description: Christmas time is here and I thought there would be at
least one Christmas survey around here but guess what? There isn't
and well I just want to see what everybody thought of Christmas.......

Here are eekyfreeky's answers:

1. Christmas - when you think of Christmas, what comes to your mind?

Debt, guilt, consumption, being fat, feeling guilty, spending money,
feeling guilty.
2. Do you decorate for Christmas? If so, when is the best time to do
it and when do you do it? If not, why not? (all)
I put up lights outside the house & have some candles I only put out
at Xmastime. Lights all over the mantle. I have some lights in the
living room that stay up all year round. We hang up some xmas balls
from the living room lights.
3. If you do decorate, do you just do a Christmas tree or do you go
all out on decorating and have items all through out the house and
lights on everything. Nothing wrong with both, they are both cool.

No tree. Items in the house. Lights on the LR ceiling, candles in
guest bed & bathroom.
4. What kind of decorations do you have? Religion ones, Santa Claus,
Snowman, etc.? Porcelean stuff in different areas of the house....

Gold, silver, green. One year, I also had purple: candles, xmas
balls, garland, lights.
5. Do you go with the traditional color lights, or have white lights
or just some blue? Big lights or little ones? (all)
white, with some green ones on the mantel. Big ones outside, little
ones inside.
6. How many tress do you have up and is it one of those trees that
all matches or is it ones where the decorations are hand made? (all)
no tree. Oh, wait,I lied. We have a small fake tree that stays up all
year, it is decorated with plastic sporks.
7. Christmas stuff has been up around Halloween or before that? Do
you think it is too early for that stuff to be out? (all)
Oh, definitely. By the time Xmas gets here, I'm so damn sick of Xmas
carols, xmas decorations, the g-d Salvation Army bellringers outside
every damn store I go to, I wanna kill everyone and/or kill myself.
If stores would wait until after Thanksgiving, that would be cool.
8. Do you get caught up in all the hoopla on Christmas and get
everything associate with or some stuff or no at all? (all)
I have, in the past, felt guilty and horrible for not buying things
for people, so then I went and bought stuff anyway at the last minute
and drove myself crazy and racked up a bunch of credit card debt, but
then I felt bad about being in debt, so I've decided that if I'm
going to feel bad either way, I may as well feel guilty & not be in
any more debt.
9. Do you get a chance for your family to come together and celebrate
it and if so, what are some of your family traditions? Trading
stories of fav. Christmas, exchanging names, a big dinner, etc.?

my family is pretty scattered. Thanksgiving is usually our
big 'together' holiday. Xmas in recent years has become a 'sweeties
only' holiday.
10. What do you think of the different kind of food products that are
out just for Christmas? (Examples range from Chocolate chips being
red and green, m & m's being red and green, to crackers being tree
shape, carbonated cranberry drink, egg nog, etc). IF So What is your
fav. treat? (all)
Egg nog is great. Fudge is great. Candy canes in wierd flavors. I
like it all.
11. Do you make or eat the dishes that are associate with Christmas?
Some examples: Plum Pudding, Fig Pudding, Drink Egg nog or Custard,
Hot Cocoa, Fruit Cake. (all)
Just the egg nog. Fruit Cake is an abomination.
12. What kind of special dishes to you make for your holidays? Any
special recipe you would share? (all)
Not for XMas. I do a lasagne at Thankgiving, though.
13. DO you have a Christmas Party? If so, how big? And Christmas
Party at work? (all)
At work, we've been having potluck lunches since Dec 6. There was a
work-related holiday party at the expo center Dec 7. We are having a
party at our house this year, but this is the first Xmas one we've
done since we've been together.
14. DO you have special clothes just for Christmas? LIke clothes with
Santa Claus on it or snowman socks? (all)
I have a pair of grinch socks. My friend Liz gave me this little
mouse pin with a pitiful-looking mouse holding a tree that I usually
wear at least once in December.
15. Do you attend any of Christmas pagents, concerts, or parades? Do
you watch them on tv? (all)
Sometimes my goddessdaughter has a school event that her mom
remembers to tell me about. But that's about it.
16. When do you give out Christmas Gifts? If on Christmas day, do you
wake up very early in the morning? If you open them other days, do
you still get up on Christmas early even though you already open up
your gifts? (all)
We used to do Xmas eve at my grandmother's when she was alive and
that's when we'd open all the 'family' presents, and just
have 'santa' presents on Xmas day. These days, we open them whenever.
17. Do you wish for a White Christmas? (all)
Oh, heavens no!
18. Do you listen to Christmas music? Christmas music by pop stars or
some old classics? (all)
Not really. but I like stupid stuff, like parodies and covers of old
songs by thrash metal bands and stuff.
19. What is your fav. Christmas memory? (all)
Xmas in Vegas with my Sweetie 2 yrs ago.
20. Do you have any funny stories or embarrassing stories of
Christmas? (all)
My cousin [Cousin B] threw a fit once when he was 7 or 8 when my aunt [Aunt L]
and uncle [Uncle B] gave him clothes for XMas. He threw them on the floor
and screamed and cried "Clothes are NOT a present!!!" Now he is 15,
and [Aunt L] & [Uncle B] still give him clothes and [Aunt L] always says "I wrapped
it, even though I know 'clothes are not a present'"--the kid is never
gonna live it down.
21. What is your fav. part of Christmas? (all)
When it's over.
22. DO you bother with Christmas cards and why? If so do you get them
out after Thanksgiving or the day before Christmas eve? (all)
I send them mid-december, usually. I want people to know that I am
thinking of them and I care, even though I haven't bankrupted myself
to send them a bunch of crap they don't really want and can't really
use.
23. If you answer yes above, Do you give out religious cards,
sentimental or funny ones? (all)
funny, usually, or maybe something simple, like a picture of a holly
branch or cardinal, with no greeting pre-printed inside.
24. What do you like to do, give or receive? (all)
Neither, really. It's all guilt-inducing.
25. What was your fav. Gift receive and why? The worst and why? ANd
what was the best gift you gave to somebody? (all)
? Nothing is coming to mind.
26. Do you do any Charitible during this time? Example: Give to
Goodwill, or to give money to the Salvation Army? (all)
I usually pick a few animal or nature related charities and send them
a money order.
27. Last questions: Is it just me or you know Christmas season is
around the corner when you see the Chi Pet or the Clapper commercial
around? Do you by any chance have a chi Pet or the clapper? any GOOD?

I dont' see those commercials. Sweetie had a chia once--it got fruit
flies and stank. It was gross.
28. After Christmas, do you go out shopping for after Christmas
sales? If so, What time did you go and what was your best steal?

My aunt always drags us out to those. I am not a fan.

Why can't Santa have babies? He has snow balls. Why can't Santa have
