evile: howdy! I'm at lunch. Hopefully won't get the red-ass from the
    boss for being online...
SkyeDS: hey you!!! that thing about the vulture was cool. <stands in
front of your puter screen adn whistles innocently>
evile: hee. I may have to haul my ass out to the center and see the
    bird in person.
    SkyeDS: that would be fun.
evile: Yeah, assuming I get a free weekend in here sometime...agh.
SkyeDS: you need a social secretary and Hermione Granger's magical
    hour glass.
evile: Most of Sept. will be cool, though. So it's not like its bad,
    just busy.
SkyeDS: what else got goin on?
evile: Grapefest, Tablerock Faire, GWNN party, and Drandmir
coronation. I've been asked to help do the feast.
SkyeDS: doesn't surprise me. although you've said before you didn't
    want to be feastocrat
SkyeDS: not I think that Jesabele would let you, but I'm sure she's
    happy to draft you
evile: No, I'm just helping. No input on menu or prep or anything,
just a warm body to do stuff.
SkyeDS: that reminds me. I need to email Bro Fred from SM about the
stuff he wants us at. And look into TableRock.
evile: Last year it was HOT at Tablerock. Small faire, nice venue,
    but just too fucken' hot.
evile: Actually, I realized I do have the first weekend of Sept. free-
ish, except for maybe a Voyager event. So maybe I'll go to the raptor
center then. If I go to CRW at all (doubtful), It'll be just for the
    day on Sat.
SkyeDS: doesn't look like we're going either. Patrick is trying one
more time to get them to change their minds.
SkyeDS: but I doubt it will happen.
evile: Somehow I think Patrick is playing both ends against the
middle, rather than actively trying to do anybody any good.
SkyeDS: I don't think so. Not unless he fakes very well. You should
    see his emails to me.
SkyeDS: but, I do have a hard time reconciling them to the way he
    talks to Katie for example.
evile: I think he fakes very well. :)
SkyeDS: at any rate, it's no skin off my nose not to go to CRW.
evile: I realize that I'm AR and an organizational freak, but all of
the strangeness surrounding CRW and preparations for it....just sets
up a lot of bells & whistles & red flags for me.
evile: the lost money. No written contract less than a month before
the event. the venue's website being down. the wildly fluctutating
alcohol policy. All are just really bad signs.
SkyeDS: I think a perfectly good CRW could be had at Lake Somerville
    <shrug>
SkyeDS: all that stuff about the contract and the change in staff
happened exactly the same way the year before too. very strange.
evile: HFS is a weird bunch. High School kids that dont' know their
butts from a hole in the ground and don't have 2 pennies to rub
together, college kids without much more, and then adults who should
have more common sense, but don't. I can understand the challenge of
plannign a big event for the first time in your life, but I don't
understand the lack of mentoring/structure to this learning process.
Why it has to be the same learning process every year...
SkyeDS: the Challain one day event in Plano was very good.
SkyeDS: and they have the best HFS park I've ever seen, I'm jealous.
    evile: That's cool.
SkyeDS: Rita and Jesabele are both excellent feastocrats.
    evile: It takes talent :)
    SkyeDS: aye
evile: It's going to be weird being a helper for Drandmir's thing.
I'm so used to doing things by myself & thus getting to be 'in
    charge' by default.
SkyeDS: when and where is it?
evile: Where: Beats the fuck out of me. I guess they'll have to tell
me if they want me there to peel potatoes or whatever. When: Sept 26-
    28.
SkyeDS: one of these days I guess I might try my hand at my own IKP,
    at lake somerville.
SkyeDS: how hard can it be.
evile: I'd do it with a board or a committee, rather than trying to
do it all myself. Which is wierd for me to say since i hate group
    projects with a passion.
    SkyeDS: exactly.
SkyeDS: I would have to because I need a battlecrat if nothing else.
    evile: yup.
evile: I tried to read the CRW6 handbook...it works better than
    sleeping pills.
    SkyeDS: ROFL
evile: I don't see how you can be out there busily bashing away and
*remember* all that stuff. Seems very cumbersome to me.
SkyeDS: theyr'e trying to talk sonar0m into running for Champion so
    that Alex won't be unopposed.
SkyeDS: I pointed out to him that he doesn't want that crap.
SkyeDS: even if it does mean Alex is unopposed.
evile: That would make things more interesting but...if he doesn't
want the position he shouldn't run for it.
SkyeDS: he may think he wants it, but he doesn't really.
SkyeDS: people already accuse him of cheating and sluffing (same
    charges against Terwin current Champion)
SkyeDS: he's already lost his temper at people several times because
    of the false accusations
evile: Well, he's a kid. They have to make their own mistakes rather
than learn from the wisdom of others. I'ts frustrating to watch, but
    that's how they learn.
SkyeDS: It old him, I don't think it's a good idea. However, if it's
what you want tod o, I will support you. But he hasnt' even takent
he reeves test. He'd have to study for that, he isnt' good at tests
(dyslexia) and he can barely handle school as it is.
evile: Well, if it was me, I'd be working more on the academic stuff
that will effect my RL. But...that's me. If he wants to wreck his
brain studying for HFS instead of real school, that's his business.
SkyeDS: not if I can help it.
evile: You sound like a mom :)
evile: I used to try to run [brother A]'s life, and Sineater's and, to a lesser
extent, [sister H]'s...but eventually it got pounded into my head that I'm
not in charge of them. I care about them, I hate to see them hurt, I
hate to watch them make avoidable mistakes...but it's their life, ya
    know?
    SkyeDS: true.
SkyeDS: but I can withdraw my support now that I think about it.
SkyeDS: I don't have to condone it or offer to help in any way. Or
have anything to do with it.
SkyeDS: besides, in addition to wrecking his academic career, which
is his business. It will make him miserable, which I will then have
to deal with, which is MY business.
evile: You are not responsible for his mistakes and you dont' have to
pull his butt out of the fire if he gets it burned. Now, you may
offer to kiss & make better, but that's between you & him ;)
evile: And this is all assuming he wins the nomination/election, so
we don't even have eggs to count just yet, ya know?
SkyeDS: I think I might tell him, I'm not going to have anything to
do with this, and if you end up being miserable over it, don't come
    to me for comfort.
    evile: Yup.
SkyeDS: if everyone wants Alex opposed why don't they run.
    evile: exactly.
SkyeDS: if it werent' the start of a semester, if it were this past
summer, I would be different, maybe.
    evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: but I would still have to put up with the unhappiness.
evile: That is your choice. You could always find someone else to
hang with or other things to do while he throws his pity party.
SkyeDS: one good thing about him is that there aren't pity parties
unlike some other people we both know.
SkyeDS: and, he squarely accepts responsibility when it is due.
evile: Everyone has a right to their feelings. But that doesn't put
any responsibility off on others to react a certain way or whatever.
SkyeDS: fact remains, if he is unhappy, whether he makes it my burden
    or not, it is.
    evile: That is your choice.
SkyeDS: I'm just going to lay my thoughts out about it and that's all
    I can do.
evile: exactly. And if it blows up in his face, it's not your fault
or your responsibility. Give him a hug, tell him you're sorry it
didn't work out, and go on.
    SkyeDS: nodnod
evile: If he's not a wallower, that's all that will be needed :)
    SkyeDS: amen to that.
evile: I found a website that tells you how to make a chemise, skirt,
and muffin cap out of a full size flat sheet & a queen size flat
sheet. I tried to put the link on the clother's group, but I dont'
    know if it 'took'.
evile: It's in .pdf and I dont' think my work computer does pdf, so I
dont' know if tis just a local problem or a universal one
SkyeDS: always need more garb. erase and correct. always want more
    LOL
    evile: me too.
evile: Sharjinka's having a craft nite and I have no idea what to take
to work on if I go. And then Drandmir's craft day is Saturday and I
again have no clue. Assuming I get to go, because we're helping
    Stephanie move this weekend.
SkyeDS: love moving, hate packing and unpacking.
evile: I hate the whole thing.
SkyeDS: I need to take serious assessment of what I've already got
and get it organized before I acquire anything else.
evile: me too. My work room looks like a grenade hit it.
SkyeDS: We're going to make a dwarf barbarian out of Kelly.
    evile: cute.
SkyeDS: and Michael is training to be a ninja assassin.
    evile: awesome.
SkyeDS: I am so glad they enjoy HFS.
SkyeDS: gives us much more time together.
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: glad you like it too. although you hardly needed something
    else to do ;)
evile: I mostly go for y'all, not the HFS. Even though I am now on
friendly terms with a few HFS-ers too.
evile: We are still stuck with the village idiot at work. We have 6
boxes of stuff to do and somehow he has managed to number them up to
    10.
    SkyeDS: omfg.
evile: How do you live to be 40-ish and NOT know how to COUNT????
SkyeDS: I had this interview, blew them away. They called me and
went on at length on how blown away they were. Then hired someone
    else because I was overqualified.
SkyeDS: I need the village idiot's job <sigh>
evile: *sigh* They promoted nasty condescending phone lady to the
same job as me, and have a temp in her old place. If VI wasn't such a
moron, he could go on the same path. I realy hope we get rid of him
    soon.
evile: I will sneak by his desk later and see if I can find out what
    agency he's from.
SkyeDS: that would be most cool.
evile: If they can put up with him AND place him, you will probably
bee seen as a gift from Heaven.
SkyeDS: been concentrating more on the state jobs lately.
SkyeDS: Arthur would be seen as a gift from heaven, no doubt.
SkyeDS: I can hear him ont he phone now.
    evile: *lol* True.
SkyeDS: hello. Arthur. you just got fired? haha!
evile: Well, it's time for me to get back to work.
SkyeDS: <hugs> sees ya laters :)
    evile: *hugs* take care! :)
