evile: hey :) WB, finally :P
SkyeDS: we have federal litigation going on in the Valley all next
week
evile: oof. yucko.
SkyeDS: I am somewhat amazed that my head is still attached to the
rest of me, boss had very bad day yesterday. thankfully not so bad
today, yet.
SkyeDS: the judge is in NM, Hugh asked to have venue set in Corpus,
and they haven't given him a damn thing he's asked for
evile: ick. sorry to hear that :(
SkyeDS: yesterday was particularly bad because our one expert witness
is trying to weasel out on us, which will destroy our case
SkyeDS: I told Hugh we ought to kneecap him with a small handgun, he
might find that persuasive.
evile: wow...yuck.
evile: And I thought I was having a bad day :P
evile: that definitely puts things into perspective for me.
SkyeDS: well, kiss today goodbye too (as a good day). No expert
witness (which means we have in effect no case).
evile: I'm sorry to hear it. That really sucks.
SkyeDS: well, this too shall pass, eventually....
evile: *nod* Just gotta hang in there until it does.
SkyeDS: as I understand it we have the power of subpoena so I really
don't know why we aren't using it
SkyeDS: but mine is not to question why, mine is but to do or die
evile: *nod*
evile: I got behind on my work this a.m., and then somebody brought
in a kid, and then they ordered pizza for lunch. So today is not a
big production day for me so far.
SkyeDS: what happened to no visitors including kids I wonder
evile: *shrug* It's very selectively enforced.
SkyeDS: nice (/sarcasm)
evile: yeah.
evile: Oh well. It does me no good to focus on stupid crap I can't do
anything about i.
SkyeDS: just two more hours and it's a pretty day out
evile: yup. and hopefully Uncle Karma will pay 'em a nice visit :P
evile: K/Mom and G/Dad kept complaining about how hot it was in
Greencastle...nothing compared to here. Even leaving the house at
6:30 a.m. this week, I've gotten sweaty on the way to the bus stop
evile: this a.m. wasn't as bad as yesterday.
evile: Poly dinner last night was nice. Lots of people brought their
kids & they really seemed to enjoy the playscape. As always, I
enjoyed wandering through "Food Disneyland."
SkyeDS: was it at whole foods?
evile: yeah, the new WF on Lamar. I got to talk to a guy who I
originally thought was kind of creepy, but he's OK.
evile: His wife bit someone and drew blood at a play party (without
permission from the bite-ee), so I still think she's creepy. But he
seems nice. Kind of socially awkward, but not a bad person.
SkyeDS: ow??!
evile: yeah, no shit. Everyone was kind of piled up and cuddling and
then all of the sudden fuckin Fang of the South attacks!
SkyeDS: blood = infection risk
evile: exactly.
evile: Plus..in what universe is it OK to pile on top of a bunch of
people who are petting and cuddling and sink your teeth into the
nearest leg?
evile: 90-99% of the polys & kinksters (or, really, insert any
subculture here) are perfectly normal, decent human beings, it's that
last little percent that gives the rest a bad name.
SkyeDS: so it wasn't even a roughhousing type play party
evile: or, at least not the puppy pile that she intruded on wasn't a
roughhousing type pile.
SkyeDS: cuddle doesn't usually imply teeth
SkyeDS: I mean, I love teeth, but not teeth and blood and cuddle
evile: *nod* yup.
SkyeDS: what universe indeed...
evile: Oh well...chalk up another for the 'improving first
impressions' pool.
evile: all the same, I'm glad he didn't bring the wife :P
evile: Robin was there with 2 kids. They were cute.
SkyeDS: Brandy's joke about babysitting was funny, I can't remember
exactly what she said but I remember bits and pieces about baseball
bats (I think?) and bricks (definitely)
evile: heh.
evile: the playscape was great, the patio wasn't crowded at all, and
there were enough kids that they kept themselves entertained very
well.
SkyeDS: will have to take the Boy there sometime
SkyeDS: always happy to find new places to take the Boy, even happier
when they have healthy options
evile: It's a really nice place, good food, nice patio, great
fountain.
SkyeDS: fountain :)
evile: it's kind of an in-ground, natural creek-looking thing, but at
night it has neon
SkyeDS: playground have slide?
evile: 2, I think.
SkyeDS: the Boy and his daddy have to have slides ;)
SkyeDS: I would have been swinging on the swings at Youth Academy
late afternoon/early evening while everyone else was on the slides
but I nearly passed out from heat exhaustion as it was.
SkyeDS: and sonar0m and sineater both brought scorpions back from the
park :( sineater got stung by a red one, and sonar0m found a brown one
(worse) in his backpack before it stung anybody
evile: ouchies.
SkyeDS: it amazes me some of the slides I've seen sineater fit into
evile: heh. too cute. :)
SkyeDS: I suppose, until he finds one that I need crisco to get him
out of
evile: heehee :)
evile: I think either it was too hot yesterday or people just
havent' discovered the upstairs patio, because it was basically us,
and maybe 6 other people on teh whole upstairs patio.
SkyeDS: I can understand the heat thing
evile: they had those big box-fan looking swamp coolers and a tent up
by the area closer to the elevator.
evile: in the shade, with a breeze, it wasn't bad at all.
evile: I still haven't been 'real' grocery shopping there...just
wandering around staring.
SkyeDS: alice in wonderland
evile: *nod*
evile: OMG< launchcast just played a sex pistols song I'd never heard!
SkyeDS: and you only have an hour left to boot :)
evile: *nod*
evile: and now it's playing a Cradle of Filth cover of "No Time to
Cry"....*happy sigh* I love my music.
SkyeDS: :D
evile: I think I'd go crazy at work without my tunes.
SkyeDS: nodnods
evile: I was thinking of writing about last night in my LJ, but ..eh.
I wonder if it will make onyxlynxx more or less homesick to hear what she
missed :P
SkyeDS: lol
evile: she is usually the one who writes up who was there and all of
that.
evile: hey! You added interests to your LJ info page :)
SkyeDS: I did it the easy way, I stole everyone else's
evile: I think that's pretty much how everyone gets started :)
SkyeDS: doesn't nearly begin to reflect my true musical and literary
interests but it is limited to 150
evile: yup. me too.
evile: it's always interesting to find commonalities with people when
superficially you are very different.
SkyeDS: the question being, are the similarities superficial, or are
the differences superficial
evile: heh. that's true.
evile: kulilinei's got some interesting ones, stuff I've never heard of
and don't know what the heck they are. I always mean to ask her about
them, but I forget.
SkyeDS: sticky notes to self are good, so is lookin up stuff online
evile: *nod*
evile: I'm more interested in what it means to her, rather than
dictionary definitions. Ok, you're a buddhist
(strega/catholic/shiite/unitarian/whatever) and I can look up
principles and rules and bla bla, but how do you apply that to
yourself, your daily life, etc.
SkyeDS: some of that can be discerned from what she posts
evile: *nod* yeah. that was just an easy example I cam eup with, but
that's the kind of things I'd like to talk about, if i ever remember
& we get a free minute to talk-talk..
SkyeDS: hard to talk to everybody when the gatherings are so big
evile: Or like, I say I like "yoga" but I don't do Peter-style yoga
(fasting, vegetarianism, practice twice a day, etc.) so..I like to
know what people mean by 'interest'. there's lots of stuff that I
like but is not a crucial part of my daily existence.
evile: it would be neat if you could 'rank' your interests, to show
which ones were the closest to your heart and daily existence, and
which were more like "neat stuff I like"
SkyeDS: true
evile: or like, you and I both list horses...but your interest is
close to your heart and part of your life, wheras mine is "yeah
they're neat"
SkyeDS: yepyep
evile: gives you avenues of conversation w/people, anyway
SkyeDS: you could list them in order of importance if it didn't
automatically alphabetize
evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: some are so major they should have subcategories or give you
more room to list
SkyeDS: music, politics, religion, literature, for example
evile: *nod* :)
SkyeDS: everyone has those interests
SkyeDS: so why not have a standardized checklist that people can use
for those things and not count them towards the 150
evile: that'd be more useful than 'tags' :P
SkyeDS: or just not have a limit at all
evile: I'm sure that'd get out of hand fast. :)
SkyeDS: set up music, movies, literature, politics, religion and
sports, put up to 150 in each, and then keep the current general
miscellaneous to put 150 in
evile: yeah..but then you've got people who just want to be able to
look at 1 profile page and get a good idea of who you are...who don't
want to go to several pages of interest lists. I think the idea is to
keep it a 'snapshot' and if there's enough info there to interest the
person, then they add you to their friends list and read entries.
SkyeDS: that makes sense
SkyeDS: mine are probably going to change every time I'm bored with
nothing better to do
evile: Or maybe that's why they get communities, so if you belong to
X community, the interests of that comunity are likely to be 150 of
yours.
evile: *nod* I change mine out every now and again.
evile: well, time for me to make my rounds w/paper.
SkyeDS: wind to your wings :)
evile: *hugs* have a good evening.
