10am: Accountant. He made fun of my business spreadsheet & expresed
relief that there wasn't one this year. Kind of felt bad about
charging me $95 for a very very easy return. Oh well.
Went to Barton Creek Square Mall, walked 1 hour, shopped. got some
sandalwood rose conditioner in Bath & Body works. None of the other
sniffy stores had anything sandalwood at all. $9! But it's good
stuff.
Drove around. Went to Target on Ben White.
Got to the place around 1, read in the car until 1:30, then went in
for the HSG (Hysterosalpingogram)[sp?] to follow up on the Essure and
make sure that the Essure springs were in place and that my body had
built enough scar tissue around them to block the fallopian tubes.
This involved me going to a radiological lab & getting undressed from
the waist down.
The tech inserted a speculum, used a swab to sterilize the cervix,
and then a tube attached to a tube & plunger. The tube went partway
into my uterus, and then the dye was inserted. It looked black on the
monitor, allowing the springs to stand out in white on the monitor.
When the X-ray films were taken, the black dye was white and the
springs were dark. I got to see everything as it was done on a
monitor next to the table. ick. But kinda cool.
Three X rays were taken: one of me flat on my back, one with me
turned slightly to the right, and one with me turned slightly to the
left. All of these were taken with the tube and speculum still
inserted.
The whole X ray procedure took maybe 5 minutes. However, the uterus
full of dye was *VERY* uncomfortable, like some of the worst
menstrual cramps I've ever had. I almost threw up due to the pain.
As soon as the speculum and tube were removed, the liquid drained out
fairly quickly and the pain went away fairly quickly. Not a very
pleasant way to spend an afternon.
The good news: the tech who did the procedure said it looked as if
the tubes were 100% blocked!
Now to get my nice neat Novasure Endometrial Ablation, and that pesky
uterus of mine will never try to kill me again!
yay!
Both techs in the room were female, one said Essure looked like
something she wanted to ask her Dr. about! So that's cool.
I stopped at Randall's on the way home, got a loaf of bread & a pot
of port cheese spread & ate half of both & the rest of the garlic
tequila shrimp, drank a Newcastle & some port, & went to sleep on the
couch, then got up around 7 and went to bed. That pain was gross, the
stuff coming out was gross, and I was just kinda stressed & violated-
feeling. Glad it's over.
