    evile: happy hump day!
SkyeDS: got here at 11:30, have a two person ride scheduled for 6:00,
and my parents may or may not still be at my home around then, lol.
They're stopping by on way to Corpus, and staying the weekend on way
    home.
    evile: OMG..sounds hectic!
SkyeDS: I told them, $60 per hour, and you have to have ground crew
of one person with you, although I will make myself scarce, if you
want to propose or the like.
SkyeDS: tried to get them to do it this morning, and they wouldn't,
and told them, I'm not taking my horses out at 1 pm in the afternoon
in August, even if it is mild for August.
SkyeDS: so 6 pm it was.
    evile: *nod*
evile: shorter day at the office, at least.
    SkyeDS: yawns
    evile: me too.
evile: So I guess your weekend plans are still kind of up in the air,
    due to parentals & whatnot.
    SkyeDS: aye.
SkyeDS: and I think I'ms upposed to teach a lesson Saturday
evile: We're seeing the Asylum St. Spankers Saturday night, that's
the total plan for my weekend.
SkyeDS: most cool. love that CD you gave me.
evile: They are fun. And from what I can tell, this is going to be
*all* of them, not just 5 or 6
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: Christina & Guy have such great chemistry. Wammo can sing just
fine, but I don't buy him as her 'romantic' counterpart when they
    sing together.
    SkyeDS: I miss music making.
    evile: *nods* I bet.
    SkyeDS: looks like storm brewin
SkyeDS: sineater says parents just arrived
    evile: *nod*
evile: with Hurricane Bonnie out there, I'm not sure I'd try the
    coast this weekend.
evile: I do want to get to the ocean again sometime. Maybe the last
    weekend of August...
SkyeDS: they're on their way to Corpus <sigh>
evile: good luck to 'em. Nasty weather out in the Gulf.
SkyeDS: going to see friend in hospital, don't think they're going to
    beach, but still nervousmaking
    evile: *nods*
evile: lots of rain & wind, bad roads. People forget how to drive in
    weather.
SkyeDS: some of them never seemed to know in first place
evile: Probably not as many rain-idiots behind the wheel in CC as
    here in Austin.
SkyeDS: hate Austin when it rains
    evile: Boy, today is suckin'
    SkyeDS: ?
evile: a friend's sister broke her back, a friend's mom was hit by a
drunk driver, same friend is going to get the big ovarectomy like I
got when I was 22, SAME friend is losing her job. ...alright, enough
    already.
SkyeDS: time to go home and hide under the bed :(
evile: no shit. I'm not reading livejournal or diaryland any more
today. People can have their horrible crises without me
evile: I have my St. Jude candle for [brother A] going.
SkyeDS: so the only people he's speaking to right now are [uncle B] and
    [k/mom], right?
    evile: *nod*
    evile: ooh, an arab paint!!
    http://www.turningpointarabians.com/savannah.html
    SkyeDS: yep
    SkyeDS: pintabians are popular
SkyeDS: can be triple registered some of them
    evile: pretty.
SkyeDS: paint registry, half arab registry, pintabian registry
    SkyeDS: like morabs
SkyeDS: half morgan reg, half arab reg, morab reg.
evile: *nod* Whenever I stress, I go 'window shopping'..shoes,
    castles, horses, etc. :P
    SkyeDS: :D
evile: helps me feel better, even when I know I'm just daydreaming.
    SkyeDS: I like shopping therapy
evile: Looking at pretty stuff is always a fine thing.
evile: The world can't be 100% rotten & evil with such pretty horses
    in it, ya know?
SkyeDS: pretty horses, pretty birds, good music, good food, good books
SkyeDS: and good lookin men in movies with those t hings
    evile: heh.
evile: Next time I go out to L&B's land, I'm going to track down the
Magnolia horse ranch. They have vanners.
    SkyeDS: I wanna go
evile: I wonder if L& B will. They're wierd about animals the way Mom
    is wierd about violence.
SkyeDS: they don't think you should have companion animals?
evile: No, but they don't go to zoos, etc.
evile: and [aunt L] is very anti-horse racing due to cruel practices in
    that milieu.
SkyeDS: I hate horse racing with a passion
evile: I don't know how far her distaste spreads, re: livestock,
    captivity, etc.
SkyeDS: she'd hate what they do to Tennessee Walkers and other gaited
horses in those breed specific shoes
    SkyeDS: is worse than racing
evile: A lot of it would depend on the conditions the animals were in
when she saw them. The pictures of Magnolia Ranch make it look very
    clean & spacious.
SkyeDS: I don't know why anyone would do abusive stuff
SkyeDS: but I can't see people abusing high dollar horses like Vanners
SkyeDS: but I don't understand abuse
evile: Most of that kind of stuff is something you'd start to say and
[aunt L] would interrupt and say "I don't want to hear about it"...
evile: it just upsets her too much.
evile: A lot of horse training can be viewed by someone who doesn't
    know as abuse.
    SkyeDS: particularly sacking out
SkyeDS: although there are many ways of desensitizing an animal that
    ARE abusive
evile: *shrug* I don't know enough about to feel like I have a right
to say anything. As with kids: "Don't tell me how to raise my ____"
SkyeDS: the next time I see Ashia beating her horse with a sword, I
damn well am going to stop her though.
evile: If I saw wounds, or they were too thin, or limping..I'd call
re: abuse....but as far as training methods. a lot of them look cruel
    and some may be...but...?
SkyeDS: I know enough about the bidness to know you don't have any
reason to beat any horse with a sword.
SkyeDS: although unless a horse is dying there isn't any point in
    calling the SPCA
evile: sad but probably very true.
SkyeDS: what they've told friends of mine about rescuing dogs
    evile: sad.
SkyeDS: I have no intention of getting anyone in trouble with the
    SPCA anyway
SkyeDS: but I'm not going to physically let her beat on a horse in my
    presence with a sword
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: Lorraine might not feel impelled to stop her, but her
daughter and I feel the same way about it.
SkyeDS: Her daughter is an animal control officer in Houston
    evile: wow.
evile: It really is too bad that the SCA equestrian bunch has icky
people in it. On one hand, any equestrian (SCA) better than none
(HFS)....but frurstrating for y'all to deal with.
SkyeDS: Bridget is slated to be next KEO
SkyeDS: but I have a contingency plan
SkyeDS: both short and long term plans so it's ok
    evile: *nods*
evile: makes me glad that all of my hobbies & most of my interests
    can be accomplished solo.
SkyeDS: I could ride solo, but sineater gets upset because of the safety
    factor
SkyeDS: used to ride solo all the time
    evile: *nod*
evile: I know Jessie, sineater, and sonar0m all like the thrill of
competition, and that you'll put up with a lot of shit for their
sake. But...no good reason to put up with abusive jerks.
SkyeDS: I can ignore B for the time being so I will
evile: esp. when those kinds of attitudes may end up hurting your
    family. (4 legs & 2)
SkyeDS: anyone does something hurtful, they die.
    evile: *nod*
evile: oof. Moon in Leo all weekend. Definitely hiding under the bed.
SkyeDS: no wo nder they chose this weekend to descend on us :)
    evile: heh.
    evile: interesting
    http://www.astrowisdom.com/thisnewmoon.htm
SkyeDS: tis time for you to scoot :) I get to scoot at 4:30 :)
evile: drive safe & have fun this evening :)
    SkyeDS: HGUS
    SkyeDS: err HUGS
    evile: hehe. :)
    those too.

    New Moon in Leo
    Sunday, Aug 15, 2004
    6:24pm PDT
    23º 31'

More than any other sign, Leo rules a strong relationship with Ego.
In most spiritual circles there is a sense of suspicion and
negativity around the concept of Ego. But Ego is a whole lot more
than selfishness, narcissism and self-aggrandizement. It is the self,
knowing and creatively actualizing itself, in all its complexity and
beauty. The more we know about who we are, the more our actions
become infused with an awareness of their effect. So basically this
is the New Moon to put some energy behind the idea of knowing
yourself better, and becoming responsible for the energy (negative
    and positive) you output everyday.

Leo's most evolved form is a very adult expression of ego development
that disavows self-aggrandizement and acts from a deeply
compassionate heart. The Dalai Lama comes to mind. It seems we rarely
witness this kind of selflessness in our leaders. Most of what we see
is Leo's immature, narcissistic side, which constantly demands
attention and affirmation from outside itself. With Venus (relational
skills) and Saturn (responsibility) in Cancer (love, caring and
compassion,) and Mercury (communication skills)/Mars (action)/Jupiter
(hope and expansion) in Virgo (discrimination and service to others),
this is the perfect New Moon to look deeply at how much of what you
say and do, is done to appease an inner need for attention and
recognition of specialness, or to offer a selfless, heartfelt,
compassionate, desire to heal. True self-esteem is built by
developing a calm center from which all decisions are made and all
    actions are undertaken.

Our culture suffers from an intense attachment to the cult of
personality and an inability to embrace values of humility and
modesty. We also have a very unhealthy relationship with the process
of aging. There is little acceptance of the beauty and wisdom
inherent in growing older. This is an especially hard issue to tackle
on a Leo New Moon. It calls up all kinds of fear around becoming old,
ugly, frail and useless. Try reading stories about older, wiser women
and men and then imagine yourself at 70, 80 or 90. What will you look
like, what will you wear, how will you be spending your time, what
will our world look like and how will it receive or reject you?
Hopefully this exercise may inspire you to commit some of your time
and talent to the elders in your family or community.

Our world also suffers from Leo's other terrible trait-a very warped
relationship to power. Leo is the sign of personal power, another
bugaboo word! What exactly does that mean? In our world it usually
means power-over, which expresses itself in everything from caring
only about personal gain, having excessive influence over others and
exerting one's own desires upon others, to war mongering,
exploitation and land grabbing. Sound familiar? America has its natal
North Node (where the nation is evolving) in Leo in the 8th house
(issues of world power and control.) Certainly our nation's behavior
over the last three years has shown a very warped relationship to
power. This is the New Moon to redefine personal power as a means to
engender communal empowerment, coexistence and upliftment. Starhawk
refers to this kind of power as power-with. I define this very
evolved expression of Leo as true leadership. When we know ourselves,
we know our gifts, and this makes us feel a tremendous responsibility
to share our talents in an effort to make life better for everyone
    around us.

On the other hand, Leo wants us all to understand that our lives are
one big canvas and we get to fill it with whatever we want. So dream
a littleĀ…all right, dream a lot. The way of Leo is big, big, big!
Think, "Big-budget Hollywood". It might be a bit harder this year
with Mercury/Mars/Jupiter all in realistic/no-risk Virgo, but try to
consider what your life would be like if you embraced the risk-taking
romantic that lives inside of you, buried deep beneath the weight of
all your worldly responsibilities. Pick one area of your life and
give it over to this part of you. You'll be amazed at what can
happen! Leo rules creative self-expression and represents the artist
    in each of us.

This is the New Moon for increasing your creativity. The New Moon in
Leo is all about discovering your personal aesthetic and finding the
right modus operandi for expressing it. Those of you who are artists
can use this New Moon to start a new project or initiate a new
direction in your work, build a stronger belief in your own vision,
or bolster your ability to handle the vast amount of rejection most
artists face at one time or another. I know, some of you are sitting
there saying, "Well I'm not an artist, what does this have to do with
me?" Just look at the clothes in your closet and the things you buy
to accessorize your home. We all make aesthetic decisions every day!
Leo increases our sense of what makes us special.

This is also the New Moon for romance. With Venus (love and
relationship) and Saturn (commitment) in Cancer (emotional needs)
complementing the Sun (energy)/Moon (emotional needs) conjunction in
Leo, diving into the arms of your lover might also include a
discussion of the romantic possibilities of long-term commitment.
This is going to be one of the more serious and realistic Leo New
Moons in a long time. So don't waste the chance to dream within
limits that are realistic and long-lasting.

When it comes to love, Leo loves romance; full-blown choreographed
romance. If you are just not getting enough attention from your
partner, or you are lonely and looking for love, this is the New Moon
to create a powerful ritual to invoke and invite romance into your
life. For those of you who have a partner, make the ritual a love-
fest and pull out all the stops: candles, wine, roses, anything to
awaken the senses. For those of you who wish to invite love into your
lives, do the same while envisioning "Mr. or Ms. Right" being right
there with you. You can make love show up in your life with clear
intention and a strong desire to love and be loved.

Those of you who tend toward the Leo drama-queen spectrum of
emotional expression, you could use this Moon to do some powerful
healing work with your inner "enfant terrible". This is a very good
    New Moon cycle to take a hard look at your own emotional patterning;
especially if you suffer with mood swings. It is possible to love
deeply, feel deeply, and create deeply, without wreaking havoc in
your own life and the lives of those around you.

    Leo often gets hooked into the importance of keeping up appearances;
how we look, what we own, what we do, become, for many people, the
definers of self. More than anything Leo wants to be noticed and
appreciated. But the goal here is not to simulate a fashion model or
movie star. The idea is to allow your appearance to reflect the
beauty inside your heart, soul and mind. With all these planets in
Virgo, healthy is the watchword of the day. Healthy lifestyles are
extremely important, and right now obesity is one of the greatest
health problems in America. So if you need some inspiration to get in
shape and feel better, this is the right New Moon start a diet and
exercise program. Some of you may just want to experiment with a new
hairstyle or try a new look. This is good time to indulge a little,
by gifting yourself with healing treatments for your body. Live a
little and treat yourself to something special.

So enjoy this beautiful, fun and creative New Moon cycle!
