Well, I think I'm going to the poly picnic at Bryce & Apple's on
Saturday. I emailed the host and asked what I should bring. He
suggested a dish that serves 6-8 and that I, personally, like, just
in case there's nothing else there that I like :) Kind of silly, but
nice. I think I'll do a broccoli-rice casserole or some potatoes au
gratin. Vegetarian, either one. Just in case. More people can eat
veggie.
I am also thinking of shopping for a small tent to take to CMA with
me. My price range is 'cheap' but maybe I can find something. I
don't want to hassle with our big tent, and certainly don't want to
give the impression that I'm setting up for an orgy when I get to CMA
camp. I may head out there early Saturday a.m. rather than Friday
afternoon. I haven't decided yet. No responses to my post in
austinpagans. of course. We have enough daylight in the evenings now
that if I leave around 3:30 on Friday, I should get there with an
hour or more of daylight to spare. As long as they don't shut the
gates for the evening at a certain time. And, hey, if they do that, I
can just sleep in my car. No biggie.
I'm going to miss both newbie meetings. I'll be very clueless now. Ah
well. It's not like I have never camped before.
Jen is sending me pictures of swimsuits and cute summery shoes to
wear for our cruise. She is so with-it. I haven't even rummaged thru
my closet to find something for A&A's wedding. And that's a little
more than 2 wks away. *sigh* I am seriously tempted to get some sound-
effects keychains for me and Jen to play the 'flushing toilet' noise
when he says I do. But that would be mean. And Jen wouldn't do it.
She can't even bring herself to get a super gooshy religious card to
give them, which would only be a niggling annoyance to Andrew rather
than a huge affront. I'm into huge affronts. :)

Today's horoscopes:
Taurus
Horoscope (by astrocenter.com)
If you find yourself driving on a long highway today, dear Taurus,
make sure you break off onto an unknown exit. Take your chance on a
place you've never been to before, and travel down a random road to
see where it takes you. It is fine to be secure and grounded where
you are, but don't forget the importance of striking out into new
territory. It is in this way that you will expand your mind and bring
perspective to your emotions.
Gemini
Horoscope (by astrocenter.com)
Relationships with men aren't apt to go especially well for you
today, dear Gemini. For some reason there is an unspoken tension that
seems to exist in your interaction with the opposite sex. It could be
that they are feeling threatened by your strong personality and
ability to handle many tasks at once. Don't take this to mean that
you should necessarily change your behavior in any way. If someone
can't handle the way you are in some capacity, this is probably more
of a reflection of their insecurities rather than your faults.
I'm probably going to get in trouble for this, but I posted it in
pagan politics anyway. There is no 'normal' CMA Q&A list. And
the "newbie hints" on the main CMA web page are just normal "camping
tips" type things. And I already know how to camp.
================================================================
Hey, I've been catching up on the posts from the last month and I'm a
little gobsmacked by what seems to go on in the background...Is there
a 'normal' CMA list where one can just go to ask general questions?
This and a very small list called "CMA Talk" were all I found in the
yahoo groups. Is there something on usenet or an email subscription
list, maybe?
I am brand new to CMA, joined at the beginning of 2002, and will be
attending Beltane for the first time. My packet was a little
confusing. I wonder if it would be too much trouble to set up
a 'newbie newsletter' to send to all first-time attendees of a CMA
campout event, put in the coveted "newbie tag" and maybe a little map
of the grounds to get an idea of where or what "great works"
or "pan's playhouse" might be.
Due to unfortunate work scheduling, I won't be able to attend the
newbie meetings or get a newbie tag. I wonder how clueless I'm going
to be. . .and how nasty and/or indifferent everyone is going to be to
newbie clueless me.
==========================================
I am betting on "indifferent". Joy.
Well, the helpful folks on austin politics said they'd be glad to
meet me when I get in on Thursday. FRIDAY is when I get there. Friday
late. At this point maybe Saturday early. The least amount of time I
spend out there feeling miserable and left out the better. (small
voice says the longer I spend, the better my chances of meeting
people are. larger voice says bullshit, the longer I stay the worse
and more isolated I'll feel)
Got an invite to join a group called "beltane believers' which has
descended into "what can we do for the kids?" conversation. bleh!
And AND AND we front gate folks are going to be expected to dress &
make up like CLOWNS!!! NONONON!!! I HATE CLOWNS!!! I will wear a
stupid hat or deelybobbers, but no makeup and no wig. (supposing I
did meet someone nice while I was working? how would they recognize
me later if I was all stupided out for gate duty?) Besides, with the
makeup you have the issue of being out in the heat and getting skin
problems.
