evile: tgif!!
SkyeDS: I'll drink to that (since I still have an unopened bottle of
wine at my feet hehe)
evile: which one did you finally pick?
SkyeDS: beaujolais
evile: *nod* cool.
SkyeDS: which I hope I can cook with if I don't want to drink
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: so, you're going to throw a bigass party, and you ask
everyone you want to invite to give you good dates. And rather than
give you good dates, they give you one BAD date, which is July 4.
SkyeDS: So, you plan to have your party when? July 4.
evile: Is this a CRW thing? I heard July 4 was the date.
SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: something tells me this isn't going to be one of the better
CRWS.
evile: It's a good date for a lot of people, too, I'm sure, because
of holidays from work and such.
SkyeDS: may be, but if so, none of them have vocalized that.
SkyeDS: anyway, I was going to try and make a day trip out there, but
not on July 4. I have commitments to two parades already.
evile: no telling what's passed in private email between organizers
and attendees. The outspoken ones are the ones who disagree and
complain, while the majority is OK and non vocal?
SkyeDS: could be
SkyeDS: don't know with these people
evile: sucks that you, personally, can't go, but perhaps there is a
silent majority who will be able to.
SkyeDS: I don't care either way, it was going to be an effort to even
day trip it being where it was
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I just found it curious that people said just not the 4th,
and there it is, on the 4th
evile: wow....
SkyeDS: and July always seems to be crowded, takes effort to fit more
things in
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: when the little group I shelter under my wings is able to do
what they want to do, I will encourage them to throw events of their
own.
SkyeDS: *then* I will be personally invested and actually give a damn
evile: there ya go. I think that's the right approach to take.
SkyeDS: from the perspective of not giving a damn past pure academic
hypothetical solutions (I do love a good puzzle)
SkyeDS: there have been successful CRWS
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: so i don't understand why not just use the models that were
successful before.
SkyeDS: I have never had a hand in event planning of any scale at
all, other than corporate board meetings.
evile: *nod* not quite the same scale....
SkyeDS: attending regular old SCA gatherings has already given me new
perspective on the gathering thing
evile: I bet!
SkyeDS: and I suspect that GW will alter that perspective even fruther
SkyeDS: further
evile: yeah...the SCA seems very efficient.
SkyeDS: as if I ever made Pennsic, would even moreso
SkyeDS: well, Rome was more efficient than individual independent
Celtic tribes
SkyeDS: pros and cons to both models
evile: yeah..
SkyeDS: having been eclectic at just about everything I've ever done
my whole life long, I am very fond of, hey, that seems to work, if it
doesn't run fast enough I'm going to borrow (steal) it.
evile: exactly :)
SkyeDS: told the kids, someday we'll try having a mini event at the
ranch, and if that works, we can try doing a bigger event at an SP or
a fairground
evile: that would be cool.
SkyeDS: I'd prefer to call it a renfaire but we won't get any
stickjocks without calling it war
evile: this is true.
SkyeDS: and th en we'll have to distinguish it from CRW or everyone
will have a cow
evile: Model it on an IKP, maybe?
SkyeDS: I don't understand why not call it that
SkyeDS: but Silver Spire keeps trying to throw those and they keep
not happening
SkyeDS: all this fuss over labels
evile: could just be the location.
SkyeDS: IK = InterKingdom, CR = Combined Realms, big fucking
difference
evile: yup.
evile: one definitely implies smaller event than the other.
SkyeDS: Laura's daughter Michelle got awesome kuchis at GW last year.
evile: cool. There do seem to be some cool vendors at SCA. My
favorite scent lady was a regular vendor at Pennsic.
SkyeDS: they say there are 1200 people melees at GW...and 12,000
people melees at Pennsic.
evile: eeps.
evile: that sounds too big, to me. But I guess it's fun if you're up
for that kind of crowd.
SkyeDS: if GW turns out to be overwhelming I'll go back to the barn
evile: *nod*
evile: Did you see my new Icon? *happy dance* roninjedi done good.
SkyeDS: nodnodnods :)
evile: I don't think she really looks like me, but she's cute, so
I'll keep 'er.
evile: kulilinei, mother of 9 month old Kai, told me it's very very
unlikely that a Dr. would start to induce labor in the evening.
Especially on a Friday! So we call bullshit on Rubber_Pig telling everyone
that.
SkyeDS: ROFL
SkyeDS: http://www.tirrigh.org/danescombe/info/scatanic.html
evile: very clever :)
SkyeDS: Italy did not exist until the Renaissance. Italians loved to
dance and hated to fight. They often wore short tunics. The
Renaissance was invented in Italy. It began when Petrarch wrote in
his diary, "Everyone in Florence has begun wearing short tunics and
tights. It must be the Renaissance."
SkyeDS: ROFL
evile: heh.
evile: I really hate my job some days. I've just been informed that
I've been locking hearings to a hearing officer who no longer works
here. He was one of 6 who hold federal extended benefit hearings, and
I am one of 2 people who set those cases up...you'd think someone
would have thought fit to mention it to us...
evile: and here is the scheduler treating me like I'm the fucking
idiot.
SkyeDS: ya think? dayum.
evile: *growl*
evile: well, there went the last of my work ethic ...for today at
least.
SkyeDS: "Oh really? WOW. I didn't know that. That's a useful piece
of information to have. Thank you so much for telling me!"
evile: heh. yup.
evile: definitely should have handled it with wide eyed idiocy rather
than sarcasm.
evile: I didn't get enough sleep, I'm very grumpy today. Totally
worth it, but Ii'm very grumpy.
evile: wow. Max closed on his place yesterday, kulilinei and knighthorse may
have a place soon. Lots of housewarming parties in my future :)
SkyeDS: place kulilinei found sounds really special
evile: the only possible nit I'd pick is it's wooded and doesn't look
like it has a lot of good topsoil. If she wants a garden, she is
going to have to really work for it.
SkyeDS: she seems like she could pull that off, if it could be done
at all
evile: *nod* as long as you can find a patch of sunlight, everything
else can be improvised :)
evile: I love J-Law. she's got such a way with words. She just sent me
this: "Some of the shine got rubbed off my Friday, too. I went to
Safeway to pick up some groceries, and, as I was crossing some little
street, this dildo in a colossal SUV swung a major left turn (out of
nowhere, and I had the walky guy signal) and nearly hit me. He
missed me by a fucking hair. I screamed blue murder and flipped him
off but, unfortunately, he didn't have the balls to stop his behemoth
and get out. If he had, I would have kicked his sorry fucking ass
into next week."
SkyeDS: :|
evile: She has so much spunk. I'm so glad she wasn't hurt. I can just
totally picture the scene, from her words.
SkyeDS: saw a quote to the tune of, nothing makes the company of men
more polite for women than a woman with a gun
evile: heh.
evile: Looks like Cavalia has been held over in AZ--they now have
show dates through 3/13
SkyeDS: I wonder if maybe they haven't been to Dallas yet
SkyeDS: maybe it was Cheval that came to Dallas before (a while back)
evile: I got the impression that Cheval was a Vegas thing, but
*shrug* I'll keep watching the website & checking fares :P
evile: Time for me to start my weekend. I hope you have a good one.
Sunday's forecast is perking up nicely :)
