    SkyeDS: ciao, bella
evile: hey. Feeling any better today?
    SkyeDS: considerably
evile: *soft hugs* I'm glad. What a godawful thing to go through!
SkyeDS: although no one could specify how long I should forbear, I am
going to forego sex and horseback for two weeks
SkyeDS: but no more bleeding anyway
    evile: that's good.
SkyeDS: went to see Hidalgo at the dollar yesterday
SkyeDS: I'm sure your ablation etc was worse.
evile: At least I was knocked out for my stuff :P Didn't you love
Hidalgo? Don't you want to live in big tents with lotsa pillows &
    rugs now?
SkyeDS: I told the boys that's what we needed for SCA events.
evile: That would be way cool.
SkyeDS: and before I saw it I had been thinking for a long while that
I needed to buy a genuine pattern and make native garb barding
    correctly
SkyeDS: and of course came away from movie with that even more firmly
    in mind
evile: *nods* the horses in that were quite lovely :)
SkyeDS: if you know places where I could get pretty dangly shineys in
metal, leather and or stone, and belts and such would love a guided
    shopping trip
SkyeDS: have not given consideration to what a week out of work is
going to do to my financial situation. Miss Scarlett will think
    about that tomorrow.
evile: Nothing local is coming to mind...I'm sure there are SCA
equestrians who have good resources at hand.
SkyeDS: will meet the head of Austin's Eqs tomorrow
    SkyeDS: with her Lippi mare.
evile: Yeah, I was wondering about the work thing. Not like there's
    any help for it...when you're a contractor & sick...that's just tough
    luck :(
SkyeDS: I've never seen one of the mares before, but chances are they
probably aren't quite as pretty as the stallions.
    SkyeDS: mares usually aren't.
evile: Nice. My mom is after me to buy a colt and raise it from
    scratch. yeah...like I've got that kind of time/resources/etc. She's
    such a nut.
SkyeDS: you have the resources at hand yes
SkyeDS: but the resource of time is in question
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: as to how much time you can put into it versus how much you'd
be willing to hand off to your other resources.
    evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: I need to breed mine shortly
SkyeDS: Mirage has always wanted a baby badly
evile: I am just too selfish to give myself to a baby
    *anything*...too much time, trouble...
SkyeDS: she adopted baby goats for christ sake
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: maybe one day you and Sweetie will compromise-agree on a
housebroken mini in substitution for a puppy :)
    evile: maybe. doubt it.
SkyeDS: I ought to tell sineater I want to housebreak a mini just for the
    reaction.
    evile: heh.
evile: Got any plans for the 19th-20th?
    SkyeDS: of June or July
    evile: June. sorry.
SkyeDS: Saturday the 19th will be in Houston for the day, and have to
be home sometime that Sunday afternoon to teach a lesson.
SkyeDS: were you going to do something Saturday or
    SkyeDS: Sunday
evile: oh, OK then. Was vaguely considering having some kind of
midsummer picnic, but hadn't decided yet on date or place.
SkyeDS: I told sineater I thought we shoudl see his mother while we were
    in Houston for the day
    SkyeDS: she's been begging.
SkyeDS: although I told him, we aren't going to go out of our way to
meet her, she'll have to come out to where we are, because the
primary purpose is jousting practice. She has to learn to compromise.
SkyeDS: he of course would rather not even tell her we're going to be
    in the vicinity
evile: poor thing. I know she would really like to see sineater, but she
doesn't realize how much she stresses him out...it's like if she'd
just chill a bit it would be easier on him and she'd see him more
    often..
SkyeDS: as he deliberately did not tell her when we were at Stargate
    the whole weekend.
    evile: *nods*
    SkyeDS: there is that.
SkyeDS: and if it were made more pleasant when we are there
    evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: last time they just wanted to fight over the horses the way
they used to fight over Arthur.
SkyeDS: the whole reason we're going to Houston now is for equestrian
    practice.
    evile: *nods*
SkyeDS: and yes, we're going to stay at the Kingdom Marshal's at her
    invitation
SkyeDS: it would not be practical nor desirable to leave the horses
with the Marshal and stay with Joanie.
SkyeDS: she's more than welcome to come out and visit and watch if
    she likes.
SkyeDS: Kelly has joined her kids in their karate lessons, and you
are about to take up Krav Maga.
evile: I think that's a good ide: just tell Joan where & when you're
going to be and let her do the work (or not) if it's important for
    her to see sineater.
SkyeDS: if she gets on his nerves he can get on his low horse (she's
too short to be a high horse) and ride away :)
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: hadn't thought about what her reaction to sonar0m will be
SkyeDS: although I'm not quite sure that I care
SkyeDS: I did banish sonar0m while my gramma was here tho
evile: No reason to rub her face in anything...if she's there and
y'all are there just introduce everyone and no reason to detail the
    bedroom situation.
SkyeDS: that's what I've always thought
evile: None of anyone's business, anyway.
SkyeDS: but he is no better at hiding his feelings than kaleon was,
    matter fact probably less
SkyeDS: and so people around usually at least partially twig to
    soemthing "strange" afoot
    evile: *shrug*
SkyeDS: although so help me, I get tired of being asked if he's my son
SkyeDS: I do NOT look that old dammit
evile: I got asked if Sunshine was my son. ACK!
    SkyeDS: omg
    SkyeDS: <hugs>
evile: Yeah, if' I'd been a 15 year old slut, he could be my kid...
SkyeDS: I would have had to have had M at 13
SkyeDS: although most people think he's 17
SkyeDS: which means I would have had to have him at 17
    evile: people are so crazy.
SkyeDS: unless they think I"m older than my 34
SkyeDS: but the funny thing is, upon asking them,
SkyeDS: most people think he's 17
    SkyeDS: and think I'm 28
SkyeDS: and ask me if he's my child
    SkyeDS: ...hello...?
    evile: heh. Not math majors.
SkyeDS: omg Eule is so funny
SkyeDS: he's equestrian, falconer and rapier too
SkyeDS: I posted, "no sex and no horseback for two weeks so I just
    get to watch"
SkyeDS: I didn't realize what that came across as until he replied
    with "no official comment"
evile: lots of ways that could be taken.
SkyeDS: catching up on boards, yawn
evile: yeah. it's gotta be done :P
SkyeDS: entered the Kumpania Peregrina into the Troupe Tourney at CRW
iffn you decide you want to join us
SkyeDS: specially if you want to like do something entertaining to
distract people while someone plays thief
SkyeDS: or if you happen to be a good thief
evile: I saw that, now I've lost the thread where people were RSVPing.
    SkyeDS: Jose is so cute
SkyeDS: he said they were going to watch the children to make sure
    they stay in character
    evile: heh. That was funny.
evile: I'm still waiting to see Akon pics of him in the Captain Jack
Sparrow getup I helped create :P
    SkyeDS: that sounds most cool]
evile: He looked adorable the last time he did the Capt. Jack look.
SkyeDS: if you''ve peroused the chaos galleries he has awesome garb
collection and looks quite dashing in it
evile: Haven't looked there in for ever.
SkyeDS: I wonder how closely he catches the personality though, given
his good little baptist boy roots
evile: no tellin'. He's pretty funny & does various accents & stuff
(the very few times I've hung out with him)
SkyeDS: I've only seen him go into baptist mode once, and Katy called
him off it. Otherwise he is quite entertaining :)
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: wouldn't mind taking the boys to acon but it's always on my
    birthday
SkyeDS: and I don't want to do acon on my birthday
    evile: no...
    SkyeDS: just got to polys.
evile: the austin list has been pretty quiet lately.
SkyeDS: except for your post :)
evile: That was just...odd. My life has been a little bit like that
lately. All these people asking *me* for advice, like I know anything
    about this stuff?!?
    SkyeDS: lol
SkyeDS: <ducks, laughing> you could always ask kaleon.
evile: kaleon would probably say something like "pout, throw fits, and
give ultimatums until he gives up his wife and goes exclusive with
    you!"
    SkyeDS: lol
evile: I think my advice was a tiny bit better than that...maybe not
    by much.
SkyeDS: I did have a very short lived partner who wanted me to give
up sineater, kaleon and my children to go belong to him in New Zealand.
evile: New Zealand's a nice place. I'd be tempted some days...
SkyeDS: so that lasted, once I met him face to face, less than two
    weeks.
    evile: I bet.
SkyeDS: I suppose I should have felt guilty, in that it cost him
quite a bit to come from NZ to see me for two weeks
    evile: that was his choice...
SkyeDS: talked to Julie at Steppes for a few minutes while back
SkyeDS: she doesn't do HFS at all any more
SkyeDS: her comment was "I don't have time for children"
    evile: I wouldn't blame her.
evile: seems like that's the step most people take when they're fed
up with the childish nonsense of HFS but still like some of the
aspects of it enough to take it a step up.
SkyeDS: nods...step up to Amtgard or SCA
SkyeDS: although SCA cares hugely for its children
SkyeDS: those who truly are acting their ages I mean :)
    evile: yup
SkyeDS: I can't believe chaos has been so quiet lately.
evile: give it a week or so...
SkyeDS: and it seems to me that BD should be having coronation soon
evile: I don't keep track, really.
SkyeDS: when I get around to it we'll probably rejoin Drandmir.
    evile: makes sense
evile: bizarre. hfs calendar thing would not let me rsvp for CRW7 as
a drandmirian. So I picked Barad duin and it let me. WIERD.

    SkyeDS: qapologies
    evile: no biggie.
evile: I know you're on dialup out there :P
SkyeDS: this is sineater. talking to a headhunter, have a phone interview
    set up for mon.
    SkyeDS: dialup sucks.
    SkyeDS: :(P
    SkyeDS: bleah bleah bleah
    evile: *fingers crossed*
SkyeDS: shrug. it is above my level of experience
SkyeDS: so, who knows... if they get desperate enough, well...
SkyeDS: but it would be work, and work is good
SkyeDS: and it would not be dell
evile: every job posting is the employer's wish list. I don't think
they expect to find 1 person who can do everything on the job desc
SkyeDS: nod, i would be the third person hired for this position
    (assuming)
SkyeDS: 1 and 2 did not cut the cheese.
    SkyeDS: er
evile: It's always good to get practice interviewing, anyway.
    SkyeDS: well you know
    SkyeDS: nod
evile: I have trouble with that whole 'selling oneself' concept. ...I
am not a reptile. I do not sell.
SkyeDS: and it gives me the weekend to bone back up... get brain back
    in gear
    evile: *nods*
SkyeDS: shrug. that is why i prefer engineering
SkyeDS: here is what i can do. like it? cool. don't? good luck.
evile: I prefer to just do my damn job and hope that the management
doesn't have their heads so far up their butts that they can see I do
    good work.
SkyeDS: nod. so fAr, been lucky with that at d___
SkyeDS: since the return that is
    SkyeDS: 773D
evile: I don't feel it's my responsibility, on top of kicking butt at
my own job to go around documenting my gretness and tooting my own
    horn..that just seems...stupid to me.
SkyeDS: nod, which was part of the annual review for "real" 773D
    employees
SkyeDS: naturally i blew at that
SkyeDS: contracting is much more straightforward
evile: the D. place is just too big. And their hiring processes have
become much too complicated & byzantine for regular folks to handle.
Thus the reptiles continue to propagate themselves and the decent
    workers get edged out.
SkyeDS: ennyways got food on stove
    SkyeDS: no shit. is sad
    SkyeDS: :(
    evile: okeydoke. have fun.
    SkyeDS: hugs
    evile: *hugs*
    SkyeDS: *smooch!* be good
    evile: don't get caught.
evile: well, it's about time for me to distribute paper & get ready
    to go home. finally!
    evile: *hugs* Take care :)
