Trump voters would like to think they are half the country (by weight and volume, maybe!). The reality is that they are a small and shrinking minority in this country, no more than 1/3 of the nation (still too many, but what are ya gonna do?). They are a loud, obnoxious and politically active minority, which is what gives them the illusion of power and control.
However, if the sane and decent people in this country were to actually get off their butts and vote each and every election, the MAGA bunch would quickly lose even more power even more quickly. They are dying out. We are witnessing the demise of the old white, mostly male, majority and as with any dying beast, they are frightened and lashing out in every direction.
Given their treatment of others when they were the majority, they feel that others will treat them as badly as they treated minorities once they are finally firmly in the minority. And, sadly, no matter how much education and critical thinking skills are available for all, it seems there will always be about a third of any group who chooses to remain willfully ignorant, obstinate, backwards, and ridiculous.
Being loud and ignorant (and proud of your ignorance) does, unfortunately, lead to people thinking that you are a backwards idiot. Far better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than open your mouth and prove the point. On the other hand, I’m glad that these crazed racist bigoted poopnoggins have made themselves so easy to spot, so they can be avoided by sane decent citizens.
