Quora: Is it bad that I gave a narcissist the attention they wanted?

 Is it bad that I saw a mosquito on me sucking my blood and didn’t swat it? Well…it could be, if it has west nile or zika…and if not, you get a little bump, the mosquito gets a full tummy, and everything will be OK.

That is what your question reminds me of. If you are an adult you can certainly consent to being in a relationship with a person who uses you and disrespects you. Just beware of the diseases they may leave behind when they finally go….

Narcissists can be very compelling in the early days of a relationship, they will tell you lots of very nice things about yourself and put you up on a pedestal and tell you they’ve never met anyone as wonderful as you are. And you can certainly mirror all that back to them. It won’t last and eventually you will be the bad one that can do nothing right. It is exhausting and miserable. But it’s also your life and your choice as to what kind of people you want in your life. Good luck!
