    evile: boo!
    SkyeDS: good morning :)
SkyeDS: /me is summarizing medical notes, which is boring as hell
    evile: sounds like.
SkyeDS: I think someone should just fly a plane into the medical board
SkyeDS: they let doctors like Zidd nearly kill my friend by
    misdiagnosis
SkyeDS: and then t hey go after doctors who have done absolutely
    nothing wrong
evile: I was unhappy when they passed the cap on medical damages.
evile: supposedly to bring down medical costs. It's not gonna happen.
SkyeDS: I asked Hugh if there weren't some way we could be activists
to agitate that something be done, and he's thinking about it, and
    talking to important people
evile: It's the insurance companies that are playing both sides
against the middle, and as long as HMOs are in business, doctors and
patients are going to get screwed.
SkyeDS: in this instance the MEd Board was letting doctors with sex
    crime convictions continue to practice
SkyeDS: so, the Dallas MOrning News rightly nailed them on it
SkyeDS: so now, they're going after doctors for things like having a
glass of wine with dinner off duty
    evile: yuck!
SkyeDS: looking at porn on their own time (legal porn)
SkyeDS: and a whole slew of other things that there's absolutely
    nothing wrong with
SkyeDS: and letting doctors like Zidd who shouldn't be practicing
    keep right on at it
    evile: How awful.
    SkyeDS: zactly
SkyeDS: from one extreme to the other
    SkyeDS: I f'ing hate extremes.
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: a friend of a friend of Hugh's is a bigtime medical lawyer in
Texas, a nd he wants to nail the Board for civil rights infractions
SkyeDS: that would be all kinds of a fun case (constitutional)
    evile: I bet
SkyeDS: finished with my little report, now I'm going to eat at a
    decent time
    evile: awesome :)
SkyeDS: Hugh would make ever so much more money if he billed out for
    me too
evile: Yeah, but that would be a hassle for you, keeping a log of
    billable hours & such
    SkyeDS: I already do
evile: oh...so why doesn't he bill for you?
    SkyeDS: no clue
SkyeDS: he is so used to doing all for himself
SkyeDS: it's taken a while to get him to relinquish simple things
like phones, faxes, mail and bills
    evile: aha.
SkyeDS: and yesterday I got him to give me collections, including the
    stop work notices and withdrawals.
evile: That is a definite time-saver for him.
SkyeDS: I told him, if you don't stop doing work for people who don't
pay you, I'll just hijack your files and take them home with me and
    hide them until they pay
    evile: heh
SkyeDS: sineater gave me this Smart Ones for lunch...peppercorn mustard
beef w/ garlic potatoes, quite tasty (just small)
evile: I like everything but 'healthy choice' I've tried so far in
    the healthy frozen dinners section
evile: Healthy choice puts high fructose corn syrup in everything.
Like, chicken. Because everyone loves syrup on chicken, don't you know
SkyeDS: corn syrup in the ingredients 8 times in "nutri grain"
evile: Well, it's supposed to be sweet.
SkyeDS: I didn't realize it was that nutritious
    evile: Usually, if I have a salad with a pre-packaged micro-dinner,
that pretty much fills me up.
evile: I also keep a supply of nuts in my desk drawer, 4-5 almonds or
whatever can keep my hungry tummy busy.
evile: Plus they have vitamins, protein & such that pretzels or
    goldfish crackers don't.
SkyeDS: almonds macademias and pistachios are yummy
evile: I like everything but cashews.
evile: for some reason, cashews are gross to me. I don't know why.
evile: I've been reading good things about Brazil nuts. I may get
some in bulk one of these days.
    SkyeDS: Arthur likes them
evile: I like real hazelnuts, but I despise nutella and anything
    hazelnut flavored (coffee, chocolate, etc.)
    SkyeDS: I LOVE hazelnut
SkyeDS: hazelnut and almond together even better
SkyeDS: yummy = amaretto and frangelico together
evile: Almonds rock. I wish almond trees grew here.
SkyeDS: Italian herbs like to grow here, wonder why not almonds
    evile: water
evile: herbs can do OK just about anywhere because they're basically
    weeds we've found uses for.
evile: (I've killed herbs before, too, sadly enough!)
    SkyeDS: lol
evile: I love planting stuff, even though most of it dies. The stuff
that makes it is always nice.
evile: I'm getting all crazed to start new plants & stuff, but I've
got to see how my end of lease & my surgery costs shake out first :(
SkyeDS: I suppose insurance considers t his t o be elective?
    evile: nope
evile: But I have to pay 20% of the amount the Dr. bills out-of-pocket
evile: 'co insurance' is the term, I think. It sucks.
SkyeDS: old fashioned pre HMO/PPO insurance
SkyeDS: although it used to have a cap on out of pocket I think per
    year
SkyeDS: and then if you had an medical flex account you could pay
your co insurance w/ pre tax money
evile: They changed ours last April & it's sucked ever since.
SkyeDS: Mom mentions that every now and again with her insurance
(through tex comm college, which is probably state but maybe not the
same as yours, I don't know)
SkyeDS: speaking of which I need to ask how daddy's cataract surgery
    went
evile: different areas of the state have different options. in the
capitol area it's BCBS or nothing. up in Temple they still have Scott
    & White OR BCBS.
evile: So your mom may still have options. but I think eventually
everyone will have BCBS. Those clueless jerks.
SkyeDS: I know there is some difference in what the state provides
the education system and everyone else but I don't know what, I'd
    have to ask her
evile: I hope your dad's procedure went OK. I'd hate to ever have
    someone messing with my eyes
SkyeDS: yeah, that would bother me on about the same level with my
    fingers
SkyeDS: I think I'd rather have them mess with my brain
    evile: heh.
evile: at least if they messed up your brain, you'd never know....
    SkyeDS: LOL
evile: I was reading some paranoid wacko's website about the evil
government putting 'happiness drugs' into the water and
beaming 'happiness stuff' into our brains. Hell, if I'd be happy all
the time, maybe it would be worth it...
    SkyeDS: LOL
evile: Then again, I don't think there's anything that effects 100%
    of the population the same.
evile: for example, ritalin is speed, but it makes ADHD people calm
whereas if I took it, I'd be bouncing off the walls.
evile: alcohol makes some people mad and some people sad and some
people happy and some people sleepy. It can make the same person mad
or sleepy or happy, depending on when/where it's imbibed
evile: And we all know the government can't even build a road without
screwing something up, so what are the odds they'd make a drug or
brain controlling satellite that would be effective :P
    SkyeDS: ROFL point
evile: Wher'es the Illuminati when you need them ? :P
    SkyeDS: heehee
evile: My friend knighthorse's LiveJournal post for today upped my paranoia
a notch--a picture of the latest military vehicle 'for use in war
    and homeland security'....eeps!
evile: I went to see a local production of "The Vagina Monologues" on
Sun, and they quoted some horrific figure for wartime rapes. I am
very glad to be sterile right now.
evile: Because you can bet tht if they turn a bunch of 18 year old
soldierboys against the American population, there will be 'wartime
rapes' in the name of Homeland Security.
evile: I'm just full of happy thoughts today. Obviously the satellite
    isn't working. next subject!!!
SkyeDS: bb in 30, going to take a walk :)
evile: good :) Have a great walk!
