Had a good workout at 24 hour fitness last night. I was there for a
little over an hour, just trying stuff out, basically. Even was
tempted to try and get up to swim at 5 a.m. sometime. wow. I kind of
mentally pictured Jen during the sauna & hottub portion of my gym
visit. Just made it more fun. I miss her...soooooo much. If she was
here, I would even pay her membership, because I know she's a
reliable workout partner, and doing stuff with her is always fun. No
matter what it is.

Last night's dream:
Last night's dreams involved going on a road trip in a bus made
almost entirely of glass. The driver sat near the back and the
passengers sat near the big front window. Not facing front, seats
were up against the walls of the bus, so if we looked forward we'd
see the people facing us. Turning my head to the right, I could see
out the front of the bus. Driving at twilight, flat road and desert
plants whizzing by. We were going to Vegas, but we stopped at a gas
station and one of the people I was traveling with started playing
the slot machine at the gas station (a thin tall girl with dark hair
in a longer bob-type cut), and one of the guys on the bus (Matt
Taylor/"Brick House"?) had to pick her up and carry her back to the
bus kicking and screaming, because it turns out she was a gambling
addict. So then Andrea and I were trying to figure out how we could
go see a show in one of the casinos with this girl, without passing
any slot machines that would tempt her addiction.
There was also an interval in which we stopped at a restaurant to
eat. Tom was there at that point. Onion rings. Concrete floors,
wooden picnic tables, it was some kind of healthfood granola-type
restaurant. Even though I had onion rings. It was kind of like
Mother's cafe meets Pok-E-Joes on 5th St. And for some reason, I feel
like I've dreamt about that place before. Like maybe it's someplace
in San Antonio we used to go to when I was a kid?
Then we got to wherever we were going and there were 3 dogs wearing
clothes. Maybe the dogs had been in the bus with us all along and
someone dressed them once we got to Vegas? They were all rolling
around in the grass and dirt in the courtyard of our hotel and being
dogs, so the clothes were filthy. Two male dogs, one female in a
white dress. Were the dogs in Medieval garb? Andrea was telling me
about the dogs' rank, or something, like one was a knight, the other
was a king, and the female was a queen or princess. The 'knight' dog
was a big black dog (maybe with a white tuft on his chin--like Puppy
if he'd gotten to grow up, maybe?) wearing a blue and white surcoat.
I have *no* clue what this one was all about. The Vegas is probably
from listening to the Mystere CD every day for the last week+. The
garb, probably how I feel about helping SIL make her horse costumes--
it's not right to dress animals, they'll only get the stuff dirty, or
something like that. The gambling bus and the gambling addict girl?
Maybe some facet of me, as well as Brick House dragging her away,
another part of myself that keeps the addict part of me in check.

Taurus
Horoscope (by astrocenter.com)
You should be in a great mood today, dear Taurus, feeling especially
sociable and enthusiastic about being with your friends. Discussions
with close friends about intellectual, philosophical or spiritual
issues that interest all of you could set your mind going, causing
you to want to seek out more information in these fields. The subject
of business could come up but try to avoid talking shop. There's
plenty of time for that later!
Gemini
Horoscope (by astrocenter.com)
Churches, meditation centers, and other places of spiritual retreat
could be especially appealing today, as your mind is likely to want
to turn within, dear Gemini. You could draw artistic inspiration from
the insights that come to you through meditation or reflection. Some
vivid and revealing dreams could also come to you tonight, as your
unconscious is very active. Write down whatever you feel may be
significant so that you can analyze it later.

- Jun. 20, 2002Looks like I decided to lose weight just in time. Southwest doesn't
like fatties. Well...guess what, I don't either. I wouldn't want to
be embarassed at the gate by being told I had to buy another
seat...but they have a point that it's not cool to have people
sitting on top of you. There isn't hardly enough room for normal
people on planes, so it's rough. But...I dunno. It's mean, but if
there could be a standard applied universally & fairly to everyone,
maybe it would be OK.

'Passengers of Size' Pay Double on Southwest
Thu Jun 20, 7:20 AM ET
By Jon Herskovitz
DALLAS (Reuters) - Passengers who are too large to squeeze between
the arm rests of Southwest Airlines ( news - web sites) Co. seats
will be charged double for flying the low-cost carrier, the company
said on Wednesday.
The Dallas-based airline, which does not have first or business class
sections with larger seats, said the policy has been in effect for
some time but will be more strictly enforced beginning next week.
Starting next Wednesday, its "people of size" policy will require
passengers who need seat-belt extensions or cannot lower the arm
rests on their seats to purchase two seats if they are flying on a
plane near or at capacity.
"If you consume more than one seat, you will be charged for more than
one seat," said spokeswoman Beth Harbin.
Harbin said that under the existing policy, fewer than 1 percent of
Southwest passengers have been asked to buy a second seat, which is
offered at the same rate at which the passenger purchased their
original ticket.
Southwest seats are 18-3/4 inches (48 cm) wide.
When the plane is not crowded, a larger passenger can apply for a
refund for the second seat, she said.
Southwest said that about 90 percent of the letters it receives on
the issue have been from passengers complaining that their seating
has been encroached upon by larger neighbors. The airline said one of
the top complaints it receives are from passengers who say they
were "sat on" during their flight.
Fat activist Marilyn Wann, author of the book "FAT!SO?," said
airlines should provide seating that accommodates people of all
shapes and sizes who are paying for a trip.
"You are buying passage from point A to point B. You are not buying
real estate," Wann said.
SENSE OF FAIRNESS
David Stempler, president of the Air Travelers Association, said that
airlines have had an informal policy for years of encouraging larger
people to buy an extra seat.
He said the topic will likely gain greater attention as Americans
grow fatter and airlines try to keep seats narrow to comply with
federal mandates on aisle size and their own need to pack passengers
on planes.
The extra seat policy is not unique to Southwest. American Airlines (
news - web sites) said the "purchase of an additional seat will be
necessary for customers whose bodies protrude extensively into an
adjacent seat," while other carriers have formal and informal
policies on the extra seat requirement.
Stempler said he supported charging certain people for two seats out
of fairness to other passengers and the potential safety concern of
having people of size shoehorned into a small coach seat.
"If people are taking up two seats, they ought to pay for two seats,"
Stempler said. "They are really impinging on the sense of fairness."
Southwest was sued eight years ago on the issue by a larger passenger
forced to buy a second seat and the case was dismissed, Harbin said.
The airline said the move to more strictly enforce the policy was
prompted by its decision to stop giving out its trademark plastic
boarding passes on a first-come, first-served basis to passengers at
its departure gate.
Southwest, which does not have assigned seating, is starting to
dispense paper boarding passes instead in an effort to cut waiting
time for customers who have to pass through more stringent security
measures after the Sept. 11 attacks.
The new boarding passes, which are given out at Skycap counters,
ticket gates and at departure gates, provide an opportunity for
Southwest workers to show greater discretion in enforcing the people
of size policy, airline officials said.
Morgan Downey, executive director of the American Obesity Association
said his organization is considering lawsuits against the carrier for
a policy he called highly subjective.
"They are packing us in like sardines and they say it's our fault
that their seats don't fit the traveling public," he said.
- Jun. 20, 2002Well, the bad news is we didn't win the lotto last nite. The good
news is that we're winning it on the 22nd. Summer solstice energy,
waxing moon, voodoo dolly at work with a dollar with the pyramid
showing pinned to it with a white pin--we've got all the signs on our
side. :) I should find out what sign the moon is in on Saturday & do
a little hoodoo for whatever the sign is. Yeah. I'm all about
superstition. And WINNING. Winning is good.
=================================================================
Wrote to Jen:
The Texas Lotto is up to 68 million. And, as you know, 68 is our magic
number (room E-68 on the ship!)
So I think we should win on Saturday.
Send me six #'s to play for ya, or I'll get you a quick pick.
And then we can buy a boat and have "Do Me and I'll Owe Ya One"
painted in calligraphy on the side. Her official name will be "Lady
68" of course :)
----------------------------------------------------
Jen Sez:
Let's go with the QP, cash value. That's a fuckin' lot of money.
I adore the boat idea. :)

adventure, or shopping."

Thursday, June 20
Waxing moon in Scorpio. Excellent day for trimming the fat from
bloated budgets or figuring out shortcuts. Or being abrupt with
others (by accident). Scorpio, Venus isn't helping you out this week,
so pass on food that's hard to digest or clothing that doesn't
flatter. Cancer, this month is all about decisions versus
opportunities, and this week that's especially true for July 714
crabs.
Horoscopes for the month of June:
TAURUS
(April 20-May 21). Difficult days could be June 1 and 2 (but only if
you're being snowed by someone with a smooth line). The moon is in
your sun sign on June 7 and 8, although June 6 could find you feeling
overwhelmed. So much to do, so few to rely on. What else is new? June
13 and 14 are NOT days for risk-taking behavior or too much
frankness. Mild disagreements that get impassioned emerge. Making
sure the details are known is your story on June 16, while June 20
and 21 could be frustrating on these fronts: procedure doesn't get
followed; steps need to be skipped; and others don't provide all the
information you might need. June 24 and 25 is the full moon you may
THINK you're in control, but the "chinashop bull" might be what
others see. PRACTICE hearing out another point of view, canya canya
canya??? June 26 and 27 are also sticky you won't seem at your
best, and you could be distractable. Be careful while driving.
GEMINI
(May 21/22-June 21). Difficult days include June 1 (but especially
June 2 and 3, when you could be sold a load of codswallop and think
you got a bargain). Also, June 9 and 10 (the new moon, and the moon
is in your sun sign you've got to work VERY hard to be at peace
with yourself, but it is possible. It's also possible for you to let
depression or disappointment with the misbehavior of others
overshadow the good stuff. June 15 and 16 is also a tricky time for
you you'll be splitting hairs, and then splitting them, and the
next thing you'll be over at MIT asking to use their accelerator
saying, "I KNOW I can get this atom to cut RIGHT down the middle."
June 22 and 23 are the next weird days with the oncoming full moon,
you may think you see the whole picture, BUT YOU DON'T, especially if
you're depending on Capricorn, Libra and Aries folks who may be just
as spacey as you think you aren't. (The best-adjusted Twins know
they're candidates for analysis, but don't have the time). June 29
and 30 is also dicey don't jump to conclusions, and don't think
someone doesn't care because they're not there. Smoother sailing on
June 4 and 5, and possibly the new moon on June 10. That day, and the
ones near by are SO excellent for getting all the facts, but the
trick will be reacting RATIONALLY, not EMOTIONALLY. June 13 and 14
are excellent days for pushing forward new business, as is June 18
and 19, though distractions abound. (Not good for negotiating with
Cancer or Capricorn, by the way). If you can get things done after
the full moon, like June 26 and 27, or schedule
meetings/conversations with faraway friends, you'll be doing well.
Those days are also good for writing and facing facts. Signs to
watch out for: Libra, Aries and Capricorn. Real easy call. The time
to romance a fire sign person is later in the month.

look at this on 6/22!!! It has which signs/planets are where every
day.- Jun. 20, 2002I stand in the sacred human presence. As I do now, so should you
stand some day. I pray to your presence that this be so. Let the
future remain uncertain for that is the canvas to receive our
desires. Thus the human condition faces its perpetual tabula rasa. We
possess no more than this moment where we dedicate ourselves
continuously to the sacred presence we share and create.
From _DUNE: House Harkonnen_ by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson- Jun. 20, 2002Have fun. Need to vent a mo'. Sorry.
A. says: I need to start walking on a regular basis
me: if you want a walking partner, give me a call
she: but there's no place I can walk with Arthur [parrot] without
people bugging me
(the understanding being that she has set herself up in a no win
situation: she will not walk WITHOUT the bird, and if she takes him,
of course she will not get in a good workout because people will be
stopping her and bothering her about the bird)
I just hate watching people sabotage themselves & put obstacles in
their own way. It is clear as day to me when others do it. I probably
do similar things to myself, but it isnt obvious to me what they are.
*sigh* and of course she would get pissed if I said " look, don't
walk with the bird, it's that easy" FEH.
