Why would an NPD/ASPD feel abandoned or rejected, when anyone of their harem totally gives them the silent treatment when they have several others in their harems to take care of them?
Because the target choosing to disregard them is seen as disrespect, disloyalty, and abandonment.
To the mind of a narcissist, the rule is: they get to reject others, others are not allowed to reject the narcissist.
Picking up and putting down their different toys is part of the fun. It makes them feel strong, powerful, desirable, and in control. One of the toys choosing to ignore them or walk away threatens this sense of omnipotence.
It’s not a matter of “I had 7 dolls, and I lost one” it’s a matter of “I am the only one who can play with my dolls” and of course, everyone knows that toys don't walk off on their own.
