evile: How are you feeling today? I saw y'all in one of the parade
pics on the yahoo group :)
SkyeDS: better than yesterday, although I'd still rather be
snoozing/reading right now. how's u?
evile: tired, but in a good mood. Enjoyed yesterday
afternoon/evening a lot, got in a good long walk, but stayed up too
late doing laundry.
evile: Mom's back in Austin; she wants to go skating tonight :)
SkyeDS: cool! :)
evile: that ought to be fun.
SkyeDS: I have to admit that I have morbid curiosity as to what
transpired betwixt her and the CPS caseworker.
evile: *shrug* I hope it didn't make her too angry or bitter. I could
give a shit about the pig or the baby, but I don't like seeing my
family hurt.
evile: (on some level, I realize the baby is my family, too...but if
I never look at it or meet it I can pretend it doesn't exist...)
SkyeDS: "excuse me while I go beat my head on a wall...ok, I feel
better now..."
evile: heh.
SkyeDS: they gave the Hawkwood Militia yellow towels to hang from the
belt to identify themselves
SkyeDS: Outlaw and his lady weren't wearing them
evile: hm.
SkyeDS: so as far as I'm concerned, if you aren't wearing something
to signify that you have authority, I don't have to believe you and
I"m not going to
evile: OK.
SkyeDS: that's one of the many beefs most of the vendors have
SkyeDS: they can't ever find anyone in authority. they're either not
around, nobody knows who they are, and nobody's wearing identification
evile: that's not good.
SkyeDS: a short conversation with Buddha about his friend Outlaw is
not enough to establish Outlaw as authority in my book
evile: yup
SkyeDS: and how am I supposed to know who is HM and who isn't.
That's what the purpose of the yellow towels are no?
evile: yup
SkyeDS: and then they called Jesse an Arab.
SkyeDS: after a lengthy conversation about Mirage and Arabians, and
Jezebel and Morgans.
SkyeDS: sigh.
evile: they were saying nice things. could you overlook the mistake
and take the compliment, maybe?
SkyeDS: yes.
SkyeDS: but it does lend illustration to a bigger problem, which is
that management isn't listening.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I've already figured out that if we are going to be effective
to maximum efficiency we're going to have to do everything ourselves
SkyeDS: so that we make the best of our place in a bad situation for
everybody
SkyeDS: Cross Eyed Pony = my new friends Dee and her husband and kids
evile: cool.
SkyeDS: Outlaw jumped on my case when I suggested that there may be a
good reason that faires aren't held in August
SkyeDS: "Hawkwood, the greatest faire to ever exist, was held in
August"
SkyeDS: oh yeah? well, it isn't in existance anymore, is it. So that
would be past tense.
evile: and it lasted...what? 4 years?
SkyeDS: AND the site was completely wooded
evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: so it's apples and oranges, lovey, apples and oranges
evile: would probably not go to Hawkwood as religiously now as I did
however many years ago. I"m older and more attached to my perosnal
comfort than I used to be
SkyeDS: Dustin/Four Winds learned from 4th of July. Next year the
joust won't start till 7.
evile: it didn't look like there was any shade at all at the faire,
from the pictures. I wonder where that one forest-looking photo was
taken.
SkyeDS: Jerry's place.
SkyeDS: which Buddha says isn't really Jerry's place, whatever that's
supposed to mean.
evile: oh.
SkyeDS: and Jerry's place is going to have to have a fuckload of
money put into it before you could have a faire there.
SkyeDS: you could have a faire on my place before his.
SkyeDS: his place has a mobile home graveyard on it, an automobile
graveyard, and voluminous amounts of trash.
SkyeDS: And all of the driveways in and out would have to be
completely redone
evile: that's too bad.
SkyeDS: the faire was at rains county fairground. there was one
airconditioned building, the stables were covered and had fans, the
arena was covered and had fans
SkyeDS: there were no trees to speak of.
evile: wow. that's rough.
evile: I was checking my calendar, and it's alarming how many faires
coincide with GWNN stuff. I hate having to make decisions.
SkyeDS: I've always thought you needed a social secretary.
evile: Tablerock is the same weekend as teh GWNN bash, Ingleside is
the same weekend as the first GWNN munch & afterparty that Ben would
be legal to attend.
SkyeDS: and I might get to the point sooner or later where I need one
myself (skeery ain't it)
evile: I just hate feeling like I have to choose between 2 things I
really wanna do.
SkyeDS: timeturners ;)
evile: Tablerock, I could probably do it during the day and get back
in time for the evening's party, but Ingleside, no way. I will have
to actually choose one and ditch the other. :(
SkyeDS: you wouldn't be missing much to ditch ingleside
evile: yeah, but I liked going to the beach and walking miles with
nobody but my shadow in sight & going to the aquarium and having it
mostly to myself.
SkyeDS: that would have been nice
SkyeDS: I wanted to ride on the beach
evile: which, I guess I could do some other weekend, but I liked the
faire, too. Even though it was small. And I liked seeing y'all.
SkyeDS: I told K if she wants us to bring our equipment she'll have
to put us all up
evile: K would be?
SkyeDS: we can't cart a course and our camping gear both
SkyeDS: Kelly Webb, who runs Seawinds /Ingleside
SkyeDS: she wants us to bring our game course and do a ballet
evile: aha. the place we stayed last time is not an option, I guess?
SkyeDS: don't see why it wouldn't be.
SkyeDS: but my guess is K can find somewhere for us to stay where the
horses aren't in a trailer all night
SkyeDS: like where her horses are
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: she wants us to help her make this as big a production as
possible
evile: I heard that Bakery Cafe has a new owner, who's run off a lot
of the waiteresses and the cook who was there for 7 years. :(
SkyeDS: so that they don't do what they're threatening to do and hire
a professional joust companyu
SkyeDS: well, that means she's going to have to put us up and feed us
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: West Lynn Cafe just got bought out by Cosmic Cafe from Dallas.
SkyeDS: Bahama Breeze closed down, the place with that prunefaced
goat of a GM
evile: it's reopened as something else, I thought. baby a's or
something?
SkyeDS: probably
SkyeDS: I like Baby A's.
SkyeDS: Bahama Breeze had great food and great ambience. Only thing
ruined it for us was the prunefaced goat.
SkyeDS: Bakery Cafe's new owner = not smart.
evile: hopefully they kept the biscuit recipe :P
evile: summer's almost gone and I haven't been to Shlitterbahn or 6
flags yet this year. or the beach. But, honestly, I liked it better
in December :)
SkyeDS: I wanted to go tubing, oh well :-/
evile: the lion's club is open 2 more weekends, I think.
SkyeDS: are they online?
evile: not really.
there's this
http://www.sanmarcostexas.com/d/2251437_13751.htm
and then the 2004 schedule:
http://www.centuryinter.net/smlc/tuberental.html
evile: I imagine Labor Day is a pretty traditional cutoff date.
SkyeDS: thankee
evile: the guys seemed to think it was no more tube rentals after LD<
but last years page says it goes to weekends-only after that, which
would still work fine for Sunday Church of the Toob.
SkyeDS: nodnod
evile: this weekend is the hot sauce festival. plus CRW, plus
ravensloft, plus SAADE party, plus fire & dancing at NM...ack. And of
course I odnt know how long Mom will be here, so spending time with
her will be hte priority
SkyeDS: Rita/Eloisa is trying to rescue CRW for Ronnie. I hope she's
successful.
evile: that would be good :)
SkyeDS: I noticed she's gotten attendence up over 100 already
evile: hopefully it'll be OK.
SkyeDS: lesson number 1. Reserve campground more than 6 months in
advance.
evile: yup
evile: OMG. unbelievably tacky, but sort of funny. not $80 worth of
humor...
http://www.bruteforceleather.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=92
SkyeDS: they've revamped their website considerably since the last
time I was there
evile: *nod*
evile: At the last voyagers party, Ms. Elorin had a corset with these
cool attached rennie-looking sleeves. She got it from alter-ego-
erotics on ebay.
evile: found one like hers, finally:
http://cgi.ebay.com/LEATHER-CORSET-Pirate-Renn-SCA-Goth-Vampire-LARP-
Wench_W0QQitemZ5419108919QQcategoryZ11522QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
SkyeDS: I want the chemise that's under it and they never say where
to get it
evile: it's just sleeves.
SkyeDS: the chemise under the treasure chest corset
SkyeDS: on the bad pirates page
evile: oh. ok
SkyeDS: but the one on ebay is very yum
evile: pretty decent pricing.
evile: the sleeve on the pirate wench chemise is, I think what htey
call "irish"
evile: http://www.fashionsintime.com/html/chemises.html
SkyeDS: Thax says he can make anything he sees a picture of, so
there's always that route
evile: http://www.timepiecesandcrossroads.com/chemises.htm
evile: Yeah, it would be good to put Thax to work.
SkyeDS: Irish = a lein, has the sleeves gathered.
SkyeDS: the one I was looking at has them split where there would be
an outside seem
SkyeDS: like I need another chemise, I know
SkyeDS: but it looks comfortable for summer months
evile: http://austinleatherworks.com/catalog/Split%20Sleeve%20Chemise%
20Photos.htm
SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: also appears to be made of a light gauzy material
SkyeDS: I bought two new chemises made of a nice light gauze and one
promptly split the seams after like the third wearing, under the arms
and down one side
evile: yup. fabric is very key. I have polyester gauze stuff that is
hot as hell and heavy cotton & silks that are comfy and cool
evile: so here's a legal-ish question for you: suppose you threw a
party and one of the guests smacked another guest, and the guest who
was hit decided after the fact to file assault charges. Does hte
party host become liable, or is it only the person who hit the guest?
SkyeDS: I'd have to look it up
SkyeDS: my first instinct is to say the host is not liable
evile: I would think that too...but then you get situations where
people get nailed for DWI and the person who gave them the booze gets
fucked, too.
evile: something happened at the party this weekend, and I just don't
want it biting Dave or Lyn in the ass.
SkyeDS: § 22.01. ASSAULT. (a) A person commits an offense if
the person:
(1) intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causes
bodily 	injury to another, including the person's spouse;
(2) intentionally or knowingly threatens another with
imminent bodily injury, including the person's spouse; or
(3) intentionally or knowingly causes physical
contact with another when the person knows or should reasonably
believe that the other will regard the contact as offensive or
provocative.
SkyeDS: next thing I'd need to look up is what constitutes "aiding
and abetting"
SkyeDS:
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/business/lipman/2611210
evile: cool. Hopefully Dave & Lyn won't get caught in the middle of
anything. I'd hate for them to stop inviting people to thier house
because of drama and bullshit.
SkyeDS: the Texas Dram Law holds bars responsible because even though
like social hosts they don't know how much you've had to drink before
you get there
evile: OK
SkyeDS: they are supposed to keep track of how many drinks you've had
and exactly how much alcohol was in them and what strength
SkyeDS: whereas a social host is not
evile: makes sense :)
SkyeDS: you want more screwed up law?
SkyeDS: if you have an "attractive nuisance" on your property
SkyeDS: and despite having posted NO TRESPASSING signs all over your
property
SkyeDS: somebody, especially kids, come onto your place because of
the attractive nuisance and get hurt
SkyeDS: you're responsible
evile: it's still your fault if someone's fuckfruit drowns in your
pool or gets bitten by your dog or whatever.
evile: yeah, I knew that one.
SkyeDS: http://tarlton.law.utexas.edu/dawson/cases/land/zukatis.htm
SkyeDS: although that isn't Texas stare decisis (case law)
evile: seems to be a no brainer, but then again...so many breeders
have no brains.
evile: "I have no common sense and no business bringing offspring
into this world--who can I sue??"
SkyeDS: yep
evile: *ducks*
evile: I just posted to the austin poly lj and yahoo groups re:
unwanted touch. It's happened to me, onyxlynxx, kat, and terriblelynne that I
know of for sure. I think it needs to be discussed.
SkyeDS: completely agreed
evile: I am probably one of the offendors, too, truth be told. I am
often pretty huggy at polydinners.
SkyeDS: it helps for nonhuggy people to say, I'm not comfortable
with that, sorry
SkyeDS: unlike Sharjinka, who submits to it and then bitches about it
later
evile: yeah, but a lot of the not huggy people are also introverts
and shy and have trouble talkign to people, in general...so it's
tough for them.
SkyeDS: huggers should ask permission to hug new people I would think
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: is what I do when I meet new friends anyway
SkyeDS: rennies tend to be huggy mostly
evile: and new people should ask before they hug.
evile: Most people i hang with are physically affectionate, but not
all.
evile: and a lot of new folks see people who know each other well,
hugging and kissing at polydinner and assume that's just the way we
are all the time with everyone.
evile: well, it's 4. I guess I won't get to see fallout from my posts
until later. :)
evile: *hugs* Have a good evening :)
