Jul. 29th, 2002 06:22 pm- Jul. 29, 2002Got up at some ungodly hour this a.m.--resetting my alarm must have
reset my clock too. Walked the dog, still had like 1/2 hour before I
had to meet teh bus. Sat on the couch & read _American Gods_ for a
while, then went to catch the bus. It passed me just as I was about
1/2 a block+ from the stop. Ah well. So I didn't get in to work until
7:27. Not that bad, really. Will have to reset my clock and alarm so
that doesn't happen again.
Was dreaming about going back to school at a place that looked kind
of Tulane-ish. Alex was in my dream, too. Maybe he was going to
school, too?
Anyhoo...that's been my exciting day so far. feh!- Jul. 29, 2002Wondered how long it would take before SIL took all the credit for
making her horse's costume and lost all gratitude to me for my
help :)

Join me up to the Garbers Guild.
I'm not terribly good at it, all of my own garb so far I've bought,
so the only garb I have to my own credit at this moment are the tunic
I made for my husband and the native costume I made for my horse
(pics in Terwin's photo album Critters at Drandmir).
I would like to be as accomplished as Liz and to have a wardrobe like
hers. At the same time, I would also be happy to share what little I
do know with anyone that would find it helpful.
I can be taught, and I am also very resourceful :-). While we're on
the subject, there are several nice chemises at Ross that are far
more reasonably priced than the usual Renny specific fare. I found
them to be suitable for wear either alone or under a doublet or a
bodice. I'm also a big fan of ebay for both raw supplies and
readymade garb.

So, happy Monday & stuff. My sister's gonna be in town this week.
That should be great fun. I'm happy about that.
===================================
Pet peeve alert! woop! woop! Ok...I know times are tough & people are
doing what they can to help make ends meet. And I am all about
supporting friends & acquaintainces in their efforts. But, people,
when the only time you invite me to your home is to try & sell me
kitchen gadgets or makeup, I'm gonna pick up on it pretty quick and
get resentful. I'm gonna start thinking the only reason you want to
see me is to get my money. I am likely to start feeling hurt and
used. And deliberately hurting and using your friends makes the Baby
Jesus cry. Just remember my motto when it comes to this sort of
thing: Champagne For Real Friends, Real Pain for Sham Friends. So
when treating people shabbily comes back to bite you in the ass,
don't say I didn't warn ya.
==============================
OK, fess up, who was looking at www.freaks.net/eek at 4 this a.m.?
And then followed the link to this diary? I want to know who you are
and why you were up so late/early!

I am retaliating against Sonya's latest "Come to my house so I can
make money off you" by inviting SIL to her little Mary K party.
Of course, that is just as much torture for Sonya as it is for me.
Well...maybe not. I've kind of gotten used to it. Friday was almost
tolerable, except, that lookin back on it, I didn't get a sentence
out whole the entire time. Started to talk about being fat and
unhappy at AndrewS wedding, started to talk about ...whatever, and
got interrupted by boring minutiae, stories I'd heard before, bla
bla.
So I'll be very entertained if SIL takes me up on my offer to bring
her to the MK party :) Champagne for real friends, real pain for sham
friends. fuck 'em.
I might have also written about X's using me in today's d'land
entry, but I'm done with that. Thanksgiving isn't happening and vegas
for Jessica's bday isn't looking good either. I am not spending $1200
on hotel & air alone, then another $300 on top of that to show that
bratty child and her using mother a good time. A) I don't have that
kind of money, and B) they're not worth it. Sorry about breaking my
promise to J, and I feel bad, but not bad enough to put myself a
grand or 2 into debt over it. I suppose I could start saving right
after I get back from Cozumel (haha, like I'm not going to abuse
plastic on that trip & have to work on paying it to zero).
- Jul. 29, 2002The sad thing is that I don't have alot of wiggle room BUT the happy
thing is that I can pay bills, eat, and have a roof over my head
without being in debt at all. And as for the cruise in Oct, $700 is
alot of $ to spend in 4 days, so maybe I can stay away from the
plastic. Aside from rooms in New Orleans, which will be easier to
reserve & pay for with plastic, of course. On the subject of
cruising: things are not looking good in Jen-land. She quit her
horrible job and is not finding a replacement as quickly as she
thought she would. Now is not a good time to ask for more definite
travel plans so I can go ahead and make hotel res. But we are closing
on 2 months 'til the trip, and not having them is making me nervous.
Of course I can cruise without Jen. :( and hang in New Orleans
without Jen. But what's the fun in that? And doubtless there will be
heinous fines or something if I change the ticket now to reflect a
new passenger. I suppose I should double check on that. Why would it
matter to the cruise line? there's 2 beds paid for, why should they
care who occupies them?

- Jul. 29, 2002Just remembered something she said on Friday that just appalled me
with its ignorance: talking about going to the Oriental markets
(these are actually ASIAN markets) to find Saris. heehee.
She amuses me so much with her big words and real-world ignorance.
