots can  happen in that amount of time.
