The post office lady seems to doubt whether it is deliverable.

The address was written too high on the envelope, she pointed out, as
she affixed the certified mail sticker and called my attention to the
fact that the sticker went over part of the word 'internal'

I'm sorry, I said. But doesn't the ZIP code only go to one place?

Yes, but it's written so high on the envelope the machine may not
read it.

I'm sorry. I don't have another envelope.

No, no problem, I'm just telling you for next time, don't put the
address so high up on the envelope.

You know...after I've said "I'm sorry" THREE times, I think it's
pretty obvious that there's nothing I can do other than say I'm sorry
& regret inconveniencing you, so there's no need to keep beating me
over the head with my mistake.
