1985weekend, dreams

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but the big screwy dinner got
cancelled. I don't know if Uncle Bubba flaked too, but apparently
The Rubber Pig's kids were sick, bla bla. Oh well. Aunt L thinks The Pig didn't
have a big enough audience lined up, so she didn't feel like showing
up. Sweetie & I got leftover lasagne & salad stuff out of the deal, so
that's cool.
I had an excellent Vegan meal (amazing!!) & enjoyed a very thought &
emotion provoking show at the Rhizome Collective. It was awesome. I'm
all inspired to be a Woman Warrior again. Krav Maga. Womens Self
Defense. Raar!
I met a few nice people, & J.(curly hair, poly group) came for
the show but not the dinner, so we got to visit a little before the
show, and he said something very sweet about owing his confidence as
a dancer to me. apparently I introduced him to Z Helene, he took a
dance class from her, and now he goes to this thing called 'body
choir' which is like a aerobics/trance dance/dance therapy thing.
Some hippie dippie new age crap, but he feels like it's good for
him & enjoys it and 'owes it all to me'. I was flattered, but I did
tell him that the final push came from within, *He* is the one who
took the dance class & made the effort. It was very sweet, though.
Sunday, I had lunch w/Rio & we shopped & I got a new pair of dangly
earrings that went with my gypsy-renfaire look for the day, and Rio
got a cute black clutch purse with a red oriental dragon embroiedered
on it. Then we went with her husband & son to the HFS park & I
introduced them around to the people I knew. There was some
unpleasantness with the Live Oak cops. Apparently skye_ds had emailed
some city official to get permission to have the horses at the
park. Since he didn't reply, she went ahead and assumed the horses
would be allowed (I would have assumed the opposite, but oh well.)
The city functionary showed up and told her to leave, she said
'no', and then he called the police, who said something about a 'word
of mouth ordinance' which authorized them to tell her to get the
horses out of the park. She demanded an actual code or ordinance
number that she was violating, they continued to say 'word of mouth
ordinance' and she finally decided not to fight with them. So she
negotiated a compromise in which the horses were put in the trailer &
she and her men and the bird stayed in the park.
It was a totally manufactured drama and she enjoyed the attention &
whatnot, but to her credit she did not freak or cry or do any 'I'm a
high priestess' or even 'I'm a paralegal so I know the law' nonsense.
She did try to get sineater stirred up, but thank heaven he didn't go
there.
What can I say, they are always taking the animals places where they
might not be welcome. Push your luck and eventually it'll break down,
ya know?
ANYWAY, other than the stupid cop drama, the day was nice and the
park was pretty and the people were pleasant.
After Rio had a chance to say hi and bye to sineater (he was out getting
them some fast food when the cop stuff went down & he just came back
for the last of it), we took off and got ice cream.
It was a nice visit with Rio, her husband & kiddo, anyway. He's a great kid.

Dreamt that I went wine tasting & Sisterdale/Sister Creek vineyards
needed a teacher, so I got the lady's card & was going to give it to
my mom. There was some other place I went, too, where they needed a
teacher & I was going to give the card to my mom.

What a relief about the dinner. Interesting comment from Aunt L...
Sounds like you had a nice, relatively drama-free weekend. The
horse/ordinance thing is so classically UB. But, I am glad to hear
that she didn't kick up too much of a fuss over it.
----
me:
I think perhaps skye_ds is learning that it only makes her look bad
when she creates a drama and then screeches & carries on. She is
learning to paint herself in a better light by instigating stuff
behind the scenes and then being calm and reasonable in front of the
audience for whom the scene has been set. She gets more sympathy that
way. I think she is moving from "any attention is good attention" to
a more adult(?) (and/or sociopathic & manipulative) perspective. I
don't know if that's a good or bad thing. Makes hanging out with her
somewhat less nerve-wracking but I have never been one to enjoy being
manipulated.
I made what will probably be a fatal error in telling sonar0m that I
would have assumed no answer meant NO rather than take my chances on
an ugly scene, but hopefully he'll be too chickenshit and/or
scatterbrained to repeat that to UB.
I think I was in trouble with her before this weekend, anyway. No
clue exactly what/why, and I don't really care. Possibly because I
was ragging on The Rubber Pig the other day in ICQ & the traits I found
objectionable in The Pig hit too close to UB's own unpleasant traits & she
saw that--but that is attributing a LOT of introspective ability to
UB, and I don't really think she has it.
But she was polite at the park, and nice to my friends, so that's the
important thing.
Sineater was doing entirely too much fetching & carrying & taking care of
critters while she sat and ate and ran her mouth, but...she wasn't
bossing him into it, it's just that he's more conscientious about
taking care of the critters than she is. Not to the point where he'd
insist they leave if he felt the trailer was going to be too hot for
them to stay in all afternoon, but at least to the point where he
made sure they were secure & watered and Arthur was settled on his
perch before he allowed himself to sit & visit.
===
* another possible error: I was on my way out of town & thought I'd
check in & see if E/A/sonar0m were going to the feast. So I called sonar0m's
cell phone & talked to his dad. I did not mention I was in SA or that
sonar0m was with skye_ds, I just said something about I was wondering
if he was going to dinner with the "high fantasy people" or not.
So...hopefully that did not get sonar0m in trouble with his folks. I
tried to find his email addy to give him a heads-up, but I couldn't
find one. Oh well.

Not to mention - I am racking up major good

I liked that one of [Rio's son], too. So cute!!
v.v.v.v.v.v.v.g. perspective re: UB. It does indeed
suck that her manipulations are more subtle, but the
fact is, she was always manipulative and will always
be manipulative. At this point, as you recognize,
the crucial thing is that she behaves in public, and
that is huge.

me to J-law:
Did you notice the neck brace, btw? Apparently UB has something like
carpal tunnel only in her neck and is doing this whole thing of 'the
doctors say I may never be able to move my neck again, but I just
keep saying I'm *not* permanently disabled,' bla bla. It was filthy,
BTW. Like she got it at Goodwill or found it in a closet & needed
some sympathy (and an 'out' at her temp gig where they wanted her to
move boxes). Oh well. She wasn't awful about it.
I went to the Post office at break to get a money order and I noticed
on the way back that I _stink_. OMG, I think I forgot to put on
deodorant. ew. Mondays suck.
