Smoking rant..... :-/
I recently had someone tell me that they have every right to smoke
and they knew they could get lung cancer and it was up to them, not
me.
You are so right! You can do that. However....you do not smoke in my
house, asshole. That's my call.
After I told the person I had worked at the Amercian Cancer Society
for ten months, he apologized. I wanted to really go off on him. I
wanted to say, "Yeah....you know how many people I spoke with that
wanted to smoke and live as they want, and now they were diagnosed
with lung cancer and had less than six months and wanted to know if
there was anything else they could do." Why were they calling ACS?
They had six months left to live. They did what they wanted to do,
right? They smoked what they wanted. I suppose the whole lung cancer
and death thing was supposed to happen to someone else, not them.
I remember a lady at ACS lost it and had to spend a few hours in the
room for crying because some young person had called. They were going
to die and they were poor. They wanted to know how to make funeral
arrangements because they had no close family.
Yeah....smoke all you want. It is your choice. It is MY choice not to
allow smoking in my house and not to give you money to support your
habit.
Here is a little something about cloves (scroll down):

acco_Use.asp?sitearea=PED
You'd be surprised how often I hear that cloves have flavor and
aren't as bad for you. Clove may have flavor, but they still have
nicotine and you can still get cancer. But hey....whatever helps you
sleep at night.....
As for cigars....I had someone tell me that cigars aren't as bad
because they smoked them in lower quantities. Okay....one cigar
equals seven cigarettes. You smoke two...you've already smoked half a
pack of cigarettes. Way to go.
Whatever.
Lie to yourself if it helps. Just don't lie to me. I've spoken to
people dying from them. And when I call back three months later for a
follow up, they're gone.
Don't expect my support if you smoke. I love you enough to worry
about your smoking. But hey...your life. Do what you want.

rock on,girlfriend.
I only smoke cloves when I'm feeling really wicked...and I know they
make my lungs bleed. Go big or stay home, that's what I say. I will
not bitch to you if I end up dying from it. :P

I try really hard to respect personal freedoms, but a personal
freedom that could end up killing you?? It just makes me sad. People
are allowed to smoke outside at my place and I do try to resepct
them. I just wish they would think about it.
You are so wicked!! ;-D But there are naughty things that are more
rewarding, aren't there??? ;-D
You can bitch to ACS if you want. It's what they're there for but
they can only do so much..... :-D

Everything has a risk - alcohol, caffeine, sugar, fat, running,
driving, hiking, camping, sex, walking across the street...one of
these days, something you've chosen to do will kill you. Life is
fatal. Anyway, as Redd Foxx said - "you sure would feel dumb at the
end of your life, sittin' there dyin' from NOTHIN'."
When I meet someone who is addicted to smoking (as opposed to someone
like me who smokes occasionally, maybe 4 a year) it grosses me out.
Sweetie smoked from age 15 to age 28, and he kicked the habit. I am
proud of him for that.
Oh, BTW, It's YOUR house, if someone can't control their addiction
long enough to be in your home and abide by your house rules, maybe
they should not visit. (and, yes, there are PLENTY of vrey rewarding
wicked things to do that don't pollute other people's air!)

My Dad was given the "quit smoking or die" from his doctor. After
more than 25 years of smoking, he quit. I was so proud. He told me
later he quit because he didn't want the nieces to see him smoking
and think that it was okay. I thought that was an awesome reason to
quit. Why was it okay for me to see it?? ;-D
We have a professor here who smokes so much that I CANNOT be in an
enclosed space like my office or mailroom with him. His clothes smell
so bad! Another downside to smoking - really BAD SMELL!!! ;-D
Ewwwwwww!!!!!
If I die from nothing, I am going to be upset with myself. ;-D
I also have my addictions which are bad: caffeine and chocolate.
That's why I gave up sodas for Lent. I was trying to deal with the
caffeine addiction. ;-D I need a better diet!!!
