Forgot to write about skate nite.

Jason was there, also Thomas Rhymer/Jeff, and David from no kidding.
He & Lynn went to WA state for Xmas, went skiing. Sounds fun. He
asked what the movie was this month. I told him "Labyrinth". He said
he'd dressed up like Bowie [but not Labyrinth Bowie] for Halloween
before. *sigh* he looks ALOT like Bowie--yum yum. His wife was
    nowhere to be seen. aaa!

Met Jeff, a fellow Ms. Pac Man enthusiast. He had the current high
score on the game. I did really well until he started looking over my
shoulder--3 screens past 'baby' I think. maybe 2. He wanted to play 2
player after that, but my hand was all sweaty & cramped up.
Anyway...next week maybe we'll play 2-player. I told him about no
kidding a bit--he is divorced & non-custodial parent. some NK people
are really militant about it, but I am cool with just doing stuff
with other adults and no kids, regardless of whether the adults have
    kids at home or whatever.

The snack bar area is open now--I think maybe I'll ask if I can put
the NK sign in there next time.

    me:
I'm so glad things are going smoothly for the new house! It is very
nice of your friends to take you in while things are finalizing!

I got a very weird call from a guy who'd seen my resume on
monster.com. It sounds like a scam to me. I think they got
the 'sales' keyword from my resume when I did inside sales and now
they're trying to get me into some kind of weirdo commission-only
type thing. I dunno, it could be something real. But the guy sounded
so salesman-scumbag on the phone, I immediately felt a red flag go
up. But...I need practice interviewing, so I'll go. And then I'll
    turn them down. Go me.
    =======
    jen:
Hey girl!!! Did I tell you I got a raise, too? A huge one. The
biggest one among the staff. An extra 2 grand per year, which works
out to 83 bucks a paycheck.
The job thing does sound sketchy. But, the interview practice will be
good, as well as telling those guys to fuck off when it's all over.
    ===============
    Me:
whee!! What an awesome raise--perfect timing, too. :)
I think I'll ask for at least 5 grand more a year than I'm making
here. That'll make 'em think twice. Plus, if it's legit, my car
insurance will go up and my car maintenance & gas expenses will go up
because I'll be commuting instead of taking the bus.
bad sign: I looked up the business name in the employer database and
it's not there. Also, I checked 'google' and the first thing that
came up was about 3 sites for 'get rich quick' type operations. The
guy just said he was with 'american income' and to look for "AIS"
stickers on the window of their office. There is a company
called "American Income Life" that is legit, but he definitely said
are "AIS" not "AIL". So, if they are a scam (which I really do think
they are), they're using a business name which can be easily confused
    with a legitimate company. Sneaky!
Had some wierdness yesterday: I went off to skate night, and very
shortly thereafter, Sineater came to our house and asked Tom if he could
use the phone. Apparently Skye_ds decided not to spend $ on a 'make ready'
cleaning service to clean their old trailer & get it ready to rent
out, so E's over there slaving away in a shithole with no phone or
utilities. ANYHOO, apparently he called home & it was busy, so E
figured she was online & asked to use a computer to message her. Tom
let him use the one in the guest room. I'm trying not to be paranoid,
but I'm wondering if A put E up to something, like told him to
put a virus on my computer or download my XL or Word files or
something. But, if so, he was thwarted by having to use the
guest 'puter which is basically a terminal, no hard drive or
anything. I hate being that paranoid, but when dealing with nutcases
I guess you kinda have to be.
    =====================
    Jen:
    Exactly what I was thinking.
This AIS people are definitely sleazebags. Probably some kinda
    pyramid scheme, Amway-esqe thing.
That deal with E is really, really weird. Figures that A
would "assign" the donkey-work of cleaning the old trailer to E,
rather than hire someone, or pitch in herself.
    Whatta bitch.
Even if she wanted him to fuck up your computers, I don't think he
    would do it.
    ========
    me:

I went ahead and called the guy back to ask what the position was,
exactly. He squirmed around and tried to keep telling me it was
management, but then the dirty truth came out: it's sales. "but you
can be promoted to management within a couple of months". feh. I told
him I wasn't comfortable with selling anything & cancelled the
interview. I guess I could have gone anyway, but I'd rather get OT
here at work. I'm going to have to revise my resumes at monster &
flipdog or else just delete them until the market gets better. Lately
my 'job search results' emails are nothing but "your dream job!!!"
and "work from home, make big $$$" garbage.

I would like to think that E wouldn't do anything harmful to me or
our computers, but there's no telling what kind of punishment he'll
get from A if he doesn't. I would have also liked to think of him as
being incapable of hitting a woman, but I saw her busted lip the day
he smacked her, so ... it may go against his nature, but he may feel
he has no other choice and/or be so far gone from years of abuse that
    he doesn't really have a conscience anymore.*sigh* I can't think
about that anymore. It just makes me too angry and sad.

So...how 'bout them Bears? btw, I emailed Dad about PD&T's last show
this Saturday. Maybe he &/or Holly will go. Alex & I had gone in
together on a robot R2D2 for Xmas. Alex finally mailed it, I guess,
because Dad said he was enjoying playing with it :)

I also wrote to Mom about your house buying adventures. Turns out I
got a super cheap deal to fly to Albuquerque on her birthday weekend,
which is also your closing weekend. :) That'll be fun. I'm taking the
14th off and the 17th is a state holiday, so it'll be a nice long
visit :) I'm just a little globetrotter this year--Vegas this
    weekend, Albuquerque next month.

I'm trying to be cheerful about taking Jess to Vegas. We can see the
shark aquarium at Mandalay Bay and do the "Secret garden of Siegfried
& Roy" at Mirage and maybe the IMAX stuff at Luxor, and of course
we're seeing Mystere, and doing the Vegas buffets (I wanna go to
Paris' buffet this time out), so those are all things we can both
enjoy. It's just gonna be wierd not to gamble at all. And I have no
idea how spoiled & selfish Jessica will act away from her family--
she's usually better with just me. But she does also test & see how
much $$ I will spend on her, which is a despicable female trick I
hate. At least if we stay away from shopping, there won't be much
impulse buying to do. My fave trick of hers is when she maxes me out
on gifts for her and then guilts me into buying more stuff for her
brothers & parents (all cheaper than whatever she got me to buy for
her). Maybe I'll just give her some $ and say "Here's your spending
money for the weekend, once it's gone, it's gone" --that usually
    works for faire.

Anyhoo...I need to get back to work. Sorry this was so long. XOXOX!
