I am in a foul mood today. Yesterday's day off was pleasant, and I
got a bit done at home, but then it was ruined by the jerks at
Polydinner.
I am wondering if there has been an attitude shift because I now show
up with thewordnerd (the blind guy) and as part of a 'couple', I am not
as 'accessible' ? I dunno, that may be pure paranoia on my part.
We got there and there were 5 people already seated in a strange
booth that wrapped around a corner, so that the table had half its
seats as booth and half as chairs. it appeared that 2 booth seats
were available, and 2 chair seats were available. I asked Nolan which
he preferred, and he said 'booth'. so I walked him around to the
booth & saw that there were flowers sitting in the booth. I asked
Jonathan to move them, and he told me that the booth seats were being
saved. So I said 'oh well,' and sat Nolan in the first chair next to
the booth seats. I started to sit in the chair at the end of the
table, and then Chancie (large bosomed loudmouth gal who does not
wear enough foundation garments) said "Oh, you might not want to sit
there, we will probably add a table to that end"...
So I grabbed a table and pushed it on to the end of the table, and
sat down next to nolan at the new table I'd pulled over. (meantime
there are still 4 VACANT Seats at the original table, all between me
& Nolan and the rest of the people--so very conducive to sitting &
visiting)... I may just be overly sensitive and pissy, but I felt
very disrespected and very excluded by this 'place saving' stuff.
THEN someone showed up with a child, which she seated across from me
and the proceeded to ignore while she visited with teh adults.
Meanwhile the child is trying very hard to behave and get along,
regaling the adults (ME) with "see my necklace, it's a dragon. I have
10 other necklaces. My auntie gave it to me" bla bla. I mean, there
was NOTHING wrong with the kid's attempt at conversation or her table
manners, but I was annoyed that she was basically dumped on me to
entertain. fuck. In the meantime, her mother and Chancie are
conversing at 'outdoor voice' levels about a bdsm conference they're
going to, and dildos, and other unsavory inappropriate dinner
conversation, not to mention things that really don't need to be
mentioned in front of a kid. It was awful. I was very very annoyed.
Anyhoo...here I am at work. As soon as I got here there was a pissy
message from my boss about working TUC's. It's always one of 2 things
with her: "more numbers" or "work TUC"....god damn it, I can NOT do
TUC and get big numbers, and since we've been doing the TUC shit for
so long, you'd think she'd know that by now. argh.
