evile: Sounds like you had a productive weekend!
SkyeDS: ya.
evile: that's good :) Are you seeing some light at the end of that
tunnel?
SkyeDS: slowly but surely
evile: excellent :)
SkyeDS: I think I've decided I don't give a damn anymore, what
happens happens.
SkyeDS: I know the house won't be finished next Sunday, but next
Sunday is supposed to be the first nice day in a long long while, and
I"m going riding regardless.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: got our copies of a book Hugh wrote a chapter for today,
that's nice
evile: cool!
SkyeDS: and someone I've never met complimented my writing today, so
that was nice too.
SkyeDS: Hugh finally bought a long needed new printer
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and the cash flow has increased at least temporarily
evile: all good news :)
SkyeDS: it will be nice to see sunshine again, eventually
SkyeDS: especially if we get away this year without a 3 day freeze
like the last few years around this time
evile: yeah. I've felt like hibernating lately.
SkyeDS: I noticed news casts using mardi gras and carnivale
interchangeably (particularly in terms of 6th street and NOLA)
evile: *nod*
evile: the mardi gras 'season' in NO is Epiphany to the Tuesday
before Ash Wednesday.
SkyeDS: I really like the Chuy's we went to last night, much
nicer/more upscale (but then it's round rock)
SkyeDS: covered and heated and better parking
evile: nice.
SkyeDS: gorgeous rosewood antique mirror over the bar
evile: wow..
SkyeDS: just a little change. we used to go to Chuy's on
Kramer/Lamar on Sat nights after Barad Duin
SkyeDS: we can go to this one on Sunday nights after Drandmir.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: and if we get bored, there's a Rudy's bbq with a covered
patio next to, and Johnny Carino's with a patio next to that
SkyeDS: which was actually where we were headed last night but they
were closed for SBS dammit
evile: yeah...I heard a lot of regular Sunday places were closed for
the game.
SkyeDS: found out watching PBS that Johnny Carino is from Central
Texas and has a cooking show.
evile: I knew the family had been in TX a few generations, from
their commercials.
SkyeDS: Carino's is good for what it is. Better than Olive Garden.
SkyeDS: and having one in Round Rock with a patio suits.
evile: *nod*
evile: I tried to call my mom on Sunday, I was thinking of trying to
go see her on the 13th.
evile: I haven't mentioned it to sineater yet, mostly because I don't
want to make any plans until I check in with Mom, but also because I
don't know if he would be interested in going, or if he can be spared
from critter-duty, etc.
SkyeDS: asking him what he wants to do is always a loaded ? anyway
SkyeDS: he says he wants to do one thing and typically doesn't get
out of bed in time to do what he says he wants to do
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: then when I say, well, I'm doing this, and you can go with or
not, whatever, makes no nevermind to me, he says, I don't really want
to
SkyeDS: the entire time but comes with anyway
SkyeDS: and then says after we get home, that was fun
evile: Sweetie does that a lot, too.
SkyeDS: I'm already expecting a "but but but" battle Sunday anyway
SkyeDS: when I tell him, if it's a pretty day, I'm taking the horses
out, I'm not working on the trailer
SkyeDS: and he can't work on the trailer by himself, because he knows
as well as we do that he can't be trusted not to do with his thumb
what he isn't supposed to
evile: you've already stated your plans for the 13th in LJ at least,
so it shouldn't come as a complete shock..
SkyeDS: he doesn't do it on purpose, he just doesn't think about it
till one of us sees it and says are you supposed to do that/
SkyeDS: ?
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: he hasn't been reading LJ a lot lately
SkyeDS: and it wouldn't matter if I told him every single day three
times a day at meals, he'll still forget it till I get up and ready
to get out and he'll be all, where are you going?
evile: heh.
SkyeDS: so, you're damned if you remind him enough for it to be
nagging (more than twice)
SkyeDS: and damned if you don't anyway
SkyeDS: and he does the same thing when he wants you to go somewhere
with him
SkyeDS: thinks he's told you but he hasn't
evile: When we all lived in the big house, Stepdad used to keep a big
dry-erase calendar for just that reason, I think.
SkyeDS: so he comes in and you're naked on the couch with a blanket a
book and wine, or whatever, and he says, are you ready to go?
SkyeDS: does it LOOK like I'm ready to go? where would we be going
that this is ready to go?
evile: heh.
SkyeDS: I don't know where *you're* going but chances are, I ain't
about to go there like this, no.
evile: yup
SkyeDS: our white board is small and getting all filled up
SkyeDS: with phone numbers that need to be permanently written down
somewhere
evile: This one that Stepdad had was a 3 month, where you'd right in the
name of the month & put the #'s in the calendar squares.
SkyeDS: good news being, I found a carpet cleaning company that runs
off their trucks so it doesn't matter that the nastyass monkeys let
the power get cut off
SkyeDS: and they specialize in restoration
evile: cool.
SkyeDS: so the carpet is getting cleaned friday whether the boys are
ready or not
evile: excellent.
SkyeDS: I've already bought them tarps and drop cloths
evile: good plan.
SkyeDS: but I cannot stand being in there hours at a time with the
urine and mold smells
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: so yes, we'll just have to be extra careful not to get the
carpets messed up again
SkyeDS: and I wouldn't be surprised if half of the carpet still won't
need to be replaced
SkyeDS: but I think only half of it, and I don't think it's all that
tacky to have different carpet in different rooms, if it's done right
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: in this instance there would be a complete separation because
the kitchen tile would be in between
SkyeDS: replace the guest room and the living room, but leave the
back hall, bathroom and master bedroom intact
SkyeDS: wtf is with carpet in a bathroom anyway.
SkyeDS: I would ask sineater while he's at it in the bathroom to tile it
and take the carpet out but I think if I asked him to do one more
thing he'd shoot me in the face with a bazooka.
evile: yeah. I think that's a 70's thing We're going to get the guest
bath refloored oneathesedays.
SkyeDS: if I remember correctly, mom's guest bathroom is tiled and
her masterbath is carpeted
SkyeDS: both of ours in the ranch house are carpeted.
evile: both of ours were carpeted when we moved in.
SkyeDS: I told the professionals I expected one of two things to
happen. They'll get there, and either find I'm a complete
hypochondriac and it isn't as bad as I think it is
SkyeDS: or it's worse, and will have to be replaced
SkyeDS: neither will surprise or upset me
evile: "expect the worst, hope for the best" is a pretty good policy
when it comes to stuff like that.
SkyeDS: this is the Steam Team
SkyeDS: I looked at their testimonials and have heard about them on
the radio
SkyeDS: they agreed to look at each individual room, clean what could
be cleaned, and not clean what needed replacing, and not charge me
SkyeDS: can't beat that with a stick, in the situation I find myself
in now
SkyeDS: and they have an excellent webpage
evile: sounds good.
SkyeDS: even have a home remedy stain removal page
SkyeDS: said, do you take credit cards? yes? that cinches the deal.
SkyeDS: saving up all the receipts to sue, you know
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: might not get blood out of that turnip but I'll feel a whole
sight more better having beat the turnip into a nice mash
evile: heh.
SkyeDS: what did the Gemini say when asked to pay for the battle of
San Juan Hill?
SkyeDS: (Charge It!)
evile: :P
SkyeDS: what kind of monkeys don't clean a home in six months?
evile: that's pretty nasty.
SkyeDS: the stove had to be cleaned with a wire brush
evile: ew.
SkyeDS: which took off paint, and then it had to be repainted
evile: jeez.
SkyeDS: the inside a/c has not been cleaned in I don't know how long.
evile: sounds really nasty!
SkyeDS: I know my housekeeping standards are not up to yours or my
mother's, but my home is not a health hazard.
SkyeDS: I do not understand how people can live that way.
evile: nope. Me neither.
SkyeDS: you said you tried to get hold of your mom, I take that to
mean you haven't managed to yet?
evile: nope.
SkyeDS: and going is contingent upon?
evile: Well, I'm not a rude jerk, and I don't want to just show up on
a day/time when she's not expecting me. I'm silly like that.
SkyeDS: I thought that was the case. But I don't like making
assumptions, I frequently turn out wrong when I do.
evile: her b-day is monday the 14th, so I was thinking of going up,
taking her out to lunch, nice visit, and then come home.
SkyeDS: I relayed it as tentative hinging on phone contact, so I will
now step out and let the two of you communicate
SkyeDS: :)
evile: I wasn't going to bring it up at all until I know for sure
when/if I'm going....
SkyeDS: I gave it to him as something to think about
SkyeDS: given how he is about plans, sometimes I really don't think
it matters
evile: no point in thinking about it yet, IMO
SkyeDS: lol, well, no problem there, unless one of us brings it up
again, he will forget all about it :)
evile: I just have to find/make time to call again that isn't too
early or too late. I was hoping Nana had an answering machine, but it
just rings & rings.
SkyeDS: he's gotten the same thing
evile: and I hatehatehate talking to her on her cell because it cuts
out all the time.
SkyeDS: <pleads ignorance of cell phones
evile: they suck.
SkyeDS: were it not for sonar0m I would not be able to operate mine at
all
evile: *grin*
SkyeDS: I have mastered making calls and receiving them and one of
the games by myself, and that's it.
evile: *shrug* tha's about all you need, minus the game.
evile: everything else is just fluff.
SkyeDS: oh, and the calculator, I can work the calculator
evile: heh.
evile: well, time for me to head out. Since today was so peaceful,
I'm sure tomorrow will be a zoo here.
SkyeDS: wind to your wings :)
evile: you too. Have a good evening :)
